Oliver Queen has posed:
Memorial Day weekend. A big ol' holiday that holds lots of meaning to some and to others, it's a three-day weekend where grilling and chilling is the order of the day(s). And, of course, it's the kickoff to the summer months. How the crowds look on the weekend on the shore is a predictor for how the summer months will be in terms of tourists.

Sadly?

The weekend is cool, grey and rainy. There are few on the boards, and rentals on the shore are down. Waaay down.

Starling City is a mess.

Running the boards in the dark greyness of the mid-morning is one Oliver Queen, dressed in grey sweats, hoodie (it's that chilly, yes!) and sneakers. Running with a touch of parkour, actually. The benches are jumped on, the wooden-slatted backs run across, then a quick jump to an iron clad garbage can, and back down on the boards with another set of benches just beyond.

"C'mon.. keep up.." is encouraged as a flock of seagulls run quickly out of the way of the oncoming Queen. (They'll be damned if they have to fly!)

Thea Queen has posed:
Yay, tourists! The Young Queen likes them as much as she enjoys waking up at 0530 (yes, military time. That's how deep she is in into all this training seriously!). Yet they are both a necessity, one so that she doesn't turn into a soft 'slob' like she has been in her 'dark years', the other so the city continues to prosper. Doesn't mean she won't growl and snarl at either, bit of a side-eyed look at a couple that hasn't noticed they are standing right in the middle of the track meant for runners on the board walk.

Snarling at being awake at 0530? That had been done earlier...

Yet this is all part of a routine now because no matter how much she may complain early once she gets into the rhythm there's that tenacious Queen blood coming to the fore.

"Look..." She says while she is catching up at a run, a few steps behind Oliver, "... not all of us are made out of muscles." one hand on the garbage can as she slides atop it, pressing her on to keep up with her brother.

A bit of a complaint to set him up, perhaps to have him look back again to her to see what's up. Because she will use that opportunity to sprint forward and past Ollie to race him to those benches!

There's a reason she is called Speedy in some circles.

Oliver Queen has posed:
The worst part of it all is that Oliver is just so damned .. cheery at 0530. Waaaaaay too cheery. At least Slade had the grace to grunt and grumble, his raspy tones distinctly -not- cheery at that hour, so one would be a little free-er to be a little .. complain-y.

But no.

If Oliver could find a way to make the morning run a little more obnoxious, he certainly may have found it.

Oliver runs to the next bench, and slides to a stop, balancing easily on the 10cm board in sneakers and looking back at his sister who is trailing him, but only by seconds. "C'mon.. you can do it. You.."

And there she goes!

Taking the opportunity to leap off the boards, he spins and sprints after his sister, a barked laugh in the air behind her now as he chases her down to the next set of benches. "Careful or I'll use this as your new benchmark for training." Nothing like setting the base bar higher!

Thea Queen has posed:
Thea is dressed for running today. A hoodie to fend off the cold like her brother has even if instead of pants she went with a pair of tight shorts that go close to her knees. Got to show off those long legs! Legs that end in her favorite running sneakers, already worn with use.

And damn right she will be putting those sneakers to work.

She is running hard now, the hood out of her head and hair flowing freely, she eyeing the bench and the best way to approach the obstacle. No just running past it, that's not part of the training. She jumps up to it, nimble, feet landing for a moment atop the bench and she gathering impulse to toss herself over to the other side in a jump...

And to her credit she barely loses her stride. That training *is* paying off.

"My new high and or your new low?" She taunts back at her brother. "I will make sure to let Diggle know!" she teases. Bit of a mistake to focus so much on talking while pushing her body though. Her stamina still has a ways to go to become as good as it was before so it becomes visible she is making an effort to keep up now after the quick burn.

Not that she gives up! And those seagulls better learn to fly fast because she isn't stopping for anyone or anything!

Oliver Queen has posed:
The fun part about parkour is that one rarely spends time on the ground, or on parts of things on the ground. One is freeeee to jump, cling, climb.. and spotting a less than likely spot to do just that, Ollie takes to dumpsters, an awning to a building, a couple of handholds on a sign, and he's up on a roof.

"I couldn't get him up this morning," Oliver laughs. It's a 'gulped for air' sort of quality that his words hold, however; he's not immune to the workout he's giving both himself and his sister. This is actually one of the more 'aggressive' training sessions he's had for both himself and his sibling, and it feels good.

Like old times. Well, older times, coupled with the balance the pair have achieved, and still achieving.

One leap atop the HVAC on the roof, and he's padding across, ready to drop a hand in order to lift his sister up on a somewhat likely bit of building architecture.

Thea Queen has posed:
"Now that's just cheating..." Thea mutters to herself when Ollie goes and uses his tall, bulkier build to go up those dumpsters and over the side of a building. And then up on the roof?! Well fine, then. He wants gloves to be off? Then gloves do come off... Not literally, because she isn't wearing any. But you know ..., that determined look take hold of the little sister's expression, not wanting to stay behind on the training.

"He is wise." Thea says about Diggle not getting up. He is also married. Thea was sure that had an influence on his decision as well. Good for her that she had no such attachments at the moment. Less chances of feeling abandoned!

Thea emulates somewhat the pathway up to the building, but with her own twist. Rebel to the core! She takes to the trash cans, but instead of using the awning she jumps up to the fire escape, barely catching on, legs danging. But quickly enough she climbs up the outside of it some, up to another sign further ahead and just in time to catch Oliver's hand at the end of it to help her up.

It was all part of the training, different pathways, always on the move, using each other's strengths so one didn't fall behind. She hops up to that roof, hands on her sides and she looks over at Starling, now waking up to the world. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

Oliver Queen has posed:
Ollie does take the moment to watch his sister find her path up, her own a touch more circuitous, but it plays more to her own strengths; she's more lithe, more dextrous than he. Where he relies on strength, she relies on grace and dexterity. And ultimately?

It's a good balance.

With Thea up and on the roof with him, Oliver isn't back on the move; not immediately, anyway. He's more than willing to watch the world wake up. His world, anyway. Starling. He chuffs a breath, a breathy grunt of acknowledgement followed by a hint of a smile as he stands beside his sister. "Not too bad." Looking down at the littler Queen, brows rise, "Worth it?" Beat. "Okay, probably not. And we're going to do this again tomorrow morning because there's a company picnic today. Which.. I expect you to attend. Have to show your face at few times a year, and with you there, we might be a shoe-in to win the three-legged race."

Thea Queen has posed:
Hands rest on narrow hips as they find themselves up on that rooftop, chest heaving at the effort. Sure, Thea still had some more gas in the tank but it was good to be up there and simply .., be. She is looking across at their city, feet walking on the edge slowly, impeccable balance, a side-eyed look at Ollie. Worth it? Quite so. She almost even smiles, but she won't acknowledge it that easily...!

"Acceptable." Is the eventual answer. A compromise! Until she hears about attending a company picnic. "I can't wait to meet Ellis again..." a roll of her eyes given. The infamous personal assistant that likes to make everyone's lives miserable!

A wicked little expression coming to her face, "Yet I am sorta looking forward to beating him up on the three-legged race.." yes, seems she will be attending! If only to make someone's life miserable. Or at least that's her excuse!

"As long as I don't have to stay up to the night, you know I have to go back to handling the club. It's getting close to the opening now."

Oliver Queen has posed:
Oliver softly grunts his acknowledgment again at her pronouncement of 'acceptable' with an amused air. Brows do rise at the comment regarding Ellis, however, and he exhales in a sigh. "Until I can get someone in that is as .. dedicated to detail as he is, he stays. Besides, he hasn't done anything //wrong//." There's his sense of 'right'; not firing someone just because he doesn't like him, per se. "Just.. don't antagonize him too much, please?"

Please?

Oliver can't help it, though, and he adds with a quick grin, and a quick nudge, "We're gonna beat everyone at that race."

There's a nod that comes with it all, however, to underscore his understanding. "It'll just be a show-up, beat them all at the race, smile, say 'hi' to the staff, then I'll let you go home to sleep. I was thinking about the basement again, and need to have a chat with Fel on what we can do to beef up security down there. I'm pretty sure she'll have ideas."

Though, for now? He nods in the general direction of home, and offers up that quick grin again, followed by, "Race you home."

Thea Queen has posed:
Please? Now someone is really pushing it... But fiiiine, open hearted as she is Thea seems to acquiesce it. No antagonizing Ellis... Too much.

She even puts in a, "Girl's scout promise!" Which is suspicious as all heck. Thea certainly is no girl scout! Or anything remotely close to it. Yet Oliver is making her be there so damn right she will do as she pleases! A grin comes to her lips. "Don't worry, I will make him love you oh so much more, big brother.." followed by a tap on the man's arm.

The comment about that basement has her press her lips to a line. Something unsaid. "Yea, about that ... I really should put you up to par about a few things." which she had been conveniently forgetting to mention. "But later."

When they are back home!

Because right now? She had a race to win! And yes, she is already running ahead before she shouts over her shoulder. "Challenge accepted!"

Yep, she clearly had some gas on the tank still!
