Mouse and Bird Central
Date of Scene: 23 April 2021
Location: Central Park
Synopsis: Kian meets Kaida and Kaida meets Kian.
Cast of Characters: Kian, Kaida Connolly

Kian has posed:
New York City is a little far afield for Kían, but he felt the need for a serious stretch.  And besides, what Terry said was quite right: he really hadn't seen much of the rest of this world, not outside the general environs of the Tower, anyway.
Feeling a little emboldened, he struck off on his own, following the coast until the concrete and glass spires of New York City came into view.
Now those look like fun to fly between.
    And they were.
After a while, he was ready for a rest before heading back, and there was an inviting strip of green in the city.  Whence, ultimately, there is a birdman perched on the back of a park bench, taking occasional sips from a bottle at his hip, stretching and re-folding his wings slowly.
Kían makes a note to himself: he is definitely flying the winds between those buildings again.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
There is a scampering to be scampered.  Kaida is far from home, too. However, the best stuff is where you haven't searched in a while.  Most people don't even notice her.  Moving at around 20 mph she is incredibly fast.  She has a small haul that she is dragging about with her makeshift she wheelie pack.  Now, though, is a time for rest.
As fate would have it, she spots a bench that is occupied by some weird guy with wings.  So, she rushes over to that spot and stares up.
"Whoa…."  The small mouse girl says and peers, "Huh, those are big."

Kian has posed:
"Kya!"  Kían starts, almost loses his balance, and catches himself before there is a heap of birdman on the ground.  "Who… where…?" he asks, looking eye-level and upwards.
His own people, needless to say, spend a lot of time in the air.  So when there's an unexpected voice, he's going to look up for it, and a year-plus on this planet hasn't broken the habit of a lifetime—especially since most people on this planet are taller than him anyway.  'Big' is an adjective he simply does not associate with himself.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
There is but a small burst of speed to get out of the way but she finds he didn't fall at all.  She smiles and tilts her head.
"Well, that was close."  She nods and idly scrambles up on to the bench and then up on to the back of the bench to idly poke at a foot.
    "Hey!"

Kian has posed:
"Kya!" again—and this time Kían looks downward, to spot a very large mouse.  "You are not green, so you are not Gar," he says dubiously, staring.  "Unless you dyed your fur?  But Gar does not do that.  An' beside, he did not know I was comin' up to this area.  I did not know I was comin' up to this area.  I jus' follow the coas'-line."  He peers closer at the mouse.  "Unless you are not the one talkin' to me."
He seems to be trying to hash out his current situation by talking himself through it.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"I am definitely the one talking to you."  She nods and smiles as she looks up at him, waving a hand-like paw.  "And I am not green though that could be cool!"  She nods her head and laughs.  "My ma would have liked that."  She then takes a few steps back away from him and plops down on to the back of the bench and pulls out a peanut from a hip pack and eats it in one bite.

Kian has posed:
Kían blinks.  And blinks again.  "I… uh…."
This is about when the rest of it starts to sink in, that this mouse is also clad in a cloak.  He looks up and mutters something in a strange language, then takes a moment to master himself.  "I… uh…" he repeats, then shakes his head clear.
"Nnh.  Kié.  I am Kían."  He leans forward a little in an approximation of a bow, spreading his wings slightly.  "I am not use to bein' talk to by animals that are not green."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"And I am Kaida."  She then raises a single finger.  "And technically I am not an animal."  She laughs and shrugs and then bows back.
"I am sort of an animal though, I suppose but not originally."  She shakes her head.

Kian has posed:
"Kaida," the birdman repeats, getting it more or less right.  "I am please, an' a little confuse, to meet you… you haf turn into a… a… nnh, Earth species confuse me.  You haf turn into that?  An' can turn back into human again?"
Kían genuinely grins.  "Or are you goin' to confuse me some more?  Do not worry if you do, that iss normal for me."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A small tittering laugh and she shakes her head.  "A mouse and no, this is what I am.  I don't turn back."  She shakes her head and shrugs.  "It is what I am now.
"It has its benefits, though."  She nods her head as she smiles and puts her hands on her hips.
"I am very quick and very tough."

Kian has posed:
"An' very easy to get aroun' quiet, I think," Kían adds.  "If that iss what you wan' to do."
He takes a swig from the bottle clipped to his belt.  "It iss what you are now?  Were you not always a m-mouse?  Or are you a mouse wit' a rhy'thar… nnh, sorry, a power?"
He looks genuinely curious, and slips down from perching on the back of the bench to sitting on the back of the bench.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
She smiles and shakes her head.  "I used to be a normal girl but then a whole thing happened at a lab and with some weird mouse that they were working on and here I am!"  She smiles and shrugs as she pulls out another peanut and noms on it, chewing it up rather fast.
"And now I am a mouse person and really fast.  Well, and really tough."  She nods.  "Well, among other things."

Kian has posed:
Kían chuckles softly.  "I woul' not know normal if it landed on my shoulder.  c'Rhys'yw, I haven't been normal since my Firs' Flight, an' that was years ago.  May I ask what happen?  If you do not min' talkin' about it, I mean.  The only person I know who turns into a mouse is Gar an' he can change back again.  An' he stays green."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"You can ask but I don't know.  What I told you is all I know."  She nods her head and then casually flips down, opens up something on the side of her larger bag and peers at it.
"Unfortunately, I have somewhere to be soon so I have to get going."  She nods and sighs even as she shrugs and looks up to Kian.  "Sorry about this but it is how it is."

Kian has posed:
Kían flits down from the bench and lands delicately, and then bows properly.  "I am happy to haf met you.  If you are by the Titans Tower you can fin' me there," he offers, and stretches his wings out, then re-folds them neatly.  "Kié, Káida."
