A Night In
Date of Scene: 31 March 2021
Location: Warren's Penthouse
Synopsis: Warren and Kitty enjoy a quiet meal at home, that may not have been homecooked as she claimed. Plans are made for a vacation.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Warren Worthington

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty had planned something special tonight. A date night in. Which itself isn't unusual for the couple. But that Kitty said she would be the one preparing dinner, was.

Hearing this news might instill certain emotions. Fear. Dread. A desire to check the penthouse's stock of Pepto Bismol.

But Kitty seems really upbeat about it. That evening she comes downstairs, wearing a black with a short, unbalanced hem that shows more of one leg than another. Apparently wanting to be ready to sit down to eat with Warren when the food is ready.

But other than that she shoos him out of the kitchen, not letting him near. There's an occasional sound of a pot or pan on the stove, or the oven door opening and closing. And eventually it nears time for them to eat, the table is already set, a couple of candles on it needing lightning, and a bottle of wine and two glasses set out, but not opened yet.

"Are you ready?" Kitty calls from the kitchen.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Having been banished to the living room, Warren does his best to remain staring at the large TV in front of him instead of peering over his shoulder at the open kitchen, trying to give Kitty the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the meal she is prepping for the pair of them. The bangs of pots and pans sometimes make that difficult, his head starting to turn to look before he catches himself and forces himself to look back to the mindless TV show he has on to pass the time.

Finally she calls to him, and he sighs softly to himself...trying to keep upbeat about this particular dinner and not let the fear of gastronomic distress show on his face. He plasters on a smile onto his face, and says in the most upbeat way he can, "Sure, love. What did you make?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty has an apron on over her dress. She beings ferrying covered plates into the dining room, setting the dishes down on the table. She smiles over to him and pats chair for him to have a seat as she goes back and forth.

Finally everything is there. "For your dining pleasure tonight," she says, lifting one lid after another to reveal dishes, "We have steamed green beans and baby carrots with a very light butter sauce. Twice baked potatoes with each of our favorite toppings mixed in. Two ribeyes, cooked medium, with a garlic-sage topping, and devil's prawns, stuffed with cheese, crab and spiced with a little cayenne," she says.

It all looks good. It all -smells- good. Suspicious.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren moves over to the dining room as directed, taking a brief moment in time to fix himself a martini with some blue cheese olives before finishing his trek over to the table and sitting down.

As the food arrives and is uncovered, Warren arches his brow and looks over to Kitty with a suspicious eye, but he doesn't vocalize his suspicions. Let her keep the illusion that she cooked this all by herself instead of ordering out and re-plating it. She at least wanted to make it seem like she made the effort, so why deny her the outcome as suspect as it may be.

"Wow, Kate! This looks, and smells, amazing! Someone has been taking cooking lessons on the sly, haven't they? I can't wait to dig in. Hell, if this tastes as good as it smells I may just have you start cooking from now on!"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty beams as Warren seems enthused about the meal. And actually enthused. Not those forced smiles that people give on the first bite of her cooking, that usually can't be maintained all the way through.

She leans over to brush a kiss to his cheek. "I'm glad you like it," she tells him, pouring them each a glass of wine, Warren's to go along with his cocktail if he wants it. She looks around the table as if to make sure everything is perfect, and then takes a moment to bow her head and silently say a brief prayer before moving her napkin to her lap.

Food gets spooned onto plates, Kitty taking a sip of her wine. She shines a smile over to Warren. "I'm probably silly how much I enjoy these simple moments like getting to eat together," she tells him. She takes a bite of the stuffed prawn and makes an audible 'mmmm' sound. "That turned out better than I'd hoped," she says.

There's a little rustle over at the edge of the kitchen. Lockheed is standing there on the ground, holding a to go bag that bears the logo of Marea, a top end restaurant, and not too far from the penthouse.

Kitty sighs and rests her head on her hands before narrowing her eyes at Lockheed. "Traitor," she declares, though in a good-natured tone.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren cuts a bite of the steak and places it into his mouth, savoring the bite and chewing slowly, "Wow, this is amazing, Kate. I don't know where you found the time, but very well done! It's perfect."

He ignores the 'traitor' line, blissfully 'unaware' even if Warren may have seen the take out bag out of the corner of his eye, he is a good enough boyfriend to just ignore the little purple dragon and the damning evidence in its mouth, just smiling over at the young woman across the way and lifting his wine glass to her in a toast, "Too good food and even better company. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this, but I need to do it again."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty doesn't seem to mind all that much that the cat is out of the bag. Or the food. Not that the food is cat. It's beef. But it did come out of a bag.

She smiles to Warren though as he continues to play along. "You deserved this by being a wonderful, loving man who cares about others and puts them before himself," Kitty says, reaching over to slide her hand onto Warren's. "And I figured you'd know it wasn't my cooking. But I wanted you to know it wasn't for lack of willingness to put the effort in. More.. that I wanted tonight to end with something more romantic than getting our stomach's pumped," she says.

Ok really, she's not THAT bad. But it's become such a topic of jokes at the school that she plays along.

Kitty takes a bite of her steak as well, sighing happily. "Feel like picking a movie for later? Or would you rather go out and soak in the hot tub?"

Warren Worthington has posed:
Well it is hard for him to ignore the 'secret' if she just comes out and flat out says it to his face! Warren chuckles as he pats at her hand before he cuts another bite of the steak to continue eating, "You didn't need to ruin the illusion, Kate. I would have played along." He laughs, popping the bite into his mouth and chews. "Even if Lockheed over there is selling you out."

He smiles, leaning back in his chair and wiping his mouth with a napkin, "I thought you had everything planned for this evening, hun? I mean I am always down for the hot tub or a movie, you know that. Hell, we could do both. I mean we can't stay out in the hot tub for hours." He lifts his shoulder in a shrug before he starts to prepare his next bite, "Besides, I have a feeling that you have other plans that actually watching any movie that we put on anyway."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles over to Warren as he mentions her having plans. "Well, there might be some music before movie or hot tub. And I might have worn some shoes with this dress that are good for dancing," she tells him, letting a stocking-clad leg dangle out far enough beside the table that he can see it.

She snaps her fingers. "Which reminds me," she says, leaning over to stretch and reach for her phone, then using it to turn on some music on the penthouse's sound system. Quiet jazz for now.

"So I was thinking of maybe taking some vacation soon, if there's a good block of time for you to maybe get away for a little while? Maybe get out of New York somewhere?" she asks, looking to gauge his interest.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren chuckles as he continues to eat, "See, I knew it. Always scheming you are." He winks over in her direction as he pops another forkful into his mouth to chew.

At the question of time off, Warren shrugs again. "I can take off whenever, perk of being the boss," he says with a grin. "Where did you have in mind?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Good question," Kitty replies about where they might go. "I suppose seeing Ibiza, while on the mission to free the kidnapped mutant children, maybe has me thinking about something along the coast there," she says. "Which, granted, my usual thoughts on that would be get Illyana to teleport me over and then backpack and find some hostels to stay in as I move along the coast."

She motions with her fork. "Which I'm good with doing. If you'd rather pick somewhere you like though and have thoughts on where to stay, you probably know the area already I'm guessing?" she says of the ritzy Mediterranean coast and all of the well-to-do vacation areas.

"Or, I'd be just as happy to get away off to some beach somewhere, if you'd rather leave the rest of the world behind for a few days?" she suggests, letting him know she's open to other ideas just as much.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"I can always call Branson and see if I can borrow one of his islands for a week," laughs Warren as he makes moves to take another bite, "I know he has at least one in the Bahamas and another off the coast of Scotland..but I am assuming you had bikini weather more in mind than parkas and rain gear."

Warren takes a sip of his cocktail, leaning back in his chair as he thinks. "Maybe I should buy an island somewhere. Somewhere to just go an get away from it all, but you know if we really wanted to go off grid we could just head to the Savage Land. I mean, sure, the amenities are for shit but you can't beat the realism of your experience there."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty had thought she'd adjusted to some of these realities of life with Warren when instead of thinking of a Mediterranean trip as backpacking and getting by as cheaply as possible, she'd considered they might stay in resorts or hotels or rent somewhere.

Yet once again, just when she thinks she's started to adjust to the realities of what it is to be Warren, he casually mentions buying an island! It just makes her grin and give a little laughing shake of her head. She focuses on his comment though, saying, "Well I suppose that's a question for you as well. Would you rather see me in a bikini, or a parka?" she asks, grinning over at him coyly.

Kitty is slowly making her way through her meal. The food is delicious, as expected given where she got it. "That would be more the bikini sort of place. Whether intended or not. At least if it's Rogue. I swear that woman's costume ends up shredded more than a block of mozzarella. Yet it always looks good," she says with a chuckle.

She reaches over with her foot to rub against Warren's calf. "You don't need to buy an island for me. Just somewhere we can relax and be together. Maybe some nice scenery. Caribbean would be plenty wonderful. Or if you wanted to maybe go to Greece, we could spend a day or two on the water, and then go sight see the Parthenon and all the other historic sites? Have you ever been there?"

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren shakes his head, "Not recently. We can charter a yacht and puddle around the Med for a few weeks. That sounds like a good time! I'll make some calls, see if we can't find a nice boat to make out home for a couple weeks. Best part is someone else will do the cooking!" Warren grins, sipping at his cocktail.

"Start thinking about your preference sheet. They are going to ask you all your likes and dislikes as well as anything specific you are going to want to do or have on the charter."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde sets her fork down and takes her napkin from her lap, dabbing it at her lips and then setting it on the table. She rises from her chair and then moves over to Warren and gives his chair a little nudge back so she can settle down into his lap sideways, though giving him enough time to see that's what she's doing he can finish whatever bite or sip he's taken.

"You just find new ways to sweep me off my feet," she tells him as she slides her arms around Warren. She gazes into his eyes and then leans forward to rest her forehead against his. "These have been the happiest few months of my life. When you're at the office and I know you'll be home soon, I find myself getting excited. Waiting to see those wings sweeping through the air outside," she tells him.

She gives a quiet sigh, a hand moving up to caress his cheek. "Spending time together on a yacht like that would be wonderful. But I just need you to be happy," she tells him warmly.

Warren Worthington has posed:
As Kitty makes her way over, Warren sets down his utensils with a chuckle, slipping his arms around her waist as she settles in. "I'm happy right here, Kate. Just like this. I don't need the fancy dinners, or the extravagant vacations. I mean, sure, they are luxurious and nice to experience but all I really need to be happy is right here in my arms."

He leans up to place a quick peck of his lips to hers before lowering back down into the chair. "The rest is just icing. I just happen to be able to afford a ton of icing." He grins again, "It's settled then, I'll make the arrangements and charter the boat. Do you prefer a sailing yacht, or a motorized one?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
She snuggles in against the handsome man, leaving her arms encircling his shoulders and neck. "It is a lot of icing," she agrees, giving a quiet, warm laugh. "And I'm still not used to it. Which... I like. I don't want to get used to it. I want you to know how much it means to me when you do something like that," she tells him.

Kitty leans back to him to give him a slightly longer kiss than the soft peck. Her fingertips slide gently over his face as she looks at him with open admiration in her eyes. The fingertips turn into her palm and fingers, softly cupping his cheek as she leans in for another tender kiss.

The happy sigh that follows when the kiss ends does plenty to give voice to her feelings for Warren. "I guess... you know normally I'd say sail. But maybe a motorized one. I think if we're going to sail I'd like something smaller and more intimate, that we can sail ourselves," she tells him. She always did enjoy taking the school's sailboats out on the lake. "I'd like to fly with you and look down on the Aegean and the Mediterranean. Ibiza, the water was so beautiful. I can only imagine what it's like seeing it up from high," she tells him.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"We can do both," Warren says with a grin. "Just add sailing onto your preference sheet and they will make arrangements for us to take out a sailboat on one of the days. Seriously...you ask for it and they will provide it, not matter how redonkulous the request is. They want that tip at the end."

He reaches up and returns the cup to the face as the kissing continues, brushing his fingertips over her cheeks. "I think this will be a fun time, and I can't wait for some saganaki. I don't know what it is about they way they do their flaming fried cheese, but damned if I couldn't eat a ton of it." He pauses, looking to Kitty. "Saganaki is cheese that is fried, then doused in a high-proof alcohol before being set on fire and brought to you, then the flames are put out with fresh squeezed lemons. It's amazing."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a quiet, 'mmmm' sound as Warren describes the dish. "That does sound amazing," she tells him. Kitty closes her eyes and tilts her head into his touch, nestling her cheek against his palm. She's wearing her hair down today for the special evening, the brown locks streaming over her shoulders.

She lets her eyes drift back open and gazes over to Warren. "So we'll sunbathe and see some ruins. And sail for awhile. They probably have some places with decent surfing or wind surfing too," she says. "And snorkeling to see the fish. Oh, this does sound like a wonderful time," she tells him. "I did not get to spend much time in that area when I was living in Europe. Just a few a missions. Made it over to France and Germany, the Netherlands, more than the rest of the continent," she tells him.

Kitty leans closer, whispering something into Warren's ear.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren lets out a little chuckle as an mischievous smile edges on his lips. "Oh," he replies with a wink, "I'm sure that isn't something they aren't already used to seeing Kate." He leans up again and gives her another kiss, "I'm sure they may all talk about it in the crew quarters though, so it will have to be a good show." He winks again, leaning over to pick up his cocktail to take a sip.

"So, when do you want to go? I'll set it up as soon as you want."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty gives a warm little chuckle as she hears Warren. And maybe there's just a little bit of a blush to her cheeks. "Let' me see," she says, glancing around to see where she put her phone after turning the music on. It's not quite in reach from where she's seated in Warren's lap. "Moments like this I wish I could move things with my mind like Jean," she says, looking over and seeming to weigh the benefits of retrieving the phone, versus enjoying snuggling with the handsome X-man in his lap.

"Well, make the best of both worlds," she says. She whistles. "Lockheed? You can make up for the earlier bread knife in my back if you grab my phone for me!" The little dragon flaps his wings and lands on the kitchen island, apparently having had his own meal over there behind it.

Kitty points to where the phone is, and he flies over, grabbing it in his paw and then hovering with flaps of his wings to drop it into her hand. "Thank you boy," she tells him warmly.

Kitty pulls up her itinerary at work and works out with Warren when a good time would be to go. "I'm really looking forward to this. Thank you," she tells him, wrapping her arms back around his shoulders and kissing him.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"So am I," confirms Warren with a grin after he returns the kiss. "I can't remember when I actually took a vacation in the recent past, so this is something that we both will enjoy. Hell, if I thought I could get away with it I would just make plans to head out tonight, but unfortunately a charter like this doesn't work /that/ quick. I'd have to have my own boat on standby for something like that to happen."He gives a little glance towards the dragon, "He going to come with us, or do we give him the run of the place?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Lockheed looks back at the pair of them as if wondering the same thing. "Well. I suppose it he came with us it wouldn't exactly be a complete break of secrety," she says, a hand moving to gently brush over the lovely white feathers of Warren's wings. The crew will know there is a mutant on board after all. "Though if we put in to port somewhere he might have to hide while we're in port."

Kitty looks to the dragon. "That, or you could stay with Rogue and get fat on cheesy poofs," she says, reaching over to scritch his head, the comment about getting fat said with a grin.

The petting of the dragon ends and Kitty rises her feet. "Shall we dance we discuss?" she asks, offering the seated Angel her hand. "He'd probably enjoy the sun there. Much prefers the warmer weather and all."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington chuckles, shrugging a shoulder as he drains the last of his cocktail before setting the glass on the table. "The crew will be well compensated for their discretion as it it, so if we have to tack on a 'keep the alien dragon a secret' tip on top of that, so be it. Though for some reason I think he will be getting more positive attention than anything. The interior crew will probably love him and shower him with affection."$R$RWarren stands, taking the offered hand and walking with her to a more empty space in the penthouse, "At least he doesn't shed."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Of course, if they are sane people. Who could help but do otherwise with Lockheed?" Kitty says with a smile towards the little purple dragon. If life was a cartoon there would be little hearts raising from him at the moment.

Kitty rests her hand in Warren's, letting him lead over to where they have more room to dance. She selects a different playlist before setting her phone aside. A nice song for intimate slow dancing starts up, and Kitty moves to press against Warren, one arm going around his shoulder, the other hand staying in his.

"I suppose an NDA is pretty standard for someone like you renting a yacht like that anyway," she agrees. She rests her head on Warren's shoulder, basking in the feeling of dancing with him, and being pressed against the larger, taller man. "Mmmm... this is nice," she tells him, snuggling closer. "So anything particular you'd like to do while we're there too?"

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren shakes his head softly from side to side. "Nothing specific comes to mind, other than eating a gross tone of the aforementioned saganaki. Just relax, get some sun, enjoy the sights both on and off the boat and do the usual things you do on a vacation. The real question is do we leave out cellphones at home and try to run from any and all things that might come after us from work to having to save the world."

Warren slowly dance with Kitty, slipping an arm around her waist to pull her in closer as a flap of his wings takes them a few feet airborne before fluttering back down to the ground.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The man earns a laugh of delight from Kitty as Warren has her literally dancing on air for a few moments there. She clings to him happily, as if wanting to feel each inch of his muscular body against her smaller, softer form. "As enticing as going silent sounds, part of me would probably be worried and keep looking for ways to check in," she tells him. "I have a hard time unplugging that completely."

She gives a happy sigh. "I'm already looking forward to laying on the foredeck of a ship with you. Sun warming our skin. Taking turns rubbing lotion into each other..." she says, grinning. "You know I don't actually own a thong. I may have to pick on up," she says, flashing that smile at him. "If you'd like me to that is."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington chuckles, "Well, I mean I am not going to tell you no? Getting to see that dancer's ass of yours with nothing but a sliver of fabric wedged between it? Do you think I am crazy?" He kisses her forehead with a grin, "But as much as I might like those cheeks hanging out for me to stare at all day, it's not about me. It's about you and your comfort, hun. I'd be as happy with you wearing am old style 20's one-piece bathing suit. It would be a shame, for sure, but if that is what you want to wear it's your body."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets go of Warren's hand so she can have both arms around his shoulders. Her fingers move up into the wonderful golden locks of hair, teasing through them. "Well, you're taking me to the Mediterranean and renting a yacht, with a smaller sailboat. I think I can wear a little dental floss as a bathing suit for you," she tells him.

She leans up and presses a long, slow kiss to his lips. There's no hurry for the kiss to end. The music playing and their bodies still moving together in time to it. When finally that kiss does end, Kitty gives a happy sigh. "I love you," she tells him, gazing up into the man's deep blue eyes. "I'm thinking the hot tub tonight," she says with a smile, glancing towards it outside.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren grins again as his hair is ruffled, and at the mention of the dental floss, "Well it's not like I don't get to see it daily already you know, at least when we are not in public. I don't /need/ to see you in dental floss, it's just a perk. It'll just make the other guys jealous."

Warren follows Kitty's gaze to the hot tub outside then back, looking down at her with a smile, "I love you too. Shall I check to make sure it is on and hot? I mean it should be, but you never know."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde follows his gaze towards the hot tub. "You go ahead and start getting ready. I'll go check on it," she offers. Of course she's long since mastered the control panel for it. And is quietly working out in her head how to modify it so she can control it from her phone. But hasn't actually made any changes to it. Yet.

If that works for Warren, Kitty gives his lips another kiss before letting go. She walks over, wearing her dress, stepping through the glass floor to ceiling windows, and crouching down to check the temperature and settings. She makes an adjustment and then steps back through the glass to him. "All good," she says.

Warren Worthington has posed:
For his part, Warren starts to remove the suit jacket and tie and tossing the garments over the back of a chair as he starts to unbutton his shirt, "I figured. I tend to try and keep that thing ready to go. There is nothing worse than after a hard day wanting to go soak out there and then finding out you have it turned off and have to wait for it to heat up again. It takes forever."

Warren maneuvers his wings through the shirt as he takes it off, letting the linen join the jacket and tie, before wandering over towards the bar to make a another cocktail. "Did you want anything?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty tells him, "I warmed it up earlier, though not quite all the way. Just enough it wouldn't take too long if we decided to use it." Apparently she did have it planned out. "If needed we could always have Lockheed breath fire on the water," she says with a teasing grin.

As Warren goes to the bar, he gets a smile from Kitty, and she ends up with a thoughtful look as she contemplates a beverage. "How about an amaretto sour?" she asks. "A doub- make that a triple, so we don't have to come back in dripping for refills."

She begins unzipping her dress. "Though I might get tipsy," she says, glancing over at him with a coy smile.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"One triple amaretto sour coming up," confirms Warren as he goes to start making the drink.

The playboy smirks, looking back towards her. "Oh no! You might get tipsy...the horror of it all. What ever will we do if that happens?" His eyes stay focused on her for a moment as she starts to undress, and in a 'normal' fashion as well, not just phasing out of her dress. He lets out a low little wolf whistle, giving her a wink before turning back to his drink preparations.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde apparently had plans of the dress coming off as part of the evening, given the lingerie she's wearing beneath. She does give Warren a chance to oggle her in it before she removes it since it isn't exactly something one wears into the water. She moves over to Warren, leaning up to kiss just below his ear as he makes the drinks. "I'll see you out there," she says.

She brushes her hand down his back and then heads outside, stepping through the window rather than using the door, and then climbing into the water. She leans back, watching Warren through the window, a smile on her face.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren can't help himself, he just stares at the young woman, loosing his train of thought long enough so that the liquid he is pouring into the jigger overflows and snaps him back to reality as he curses to himself, grabbing a bar towel to clean up.

It doesn't take long for Warren to re-focus and fix the drinks, carrying them one in each hand towards the sliding glass door of the penthouse. With a practiced motion, he uses his hip to open the door, leaving it open as he brings the drinks out to set on the lip of the hot tub, "You're nothing but trouble, Pryde," he snorts as he shakes a bit of excess liquid off his hands as he moves back to the sliding glass door. "With a capital T."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty notices the spill, and her eyes light up with warmth. That warmth could come from her heart. What she feels for the man is so strong. Seeing his interest in her physically is as pleasing to her as the emotional support and comfort he provides her. Perhaps there was an extra bounce in her step then as she took those last few steps outside.

"And that rhymes with P and that stands for Pryde," she says, riffing off the Music Man. When Warren comes over to the hot tub, she reaches out to offer her hand to support him when he climbs in. Only once he's happily settled does she move over to sit in front of him and lean her back against his chest. She picks up the drinks, giving Warren's to his and taking a sip. She looks out at the city lights and gives a happy sight, guiding one of Warren's arms to hold her across her chest, her own arm resting atop his. "Perfect," she whispers to him.
