Betsy hires a bouncer
Date of Scene: 25 May 2021
Location: Sion - Nightclub
Synopsis: Betsy hires James.
Cast of Characters: Betsy Braddock, James Proudstar

Betsy Braddock has posed:
It's a lovely day outside, full of sunshine and the fluffy white clouds everyone hopes for this time of year. But Betsy can only see the dimmed light through the treated, darkened windows, as she sits at a booth, surrounded by paperwork all over the table. The supermodel ninja has her purple hair pinned up in a smooth french twist, dressed in a deep aubergine blouse that neatly pairs with charcoal houndstooth slacks and sky high black stilettos with the infamous red bottoms that give away the designer. She's got a tall glass with clear liquid, lots of ice, and several slices of lime in easy reach, as she reads over all sorts of forms.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar wanders in off the street, he's dressed nicely, dark blue denims, white oxford and a navy blazer. HIs hair is done in a stylish twist, and he is wearing functional but inexpensive dress shoes, which are well taken care of and polished. He wanders over to the booth casually, and smiles as he slips into the bench across from you, "If you're missing the day, you should at least be getting ice cream." He places a cup of chocolate overdose next to your papers.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy Braddock lifts her eyes when the door opens, you don't get many mid-day visitors to a nightclub that's not really open for business. Violet eyes land on the younger man wandering inside, she reaches for her glass, a long sip from a stainless steel straw as she sets her pen down. "Now James, you should know better than to offer a model ice cream." She arches her eyebrows, even as she sits back. She'll scoop up the cup of ice cream, like an excited little kid, laughing. "So.. please tell me you've come here to work. There's so many things, and I need people I can trust."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar smirks, "Yeah, model, ice cream? No, Ninja, ice cream? Yes, please." He laughs at the giggles and smiles, nodding, "Yeah, I did want to talk about that. I'd been helping Emma over at the Hotel in mutant town, heading up the night shift but that's slowing down and the school is closing for the summer. It's just been a busy time, and while I still have /responsibilities/ in Westchester, I'm was starting school at Columbia in the fall, and looking to get a place with Nicole in the city. She's in Brooklyn and works at The Good Room? She tends bar, but she has to be in the closet, and how much better to get a place close to midtown, if we were both working at Sion... oh, Psi- I just got that, cute. Anyway, yeah, and she can be more open about who she is. So, actually, I wanted to talk about a few jobs, what do you need in terms of Kitchen staff? There's some mutant town folks who would come all this way for something."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
There's a smirk when he catches on. "Psionic, Sion means something along the lines of heaven or utopia, then there's the fact it's a purple flower, in Japanese. I may have overthought it." She will eat another spoonful of ice cream, eyes casting downward to look at her papers. "I'd love to hire you as a bouncer. Send her over, and I can see about her for a bar position. No one needs to hide here, unless they want to. Upstairs.. I'll have to give you the tour. There's a VIP lounge... but it's really meant to be more of a mutant meeting spot, for people that need such a thing. Looking for work, or a place to live, a job done, that sort of thing. " Psylocke shrugs, just a bit. "There's a very small kitchen off of that, but there's always food available for that lounge. Down here, we only offer a limited menu for lunches and dinners, before we clear everything up for the nighttime club crowds. I do plan on brunch Sundays, though." There's a slow, deep exhale. "But I'm wanting to hire mutants, because I want to use what I am building as another brick paving the way to acceptance. So bar backs, bartenders, bouncers and security, cleaning.."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar nods, "I can get you a lot of that, and even for the small kitchen, the food pantry over there is top notch. Every Bit helps Betsy, and sure, I can bounce, I can also help with some of these logistics if you show me how? I mean you're a busy lady and it might be good to have a sexy young assistant." He says this with the sort of dry deadpan humor for which the Apache are known. "I mean these really are the prime tanning hours and you have your modeling career to consider."

"It sounds great Betsy, I mean its nice to see so many disparate groups trying to make thinks better for us, make a path forward. Doing something other than smacking the problem with out fists, or minds, or blasting it ... you get the picture."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
"Do you actually have any experience in logistics, liquor licenses, building and food inspection?" Betsy will lift her eyebrows at him. "I've been taking business courses, to make sure I'm completely ready, and I've had experience in businesses since I was well... before I even knew what I was." She will finish her ice cream, setting the cup aside, out of reach of the papers. "The courses on human resources alone was a headache, let me tell you. And hiring mutants, who may have special requirements for whatever reason, may be even worse. I want everyone to succeed, not just me."
There's a shake of her head. "Darling, you clearly haven't paid attention to my shoots. Unless a client /wants/ tan, I'm known for the English rose pale complexion." She smirks. "But I will have trips for shoots, and I'm working on another side business, so yes, I will eventually need an assistant. But let's work on you getting into everything here and becoming one of my managers. I can't be here all the time, despite the fact the couch in my office doubles for sleeping."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar smiles and tilts his head, "Xavier's is a school, but it's also a commercial endeavor at least in the eyes of the government, Running the ranch remotely and I've been working over at the Emma's place. I've dealt with logistics for construction at the Hotel, managed small teams remotely to keep the ranch going, dealt with the building and kitchen kitchen inspections for the Mansion, I mean would you send Logan? I'm self taught and no I haven't dealt with the liquor aspect but if you think the mob isn't involved in construction... I don't doubt that it would require specialized skills, which would be great experience working towards my MSW." Jim picks up your ice cream cup and slides his own inside it and tosses both into a wast pail from halfway across the room. "I get it Betsy, I know the general perception of me and I know I spent a lot of time in Yana's shadow." He shrugs, "You know I can bounce, I can also help you find some people for those other positions, bar backs, bouncers and security, cleaning. I can have Nicole ask around about bartenders." He grins, nods, "I'll do what I can to help Betsy."

"James laughs til he snorts, "It has a name, and thank you for not sorting through my thoughts to find every time I've glanced at your perfect thighs. Being around Emma is a bit much." He offers a wan grin, "You know there's always spare rooms at the mansion, you really need to get out more, British paleness and all."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
"James, I am not one to go on perceptions. I mean, sure they work in my favor - people often think I'm some empty headed model with designs on a title in Europe, somewhere. And I use that to my advantage." She shrugs. "I don't go digging in thoughts unless there is a damn good reason. Men looking at me, when I use the body to make a legal living, is not a reason at all. I work hard to make people /want/ to look at my body, after all." She reaches for her water. "I'm fully aware of the conditions of the campus, I just am trying to juggle a lot. Renting a place here in Manhattan just makes sense. No burning the candle too long, all of that."
She moves, hands shuffling papers, straightening things into particular piles she slides into each folder. There's a sheet slid at James, along with a pen. A very expensive one, of course. "Fill that out, and I'll get you on the payroll. I'll give you a bonus for every position you fill, and everyone else that brings someone in I can hire will get the same."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar holds up his hands, "Hey, friendly fire, I'm not accusing or saying I don't appreciate your efforts, I mean, I don't even make a living off it but I can't say that I don't work to accentuate what I've been given. I mean at the every least maybe we can get a workout in? And that is not a euphemism. I'm trying to be a friendly voice offering you a chance to relax, work off some stress." Jim smiles and nods, "You are doing a great job, a better job than anyone else could, I think finding a place in the city is a good idea, sleeping in your office is a little to romantic comedy for someone as high class as you. I'm sorry if I seemed to imply you were doing anything other than a great job." He nods, and starts to fill in the paperwork, "Right Boss, I will send Nicole over and some of the mutant town folks, so you can talk to them. I'll send the best three and we can go over your notes?"

Betsy Braddock has posed:
"Oh, I wasn't taking it as fire at all, James." Indeed, Betsy's voice is that usual calm and cool, with that British accent. "I would hope it wouldn't be a euphemism. I'm about to become your boss, and you're trying to get me to hire the girlfriend you have, besides." She takes another sip of water, adding a clip to a folder to flag it as something in particular. Violet eyes lift and lock onto his face. "Too Romantic comedy?" There's a sigh. "James, I may have a noble title in England, but here that means absolutely zilch. I'm working hard, and I designed my office to be comfortable enough for long nights that have a too short morning to follow. There's nothing at all romantic about it, I assure you." There's a smirk lingering there. "Nicole and three more. Yes. If I find them acceptable, I'll call you and we can discuss. But I have a call I must make, to set up another meeting." She rolls her eyes at that.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar ohs and smiles, "Yes, I have trouble reading Charles as well." Jim sighs, "It probably comes from spending too much time around teenagers. Everything is a euphemism." James watches her work, and nods, with a small smirk, at her tone, "No, I imagine there wouldn't be, but you're building something for yourself. So, there is that." Jim nods and stands, "Right, I'll leave you to it then." He pushes the paper work back towards you casually and heads for the door.
