Joan Wright has posed:
As it gets further in to the warming month of May. There are a bit more persons out. Several, if not most, schools are out or on the way out for the school year. Leading to a number of young adult types with some free time and pocket money to burn. So what better time than now to take advantage of that plus the warm weather to have a food truck festival?

The organization of it is not too extravagant. A couple blocks worth of street have been roped off to traffic and in the place of random cars blocking the streets instead is a large assortment of food trucks representing a lot of different tastes.

Towards the center of the area, a tent is set up to provide shade for those who wish to take advantage of the folding tables and chairs provided by the organizers while they eat their food purchases. Or they could very well walk down the path into the neighboring park to eat at one of the benches while enjoying a lovely view of the Statue of Liberty.

If they can find a seat that is. For the very first day of the food truck festival, which was expected to be the lightest day, the attendance is unusually high and seats are at a premium.

June Moone has posed:
What a great day to be alive. June found solace in the campus of where she learns and works, and even found a little bit of excitement of the flyers that were going around campus. Food Truck Festival, bring your bellies! Obviously it wasn't a joint flyer with all of the trucks in attendance, just a local one from a student who is looking to start their own five star restaurant.

So why not?

Help out the locals, spend a bit of her paycheck, get a bit to eat while enjoying the sights.. June was often a solitary character, but being around people made her world go 'round even if she wasn't apart of theirs.

The first stop was eye-catching; 'Not Your Mama's Fish and Grits' was a truck that housed something other than what she assumed. It was an asian food truck, and the first thing she got was a cheese-dog, a plate of fried rice with extra jumbo shrimp and a side of mixed, yellow curry. She didn't have the hands for a drink, something she'd come back for later, but what she did find was an open spot upon the ground next to another group where she planted herself down and began to eat. So, very attractive!

Greg Rollins has posed:
Well, there was obviously a lot of people there. Including one who was... definitely not from around even if he looked majority human. The alien teenager was at least disguised in normal clothes, and his skin tone could be mistaken for something really close to foreign from other countries. It was that he looked so lost at the moment among the food trucks and different places.

That, and he was holding his head off to one side at a table by himself, with only a drink so far. No food. Just sitting there, cowboy hat moved to shield his head and looking very lost. He's also muttering to himself in another language of some sort.

Joan Wright has posed:
Having done the 'Is this spot taken' dance from earlier, Joan is close enough to be mistaken for part of said group June has seated herself beside. Based from her not paying attention the conversation currently going on amongst them and her glance to the view of the Statue of Liberty off in the distance, it becomes more apparent of her outsider status. A pair of chopsticks lower over the take out container while Joan chews her dumpling contentedly. Oh yes. Uninterrupted dumplings. This is the best.

Getting a sense of movement beside her, she glances over to June, giving a nod of greeting to the fellow food truck patron. A curious glance is snuck towards June's collection to which she gives a nod of approval. As if June needed any.

June Moone has posed:
The first thing that June took a bite of, was the cheesedog. There really wasn't any hotdog inside, just cheese that when bitten and pulled away, stretched as far as the eye can see. And June was having trouble. What with Joan sitting right next to her, giving her the nod of approval, June did a double-take and broke out into a fit of the giggles.

The balancing act was something to be admired; for the food that rests upon her knees shake but do not topple, and the way her mouth works at gobbling up that very long piece of cheese looked horrifying. Once the giggling/chewing/eating of the bit that she had taken was eaten, she lifts her cheese-dog in greeting towards Joan. "Sorry about that.." She mutters, then glances around to survey those who pass by, and what -they- had gotten to eat. "..are you with them.. or?" June asks. "The reason I'm asking is, there's just that guy over there on the table by himself. Maybe we could grab a seat instead of sitting on the grass." Thankfully, June learned her lesson on wearing white pants a very, very long time ago.

Joan Wright has posed:
There's something about laughter. It doesn't just stop at the first person. Feeling the infection reaching her, Joan brings up a hand to her mouth to prevent any dumpling laced laughter from making the long trip over to June's amazing collection of food. Once the threat is gone by way of chewing she lowers her hand. "That's alright. That cheese dog did look delicious." At the mention of free seats, Joan turns her head to look over towards the tent area. "Oooh Seats opened up. Yes. We'll have to move quick to grab them. Need help with carrying anything?"

Greg Rollins has posed:
Getting up from his seat, the young teen goes off to get some food, keeping the soda in hand and being careful to not bump people. It's a few minutes before he comes back with a bunch of food. Mostly mexican, some oriental, and a few burgers. But he finds a problem. His seat is taken!

Grumbling a little, he starts to move around carefully with his arms laden with food and heading for the same area as Joan and June it looks like. He's at least being very, very careful and avoiding people as much as he can.

June Moone has posed:
"Nuh uh.. Lets go!" Yay, June is making a friend! Hopefully the other part of her would approve; there was no danger in sight, nothing that would stress her out, finding a magical seat will be a little adventure that she would allow herself! She doesn't struggle to get to her feet, keeping her plates upright and lined upon her arm, the cheesedog right into her other hand to try to carve a path to where the young man -was- sitting.. and now gone.

And.. now that the seat was taken, June looked.. well, shocked. "Christ, they move -fast-!" She says, now.. eyes attempting to find somewhere to sit, seeing that now hers and Joan's was taken. "Is.. well.. crap. I got nothing."

Joan Wright has posed:
With stakes a lot lower than other times she's gone to get dumplings to eat, Joan is more than willing to accept the challenge. "Oh my gosh you have the balance of a high rise construction worker." Joan comments, hurring along after June, marveling at the plates not at all appearing at risk for falling.

As she too witnesses the target taken she lets out a low squeal, "Nooooooo...oh well." Her steps slow as she looks to June, expression betraying a bit of amusement. "Places to sit at food festivals are like parking spots to City Residents. They're high in demand and -"

She glances around. "Wow." Seeing Greg come up with his food, she does a double take. "Oh it's the guy from the table." With her hands occupied by a food carton and chopsticks, Joan gives a tilt of the head in greeting instead. "Lost your seat too I see."

Greg Rollins has posed:
The guy, well more kid really, he can't be older than 15, maybe 17 at the most looks over. "Huh? Oh, yes. I left to get some food and found it taken. It was a lovely spot, too."

He sighs, looking around and spotting a free table area. "Oh, there is one." He heads that way. Except... there doesn't seem to be one? At least not at first, then a bunch happen to move off just as he gets over there.

That's got to be a bit odd.

June Moone has posed:
"I used to waittress, so I'm used to this." Which was the truth, June held a many an odd jobs as she attended college. Scholarships or not, she still needed to earn a living, New York was expensive! "Gosh.. dammit.." She says in relation to Joan's analogy, now her own eyes were peeled until she spots the young man with an abundance of food, food that could probably feed fifty people at once!

"Uh.. wow.." She murmurs, not even making introductions but following close at his heels to take the seat that he pointed out. As a bunch of people move away to clear the path, June's lips dip into a 'not bad' frown, head nodding in appreciation. "You got a good eye there, they must have been done!" And.. now June has her seat. Claimed, hers, plates put down and butt upon the wood. And she sighs. "Hunching over on the grass just wasn't my jam at all."

Joan Wright has posed:
Not really seeing what Greg sees, but with little option otherwise, Joan follows after Greg. Upon the crowd parting ways at the last second, the architect looks over to June curiously. Did June see what Joan just did? Wha-

Well hey there are seats now. Taking advantage of the newly found seats, Joan takes one. "Wow. You're really good at reading people." She comments to Greg, "Glad we followed you." With a table available to rest the food on, she gives a slightly more standard greeting, giving Greg a wave. "Oh I'm Joan and this is-" She looks to June. "-... dang it we missed that part didn't we?"

Greg Rollins has posed:
The young man smiles, then shrugs, "I just have a gift for such things." He hesistates for a second on gift. Settling himself, and the food, he pulls out a burger. Eyeing it, he glances at the two, "Are these really made from animals? They look too... perfect in shape."

At the introductions, he smiles, "My name is Greg." He seems pleasant enough, and the smile is genuine. He pauses to rub his head a bit, then blinks and hums before going through his different trays. He finally turns around and taps another person on the shoulder. "Please take this for the young one. I recently came from there and could not help overhearing that they wanted to try and you had no currency for it."

Despite the lack of confusion, one tray is gone and Greg turns back to eye the burger and fries combination.

June Moone has posed:
Take advantage indeed. June was already deep into her cheesedog now, her head turning ever so slowly as Joan gestures towards her, still, with that long cheese string connecting the cheesedog to herself. "Huh?"

"OH!" June muffles, quickly tearing off a piece of cheese, dropping the dog and the remainer of her fingers upon the plate just to dust her hands clean of.. nothing. But they sure were greasy. "June. I'm June, sorry! Nice to meet you both, Joan and Greg." Dang, isn't this something! June was socializing!

Watching now as Greg gives away a tray of his food, her brows were lifted. She was impressed, that was for certain, she even nods her head in agreement to that thought. "New Yorkers never cease to amaze me. There are times when people are just grumpy, but.. the humanitarianism is something to be admired."

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan laughs, "Hi. June. I'm Joan." She looks to Greg, "Hi Greg. Nice to meet you two as well. And it worked out rather nicely."

Much too nicely actually. Which kind of makes Joan idly wonder what's going to happen to ruin this particular attempt to enjoy dumplings. Another robbery? Another random crazy with a sword? Those abducting jerks in bowler hats who think fish eggs are a valid substitute for steamed doughy goodness? She picks up her chopsticks once more, using them to snag another piece of dumpling to inspect briefly. "Well, it is hard to remain cheerful 24/7 but, you don't HAVE to smile when you're helping someone."

Greg Rollins has posed:
Greg looks over at Joan, raising an eyebrow. "If you are worried about being disturbed by--" He sighs, shaking his head, "I knew this was going to be a bad idea. Stupid computer suggesting it."

He looks a bit embarrassed, and just goes to eating his burger. And he's sulking, too, from the looks.

He pauses a little, "Hm... this is pretty good." Well, at least the teen's occupied a little!

June Moone has posed:
June pays attention to nothing while there's food present, but it was forgone for now in order for her to fold her arms about her chest. In a minute, she'll start on the overly ladened shrimp fried rice. "That's true. Like I said, they're admirable." June now plants an elbow upon the table, letting her chin take real estate upon her palm. It was Greg that she focuses in on now, since he was sulking.

"What was a bad idea?" She asks, tilting her head so that her cheek could now take over her palm. "Coming outside or here? Everything is a bad idea until you find something good about it." June points out. Case in point, he seems to be enjoying her food, which has June snaking a fork from her pocket to begin to dig into hers. Everything was cooked to perfection. If she could point out the itty bitty bits of rice that weren't hard as rocks, she would!

Joan Wright has posed:
Hearing Greg seemingly speaking up about disturbances, Joan glances over to Greg in time to see him looking to her. A brow lifts, mirroring Greg's expression. Did he just-?

No.

Maybe it was another type of reading he did earlier?

She frowns slightly before looking to her food. "Sorry." She pops the dumpling into her mouth and chews slowly.

Greg Rollins has posed:
The teen shakes his head, "Oh, it is my fault... umm..." He fiddles with some of his fries, not even using ketchup.

"I guess you could say I am not from around here? And part of it is I can somewhat read minds and emotions? This is supposed to be helping me work on not doing it, but well... I believe the sentence is 'I suck at it'?" He confesses.

He waits for the reaction to that, and actually looks a bit disappointed in what he is assuming the future reaction might be.

June Moone has posed:
"Oh." June says nonchalantly, picking through her food now. It was almost as if she didn't pay attention to a word he says, until she really realizes just exactly what he said. "OH. Ooooooh..." She looks from Joan, to Greg, and back again with a near bewildered expression. An expression that tells her herself to not think about anything untoward.

Though, in the back of her mind were about grades of the college students she needed to submit to her professor, the surface plays upon how good soup dumplings sound right about now. "So.. when you say you're not from around here? Like.. are you from Canada?"

Cause there's mindreaders out there, certainly.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan gives anod as Greg provides a bit of explanation, confirming the theory she came upon. She gives Greg another look, assessing. So, he's practicing how to suppress abilities? "How old are you, Greg?"

Greg Rollins has posed:
Greg shakes his head, "A lot farther." He seems to consider, "Um..." The age question has him looking like he's thinking. A lot.

"I think the equivalent is 15 here?" He answers after a minute or two of thinking. And munching on a fry. He shrugs, then eyes the two carefully. "You have... no problems with my doing so accidently?"

June Moone has posed:
His mannerisms did seem young, but in an olden sort of way. So when Joan asks the question, it was time for June to stop eating to pay attention. Her fork was set aside, careful to not place it upon the table, but she watches the two with interest, then nods..

"I d..don't." June says, almost hesitantly. "Someone else might but.." June shrugs her shoulders. "I really don't think about anything all that important. I daydream wishing I could touch the actual Mona Lisa without ruining it, or having a rare chance of restoring a rare piece of terracotta pots." She smiles. It was all, minor to everyone else, but significant to her. So with that, she waves her hand. "Nothing important. But, because I don't mind, doesn't mean that Joan wouldn't. Its important to respect peoples privacy."

Joan Wright has posed:
"Well, I'm no criminal mastermind nor do I have any reason to memorize nuclear launch coades so I figure It's fairly ok if its by accident." Joan allows. She considers the age and glances to the sheer amount of people in the area. "...You seem to be doing alright here considering how young you are. I'd imagine most your age would have had a breakdown by now with the amount of people around."

She pops the dumpling into her mouth, chewing away at it.

Greg Rollins has posed:
A shrug is given by Greg again, "Well... I did that the first day I came to a big enough city. Or the outskirts at least. Now, it is... um... like a... concert, I think they are called? Music festival? Only a lot more unpleasant."

He takes a sip of his soda, "This is not bad. I do wish they had some sort of juice instead of this. I fear the sweetness might do something strange to me later."

He shrugs, then looks at the two, "Since I am kinda able to do that, do you two have any questions? I mean, not every day you meet a... well... out of town person?"

June Moone has posed:
June gestures towards Joan, then nods. "See?" It appears that neither woman minded after all. Joan's assessment was a sound one, one that does have her worrying a little bit about the young man. "So.." She reaches into her back pocket, retriving a business card for Greg. "..I work and study at Columbia college. If you need to get away or just.. learn, I'm sure I can find someone to help you." Though, that someone probably would sooner kill him..

There were really no questions. The same card was given to Joan, left on the table for her to take if she should, and soon June rises to collect her plates. "I'm going to hit a few more trucks on the way out, but.. it was nice meeting you both!"
