Welcome to Earf
Date of Scene: 19 March 2020
Location: Central Park
Synopsis: Knockout shows up and hassles Thor.
Cast of Characters: Kay Fury, Thor

Kay Fury has posed:
Well. Today? It has sucked.

Badly.

As if Knockout getting kicked out of the Female Furies wasn't bad enough, Granny Goodness decided to dump her here on Earth, sans her Mother Box which would have allowed her a way back to Apokolips. Of course that was kind of a given, knowing that she'd only come back to cause trouble if they didn't take it from her. So now the fiery redhead is stuck here, no means of anything like... well, anything.

The warrioress-turned-outcast has managed to acquire some clothing (yes, she did steal it but c'mon, she doesn't have any money, what was she supposed to do?) and even got her hands on a small backpack, that being where she has stashed her costume and a few other odds and ends she managed to get her hands on. A lot of wandering through the city has brought her here, the park strange but somehow comforting to find herself here. She's currently sitting on the edge of one of the massive expanses of grass, looking at the lake as she tries to figure out where she's going to stay tonight.

Thor has posed:
The city is not always kind. Even to the newly arrived. She likely had moments during the day when she was hurried on he way, or times when an occasional pickpocket would try and ply his trade when she was considering her surroundings. Sure she didn't entirely fit the bill of a tourist, and yet...
But there in Central Park, at least there was a measure of reprieve. There were enough people around, all enjoying some aspect of the park. From the gathering along one large clearing, some sort of folk festival. To the paddle boats in the lake. All the way to just the people running on the grass or sitting and enjoying the sun. A sun that has melted all the snow and gifted the world with Spring.
And for Thor it was excuse enough to come out. For he had a purpose. It was down the way over at that folk festival, with the acoustic guitar music coming from. There that people had gathered all to cheer and laugh and sing, and sometimes there'd be a voice that comes over the speakers to advise people about the horrors of the world and in not recycling.
Those voices were dull for the most part, nasally and whiny and at times addlepated. But what might catch Kay's attention is when a larger than voice life comes on over those speakers. A man on stage holding up a hand, apparently people there were cheering him as he spoke. And his voice? Strong, deep, charismatic. It was a powerful thing as he responded.
"I bid you greetings, good people! And am pleased you are so unified to see your world bettered. Continue to do what you do!"
And the people cheered as he waved, and then they approached the stage. People surged in his direction. But who was he? Sure he was taller than most of those around him. Yet he looked no better put together than some of the others she's seen with his clothes being a touch... lived in. Those work boots, those blue jeans, that denim jacket on a hoodie. He just looks like a man. Albeit a handsome one.

Kay Fury has posed:
The cheering is what draws Knockout's attention where the festival itself did nothing to gain her interest. Why would people cheer? Shrugging, she stands up, remembering to grab her bag so her meger belongings won't be stolen before rising to her feet. She slowly heads in that direction, not sure what to make of all of the hubbub. Is it safe to approach? Takes her a bit to assess that it is but once she does she pushes her way up to the stage, physically shoving those in her way out of it.

Thor is watched intently by her once she's positioned right before him. He should have no difficulties seeing her, seeing as how tall she is, and how incredibly long her hair is despite it having been pulled back, and her physique! She's definitely a lot stronger than most anyone, man or woman, but not in what might be considered 'muscle bound'. Instead, there's an underlying strength beneath a well-toned form.

Thor has posed:
The people she passes are distinctly individuals of a type. Old clothes, or poorly kept. A good amount with poor grooming or perhaps not the best cleaning methods. And there's a smell amongst them, one of the weeds they smoke on this planet is simply overwhelming there around them. Some are smoking openly, some are still being surreptitious about it, but it continues.
And as she gets closer it becomes a little harder to move, the crowd has gotten thicker. Many of them have their cellular phones out, recording the tall man as he walks from the stage. Some ask him questions.
"So hey, hammer guy. Are the Avengers one hundred percent green?"
To which he answers as he walks, looking curiously, "What? No. I believe only Banner and Lady Walters are green. The rest are different colors."
More questions hurled, and he does his best to answer, until eventually they start to slip away when the next song starts, the music kicking up. Though some remain and it's in that moment that Thor espies her. And, to be fair, she does stand out comparatively.
A small exhalation comes from him, what would be a laugh if it was given more life as he then asks of her, "Greetings, and have you a question as well, good lady?"

Kay Fury has posed:
Knockout simply watches at first, not sure why these tiny people are asking questions like they are. But, then again, it seems like the man they're posing them to seems to encourage them, so...

When Thor asks her if she has a question to ask she merely blinks, at first, not knowing who this person is and why he'd ask her that. Takes her a second before, with something of a shrug, she asks, "Who are you?" Huh? She doesn't know who Thor, the god of thunder is? Hahahaha, nope, and it just might shock the hell out of the guy to discover that there is at least one person who has no clue as to who he is.

Thor has posed:
Curiously enough he takes it in stride, across the nine realms he is known assuredly so. But there are also many that do not. And so he nods to her, "Forgive me for presuming. I am Thor, Son of Odin." Names that may or may not be familiar. His lip twists slightly as he looks at the people still filming or taking quick photos, some are even taking little selfies and then typing quickly on their phones.
For a moment his gaze drifts over her, but then he nods. "If you will excuse me." For if she is not there to see him then assuredly she has no interest in speaking with him.
He starts to walk off and one of the young men sighs as he hangs off of one of the other young women. He turns his head to the side and murmurs, "I know I don't have a chance, but just... damn." And then they laugh and start to walk away, but then Knockout might hear one of them laugh, a little meanly and say, "You hear that fucking accent? Fucking renfestival bullshit."
And still laughing they walk away as well.

Kay Fury has posed:
"Wait. Don't you want to know who I am?" Frowning, Knockout follows after Thor, her mind reeling even as she addresses him. A name... name! She really can't give Knockout as her name, can she? Means she'll have to come up with an... alias, right? That is what they're called? "I'm Kay. Kay..." Pausing, she struggles to find a last name to go with that. "... Fury." Oy. Well, guess that's what she'll be going with. Could be worse, though.

Once she gives her 'name' she continues to folow him, her expression somewhat desperate. No, not in THAT way. Desperate in the way someone who needs help is desperate. "I am new... here. I really don't know what to do or where to go. Could you help me, please?" Here's for hoping Thor feels charitable or something.

Thor has posed:
One of the girls in that crowd makes a 'tsch' noise at something Kay says, perhaps not buying it. But when Thor turns to face the newly dubbed Kay, he cocks his head to the side curiously and then nods, "Very well," He extends a hand toward her, open and ready to clasp her forearm if she accepts as he murmurs. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance Kay Fury." His lip twists a little at the last word there, "Though you do not seem to live up to your name save perhaps in your fiery mane."
That said he straightens and meets her eyes, his own bright and blue, "You are new? To the city?" He gives a nod, "Do you have funds?" He looks to the side and the crowd has mostly wandered, though some will occasionally still look across the way and snap a shot.
"Tell me what has passed and perhaps I can aid you."

Kay Fury has posed:
Knockout's eyes narrow, both at the tsk from someone, that girl getting a cool glare shot her way, and then again when Thor comments upon the name she chose. Okay. So it isn't a very good name! She gets it. But really? "I am fiery, Thor Odinson. And I am a force to be reckoned with." She clasps foreamrs with him, a familiar gesture to her as it is a warrior's gesture.

"I am new to this land," she then explains. "I was left here by those I used to... work for after they decided they no longer needed my services." A nice way of explaining her situation, hopefully painting her in a sympathetic light as some poor woman abandoned in a new place without any resources at all. "Funds? Oh. No. I do not have any." Whatever those might be.

Thor has posed:
There's something in her grip and when she squeezes his arm he can feel the palpable strength there as she tenses taut muscles. His own gaze meets hers and his eyebrow quirks, curious, surprised a little. Then a half-smirk touches his lips as his grip on her arm tightens... and for a time they look at each other, staring in each other's eyes and his smile slips into a laugh.
The grip is held, his bicep growing, a faint vein visible upon that powerful muscle as he keeps eye contact, and he murmurs, "You seem strong at the very least, Lady Fury." It only lasts a few seconds, the tension, the firm grip. And then it ends and he nods.
"Funds are needed in this land, you use it to gain shelter and goods." He does not seem to be pressing on her background, at least for now. Perhaps sensing her desire to keep it to herself.
"Have you skills to offer, or any talents? Or an object to trade?"

Kay Fury has posed:
Hopefully Thor wasn't expecting Kno... Kay to flinch because she doesn't. No, but she does return the squeeze, allowing Thor to see a glimpse of her own musclature. She probably isn't quiet as strong as Thor is, but she is close if not. Once her arm is releasted it, along with the other, gets wrapped around her as she relaxes, standing now with a hip cocked to the side. Where Thor laughed she does not, a bit more on the serious side for now.

His observation of her strength gets a faint, somewhat lopsided, grin to form. "As are you. Impressively so." Very impressively so. Hmmm. When he explains the need for money she frowns, that semi-smile gone. "I see. Well, I am a fighter. I was trained to use my strength to fight. But I do not know if anyone would need such from someone in such a land as this."

Thor has posed:
"It depends, someone with your strength assuredly will be engaged. But be wary, there are many who would use your abilities to no good and harm the innocent." He says as if that would be an issue. But then he starts walking, nodding to her for her to walk with him. His hands settle into his pockets while he moves and then nods to her.
"I can grant you my advice, and perhaps grant you a place to stay for a bit of time while you seek what path you would have." He lifts a hand, "Yonder lies lodgings, I will speak with the manager there and secure what quarters I can. Then we shall adjourn and break bread if you will share the evening repast with me."
That said he murmurs, "Is this acceptable to you?"

Kay Fury has posed:
There's an attempt to look mildy disturbed at the mere thought of being taken advantage of, Kay widening her eyes and her mouth going open in a slight 'oh'. "That does indeed sound like it is something to keep aware of, Thor. Thank you for being so honest about that." It's a fact that gets inwardly discarded though as she has no qualms about using what she can do for bad. Clearing her throat, she absorbs everything else that's said, that all being important information that she needs to dedicate to memory.

As she's asked if she finds his offer of help with finding a place to stay as well as a meal acceptable she nods once, her gratefulness showing in her expression. "Indeed it is, Thor. Thank you."

Thor has posed:
The tall man nods to her and then smiles easily enough, his hand gesturing in the direction he intends to go, across that park and over the walkways, beyond the large fountain that trickles and shines in the sunlight. He gives a nod to her and murmurs, "Then come, let us walk and as you go you may tell me what you can of your homeland if you so wish. Or what has brought you low in such a way."
That said he begins walking moving along with that steady gait, and she may notice that as they go they sometimes get a few second glances, a flash from a cellphone. A young woman at one point runs up and asks, "Hey Thor, can I?"
To which he replies, "But of course!" As he leans in and flashes up a peace sign to the camera, grinning for the flash, and then walks along. He falls into step beside her, however, and then adds. "Forgive me for the occasional interruption."

Kay Fury has posed:
It is easy for the leggy one to keep up with him, walking quickly nowhere near a strain on her stamina. "My homeland is one of great turmoil," she answers with a shrug. She's not providing a name of where it is she's from, but hell, that can describe one of any numerous places here on Earth that are hit hard by some disaster or another. "Lots of fighting, a lot of struggle. Not very easy to get ahead." Angling her head to the side, she chuckles. "Those I used to work with took exception to my way of talking. Behaving. They decided to leave me here to teach me a lesson, I suppose."
The way people take pictures and the one girl dashes up to Thor has Kay taken aback, once again confused by all of this. "Why are they doing that?"

Thor has posed:
It's only when the last young woman rushes off with her selfie that Thor rejoins her and he smiles a little, embarrassedly but offers a shrug in lieu of an explanation for the next few paces. It's only once they've gotten further down the line that he tells her, "There was some turmoil a few years ago. I did what I cold to help the people and much of the fighting took place in this city." He looks up, gaze distancing as he gestures with a nod, "They are still fixing some of the damage done."
And indeed, one of the skyscrapers does have a mass of scaffolding along the side. "So they wish to have a momento of that history, and who am I to begrudge them?"
That said he reaches the fountain and walks past it, the pair of them still getting the eyeball of passersby now and again. He stops and hits the button for the crosswalk then waits, turning to her.
"So they left you here in Manhattan? A curious place for this is the crossroads of the world in many ways."

Kay Fury has posed:
She hadn't noticed the damage before, but it is hard to miss, now. Kay shakes her head, awed. "What could cause such damage to such huge buildings," she muses out loud, not noticing that she asked the question outwardly. Shaking her head, she turns slightly, pivoting her head so that she can see Thor more fully. "So they ask you to do something for them because you were a part of that? Shouldn't it be you who is having something..." Shaking her head, Kay's hands find their way to the pockets of her jeans, her shoulders taking on a slight slouch.

Again with a question. Sighing, she looks at her walking companion and shrugs. "I have to wonder why they dumped me here as well," she admits. "But better here than somewhere I couldn't provide for myself at all, or where help wouldn't have been as easy to find."

Thor has posed:
"Ah, as to that." Thor says as he starts across the street, hands in his pockets once again as he strolls along casually. A glance to the side is given to her as he moves and then he nods in the direction of the hotel they're walking toward, "It was an army that was attacking, and I stood against them with the aid of several friends. It was a mighty battle, but eventually we were able to prevail though the price was high."
He frowns a little, gaze distancing, but then he looks to her. "But help is not so easy to find in this city. Though I doubt you would have been left to your own devices long. You are far too comely and strong to be ignored. Someone or another would have rushed in to make your acquaintance. Though..."
The Thunderer crinkles his nose a little, "They may have attempted to take advantage of you for such aid. Which would have bee unpleasant."
And that's the point they reach the hotel, "I shall arrange matters, see what can be done. Then I will take my leave of you. Though I will give you the means you need to contact me should you so wish."
With that he opens the door and gestures for her to precede him.

Kay Fury has posed:
"An army did that," Kay asks, motioning towards the skyscraper that's in midrepairs. "It must of truly been an impressive army if they were to cause that kind of damage." She must've been living under a rock when the battle took place because surely anyone with any kind of access to the news of the world would have heard of the war Thor's speaking about.

Huffing something of an aborted laugh out her nose, she shakes her head, Kay stopping to look up. "I am sure I must seem simple-minded to you. But trust me when I say that it is not as easy to take advantage of me as you seem to think." Now, that's not exactly true, as those who she fought for most certainly did, but she has yet to realize that was the case.

Thor has posed:
"Still," Thor says as he walks over across the lobby, now with Kay Fury next to him. They enter the place and they get a few second glances, a look, and the clerk on duty picks up his phone almost immediately for some reason. It's across the wide brilliant lobby they move, over the marble floors, past the beautiful live plants and water feature, to the gleaming black as onyx front desk. It's there that he gives a nod to the man at the desk.
"Greetings, good fellow. I would secure lodgings for my companion for..." He looks at Knockout and quirks an eyebrow, "Two weeks?" And that said he looks back. "What have you available?"
The clerk, a young man blinks and nods, "Of course, sir." Then in a quieter voice he adds, "Also, for the record, huge fan."
    Thor smiles.
There's the sound of keys clicking and clacking, and then after some time he says, "Two weeks, and..." He extends a card to Kay, "The option to renew if needs be,"
It, for some reason, does not seem to take that much effort and the card acquired, Thor turns to her with a nod. "There, take what time you need, gather yourself, and if you wish ask these people to contact me and they shall."

Kay Fury has posed:
Kay just stands there, not sure what's transpiring. The way Thor and the hotel manager interact is not anything she's used to seeing, business transactions not a part of her life before today. Her attention's fleeting, however, and soon she's looking around the lobby, taking in its splendor. Imagine her surprise when she turns back around and finds something held out in her direction. "Oh. Uh... than you."

Looking at Thor, now, she grimaces, looking a bit confused. "I will have them contact you. Thank you very much for your help, Thor. I will stay in touch." Wait. Stay in touch? Just how does Kay plan on doing that when she has no means of communication upon her person?

Thor has posed:
"Until another time," He smiles, perhaps not aware of her lack of understanding, though perhaps trusting that if she has question the staff will answer. That said he turns and begins to walk back across the lobby towards the door, while near to her the young man at the counter leans forwards and takes a breath.
"Do you have any luggage for us to help you with, ma'am?"
