A Love Overdue Morning Layabout
Date of Scene: 07 April 2021
Location: Carter-Sousa Residence, Long Island
Synopsis: Peggy and Daniel share their first morning alone in their house since he appeared in the future. They remember why they are so very much in love.
Cast of Characters: Daniel Sousa, Peggy Carter

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel woke when the other agents did, it was hard not to with all those tromping boots coming in and out of the place loading gear into cars before driving away to Deleware while the house was left to him Peggy for the first time since he'd been back. After seeing the last SUV drive away, he closed and locked the door to the garage and made his way back to bed, tossing his cane on a chair before crawling back in under the covers next to his wife and kissing her cheek, "They're all gone," he tells her unsure if she's awake enough to hear him. "Left one of those phone things with a GPS to show us the way when we're ready to join them." Which would be awhile from now if Daniel had any say on the matter. For now he's just happy to enjoy the quiet of the morning alone with Peggy.

Peggy Carter has posed:
When he slipped out of bed, Peggy woke up just enough to give a little protest, but he was able to reassure her back into sleep fairly easy. She's still catching up on sleep debt and probably will be for another week or so anyway, she was so deep into the lacking hours of sleep from the last month and change. Besides, she still hasn't been feeling 100 percent, something she's fully willing to blame on sleep, but having someone there she trusts completely to have her back and keep an eye on things? It's been a relief. It lets her sleep truly deep for the first time in ages.

However, when he's coming back, her eyes drowsily begin to open again. She doesn't move to sit up, but she rolls over onto her side to clutch against him a ltitle closer and go back to stealing his warmth. Or, more so, inviting him back into the warm bed again so he can regain some of what he lost being out and about. "Mm... we... maybe should have gone with them... But having the house to ourselves sounds really... Quite... nice." She whispers against the corner of his mouth.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel was happy to let Peggy sleep while he saw the agents out, he could tell she needed it, either due to sleep debt or just emotional exhaustion Though when he returns he's just as happy to climb into bed and join her arms wrapping around her as he gets settled on the pillows, "It does doesn't it?" he smiles warmly, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. "And it's not like we haven't seen the place before, we'll catch up when we're ready to join them. Besides, not sure I'm ready for all the looks I'm going to get as is, not really looking to make my official return from the dead on Easter Weekend."

Peggy Carter has posed:
"Oh god. My mum would kill me. I didn't even realize it was. No, no... it's a holiday. We deserve a lie-in and a big breakfast while everyone else is off being good and going to church." Peggy mutters against his jaw, still half asleep and barely moved from her pillow other than when she wrapped against him again once he returned to the bed.

How absolutely naturally it came back to her just to be curled up in bed with him. She never expected it. Part of her thought she'd forget how to do this part -- all her other flings were not be tender in bed types. But here she is, easily back in his arms, fitting into all the corners and joints where she fit before. "...what time *is* it?...should I be getting up...?"

Daniel Sousa has posed:
"Mine too," Daniel says about his mother, though both of them were dead and gone to dust decades past now. "But I won't tell if you don't," he says. Daniel too had wondered how Peg would take to sharing a bed with him again, it had been a long time and that first night he'd been tempted to ask her if it would be okay if he did before the night took them there anyhow, sleeping in each others arms, a situation that had just continued without comment ever since.

"It's a holiday, the Agents are gone, it's still early, I think we can stay in bed as long as you'd like," he replies softly, happy to give her the excuse to stay right where she was, all wrapped in his arms. "I think you've earned it."

Peggy Carter has posed:
A husky laugh escapes her lips, "That was *not* an answer actually about the time. It's getting on in the morning, isn't it?" Peggy still has that military sense of obligation to be up with reveille in the morninng, though it's been a long while since she slept on a base with bugles. Despite that deeply, she remains curled against him, shifting her arm to wrap across his hips and let her fingertips find the skin at the small of his back. She's drinking up his warmth.

Her head then turns, burying her eyes fully into the crook of his neck to block out most of the morning light. "Maybe I can pretend it is not daylight." She did this often when they were together. It's why he normally was the one to make first coffee, tea, and breakfast. She might feel an obligation to be up in the morning, but she was NOT a morning person.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
"It might be," Daniel teases about the time, clearly enjoying Peggy's discomfort about not knowing when exactly it was. There's a smile as she wraps herself tighter around him, resisting that sense of duty that was spurring her to rise. "It's nine," he finally relents. "Lots of time for us to be lazy then catch up to the others," he promises. "Besides, you doing that isn't exactly going to encourage me to tell you things that are going to make you stop," he remarks, and that was before she buried her face in his neck. His scent there is a little different than she might remember it, thanks to modern shampoos and soaps, but basically him under all of that.

"It's not the lark but the nightingale?" he asks with a grin, paraphrasing lines from Romeo and Juliet, before turning his head and yawning. "That works for me, I know it's been nowhere as long for me as it has been for you, but I've missed this."

Peggy Carter has posed:
A deep laugh escapes her throat as he tries some Shakespeare on her. Romeo and Juliet, of all things. She gives him a little groan and rolls her head back just enough she can arch one brow and look up at him, despite squinting through the morning light. "Mm... really. *That* play? I think you had better lines when we were dating. Used them all up getting that ring on my finger, did you?" Peggy asks with a flirtatious, completely amused little grin. Then she's burying herself against his throat again.

"Maybe...ten more minutes. I've got a lot of years to make up for. Bad lines and all. Besides... this is a good step. The Playground is... safe. We've cleaned out HYDRA in our back yard... finally. We're... making progress. We can take a day off... right?" She's asking in a way of a woman who isn't fully convinced, who doesn't trust herself not to be biased and lazy about this, but she wants to stay in bed quite so badly. Her knee gently winds its way between his thighs, careful of his bad leg, but just entwining their forms further in bed.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel grins at the look he gets from Peggy saying, "I was making a poetic allusion to pretending it wasn't morning," he explains with a hint of laughter in his voice, before it takes on a more flirtatious tone. "When I'm giving you a line," he leans in and kisses her lightly on the lips. "You'll know it," he teases back before she burries her face against his throat and he lifts his chin a little to give her the space to do so.

He listens to her words, recognizing the sound of her having doubts about things, worrying about what is being left undone. Shifting to better entwine with him, having missed the feeling of her wrapped around him like this he tells her "You deserve this Peg," he tells her hand running through her hair. "This and a hell of a lot more, but a day together is a good place to start. May and the others they've got things under control."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Without him around for the decades, there's pretty much been no one to tell Peggy it's alright to stop. That she can take a day off work, that other people have it under control, and to calm the worries in the back of her head which are so constant -- especially with this many years of guilt. He can probably feel the faint inch or two of relaxation that comes through her body when he confirms that everyone else has it under control. She needed to hear those words. It helps. She turns her head a bit more so she can press a few kisses along his adam's apple. "...I'd say we both deserve it. You've been ripped through time after being on assignment out west after weeks with a screaming infant. We both need a break."

Then she gives another husky laugh, shifting herself upwards enough to look down to his dark eyes as she consider his previou words, "Mm... and have you thought of giving me a line lately? This is, after all, the first day we've spent alone in over a *month*.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel's chin rises just a bit higher as she kisses his neck. He can feel the relaxation in her body from his words, wondering how she had managed all these years with that sort of relentless drive pushing her onwards decade after decade. "True," he says about his week. "Let's not forget having to deal with Samberly when I was at Area 51," he jokes lightly about all he's been through.

Daniel pauses, his eyes fixed on hers, his brow furrowing as he pretends to think, "Maybe," he tells her, his hand brushing against her cheek, running over the little scars there without comment before his hand rests on her cheek and his eyes flick to her lips, "But I've come to a realize something, thinking about all our moments, my office back in LA, when I proposed... we're really our most eloquent when we stop talking," he says, before he kisses her long, needful and deep, letting that express everything he wants to say.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Part of Peggy had even forgotten about those faint burn scars, something she habitually covers any time she bothers to put on make up but she's not been bothering the last few days. It's just the faintest line down the left side of her face, but definitely new since the last time they saw each other. It might account for her faintly shorter hair, but she's been growing it out since the first chop so her curls are below her chin again, not too much shorter than their time together.

But the moment of self consciouness that flickers across her face when she feels his thumb against her new scars quickly melts away when he gives that line. Shame melts into a touch of heat and she's more than happy to dive into that kiss. In fact, the kiss and more. It really had been too long.

It's a good hour later when she finally collapses back next to him, breathing hard, her little bit of night clothing long gone and she *very* thankful there was no one else in the house. She gives a breathless, quiet laugh of enjoyment and then a long sigh, nose resting against his upper shoulder. "...haven't lost your touch." She mutters between shallow breaths.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
There's no judgement in his eyes when he touches those scars, just the sort of gentle concern he always had when she came home hurt from one mission or another all those years ago. Though that concern and those scars are both forgotten in favour of that line, the kiss and what comes after.

When they both colapse back onto the bed, Peggy's not the only one who's glad they're alone right now. His breathes are shallow as well he turns his head to face her, grinning. "Which part? The line, the kiss or what came after?" he asks, his usual humility giving way to the joyful teasing of the moment. And maybe also milking that compliment a bit.

Peggy Carter has posed:
The grin on his face is enough to draw a drowsy, happy one of her own in return. It's the most color he's seen on her since his return, her cheeks well flushed and skin slightly slick with sweat. Complete with being close to caught up on sleep, she looks far more like her old self. Minus those scars, of course. "Oh... all of it. What came after was... particularly excellent, though. I forgot how talented you are... With your hands." She huskily admits, her own palm now tracing lazily across his stomach. "The line was mostly up to snuff as well. I'd say it did the job." She winks at him warmly. Then her expression softens just a bit, the arm under her head stretching over to lazily play with his hair. "I suppose we really *are* taking a late morning now."

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel's grin slowly becomes a warm and pleased smile seeing Peggy looking more like herself than he's seen her since he's returned. Though when she replies her fingers first run over his firm stomach then move to play with his sweat dampened hair, he grins again. "Glad to be here to remind you," he says, leaning over to brush a brief kiss against her lips.

As for the late start to the morning Daniel, chuckles looking over at her "Well, give me enough time to recover, and I could be convinced to get up and get us breakfast in a bit, provided any other temptations don't come along."

Peggy Carter has posed:
The kiss is gently returned. Happily. Peggy exhales quietly, letting her eyes sink shut again for just a few moments as she savors the whole feeling. It's been a very long time since she felt this warm or relaxed. "This... still doesn't feel real, you know? I'm so damn scared every time I close my eyes you're... just going to disappear. That this has been some... dream." And she can't think about if they need to send him back. Though, of course, just trying to avoid the thought means she's had it, a new, faint tension through her frame. She tries to shake it off and kisses him again.

"We've got the whole house. If nothing else, we can... enjoy the afternoon too. But breakfast is wise, and checking in with the others. I can't remember the last time I ignored a phone for this long." And *work* is absolutely easier to think about needing to maybe send him back through that mirror.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel can sense that tension and when he does, he turns and takes her hand between both of his, and puts her hand to his heart. "I'm here Peggy, real and alive, and as far as I know, I'm not going anywhere," he tells her, still holding firm to the notion that somehow the universe had worked things out and that if he was here and there was a body back in '56 he maybe didn't need to go back.

He does smile, though at the thought of having the house and the day to themselves. He kisses her hand and lets it go. "How about I get us breakfast, you call in to work and then by the time we've eaten we'll have the rest of the day to do what we want."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Dark eyes reopen as she feels him press her hand to his heart. Her head turns and she looks ove to his gaze, smiling a bit softer. He really was still there. Peggy squeezes his hand back tightly, "I love you. And... Whatever happens, whether we have a few days or a few decades after all this, it... It will have been worth the world to have you back. I'll take every minute I can get."

She leans up to kiss him one more time and then, quite reluctantly, begins to gently peel herself out of that bed. She pauses, leans in to kiss him once more, and then does get up. She pulls on her robe first before moving to grab her burner phone. She still looks mussed and flushed, but she's slowly getting her work face back on.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel feels Peggy's hands squeezing his own but her words have his thoughts drifting back to that conversation with May and how uncertain his future her really was, still he pushes it aside to put on a brave face, "I am hoping for the later myself, but whatever happens I'm glad I'm here with you Peg."

Daniel watches her go lazing in bed a moment longer, before he rises himself, pulling on some clothes before heading to the kitchen to get started on the rest of their day.
