Bacon for the Soul
Date of Scene: 05 April 2021
Location: Joe's Restaurant and Cafe
Synopsis: Mo and Hank have dinner and nothing explodes. Really!
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Hank Pym

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan had suggested Joe's Cafe for dinner. In the end of things while she had tons of money, she liked simplicity. And bacon and eggs sounded really good. The redhead had gotten there just a bit early to secure a booth and something to drink. She was dressed from the day at school, black pencil skirt, a royal purple short sleeved shirt and her hair was pinned back from her face. She sits and reads over her phone as she awaits the arrival of one Hank Pym.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym shows up and struggles a few moments with anxiety outside on seeing the crowded restaurant. Bo was left at home with a few pieces of lumber. No service animal. No mall hand to hold his, clamp onto it like a vice and yank him in. No Mike. He pulls his camera up on his phone, looks himself over, then hits a button to see what the back of his head looks like. He smooths an errant lock.

The worries recede when he sees Mo. Much like Saeko, she is a calming presence. Unfortunately she is also the subject of his concerns. He looks at the small plain brown shopping bag in his hand a moment. Then swallows and soldier ants on.

"Evening Morrigan. You look lovely."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan looks up when she hears Hank and there's a smile, "Good evening, Hank." the Irishwoman states in a welcoming tone. "Have a seat and get comfortable. I know it's not the nicest place but they've got good food and it's a change of pace." she tells him as she slips her phone into her purse. She looks to see if he's got Bo with him and makes a mental note of things. "Bo keeping watch over the lab so kids don't mess with it?" she asks him with a smile.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym seats himself. "Bo was left in the school lab with a four by four beam. He may be making something for me. I'll see. Males don't usually do that but he is hardly a typical male. And I didn't want any distractions. I needed to talk to you about some things. I'm afraid I made an idiot of myself. I hope you won't take offense. If you do take offense... please berate me. You're so kind you'd let it slide and I would hate that." He sets the small bag carefully on the table.

"The thing is... (I knew something would happen) I professed interest in dating you. Sometime ago I was involved with a kitsune. We held hands. Kissed a couple times, said we'd try to take it further. Then she disappeared. Then I met you and may I say, wow. I would love to spend time with you but Saeko has suddenly returned and I am going to try dating her. At the very least. I don't like to split my attention. I am not a player... playah?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile when he talks on Bo and there is a nod to that, "Maybe he's building a desk or another book shelf. One can hope." she admits. Though her face does grow a bit serious when he starts to talk on him making an idiot of himself. The bag gets a look and then her eyes flick back to him.

She listens to what he says about Saeko and things. There's a bit of a nod to that, "Well, thank you for telling me." she states. "I'm happy for you, really." she adds with a smile. "I don't think that it's really filed under being a player. You had an interest in someone else. They came back and you picked things up. So nothing for me to be upset over really." she admits.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym sighs. "Thank you... I don't have a lot of friends. But when I find friendship... it develops very quickly. You may have noticed this... and we have a lot in common I think. Anyway. I brought you a present, another experiment. I used the errr samples you provided and tested them under sunlight, blocking various wavelengths. I came up with this." He rustles in the bag and removes a Claddagh talisman.

"I made this to slip in various pieces of jewelry. A couple chains, a thick-assed chain, a pin, a torc. Mike said the Claddagh symbolized friendship and loyalty. He... also got quite concerned about me giving you this in a ring as it symbolizes more and pointed out you were an Irish girl."

"I informed him I was aware of this and you were Irish enough to make him look like an Ainu tribesman. I have a couple of bands in there, but you can take them yourself if you wish. But let me try this... please allow me." Hank snaps the Claddagh into a receptacle on a chain, then gets up to fasten it around her neck. Oh. Hair. Honestly if he was ever bringing Morrigan to the Mircoverse, he'd have an awful time getting her in a pressure suit.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives him a smile, "Hey, friends are harder to keep with schedules and lives like ours. So I am here if needed." she explains. "Also, dating people that are very similar to us doesn't always work out. I think it's why I fell for Sam so hard when we dated and things." she admits. She quiets about that though and looks to the bag again curiously.

The talisman makes her quirk an eyebrow, "Oh yeah, I couldn't accept a ring like that." she chuckles. "Generally they are given as promise rings, sometimes engagement rings. So I can understand why Mike might have had a mini stroke over it." she grins at that.

"I like necklaces though." she muses. When he offers to put it on her though she obliges, coiling her hair around her hand and moving it for the moment, "It is really lovely though. Thank you for working on something for me." she offers with a smile.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym fiddles with the clasp, like most men would. He bites back a swear word then looks to see if its clear and shrinks to about 5 feet to work closer. "Ah got it. Well anyway... I have a couple of generic bands in there if you want to assemble your own ring. The point was to make it look like more than one piece of jewelry. Because it actually emits a forcefield that will block what I judged to be harmful wavelengths of light from you. Just tap it three times with your finger!" He goes back to take his seat. Quite forgetting the size change as he watches Morrigan's reaction. He frowns as the chair is higher than he remembered.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's patient, so she doesn't really mind him taking time to get the necklace clasped. "Thank you for being thoughtful of my...allergies." she muses to that. "I can test it out during our senior trip when it gets closer." she adds.

There is a waitress that comes over to bring a menu to Hank, the kids menu is on top. "Monday is kids night and they eat free, so it's a good time to get in before the other parents and their kids get in." she smiles. Then she looks to Hank, "Is your mom paying or are you?" she asks him in one of those obnoxious baby voices.

Meanwhile Morrigan is looking between them, waiting to see how this goes.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym looks at the kids' menu uncomprehending for a moment. Then it clicks.

"I'm paying for my mom. And I'd like a regular menu please." He says handing the kids' menu back. He gives a small shrug and returns to normal size. The server hands the menu over and retreats silently albeit quickly.

"You'd think she never saw a physicist in here. I was tempted to stay that way and order some chicken fingers but... too weird."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan lifts the menu that she has and laughs silently, shoulders shaking as she does. Then she composes herself and lowers it. "You'd think I wasn't that old looking, but here we are." she shrugs at that. "Well, since you're treating..." she states with a teasing tone to her voice.

"I don't think it was that so much as the shrinking. This place is still pretty normal compared to some. A bit like a 1950's sitcom." she points out. "Chicken tenders sound good. Just need some ketchup really." she nods to that.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym regards the silent laughter wryly.

"I don't see why you think it's funny. She thought you the mother of a forty year old man." He checks to make sure she's breathing before continuing.

"No, you do not look that old. You are quite youthful. Do you want to try it? You could get your tenders?"

"Anything above a fifty percent reduction is pretty harmless." He holds out a hand to her.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"And that's funny to me. It might not be to everyone else." Morrigan states with an easy smile. She had a sense of humor that most Doctors or highly intelligent people like her and him didn't always have.

"Life is too short not to laugh, but I apologize on that." she tells him. "Oh...shrinking? No, not right now. I think I'm just going to order the basket and anything left over can go home to Occam." she grins at that. Spoiled chunky cat. She does reach out to pat his hand though, "Maybe someday I'll do the whole shrinky thing. But not today." she smiles to that.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym takes her hand. "Don't apologize. It was funny. I couldn't adjust my height... not funny. It was like that for a while. Mostly due to the anti-depressants I'd been taking. My nervous system manipulates this huge field of Pym particles around me I tap into. But if you alter my nervous system, you alter who I manipulate those particles."

"It's a funny thing... I usually fought my battles a half inch tall but I never felt small. I was merely taking on giants. Same thing when I was a giant, everyone else was tiny. It's when I was stuck like just before or eight, 10 feet that I felt weird. I guess it wasn't enough change and I was still interacting with humans and feeling like a freak. Story of my life. One of the best days of my life was when my dad said to me, "Henry, never apologize for your intellect or hide it. Let them jeer and jape. They're jealous or scared." It was the only good advice he ever gave me."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Oh I wasn't laughing at you, Hank. I'd not do that. It's very rude." Morrigan tells him. "Will you be alright without your medications going forward?" she asks him quietly. There wasn't much reason to hide it, but she didn't want to cause embarrassment for a friend. Morrigan listens to him explain things though and there's a nod of understanding.

Some understanding at least.

"I didn't get to go to school with kids when I was little. Due to my sun allergies and things. I had tutors and teachers that came to the estate. I didn't really socialize until I went to Harvard, but, that was a whole different monster." she muses. "It's good advice though. Most don't know how to handle it either." she admits. "Though we do." she grins.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym keeps his hand on Morrigan, resting lightly on it, not grabbing it in a romantic squeeze, just showing understanding. He nods perhaps seeing some demons out of his past. "I was in college at 12. PhD by fourteen. Teaching grad school when I was 22. Married when I was 23." His voice catches a little. "You're extraordinarily well adjusted Morrigan. You're more than just well adjusted, you're nice. I'm glad I met you. I want to help with your allergy and your school."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a soft smile to the hand squeeze, "I can't imagine being married at 23. I can't really imagine being married at all given my luck, but, I'll find someone that wants to get hitched and try to have a semblance of normalcy." she grins to that. "My adoptive parents have always been very very good with making sure that I was socialized and things. Even if I couldn't go outside." she chuckles. "And I'm glad to have met you as well, Hank. We'll figure out the allergies and the school. We're already doing better than we were with both last year." she tells him.

"What do you want for dinner?" she asks him as she pokes his menu with her free hand.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym takes a look in the menu. Chicken tenders were out of the question, now. He scans the sheets quickly then raises his eyebrows. "Given the recent events here, I think I'll go with the jumbo shrimp." He nods sagely.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile to that, "Hey, shrimp are fantastic." she tells him as she settles her own menu down. That poor waitress is probably super confused and guess what, sometimes it happens! Morrigan orders her chicken tenders and fries with a milkshake to go with it. Because she's an adult! She thanks Hank again for the necklace and for being a friend before the waitress gets back with their dinner.

Nothing explodes!
