Cast of Characters: Gabby Kinney, Atrid

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney was familiar enough with this coffee shop that she's able to shamble in half-asleep. Or at least it seems so from the bags under her eyes, and the fact that she squints at the list of beverages on the wall while making her decision. Clearly the result of lack of sleep or working too hard, yet given the time of year it's quite possible she was just cramming for finals in High School. Once it's her turn at the counter she leans against the counter lazily. "I'll have a latte with simple syrup, no flavoring. Um. And a slice of lemon loaf. And a chocolate chip cookie. That's it." The money is fished out of her pocket to plonk on the counter even as she yawns wide.

Atrid has posed:
Atrid comes in shortly after Gabby and approaches the counter once Gabby's money is taken and change given back he sidles up to the counter. "Yea let me get a regular coffee and may I get a double shot of espresso in it as well?" He asks as he drops some money into the baristas hand. Atrid heads over to a table nodding to Gabby before he takes a seat and waits for his order to get called out. "I'm here again." He chuckles to himself.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Hey," Gabby idly greets at the nod given her way. She does stare after the fellow a moment with a look of curiosity on her face. Before she has time to think much on it the pastries she ordered are handed over on a plate. The drink took longer to make of course. With a plate of each in hand she turns around to glance over the pretty crowded cafe. With a shrug she heads to the table Atrid went to. "Hey," she greets again. "Mind if I join you? Pretty busy in here today."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid starts when Gabby comes over to where he sits. "I...Ummm...No go ahead have a seat." He says nervously looking around and when his order is called out he heads to grab his coffee taking a sip and sighing in contentment. He makes his way back to the table and sits back down taking another sip. "Im Bjorn, Bjorn Knutsen." He states with a nod and takes another long drink.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney grins at him while she sinks down into the chair with a tired sigh. "I'm Gabby Kinney, nice to meet you." Then out of the blue she says the most potentially rude thing ever: "I like your scars." Then again she had a few on her face, too. Gesturing at her plate of goodies she also offers, "You can have the cookie if you want. I probably shouldn't be eating so much junk food anyway."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid shakes his edge at the cookie. "Im not really a sweets guy dahlin, its a pleasure ta meetcha though." He says with a bit of a smile as he takes yet another drink of his coffee. "I...ummm...thanks....Its a parting gift from my dear sweet parents. They found out, I was...ummmm...well...different ta say the least." Bjorn states softly. "Yer the first person tha's ever complimented my scars if I'm bein' honest."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney grins a bit in response to that. "Oh, yeah, mine were a 'gift' too but not from my parents. Don't have any," she points out even as she reaches up to poke the trailing end of the scar down her cheek. "But I've got other family that are cool. And 'different' as well," she admits with a shrug. "Yeah, most people get weird about scars but just prooves you survived something if you ask me. So they're interesting."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid nods and takes another long drink as he thinks. "Yea I got mine when dear ol' dad tried to beat me to death. He used a kitchen knife to gimme these." He gestures to each scar. "Dropped me off at da hospital and neva came back fa me." He says simply before tapping the table. "Ran away from the social worker before she could take me ta a home, where I knew no one would adopt a /special/ child. That was about 3 months ago or so, been on my own and on the streets eva since."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney crinkles her nose a bit at that. "Sounds like a real winner, your dad. Oh hang on." She hops to her feet to head for the counter since her own drink is done. It's brought back steaming hot, and she's already taking a sip regardless of that. "Well there's lots of places for special kids to get help, you know. I know a few myself." Sitting down she stares at her coffee a moment, then shrugs and sticks her finger into it. "This is probably really hot still, right?" Not that she flinches or shows any pain.

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles and moves closer placing his left hand over the cup and Ice hitting the coffee to cool it off a bit. "Special...like me?" He asks before looking around making sure no one is looking at them and ignites his right hand in flames before letting it fade off. "I aint met too many that are lookin' ta be helpin' folks like me."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney nods solemnly at the display with a quiet whisper of, "Okay that was pretty cool." She takes her finger out of the coffee cup to lick clean real quick before actually going for her coffee. It didn't matter that it had ice in it now. "Yeah, like that. Mine aren't as showy though." She considers a moment, glancing around, and offers another shrug. Leaning forward on the table to half hide it she makes a fist. A single bone claw pops out of the back of her hand to display, before it retreats again just as quick. "There's folks around. Just got to get in touch with the right ones."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles and nods his head a few times up and down. "Thats still pretty bad ass, it was when my parents found out about that, that I had this happen to me. My parents are hardcore anti mutant human supremacists. So you know some of these places and people to get in touch with?" Bjorn asks looking around. "May I ask how old you are dahlin'?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"I'm sixteen," Says the girl who looks like she hadn't hit puberty or a growth spurt yet. She got the short end of the stick on being short it seems. "And yeah I know a few. I can pass word on if you want. They don't really have a business card," she admits with a shrug. "How about you? How old are you?" Even as she asks she takes a long gulp of her coffee intending to get caffienated one way or another.

Atrid has posed:
Atrid takes a long sip of his coffee and leans back. "Im seventeen, myself. Youre kind of adorable, and small fer sixteen I figured more like thirteen or fourteen given your height. But youre maturity says your about the same age as me. Though in all honesty I don't really like or trust most people."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney juts her lower lip out like a kid truly would, blowing a puff of air into her bangs. "Yeah, well. My genetic donor is on the very, very short side. I'm expecting a growth spurt any time now!" Would it happen? Who knew. But she was certainly hoping for it. Grabbing the cookie she'd offered earlier she tears a bit off to dunk into the coffee before eating it. It wasn't quite milk and cookies but it was still good. "Anyway I go to this school for kids like us. It's kinda hush hush to keep things as safe as possible. Helps with figuring out how to work with your powers and still gives like, regular schooling, too."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles. "To cute." He chuckles at her taking another long sip. "You want me to heat up yer coffee fer ya dahlin'?" He asks with a smile and winks at her. "Anyway there's actually a school fer folks like us? Where I dont have ta worry abou' accidentally losin' control." Bjorn thinks for a moment or two.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney considers the offer on her coffee thoughtfully. Squinting at it she finally nods. "A little bit yeah. I like cold coffee too but wasn't really planning on it right now," she admits openly. "The school is a pretty cool place. Lots to do, lot of people to meet. We've even got a pool and a lake to mess around with." Rather proudly she adds, "I set up a slingshot that can throw people into the center of the lake. It's great!"

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles igniting his hand and holding it over the cup heating the coffee up well and evenly before extinguishing the flames. "I dont have a whole lot of control over my powers especially if Im scared or angry or something." He says with a grin. "That much to do hmm? I ummm....lets take it a step at a time, not a huge people person remember. I tend to prefer being alone or with a small group of friends, but a pool and such and a lake? I want to go there, I mean...would it get me off the streets too?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Thanks!" Gabby grabs her newly warmed cup to take another gulp of it with a sigh of contentment. "Man I needed this. Been staying up way too late lately." The question of getting off the street just earns a rather broad grin. "Of course! There's dorms and stuff. I've got a roommate and everything, though I had a single room for awhile. I don't think people knew what to think of me at first... Plus we had an odd amount of students in my grade, anyway, at the time."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles and leans forward. "So youre not umm, seeing anyone are ya? I mean I dont have to worry about a jealous boyfriend or girlfriend showing up and getting pissed at me fer talkin' or flirtin' with ya?" He asks with a chuckle looking around a bit leaning forward. "So Id...have to have a room mate? I hope they have good fireproofing and ice proofing in the rooms." He grins with a laugh.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney blinks a single time at that. "Seeing anyone? Nah, I dated someone awhile ago but he got all weird about thinking he was a bad influence on me and we broke up. Had some issues to work out." Considering she adds, "I don't think my sisters have an issue with that but they've been busy too." Lightly she clears her throat, moving back onto the topic of the school. "Oh, well potentially. They like to try to help socialize us that way I think? But like I said it doesn't always happen. My roommate has some explosion issues so I'm one of the few people who can put up with that."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid chuckles and nods. "Well than maybe I can take you out sometime for coffee or food or somethin?" He asks before moving back on. "I see sometimes I have bad nightmares and like when I get angry sometimes I freeze things or catch them on fire. So if Im paired up with a roomie, they either have ta be quite or flame and or ice resistant." Bjorn says with a nervous and shy grin. "This means that you have dealings with something similar than huh?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney fidgets with her coffee cup. Fingers tap against it lightly, and she finds herself grinning a bit more than she intended. "Yeah, maybe we can." On the topic of nightmares though she can only nod quickly in agreement. "She's pretty good about not doing that, but she does have a bit of a temper. Other than the claws," her voice drops so as to not be overheard by passerbys as she mentions abilities, "I can heal. So I'm kind of ideal for that."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid blinks. "A fast healer too, is there anythin' ya cant do?" He asks teasingly. "So whaddya think, dinner and a movie?" Bjorn asks with a smile taking another long drink of his coffee. "Yea well I, ummm I too have a bit of a....well as punny or cliche as it sounds I have a bit of a hot head when it comes to people messing with me and those I care about or even those who cant defend themselves." He smiles taking another long sip. "So you keep mentioning yer sistas do they have the same powers or similar as you?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney nods quickly at that. "Oh yeah, most of them do. One of my sisters is just albino, no powers. But she's cool when she's around. The others are just like me. I even have an older brother I found out about recently! He teaches PE at the school now. But, yeah, mostly we all have the same traits in the family." Leaning back in her own chair she tears off another bit of cookie to dunk. "And, um, we could, yeah. Dinner and a movie would be great."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid smiles and chuckles taking a sip of his coffee. "Yer not afraid ta be seen out with a loner goth kid who shoots flames and ice from each hand?" He asks with a chuckle. "Well thats awesome that ya all have similar powas. It makes it easier ta talk abou' and easier ta get help and have things ya have questions abou' explained to ya, right?" He asks with a smile. "Ah shit, olda brotha whos the PE teacha at the school. If we start datin' am I gonna have ta worry abou' the ya breaker heart I break yer neck speech?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney ftts at the very thought of being afraid of that. "Ellie is so much more goth," she affirms with a nod. "She's my roommate. Had to talk her into putting up some kitten posters but we reached a common ground." The other question causes her to pause. "I dunno honestly. I only recently learned about him, and him about me, so..." She can only shrug a little. "It'll probably be a better talk with him than with my sisters."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid smiles. "Well eitha way they dont have ta worry about that." He says with a smile finishing his coffee and going to order a second exactly the same. "Ya want anotha one Gabby?" He asks with a smile as he looks back to her. "But ya know Ill be more than, happy ta le' yer sistas give me the traditional threat. I take it yer the baby of the family?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney chuckles quietly, "Pretty much, yeah. I'm the last one of our batch." She pauses and corrects, "Family. Probably won't be THE last, but for now, yeah." A small shrug is given and she looks at her drink again only to sigh. "Nah I've got to head out. I'm watching over a friends house while they're out of town and can't be away too long. Just wanted to stretch my feet and get a snack."

Atrid has posed:
Atrid smiles and takes his coffee and pays the barista after having it put into a to go cup. "Alright than, well here's my number." Bjorn says handing her a slip of paper. "So might I walk you at least part of the way back ta yer friends house." He says with a slight bow. "And you having my numba this way we can set up a time and date fer our...date...if I can call it that."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney gathers up her own things. Snacks packed away in little brown baggies, and she gulps down the rest of the coffee in one go. It takes a few gulps but she manages to polish it off neatly. "Sure, I guess that's okay to go part of the way," she agrees while tucking his number away in her pocket for now.
