Big Trouble in Little Odessa
Date of Scene: 10 April 2021
Location: Brooklyn
Synopsis: Rule One of Observing Criminal Wildlife - Don't get too close to the
Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Hyperion, Yaretzi Acama, Koga Miura

Peter Parker has posed:
If you want to set up a stakeout, find a photographer.
J. Jonah Jameson had growled, "We're going to be doing an expose on the Russian Mob. They all seem to hang out in Brooklyn. Find that upstart Parker, he seems to know the names and faces!"

An hour later, Peter Parker is sitting on a bench near the church, which happens to have a pretty good view of the strip of street that hosts a slew of businesses, where you can get a loan using your car as collateral, or a proper Chicken Kiev, or a membership to a boxing gym.

He checked his phone. The new guy was supposed to show up, and Peter had come sufficiently armed...with a large bag of sliders, fries, and drinks from White Castle.

Hyperion has posed:
New guy. Yeah. Why the heck would a cartoonist be sent on a newsworthy stakeout anyway? IT doesn't really seem to make sense. But then again, J. Jonah Jameson doesn't always- make- sense.Sometimes it's about what his gut tells him. Other times it is about whatever will make Spider-Man look bad, whether it's true or fabricated.
Today, it's a weird combination of not trusting the new guy, and -also- not trusting Peter. So of course... put the two of them together. That way if and when things drop into the pot, he can blame them both in one fell swoop.
But Mark is a big guy, so when he does arrive, it's difficult to miss. His lightweight button down long sleeve shirt worn over a teeshirt and tucked into a pair of simple blue-jeans looks about as generic as can be. The reddish hair stands out though. He looks down at his phone for the address once more, then glances up to confirm it. Investigative reporter he is not. Subtle he is not.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi, as it turned out, had the day free from familial entanglements as well as studies, so she decided to head out and 'patrol' as Golden Eagle -- because heroes are supposed to patrol, she thinks, like in the comic books.

However it actually works, Golden Eagle's flying along, fairly high up over the area -- using her 'eagle vision' to see what's going on below, in case there's a need for her to swoop down and intervene. So far, it's been very quiet. As she flies along, too, she spots a familiar face, Peter, sitting on a bench. A bit bored, with how quiet her patrol's been so far, she comes down and finds a secluded spot in an alleyway nearby, where she transforms back to her civilian guise and heads on over.

"Heya, Peter!", she calls out as she comes near.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter spots Mark immediately.
Why a cartoonist? Well, JJJ is about to do a big expose on the mob in Little Odessa and he's going to want artwork of the major players instead of photos for illustrations in the article (and, leave us not gild the lily, editorial cartoons and caricatures).
The guy's a little...obvious. He sends Mark a text.

<The bench 40 feet behind and to your left. When you come over, apologize for missing me at White Castle.

A second after he sends the text, he blinks at the familiar voice. He looks up and spots Yaretzi. He hasn't seen her in awhile, but he has heard about Golden Eagle. Seems she is keeping busy.
He DID bring enough for three, but he had been keeping an unseen third person as part of the "story" if anyone asked. But since there is a third person...it could still work...

"Hey there, stranger. You're early."
Play along, Yaretzi, play along...

Hyperion has posed:
Eyes on his phone, MArk almost jumps when it vibrates in his hand. It's almost like it was a snake that surprised him by trying to bite him. I mean come on, when he does an investigation, he just turns on the hyper-senses and goes to work. Why not super senses? Well, when your name is Hyperion, everything is Hyper because of trademark laws. Okay that's a bit silly.
Either way, he narrows his eyes and looks at the phone... the screen just a bit cracked from his surprised clench of his hand. He sighs and shakes his head before actually reading the text.
A thought goes through his head . . o o O O (White Castle? We never.. I Wasn't... oh I think I get it!) And he turns to look that way before strolling on up looking hopelessly like someone trying REALLY hard to look casual, and failing. "Parker." he says, "Missed you at White Catt... Castle." he says, flubbing even that simple thing.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi looks surprised for a moment... "Oh... uhm... Yeah! Sorry! I kinda finished up what I was doing sooner than I thought I would!", she says. "I guess I forgot to text, first, before I came over?", she adds.

She moves over to sit on the bench next to her friend. "What's up? Just hanging out or something?", she asks, as she claims herself a spot to sit.

Then someone else shows up, calling Peter by name, and the teenager looks up... and up... and her eyes widen a bit. "Holy moly, you're /big/!", she comments up at Mark, at least a little willing to simply accept someone else who seems to know Peter, even if the man called him by last name, instead of first.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter sighs. It's kinda odd to be the "pro" at this sort of thing.

He stands up, shaking Mark's hand. "Don't worry. Just have a seat." He turns and smiles to Yaretzi. "Nice to see you made it. Have a seat, I went ahead and got food."

Peter waits for them to sit before settling in himself, handing a tall cup of soda to Mark and Yaretzi. He lifts his up to his lips, as none of them have straws for some reason.

"If you want to talk about what we're doing here, lift your drink like this to hide your mouth. Otherwise, we are friends and you two are from Jersey, so I'm showing you the sights. That conversation you don't have to hide."

He lowers his cup, then says, "I thought you two might like visiting the fabled Brighton Beach, made famous by notables like Neil Simon."
Lift cup. "Yaretzi, I'm showing Mike a few of the local Mob guys in Little Odessa. If you want to stay and listen, you're welcome to."

Koga Miura has posed:
And into this mess comes a walking asian looking man. He was mostly just wandering along. The strange part would be for those that follow the news, Koga Miura has been seen a bit here and there in New York. Particularly in the up and coming racing scene. Rather young for it, the young man was still pretty good at what he did for a living. And that had lead him to Brooklyn today. Well, not exactly work related.

Still, if one watched the news and racing events he was one of the noticeable ones. And he was making that way along. He had left his motorcycle with his bus at the moment. That being said he was also looking at a newspaper, specifically in the ads section from the looks and a few circled as he looked around for where he was. Looking a bit curious as he seems to be lost, and even GPSing off of his phone doesn't seem to help, Koga heads for the nearest ones that might know something.

"Ah, excuse me?" He asks upon approaching the trio, "I apologize, but I am looking for some specific addresses? I am house hunting, and my GPS is not helping me much at this time."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi accepts the cup, looking a bit confused. She takes a very little sip before setting it down. She looks a bit nervous, especially after that LAST thing Peter said. "Uhm... wow, yeah. Notables!", she says before, almost hurriedly, picking up the cup for a fake sip from it. "Uhm... should I go if you're doing work stuff?", she asks, from behind the container.

Then, someone else is talking to them, asking about addresses. She -totally- wasn't expecting this, and she startles a bit, even giving a little yelp. She -almost- loses her handle on the cup full of soda she's holding in both hands, too!

Hyperion has posed:
Looking at the cup for a long moment, Mark takes it and shrugs, "Mark." he corrects Peter, "Not Mike. Mark." He grins a bit and shrugs, "So, you'd think our illustrious employer would send investigators, not... well okay maybe a photographer makes sense. I draw funny papers, cartoons... sometimes political, sure.."
But then his eyes slide towards Yaretzi and his brows lift. Then he looks to Peter and all of his senses focus on the two of them. Who was this girl and why was she drawn into this? It doesn't make sense to him.
But he lowers his cup and says, "I haven't been in Brooklyn before, no. Mostly stuck to uptown locations growing up." he ad-libs with a bit too much effort spent trying to sound casual. (Feel free to roll the eyes any time!)

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter blinked. Okay, this got busy fast. Work it through, one at a time.

Peter leaned forward. "Well, I know a few places around here, maybe I can help. What are the addresses?"
As he waits for the new arrival, he says almost conversationally, "Yaretzi, calm down. As I said, you can stay and listen if you wish." He glanced to Mark. "You can try disagreeing with Jameson. I'll be in the outer office, hiding behind the desk, taking pictures for the evidence file." He looks past Koga for a moment. "Okay, guy with the bald head and the mustache, Fyodor Kenchov. Handles the Ukranian Mob. Mostly deals with pills and powders. Small, but knows enough of the right people to keep from being eaten by the bigger fish..."

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga blinks, then looks at Peter carefully, then Mark, then Yaretzi. He offers the newspaper towards Peter, "The ones I have circled, please? Or the nearest one?"

Sighing, he lowers his voice, "So... reporters or police? If it's the latter, I feel bad for being here." He keeps his face where hopefully others won't see it, and passing individuals won't be curious at all. "Nothing wrong with either, and I am not... ah... Yakuza, I guess?" He shrugs.

Hyperion has posed:
"I've seen super heroes and super villains in New York. But in all of that, Jameson scares me more than any and all of them combined." admits Mark. But he sits down and nods his head. "Should I be sketching now?" he asks as he takes another sip of his soda. It's a bit too sweet for him, but he can handle it.
"So, if I combined his baldness in some sort of tuna drawing, showing the food chain... him preying on others and in turn being preyed upon?" he asks.
And then he glances up towards Koga, lifting his brows. Once again, his senses focus on the subject before him, and he shrugs his shoulders. "Good to meet you sir. I must admit, this is my first time in this neighborhood. I wish that I could help more."
But he holds a hand out, "My name is Mark." he offers, trying to at least be polite and civil. That's a lot less forced than any attempt to be sutble.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi nods and takes an actual sip from her soda cup, before putting it back down. She remains silent, though she -does- do a fairly good job of glancing Fyodor Kenchov's way; Koga's presence in front of the bench she sits on next to Peter helped -- she looks at, then past him, to look at the mobster, after Peter's given the description.

Then, the teenager she is appears. "You have some of those for us?", she asks of her friend, Peter, while pointing at the bag from White Castle. She eyes Koga, too, as the man speaks about the yakuza... but seems to decide to let others talk to this guy, even as she's reaching for the bag of sandwiches.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckled to Yaretzi. "Help yourselves. There are single and double sliders in there, take what you like..." His head swivels to mark, then says, "Better not. They see you drawing, someone will come over and ask to see it. They will be rude about it. Just mark the names and faces for later research."
He looks at the newspaper Koga is holding, then nods. He's seen these places, some of them from 100 feet up. "This one's two blocks east of us, but don't go there. The owner's in deep with the Serbian Mob, and he's a slob on two legs. This second one is one block north of the subway station, but they tend to slack on repairs unless you threaten to call the Housing Commission. Hmmm...yeah, this third one's pretty good...three blocks north, one east. But if you want a good cheap place, try the one called Arkangel Apartments. Rent's firm, but it's very clean."

He takes out a slider, slipping it out of its little cardboard box and chows down.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Uhm... I know there's apartments available in East Harlem", Yaretzi adds to the conversation with Koga, as she pulls out a sandwich... which she first offers over at Mark before simply claiming for herself. "The Taino Towers", she adds, looking up at Koga. "I heard my folks talking about how some of the single units were open. I think they're pretty reasonably priced..."

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga nods, "Oh, I can definitely cross that one out." He pulls out a pen and does so. "Hm... third one's definitely the one I want to look into, and you said Arkangel Apartments and Taino Towers?" He turns the paper so he can write those two down.

"Thank you... ah... I am Koga Miura." He offers a hand towards Peter, obviously for a handshake. And does the same for Yaretzi.

Hyperion has posed:
"From what I understand, not -every- living area in Brooklyn is under the thumb of some dastardly moustache twirling villain." says Mark. But he shrugs and takes the slider from Yaretzi. His eyes flicker over across the street and he mutters, "I work best with actual visuals. Don't suppose you're getting any shots I can use?" he asks Peter.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter finishes his slider, holding up his hand to shake Koga's. "Peter. Pleased to meet you, Mr. Koga."
As he lowers the hand, he says pleasantly, "I've got the camera drone I use for the pictures I USUALLY take, running a timed-picture algorithm. You probably won't see it, but it's in position."

Mark would be aware of what Peter means - most people in the Bugle knows he's the one who gets the best pictures of Spider-Man.

He looks past Koga and blinks. "Well, well, well...looks like Crazy Ivan got out of the gulag, after all. Ivan Petrovitch, AKA Crazy Ivan. Handles the Russian mob, but until now, he did it from prison. Wonder how HE got paroled?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
The teenager accepts the offered hand after Peter. "Yaretzi", she says, in reply to the introduction. She then snags a sandwich for herself, unwrapping it to take a bite. When Peter speaks again, she looks up and past Koga, then back up at Koga, to hide that she look at look at Crazy Ivan. Chewing for a bit, and sneaking another look at the newly-identified Russian mobster, she lifts her drink cup for a drink. "... should I go upstairs and just keep an eye out for trouble, let ya know if I see anything?", she says behind the cup, before actually taking a drink from it prior to setting it back down.

Hyperion has posed:
"Upstairs?" asks Mark. He tilts his head... eyes flickering up and back a bit before he nods, "Right. Gotcha." he states before he just settles back in his seat. "So Mister Koga, or was your name Americanized?" he asks, "Forgive me, I am rather ignorant of Japanese culture, and I do not wish to offend. But I just wanted to ask what brings you to the area?"
"I mean other than the publicized stuff I've seen in the Bugle."
His eyes slide to Yaretzi quickly and then slide away once more. He's not ignoring her. He just doesn't know her. He does know that she knows Peter and so he accepts that she is here as a friend of his work-colleague. But other than that, he doesn't know much about her. But he'll get to her interrogation soon enough!

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga smiles, "Americanized. Miura is my family name. I am used to being called 'Mr. Koga' lately. And it makes me feel better than going by 'Mr. Miura'. I keep looking around for my family." He shrugs.

"Well, traditionally we put our surname first, but I am international as far as my racing career. So, I became used to the more Western uses as I travelled around when I hit the big time."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter smiled gently to Yaretzi. "Don't worry. I think you'd draw more attention going to roof-level. Besides, these are the bigshots. Causing trouble out here in broad daylight is the work of leaders who can't control their business, and that is a sign of weakness." He takes one more sip, then gets another double. "Sorry about the distraction, Mr. Koga. But we're sort of on an info-gathering thing. But if you keep your compusure and keep talking to us normally, it should be fine."

Hyperion has posed:
"Ah, well however you are comfortable being referred to or spoken to." A pause, and Mark wracks his brain, "Racing. Oh, Racing!" he admits with a smile. "Forgive me if my cartoons might've made out any of the racers as being silly. But... cartoons are intended to be silly." he offers before taking another bite of a slider and turning to look to Yaretzi. "I would guess that you are a student. Do you have a specialty or focus in your education?" he asks.
Then he looks to Peter, taking a sip of his drink as he speaks, "Can you email me copies of whatever pictures you might have on hand when we're done here? I'll get some sketches worked up."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Nodding in response to Peter, Yaretzi takes another bite of her sandwich, then looks over at Mark as he speaks, too. "Uhm... I'm studying computer tech stuff. I think I want to go into an I.T. field of some kind, but I haven't really decided if I want to do programming, security, networking, or whatever", she says, after clearing her mouth, and before taking another drink. From behind her cup, she asks, "Is that lady in the suit, all the way in the back, someone special?", of Peter, before actually taking a drink of her soda.

Looking back up at Koga, she then questions, "Do you have your own race car?"

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga shakes his head, "Motorcycle. I decided to walk today. Motorcycles are flashy and mine is pretty noticeable, and well... sometimes us celebrities like to have a bit of peace and quiet."

He shrugs, "And I do not mind sticking around to help a bit." He looks to Yaretzi. "Oh? You know, some of the cars these days have programs to help us out or warn us if something goes wrong and it senses it. Wheel blow outs, spark plugs, and other problems."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter takes a quick glance, no more. He sips his soda and says, "Yes, ma'am. Good eye. That's Katerina Petrovitch, Ivan's daughter. Also his lawyer, a real barracuda in the courtroom. Daddy's Little Consigliere. Was relaying Daddy's orders from prison."

Peter pauses, then says to Mark without directly looking at him, "I'll see you get them. Figured you'd want to see them live, just in case. Get a feel for them."

Truthfully, he was pleasantly surprised at how well Koga's presence was helping. His Spider-Sense had begun to buzz unpleasantly as the three of them started talking, but Koga's presence had defused the interest in them.

Hyperion has posed:
"Right. See the way they move. That can give ideas on how to draw it just right too. If he walks like a big bulldog, or shimmies like a fish. You know." offers Mark. But he lowers his cup and nods to Yaretzi. "Well, you are certainly on the road towards a lucrative career. Me? I'm lucky if I operate a computer for more than a half an hour before I am calling IT and begging them to fix it somehow."
But then Mark reaches into a pocket and pulls a small notepad out. He always has something for sketching.... and he holds it out towards Koga with a pen and a raised pair of brows, "May I have you sign for me?" he asks... trying to make things fit in better.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Nodding her head in reply to Koga's words, Yaretzi says, "Yeah. Lots of electronics in modern cars... in just about everything these days, actually", she adds. Even as Mark's offering up a notepad to Koga, she asks, "What kind of bike is it?"

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga nods, taking the notepad, "Not a problem." He signs it, both in English and Japanese kanji before handing it back to Mark. The bike question has him raising an eyebrow, "Versys 1000. Modified it a lot."

He shrugs, "Top speed is around... hm... kilometers to miles... 150 or so? And I can reach... 60, I think? In close to three seconds. The math on this always seems to get me."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nodded thoughtfully, picking out another slider. Maybe...

Then that little tingle that says SO much. Why was his Spider-Sense...
"Greetings, Mr. Parker." That had come to their left. Well, looks like distraction runs both ways.

Peter looked up to see two men standing to the side of the park bench, right behind Mark. Okay, that explains why he didn't see them coming.
"Uhm, excuse me?" Peter asked, startled.
"Mr. Petrovitch wishes to speak to you. ALONE."
"Yeesh." Peter stood, looking apologetically to the others. "S'okay if they stay here? I was going to show them the boardwalk later. Friends from out of town."

The big men moved to flank him, and the first speaker said, "Will not take long."
Peter smiled apologetically. "Uhm...I'll be right back." And with that, he started walking across the street, the two men flanking him.

Hyperion has posed:
Lifting a hand and looking for all purposes like some bumpkin as he gives a goofy grin, Mark says, "Hello! Want a slider?!" and he reaches down to pick one out before holding it out to the speaker. And yes, he is doing his best to make the guy dismiss him as a nobody.
But then when Peter moves off, he wilts a bit before he shrugs and decides to eat it himself. Now he focusers his ears, listening intently to whatever is going on between Parker and Petrovich.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi's eyes get wide... and she pretty much freezes with her sandwich held just shy of her mouth. She turns her head to watch as Peter is led away. "Uhm... maybe I should be going...?", she wonders aloud to Mark and Koga. "That was kinda scary!", she adds, setting aside her almost-finished sandwich as she starts to get to her feet... fully intent on hurrying away to find some place out of sight so that she can get into the sky as Golden Eagle, to watch from above in case the heroine is actually needed.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga watches where Parker is taken. An aside to Mark, "So... what do you do whenever this happens?"

He seems to consider, then smiles a little. "I think I'll be right back." He moves to follow them. At a very considerable distance.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter sits down carefully, then looks up into Ivan's smiling face. It was supposed to be good-humored, but all Peter can think of is the shark from JAWS.

"Parker. Is Jameson well?"
"Uhm...pretty much the same, Mr. Petrovitch." He sounded a little nervous.
Ivan grinned even wider. "Dat bad, eh" He laughed. "You should get better job, Parker. They make you chase costumed busybodies for dirt pay." He glanced to the bench.
"...Who are they?"
"Friends of mine. Was showing them the beach. Grabbed food from..."
"Yes, yes, I know. Dirt food, but you eat like raven anyway." He shakes his head. "You should come by my restaurant. Hustle like yours, you make good WAITER!" Another laugh.
"Is...there something I can do for you, sir?"
Ivan looked to Katerina, whose expression hadn't changed an iota since he sat down. "COURTESY. Lost art, this is. In Moscow, everyone polite."
Katerina spoke. "Mr. Parker, we will be brief. We know of your association with Spider-Man. We are notifying you that we will take action against him should he...get involved in any of our enterprises."
Peter had to smile at that. "Are we talking a cease-and-desist order or something? Good luck with that. Not like you can find him and serve him."

Ivan's grin grew practically FERAL as Katerina says patiently, "We're not concerned about that. We know how to find YOU. 20 Ingram Street, Forest Hills, Queens, correct? Just you and your aunt, May Reilly Parker."

Peter stopped smiling.

Hyperion has posed:
Eyes narrowing, Mark maintains smalltalk about racing, asking about the last race Koga was in. But he's listening and does not remotely like what he is hearing. So he hatches a plan to find Spider-Man when he is out with his cape on. To let him know that he should feel free to pursue these... miscreants while he watches over the woman living at 20 Ingram Street.
Yep, that's his plan. But he snaps out of it and turns to Yaretzi. "I think it would probably be safe for you to depart, but... I would hate to see anyone harmed because they were alone when remaining in a group could be safe as well."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I'm gonna go!", the teneager says in reply to Mark.

Hurrying away, Yaretzi finds her way into an alley. After ducking down between a pair of dumpsters, and checking carefully to make sure no one's watching or following, she says, "Cuatli!"... and there's a flare of light between the dumpsters.

When the light fades, Golden Eagle darts straight up into the sky out of the alley and, from high enough that she'd probably be difficult for a normal person to see, looks down at the restaurant into which Peter's been led -- with her superhuman vision, she's able to see easily enough into the area, although she can't see through walls or hear what's going on that far away.

Hovering in place, she waits and watches... and hopes her friend comes back out, safe.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga, meanwhile, decides to not be so subtle. He folds up the newspaper and sticks it in his pocket. Then he looks to Mark. "Excuse me. I believe I will go check up on our friend." He breaks off the small talk on racing. And heads towards where he can see Parker.

And yes, Koga is boldly heading right that way. Completely, utterly in the open. And doing so in a way that is obvious as broad daylight that he is heading that way. The questionable thing is why, of course, but that he also pulls out some sunglasses and puts them on as well is very much out there as well.

Perhaps it's a Japanese thing, but Koga's walk seems to change as well. Before he was just casual. Now? Well... it's almost like a predator with Ivan in the sights of Koga himself.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter looked at Ivan for a long moment. In that moment, he thought about how easy it would be to push his face in with one punch, knock Katerina's block off, and throw the two Russian bullyboys through the plate-glass window.

So easy. It just means crossing that one...line.

*NEVER. NEVER in LIFE.*

"...May I go now, Mr. Petrovitch?"
Ivan never lost that wide smile. "I tell you, truly refreshing! Katerina, you should date him! VERY polite!"
Katerina's measured calm face and voice did not change. "I do not find poor failures attractive, Father."
Ivan shrugged. "As so. Goodbye, Mister Parker. Tell your Spider-Friend that I will do what I must..."
Peter suddenly felt something else, something powerful and dangerous coming right towards them. He shot up out of the chair, causing the thugs to reach under their designer coats. "Uhm...gottagothanks!" he blurts out, and then heads for the door. No one stops him.

Peter suddenly appears through the front door of the restaurant, startled as he nearly power-walks right into Koga.
"Uhm, sorry...sir, Mr. Koga, we need to get out of here, NOW..." he whispers quickly. His nerves were jangled by the sudden swell of the Spider-Sense. It was like standing next to a power line with the insulation sheared away.

Hyperion has posed:
Picking up on Peter's change in behavio, pulse rate, etc... Mark swallows his last bite of slider and expands his senses outwards. Maybe Peter picked up on something? So he's doing his best to figure out what that is. In fact, he turns off the damper that Reed Richards invented for him, as a way of limiting his powers so that they would not overload his body. His senses rachet up off the scale and he grimaces as the headache starts. But... yeah. Hyper senses become HYPER SENSES. Yeah, it's like he hears everything in CAPSLOCK now.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Up in the air, Golden Eagle descends and lands on the corner of a rooftop across the street, putting her about four stories overhead. Though she landed lightly, easily -- as only one who's fully accustomed to the power of flight can do. Still, she shifts her feet a bit, and crouches. "You okay down there, Peter?", she mutters to herself.

Of course, down below, someone with super-hearing ... or even hyper-hearing... could easily have heard the familiar name being spoken by a completely unfamiliar voice -- especially if the filters just came off that hearing power.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga smiles, patting Peter on the shoulder. "I saw. Go on. And do not worry." He pauses, looking back towards where Mark and the park bench is, then at Peter. "Tell your friend to not worry about it as well, please?"

He gives a pat on Peter's shoulder, then actually moves to head into the restaurant itself. Perhaps it's just the way, but it's hopefully comforting towards Peter.

And indeed, once in the establishment, Koga pauses only to look and actually case out the situation. The possible people that are armed, and others that might be a problem in the long run. Then he's just casually walking towards Ivan. With that whole demeanor that says 'dangerous' just a bit. The asian man's otherwise just perfectly fine.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter looks to Koga as he enters the restaurant. Had the guy lost his mind?

He glances back to Mark as he approaches the bench. "Hey, Mark. We need to get going. Yeah. Did Yaretzi go on ahead? Oh, no, that works fine..."
His voice was going a mile a minute, which makes sense. His state is perfectly clear to anyone looking at him. He's SCARED.
"Uhm, let's get moving, shall we?" He picks up the bag, and more-or-less sweeps the empty slider boxes into the nearby trashcan as he heads towards the north, where the subway station can be found two blocks down.

In the restaurant, Ivan smiles broadly to Katerina. "I should always trust your judgment. Yes...impoverished little people will never measure up to you." Ivan chuckles like the Russian bear he resembles, then looks to the doorway as the two bodyguards observe the Asian fellow as he enters. Another two men step in front of Koga as he gets within ten feet of the table. "Private meeting," one of them says.

Hyperion has posed:
Not to mention the friction of the foot against the rooftop material. Mark's eyes flicker upwards until he spots Golden Eagle. A pause and he nods his head to himself just a bit. Good, Peter has top cover. This hero seems to know him too. Probably due to his relationship with the hero Spider-Man. I mean, anyone who Jameson hates so much has -got- to be a good person. That's what he thinks.
But then Koga steps inside, and Mark mentally facepalms. He turns his eyes back that way and zooms in to observe still. This is not his Earth, but even -on- his Earth, he knew better than to approach alleged criminals who there is no proof of criminal activities in broad daylight and make a move against them.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga raises an eyebrow. He looks at the two suits, then at Ivan. Then smiles, "Oh, I assure you this is. So, my only question is this. Do you plan to move, or do you want to see what happens if you do not?"

He tilts his head one way, then the other. Sizing up the men in suits. "After all, I am only here to talk. Maybe threaten a little. I like to think that my kind looks after their own. I do intend to do that, but would prefer such to be... peaceful."

He raises a hand to move his sunglasses a bit, looking at the two with eyes that probably would look better on one of their enforcers, or someone who's maybe done a lot.

"But, if you wish it not to be, I could easily do so. I mean, it is only six guns against an unarmed man." That smile never leaves his face, either. It's as if he is actually enjoying the danger, the thrill of this.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Perched across the way, Golden Eagle keeps watching... mostly over Peter himself, but also over the area in general -- in case something goes down. She can see that Peter looks... frightened, it seems, and she plans to follow after him if he leaves.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter makes it as far as the small abandoned lot halfway there before stopping and looking behind him.

What the heck was going on back there? It felt like he was sandwiched between the Green Goblin and the PUNISHER back there. He looked around. He had a bad feeling Spider-Man might be needed, but where was he going to suit up?

Meanwhile, in the restaurant, five armed men and one armed woman watched Koga carefully. Ivan frowned, but held up a hand and the two guards moved aside. "A friend of Parker's?" He sighs. "Say your little threats and leave, little man."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle watches for a bit, worried at that Koga went into the place... but Peter's leaving. She eventually lifts off the rooftop and arcs through the air after her friend, tracking him with her vision until he stops in the parking lot -- and comes down to land. "Are you okay, Peter?", she asks, straightforwardly.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga continues to smile, "Oh, I do not plan on leaving. You see... I am not a friend of Parker. I literally just met him and the other two. But you see, I have a small problem."

He looks at Ivan, "I happen to like those three. They were helpful. So, in turn, I plan to help them a bit. The question I am faced, is how?"

He looks thoughtful, even moving to hold an elbow and rub his chin. Then he checks for security cameras and other things that might actually ID him. Serious things. Even the wait staff.

"But you see, like I said... my kind like to protect our own. And I imagine that you do not have that sort of mentality? I mean, I have little understanding of Russian culture other than the very old ones." Koga says.

Sighing, he moves to sit down, "I do admit to being bored of this a little. I thought for sure your men would try to stop me. I did want to break their arms and see if I still knew how to dismantle a gun in a few seconds. Perhaps even get a chance to show why I am not afraid of you, Ivan."

"So, I am asking a few questions instead of making the threat. What is your interest in Parker, what did you threaten, and do you plan to back off or does this have to turn into your grave?"

Hyperion has posed:
Sighing, Mark just stands up and collects his trash. Well all of the trash really. He deposits it in the recepticle nearby and turns to stroll off. Once more, much like others, he is simply searching for a place.... too bad there aren't phone booths anymore.
But he spots a dumpster in a nearby alley and suddenly he vanishes from where he was walking, and deposits his street clothes under a box by the dumpster before lifting skywards in a lazy arc that will bring him down near Eagle and Peter. But for now, he is still above, descending slowly. After all, things may get even more chaotic... and he might be needed. But a black bodysuit and golden cape might draw attention, yep.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter blinks as he sees Golden Eagle, there. He is encouraged, but there's still that...element of mayhem.

"No...no, I'm not. That guy is a fricking COSSACK, and he'll go Tsar Bomba if he is being threatened, and I felt something...SCARY go in there while I was leaving. Like it was an AURA around that guy Koga. What the heck does a racecar dri..."

And then that is when the large, powerful, broad-shouldered Hyperion descends and Peter's eyes go wide. He has no idea who this guy is, but he practically radiates force multiplier.
"...AND I think it's escalating..." he finishes. "Uhm...pardon me for asking, but who are you?"

Meanwhile, Ivan is staring down Koga.
At least Parker, that nosy little insect, was POLITE.
"Here is your answer, whoever you are. My Business. None of Your Business. And, for your last question, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. Now, go away. You've already disturbed my meal."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle looks up as Peter does, following his gaze. She arches a brow as she sees Hyperion coming down to land. "You're... you were with the Avengers for a while, but I don't recall your name", she says. Then, looking over at Peter, she adds, "I honestly don't recall his name, but he's a hero, based on those exploits of his I've seen on television", with a gesture at the hero. "... and a powerful one, I think...", she concludes, hands falling to her hips.

Then, another aside to Peter, "Your girlfriend made it successfully to mass transit, by the way. I thought you might like to know."

Hyperion has posed:
Lifting hands to just above waist level, and spreading them out to his sides, Hyperion descends to land gently near... but not within reach.. of Peter and Golden Eagle. He does this to try to demonstrate a lack of harmful desire. "Please forgive the intrusion." he tells the two of them. He nods to Golden Eagle and adds, "It is good to see that this young man has powered protection. But.."
And then his eyes traverse to Peter, his entire bearing far more confident than before. "I could not help but overhear a conversation that took place between you and.." he gestures slowly towards the restaurant. "I only intended to come and explain to you that I will make it my absolute priority to protect your Aunt... should your friend decide to make things difficult for these Mobsters." And then he pauses to lift one corner of his mouth in a smirk, "And I don't mean the gentleman in there trying to push them into a war right now."
That said, he pauses to add, "I go by Hyperion." he says. "And I know it may seem presumptuous to name myself after a Greek Titan. Please forgive such dramatics."

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga hums, then looks thoughtful, "Wow. Raise your voice again and you really won't like me."

"Thing is, as I just noticed that there are a bunch of cameras... well, we are at a bit of a problem as well. I bet those keeping an eye on me would love to spread across the evening news either one of your men or myself causing all kinds of trouble." Koga looks considerate, then shrugs.

He turns to look at Ivan. Look at him dead in the eye. "About that threat." Koga stands up slowly, leaning over the table.

"Your business with Parker is done." He smiles. "If I find out anything has happened to him or anyone involved with him, then I would run very, very far. And never stop." He then turns to go, only pausing to look at the bodyguards, "Get holsters. The guns stick out less. I could see them when I came in." He then continues walking to head out of the restaurant.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter was startled into a smile. "Girlfriend? No, I couldn't be that lucky. I did her a favor once, and I'd like to think we're friends...but I'm glad she's okay."

He turned to face Hyperion, that sudden earnest look on his face, open and apologetic. "Uhm...Hyperion?...I'm sure you..."
His voice trailed off. Was he about to suggest that an Avenger had more important things to do than babysit his Aunt?

Okay, yeah, it does kinda sound like a come-down, but was he really "gatekeeping" an A-lister like that?

"Uhm...well, if you're going to show up on Ingram Street...you might as well just knock on the door and come in. You wouldn't be the first...major hero to visit. The neighbors are kinda used to it. But tongues WILL wag if they see you hovering around the neighborhood. So...just be sociable, please? Aunt May loves to have visitors."

The guards look at each other, then to Ivan. Ivan does nothing, so they do nothing. They are too well-trained to go off half-cocked, which made them valuable.
Katerina looked to her father. "This...complicates things."
Ivan nodded. "Perhaps. But everyone makes mistakes..." He grinned again. "LIKE THIS ONE."

Hyperion has posed:
Nodding, Hyperion smiles, "I can watch from orbit should the need arise. But.. I think I might enjoy meeting Ms. Mae." That said, he silently lifts upwards towards the sky. "Please let her know that I may be knocking on the door soon?" he asks before he rockets up up and.. oh skip it.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle arches an eyebrow at Peter, then shrugs, saying, "She is well. I saw her go below in the distance, after she fled the area."

Looking back over at Hyperion as the hero flies away, she adds, "It's good that he's willing to watch over Aunt May. I wouldn't be able to keep watch often or long enough to make a difference..."

...and when Hyperion is, she hopes, well out of earshot, she leans towards Peter and whispers, "Sorry about the 'girlfriend' crack... just trying to cover my six, right?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles. "No harm done, Eagle. I'll be okay. But I'm going to get out of here and hope Matt made it out okay. I didn't see him...but I think he got while the getting was good. I'll just send him the pictures later...and hope he responds. You take care of yourself, Eagle, and if you need to talk to Spider-Man, lemme know..."
