Fancy meeting you here!
Date of Scene: 14 May 2021
Location: Greenwich Lofts
Synopsis: Conner and Gwen find out they are neighbors. Gwen teases him about his secret identity! Maybe using glasses are in order.
Cast of Characters: Conner Kent, Gwen Stacy

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner is rarely seen by his neighbours in the typical week. In part it is due he spends most of the day at college or doing super-hero stuff. But mostly it is because he rarely uses the door of the apartment.

There are windows, and he can fly. So why to use the door? Well, because it is Greenwich Village and the windows face crowded streets, so when in a sunny spring day, and given it is close to mid-afternoon, Conner is forced to use the door. Otherwise his flimsy secret identity would be non-existent. The door, and then the stairs.

It is not as if he is not friendly. He is just busy. Besides, he has never had neighbours before. So, besides a polite smile here and there, he really doesn't know them. Except for those who talk too loudly, the curse of enhanced hearing. Some, however, he has never seen.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
It's not as if things are that different for Gwen, though as of late she *has* learned to make her way in through the front door more than the usual. Specially as she has focused on school more and more. And they did just had finals!

Gwen is making her way home from college, one of those last exams having been taken and stiffling on a yawn, covering it with her mouth. Late night up studying coupled with working at Wong's does that to someone! Thankfully she has that enhanced physiology going on to compensate but damn, the actually 'normal' students must have it rough..

She makes her way up the stairs at a pace, perhaps eager to get inside, books under one arm and she whistling a little tune to herself.

Conner Kent has posed:
Finals over is why Conner is not at the ESU right now. The place has not been lively the last couple weeks. Social activities grinded to a halt, as most students did that final effort to scrape a few decimal points to their grades.

There will be parties next weekend, but not right now. Today Conner finds the time to get some stuff for his apartment. He needs, lets see... he has a list somewhere.

Somewhat distracted, he almost runs into Gwen. Whose presence makes him stop in his tracks in surprise. "Gwen, hey," he greets, stepping back. "What are you doing here? Were you looking for me?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen is dressed down to jeans and a crossed top, just that casual look of a normal ESU student, pausing when she notes a familiar figure. That makes her quirk a brow. Is he on to her? Did he find out her true identity?! But then he goes and asks that. A small look of relief appears on Gwen's expression before it morphs into a smile. "Hey there.."

Then to the question a nod, "Yep, I am a stalker. It's me and Glenn Close, twins of a different mother." beat, then a wink. "But no, I actually live here..." she points beyond Conner to an apartment further down the hall, "That's me over there." she notes.

A knowing little look on her expression. "So don't worry, no stalking. Your secrets are safe." whatever she meant with that? But she appears to mostly be joking.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Well, damn," Conner hehs, "I am just across the hall. I moved here a couple months ago, it is weird I had not seen you before." Then he grins, "the stalker idea was more interesting. But at least my secrets are safe." Right? Right.

He assumes she is joking, because she is just a normal girl, right? A good looking one, though. "Well, I was going out to get a few things I have been delaying... but I can delay a little more. Have you finished the finals?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Oh yea..?" So that's where he ran off to so quickly after they captured that Speed Demon guy. Makes sense.. Gwen is considering that for a bit, pondering on the matter until that last question gets her back to the present. "I did. Actually, just returning from the last one.." and the circles around her eyes showing she most likely didn't sleep much last night..

"Genetics.." A chuckle, "The one I am more comfortable in and of course it also had to be the one I actually studied more to.." she exhales softly. "But it's done now. All in all should be a positive thing. And how did yours go? One step closer to becoming a journalist?"

Her arms fold over her front, over her books, one hip thrusted to the side, "Or been sidetracked with too many side activities, mmm?" brow arching.

Conner Kent has posed:
"No, it went well," replies Conner with a wry grin. Then gestures for her to go on upstairs, standing out of the way. "I am totally sure I have not failed anything, although American History is going to be a C. GPA won't be great."

He sighs. Maybe he should have partied a little less. Although in his defense what has really eaten his time has been super-hero matters the last month or two. "What have you heard about my side activities? I am not that bad."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Ah well, we all got to have our weak points. I am sure you will pick it up somewhere else.." Gwen says in a reassuring manner, moving to rest against the wall, one foot tucked behind her, not yet going upstairs but close to them.

That last part has her dance around the subject, "It's more what I haven't heard. I mean, you told me you don't really play many sports when you have the physique for it. And if you aren't just spending your time cramming on books then what are you spending your time in, mmm?" She questions. Nosy neighbor Gwen!

One hand moves up to tuck a loose strand of blond hair behind her ear, "So I am sure you must have your secrets. But then again, don't we all?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"I try to get involved into the social activities in campus," offers Conner. "Because I don't have family in the city, and I didn't know anyone. So, yeah... I had time," he grins. It is not all parties, just... mostly.

"Nah, no secrets. Just a kid from Metropolis," he states. "And I am staying in New York for the break. So, do you want to hang out, neighbour of mine? You are a New Yorker, yes?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Ah, social activities." AKA, parties. Yes, Gwen knows the lingo. She has even been to a few! Not too many though considering all her side activities. Even Captain Stacy says her daughter should go out more, which is telling something. She lets out a sigh at that thought and then just shakes her head a bit to herself.

"And sure.." She lets out a laugh, "We can hang out in one of those social activities sometime. And damn right I am a New Yorker.." she confirms. "Lived here my whole life. Well, not all of it. I spent some time in Gotham too, which is where I met Stephanie and a few others but yea, mostly.." she lifting her shoulders in a shrug.

She gestures with a thumb to the street, "I also work at Wong's. The corner store a few blocks down. So if you ever need anything you can find me there too."

Conner Kent has posed:
"You must know all the fun places, then," guesses Conner. Because despite her nerdy-brainy choice of a career, she doesn't feel like the usual introvert bookworm. "I meant hanging out now. But yeah... there will be some good events going next weekend, we can go together to any of them."

Probably not the job fair. No one is going to take a Freshman seriously. He really meant the parties. College lingo was one of the first things he mastered. "Do you have light bubs at Wong?" He asks. "I seem to have lost a few in the apartment."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"A few.." Gwen says with some modesty in her tone that doesn't really translate to her expression, then a laugh. "I am going to crash pretty soon." she says. "So any hanging out will have to happen later. In my old age I can't stay awake for -that- long anymore." a wink. Though she most likely could. Spiders have that kind of stamina! But then people would start asking questions. And noone wants that.

"Light bulbs?" A nod, "Of course. With some luck you can even find them on discount.. There is always *something* on discount.." a sagely nod. It's a known feature of the place.

"You got my number, so it will be easier to set something up, so just let me know and we can do something, yea?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"I'll check at Wong's," offers Conner. Since she is going to sleep and he was just told to call later, he will move forward with his plan to make the apartment look inhabited by a human being and not an alien that doesn't need light bubs. "I'll call you in the morning and maybe we can have lunch together," he adds. "And we can make some plan for the short, so very short, spring break."
