Better Red, White, and Blue Than Just Red
Date of Scene: 18 March 2020
Location: Brighton, NYC
Synopsis: Spider-Man and SUpergirl go out on patrol and re-enact THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER...with more Russian officers defecting and big mechs and less submarines and underwater suspense.
Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Kara Danvers, Galina Nemirovsky

Peter Parker has posed:
It's an honor, really, but it's also a responsibility.
When you are about to let an A-lister superheroine like Supergirl join you on your patrol, it's highly flattering...especially when SHE seeks YOU out and asks to join. But it also means you have to be focused and make sure to show Supergirl everything about the patrol, how it works, what you do in response to certain situations...

Okay, he MIGHT get a little exposition-y, but it's for a good cause.

"Okay, we're going into Brooklyn now. I keep an eye and an ear on the police scanner app. I find it helps a lot to learn the radio codes, that way you know what you're getting yourself into before you get there."

Spider-Man launches off an upward swing, arcing through the air in full accordance with physics, before firing another webline to the left and continuing onward.
"It also helps to know what gangs are operating and where their turfs are. I'm working that into the database..."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl is flying at a leisurely pace, along the average of Spidey's highs and lows, and keeping pace with him as he travels. She nods with each new bit of information. "Got it!" she replies, as she continues along. Not that she needs police scanner apps with her hearing, but it serves no purpose to point that out. Nobody likes the smartest, most powerful guy in the room-type.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
She was supposed to be looking for the Major, and well Nobody ever accused Mikhail of being a push over. So nobody asked questions when she slipped out with her primary armor, nor did they worry over the fact she'd been radio silent for days. American intelligence services were no doubt on the prowl for Russia's greatest armored Heroine, Right? Well Galina hadn't seen any signs anyone was on her tail, she had expected somebody to come after her by now.

A gauntlet lifted to tap the side of her helmt and cycle through radio channels, scanning the sky before she spots an The Amazing Spiderman and The Mighty Supergirl. Quietly she drops down from the shoulder of that hulking mech, swinging into the thing with practiced ease and cranking the suit over. The Buzz Venkos and the whirr of fans, as the Crimson Dynamo comes alive. Theres a moment there waiting for the neural net to synch up, before she's off.

Turbojets spool to life, lifting the massive hulk of the Dynamo up amongst a plume of smoke. Traveling in a neat parabolic arc across the sky, before throttling back and falling towards a decidedly more industrial area.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey chuckles. "Supergirl," he says, because he promised to use her official handle while in costume, "I hope we don't run into anything major tonight. But I figure we are working together, so if you see something and you can get right in there to help, don't wait on my account. Get in there and do it. I'm not about to risk someone's life because I might get butthurt about leading the way. You do you, Supergirl, as they say these days."

Spidey landed on the side of a tall apartment building and started looking around. "Now, I'm sure you can detect trouble a hundred different ways, but being able to recognize it is a useful skill. Sometimes, it can be VERY subtle..."

BROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM...as the 14-foot mech travels through the air about a half-mile away, heading for Brighton Beach and the warehouse district.

Spider-Man STARED for a few seconds from his perch and continues, "...and sometimes they are as subtle as a brick to the brainpan. I think we better check that out."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl is watching intently, using every sense, super or not, toward observing the spectacle before them. "Y-yes...It looks like...It looks like that does bear investigating. I'm going ahead, but not too far. There is safety in numbers, for both of us. I just wanna get a handle on it as fast as I can. If you run into anything, just say my name. I'll hear you. No matter how far ahead I am." And with that, Supergirl slips it into turbo and zooms off ahead of Spidey as he presumably follows.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
That hulk of a suit rolls over, firing it's thrusters to slow it's descent to a relatively gentle fall that just barely cracks the asphalt when it finally touches down. Fourteen feet worth of brilliant red paint, marred by numerous scorch marks and scratches. Festooned with ERA, RPG chains, rockets and a rotary cannon it can only be one suit of course. Who else but the Crimson Dynamo, Russia's favorite armored hero.

That armored helm of a head swings around, half stepping to one side to watch the approach of Supergirl. Theres a glance sent back towards Spiderman in the distance, before zeroing in entirely upon Supergirl. <<Zdravstvuyte druz'ya>>That electronic growl of a voice no doubt designed with great care to ensure it's intimidating as possible. <<If there are criminals to stop, you should go. I will wait, this is not as important as civilians.>>

Peter Parker has posed:
She's awesome. No doubt about it. Never was a hero so aptly named. Including him.

He ups his speed, accelerating to a timely 100 MPH. Not as fast as her, but he does arrive to hear the mechanized voice. That's...Russian. What in the world...

Then it clicks for him. Crimson Dynamo. He had taken part in a rather spirited conversation two weeks ago about powered armor, and Dynamo had come up.

It certainly was horribly beweaponed. You could take over a South American banana republic with that suit alone.

He isn't in time to hear the declaration, so he's going to follow Supergirl's lead.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl nods, and looks over her shoulder toward Spider-Man as he trails her, but only slightly. She waits for him to arrive, and then looks back to the Crimson Dynamo. "My zdes', chtoby privetstvovat' vas. Kak my mozhem pomoch'?"

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
<<Aha, You speak Russian like a school girl. We will have to teach you how Russian heroes speak another time hmm?>>Slowly the big suit draws itself up to it's full height. <<I come for important business, against the wishes of evil men who seat themselves at grand desks and honor themselves with titles unearned. I trust you both have contacts within the American government, as this will of course interest them in turn.>>

That big suit takes a knee, leaning foreward to plant a heavy fist against the pavement. With that the armor across it's back moves, swinging out of the way before parting to allow it's pilot to climb out. Of course being Russian, it's somewhat like a Matyroska doll. More red armor, though this suit is decidedly more form fitting and decorated with all flavor of unsavory language. That asymetrical face plate finally swinging up to reveal the face of the Dynamo herself. Casually plopping down to seat herself on the big mech's shoulder, and rescue a flask and a pack of smokes. "I'm trying to defect here, if that was unclear."

Peter Parker has posed:
...She knows Russian. Of COURSE she knows Russian. God, and she said yes to him when Peter Parker asked her out.
God, when You answer prayers, You don't stick at half-measures, do You?

When the Dynamo opens like the biggest Russian nesting doll ever made, it's a little disconcerting. Like seeing a mouse drive a car.

Spidey arrives in time to hear the woman's official declaration in English.

The Crimson Dynamo...was attempting to defect. Okay, this was all very interesting, and not what he had expected tonight. Less CLERKS and more THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.
But it is serious. And that means they have to do something to help.
"...Okay. All right." He looks to Supergirl. "I know an agent of the FBI who could get the ball rolling, at least, but it will be public. I also have the number of someone who works for Homeland Security...if she'll actually take a call from me. Do you know anyone in the American government, Supergirl?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I know a number of politicians who wanted to have their pictures taken with me," Supergirl offers lamely. "But I do know a few in SHIELD who might be able to help, as well. It is not my place to welcome or deny someone who wishes to defect. I am not blessed with that authority, nor would I insist to claim it."

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
She lights that cigarette with the open arc between her finger tips, puffing the thing to life casually. "Until this is done, I am placing both of your lives in great danger. Moscow will be very eager to kill me, and erase all who know of my defection. I apologize for making you shoulder this burden for me, just know that the Dynamo pays their debts."Cigarette ashed casually to the side as she leans back against a rocket pod. Just as casual as can be.

"SHIELD is fine, or whomever of course. I am not about to dictate how you shoulder this burden I have saddled you both with. I can at least keep my head down, I have a safe place to stay and repair my armor of course."And a beat, as she takes a belt from that flask. "And of course if either of you have need of me, I am as I have always been a hero. I am not so good at kittens in trees, but I can handle the rest of course."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods thoughtfully...then perks up.

"All right, Supergirl. How about this? We contact everyone we both know, but let them know whoever gets here FIRST will get priority on the case." He grins. "AND...we can notify the BUGLE. J. Jonah Jameson may like the sight of me burned in effigy, but he's a hard-nosed newsman. And if he won't bite...I'll tell him my next call will be to Lois Lane of the DAILY PLANET. THAT will get him moving." He chuckles. "Full-court press, they call it. How does it sound?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I feel...Do we want this so publicized? I mean...It culd cause her trouble, but I don't know for sure how this sort of thing works," Supergirl admits. "But I feel like the more people we contact in authority, the more chances to get her help. Would the press not cause complication."

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
"I am not going to be able to do this without getting into a fight with somebody from back home, do not worry over this. Those powerful enough to pose a danger are my friends, and will not fight me. We can dig graveyard for the rest of them, yes?"Theres a bit of a cocky smirk there, and yeah relaxed as can be. "If America sees fit to keep me supplied with ammunition, I am without equal in any who might come for me."

Theres a humm there "Is also nice to meet -American- Spiderman, I spend years looking for your Russian brethren under Moscow. Super girl is also quite popular in Moscow, their fan club had great rivalry with my own. Many young girls would be terribly upset we are not mortal enemies upon finally meeting."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man smiled wryly. "I hear she's also big in Japan. But what say we avoid the whole graveyard thing?" He looked back to Supergirl. "I think that the exposure will do more good than harm. By the time Russian authorities find out, it won't be something they can sweep under the rug. And if someone comes after her while we're here...well, I guess we're just going to have to stop them."

He took a deep breath. He had his two sources on speed dial, as well as the Bugle. But they were working together, which meant he couldn't be cavalier about it.

"You with me on this, Supergirl? It's your choice. I'm not going to manipulate you or trick you into anything. I'm just going to ask you to trust me."

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
Theres a wave of her armored hand "Nyet, I can protect my self. I was Moscow's defense during great trials on many occasion, they can not kill me. Even if they did, I have put in motion plan to insure that next Crimson Dynamo is American."Theres a puff of that cigarette as she watches the discussion never the less. "Is not like I became Dynamo for quiet life after all, I volunteered for this honor. You have to know that in Russia it is always more complicated to become hero, I was in the program for some time."

"You Americans should focus on keeping this safe, kittens in trees and so fourth. You do not have to worry about me truly. The Dynamo is not for half measure."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods thoughtfully. "Well, let's try to avoid needing it." He takes out a phone, a fairly basic cell phone, then taps a button to open an app before dialing a number.

"Hello? YES, may I speak to Agent Hawthorne? Oh, hey, Agent. Yes, listen...I have the current pilot of Russia's Crimson Dynamo here in Brighton Beach and she wants to defect. Right. Okay, Nemirovsky, Galina. Yep, willing to bet this is her. Okay. How fast can you get the political wheels turning? Yes, I know it's 7 PM. Look, Hawthorne, when I hang up with you, I'm calling DHS. You KNOW they love a good story. My money's on you getting here first." He chuckles. "Well, better put a wiggle on."

He hangs up, then dials another number. "Hello? Yes, Agent MacIntosh. Tell her 'that insufferable webheaded freak' is calling. The reason? Well, I have a Russian superhero in Brighton Beach who wants to defect and I wanted to know if she'd like to beat out the FBI..."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl Narrows her eyes as she watches Spider-Man make his phone calls. She isn't as well versed in the publicity scene as he is, and he is impressing her on every front. "Well, you think that will get this taken care of?" she asks Spidey. she still isn't even sure how helpful the contact that she has would be in a situation for like this.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
Theres a sly little grin there, before reaching back to tug free...hey Crimson Dynamo has merch! Finally dismounting to offer Supergirl and Spiderman their very own Crimson Dynamo T-shirt. Gauranteed to turn everything in the wash bright red, and shrink and last maybe three washes before it's reduced to brightly colored fluff in the bottom of the wash that gets on everything."You are new to this, yes Super Girl?"

"I have been at this game for rather long time, I have pretty good sense for when things are going to end badly for everyone. I do not feel this way now, there is no need for concern yes?"She offers a smile, and a nudge on the shoulder. "If not we are heroes all, and we will labor until it's better. No need to be so concerned, all we can do is the best we can do. Learn and remember, yes?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods to Crimson Dynamo as he is apparently waiting for somone to pick up the phone. He eyes the shirt, then shrugs. He's gotten worse things. Then he parks as there is a click on the line only Supergirl can hear. "Hey, I..."
<"You troublemaking freak of nature!">
"...ouch...geez, that's kinda harsh..."
<"Give me one reason I shouldn't sic fifty agents on your wall-crawling butt RIGHT NOW....">
"Galina Nemirovsky, AKA Crimson Dynamo, wants to defect. And she brought her toys with her."
A pause. <"...I'm listening. Where is she? AND you?">
"Brighton Beach. Sending you a geotag. Treat it nicely, it's never been to a government office before."
<"If you are lying, I SWEAR...">
"Yeah, you do that a lot even when I'm telling the truth. Have to hang up. Have to tell the BUGLE."

Spider-Man clicks off before the woman can reply. "And for my next trick, I shall stop the printing press at the DAILY BUGLE with my next call."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl furrows her brow at the treatment that Side is getting, until suddenly he has the attention of the person whom he has called. She shakes her head, then looks up to Galina, taking the shirt with arched brows. "Well...THIS will certainly grab some attentiom, won't it?"

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
"The suit is not red for subtlety tovarish, well actually the original suit was black but this is not important yes?"Theres a smirk there, as the Dynamo uses a jetpack assisted hop to return to her perch. "If you would like I would be happy to treat you two to dinner, for the help. I know identities are sometimes secret, but it seems the least I could for you two."Sipping after her flask once she's settled back in. "You two are cute couple, incidentally."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man pauses. He doesn't want to jinx it, but he also doesn't want to cause trouble for Supergirl with his admittedly-shoddy rep. So, maybe split the difference?

"Supergirl and I...well, I guess you could say we're working together. I'm giving her my take on New York, and if any of it helps her, then I've done my good deed for the day."

Well, well, well..."Hello, BUGLE. Hi, it's..."
<"SPIDER-MAN?">
"...yes, it's Spider-Man. May I speak to the World section editor, Mr. Robertson?"
<"This is gonna be comedy GOLD. Hold on.">
A pause. He tilts his head quizzically.
"SPIDER-MAN!!" That could be heard even without super-hearing.
Great. JJJ his own self. He found himself speaking to his boss in a way he never expected to sound. "Listen, Jameson. You want a scoop on the defection of a Russian superheroine, Crimson Dynamo?"
Dead silence.
"Silence doesn't imply consent. Ten seconds, or I'm calling Lane at the PLANET. Her write-up of me is much less biased, but I figured I'd give you right of first refusal. Since we have such a close RELATIONSHIP..."
<"TELL ME,"> Jameson growled under his breath.
"Brighton Beach, near the new parking garage they are building. Whoever you send will know it..."
CLICK.
"...when they see it." He clicked off. "Well, I dropped a few big rocks into a few ponds. The waves should come back very soon."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl blushes visibly, and rucksack a strand of golden hair behind her ear. "Well...you uh...you handled that well," she says, not quite stammering. She looks up to Galina and smiles faintly. "If anyone can work the crowd in your favor, he can," she offers brightly.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
"Much more impressive than his Russian counterpart, I assure you."Theres a smirk there, legs folding beneath her as she gets comfortable where she's at. I mean the media is going to be here before too long after all right?"I am thinking this is going to be pretty good, This American thing that is."And a little smirk "Oh and be aware There will be another Russian following me into defection, maybe more than that once they see the other name coming to this side."

Peter Parker has posed:
Another? Apparently there IS a sequel to this movie.
Spider-Man looks to Supergirl as he leans against the big red hulk...ing mech currently in some sort of standby mode.

He is about to speak, but the sirens are suddenly very audible. Four black vans and one command vehicle roll into the area, moving into defensive positions. All of them are marked with the telltale symbol of the F.B.I.

A tall African-American man in a suit steps out and walks towards the group - Galina, the Dynamo suit, Supergirl, and Spider-Man. He stares a little at the suit, then takes a deep breath. "Miss Nemirovsky? I'm Special Agent Jack Hawthorne, from the New York Field Office of the FBI. I...am a little surprised by the turn of events, but I think we can offer dispensation for you." He glances to Spider-Man, then back to her. "I know what the one called Spider-Man said, but I need you to make a formal statement to me about your intentions to defect. Your voice is currently being recorded for evidence in your request for asylum."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl can't help beaming at the response that Spider-Man has managed to wrangle together. "You did good," she says quietly to Spidey as the FBI agent is speaking to Galina.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
Theres a huff, before slowly rising to her boots. Then stiffly she snaps to attention, drawing up for a crisp salute. "Senior Sergeant Galina Nemirovsky, 76nth Guards Air assault division. Currently on assignment to the Winter Guard, and the thirteenth Crimson Dynamo to wear the armor. I hearby formally request asylum within the United states, and bring with me my armor and technical documentation on it's construction and development. I do this of my own free will, and have not previously been promised any reward for my defection."She perks a brow after Special agent Hawthorne, to make sure that'll do. Presuming it's good she relaxes from her salute.

"The Crimson Dynamo, intends to fight for America if this is desirable. Otherwise I know some people down in Venezuela who could use a hero, you know?"Casually flicking that cigarette aside, before offering the special agent a hit from that flask. "So tell me, what can you offer me that Shield can't?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Hawthorne looks to Spider-Man, then back to Galina. "Well, Sargeant Nemirovsky, I think that if you are truly honest in your intentions, then I believe that your expertise and your military training will be taken into account. You may be expected to operate under supervision..."
"Oh, I am sure they will guarantee THAT, Galina. Make sure to get all of their promises signed, in writing, and with at least two witnesses."
Hawthorne gave Spidey a Look, but is polite when he turns back to Galina. "Yes...of course. You will be afforded legal counsel to act on your behalf..."

As the discussion for Galina's defection continue, Spider-Man sidles over to Supergirl. "I never forget anyone I interact with. Because you never know...someone that doesn't like you may like someone or something else even LESS." He smiles to her and whispers, a little quieter, "...I think she's in good hands, though. Hawthorne may be a brusque fellow, but he'll do right by her, I'm sure. Shall we say our farewells?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl smiles to Spidey and nods. "Looks like you have her taken care of," she says softly. "Thank you. What you've done here is nothing short of amazing." She offers Galina a little wave as she speaks to Agent Hawthorne, and she steps back.

Galina Nemirovsky has posed:
"Senior Sargeant"She corrects, casually mind. "Well we can discuss details, and presumptive pay in private yes?"She half turns to shoot Spidey and Supergirl a thumbs up and a wink, before peering after Hawthorne. "Alright Special Agent, lets get down to brass tacks yes?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man chuckles. "Not exactly JUST another day on patrol...but in the end, it's all the same. Doing SOMETHING instead of doing NOTHING." He looked to his left and saw the news truck pull up. "Looks like our cue to continue onward. We still have a lot to cover for the patrol."

Spidey fires a webline, but pauses to wave to Galina...and to glance at Supergirl.

"I didn't know you knew Russian."
