Date of Scene: 02 June 2021
Location: Themysciran Embassy
Synopsis: Diana and Jennifer take a little walk around the Themysciran Embassy and discuss current events and possible things to come.
Cast of Characters: Diana Prince, Jennifer Walters

Diana Prince has posed:
The Themysciran Embassy had a busy weekend, hosting some festivities for Memorial Day. They had a number of gatherings out in the courtyard where they honored military veterans of many different origins, including their own.

But, now, the week was back to business and the Embassy was much more quiet in the now. Diana had extended an invitation to Jennifer to come and visit the groudns awhile ago, and was happy to hear she'd accepted it. They'd met at the Avengers Mansion recently and she was eager to get to know the woman more.

When Jennifer arrives, she'll be greeted by an assistant at the front doors, a small English woman named Gretta Candy. Ms Candy, in her 30s, seems to be quite at home here in the Embassy and she's eagerly happy to escort Jennifer to the Princess' office. The lavish office has many windows that look out on to the grounds, and the Princess herself is seated behind her desk with her back straight, wearing a white dress that is sleeveless, her dark hair tied up on the crown of her head. She's typing on a laptop when Greeta taps on the door.

Diana looks up and sees them both, she smiles wide at them and moves to stand up. "Jennifer. It is so good you made it." Truth is, it's not very far from the Avengers Mansion at all, jjust a few blocks away.

Diana steps around her desk and walks toward Jenn to offer her hand and a thank you to Gretta.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer was a bit surprised when she received the invitation from Diana. Visiting the Embassies has been on her bucket list for a while, but her busy schedule has left her with little downtime for pleasure. But now that there's an official invitation, well, she can make time.

When Jennifer arrives at the Embassy she has to admit that she's a little bit awestruck. Partially because the building is impressive in it's own rights, and partially because of what it houses. She's always been fascinated by the Themyscirans and their culture, and this building seems to be seeped in it.

Once inside she greets Ms. Candy politely and lets herself be led to Diana's office. "Thank you for the invite, Diana," she responds, taking the Amazon's hand in her own. "I always pass by this place but never really had a chance to go inside."

Diana Prince has posed:
Gretta takes her leave from the two and heads back toward the foyer of the Embassy down its central hallway.

Diana keeps her eyes on Jenns's own and shakes her hand before she places both of hers in front of her stomach, lacing her fingers together. "Well, as an Avenger you have a standing invitation to visit any time you are passing by. The doors are always open to the Avengers." The Princess says in her accented voice. She motiosn then to her office and the sofa and chairs within it.

"Would you like to take a seat and relax a bit, or have a guided tour of the grounds?" The Princess asks showing the hints of a playful grin across her crimson painted lips. "We had a busy weekend here, but I believe the courtyard is in great shape to sit outside and enjoy the fair weather before the heat of summer settles in."

Options! Diana is offering them.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer sighs and nods. "I know. I just get wrapped up in work. There's a lot that needs to be done and I feel like I have to be the one that needs to do it," she admits. She waves a hand helplessly, "I know I should let my colleagues handle more of it. That's what I pay them for."

Her eyes light up when Diana offers to give her a tour of the embassy. "I would /love/ to see the place," she says. "It's such a nice day it would be a shame not to spend part of it outside."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana shows a nod and a smile to the other woman's words. "Yes, of course." She states softly. "I do much the same with the work around here." A quick glance is given about her office before she hears the rest and another large smile appears on her lips. "Well then, let us go on a walk about, shall we?" She motions for the other to step back out of the office area of the Embassy and in to the main hallway. The main hallway is filled with art from the island, statues and busts of various Amazon warriors, including the Queen, along with paintings of the island and its many beautiful vistas

At the end of the hallway a set of double doors show a lot of natural light that shines in from the courtyard outside. Diana walks with Jenn on her left. "This building was once the home of a New York mayor and thus there are a lot of things here from those days, while we have added on to it to bring some of our own flavor and flare." She explains.

Her eyes go over to Jennifer. "I assume you live at the Avengers mansion, or do you have a separate home? Something to call your own?" She asks

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer lingers in the hallway to take in and appreciate the art, especially the paintings of Themyscira itself. "It looks like such a lovely island," Jennifer remarks. "I'd love to go visit it one day."

She nods, "A place this big is just wasted on a single family. Using it as an embassy is putting it to much better use, in my opinion. I like what you've done with it."

She meets Diana's gaze when asked about her place of residence. "I have an apartment of my own," she says. "I love the Avengers Mansion, but I think I would go crazy from being around the guys all the time. Besides, it's nice to have a place where you can have people over and not have to give them temporary security clearance to do so."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's eyes go to one of the paintings, she pauses near to it and motiosn to a part of it. "That hill there is where I would ride my horse as a child." She explains. "The flowers would bloom early in the season and I would ride through them with a wooden training sword, trying to slap the heads with the blade, picturing them as an invading force of foreign enemies." She looks to Jenn and offer a grin at her. "Back in those days, I would miss far more than I would ever land a hit. The flowers lived to enjoy more days."

She holds her grin toward Jennifer and then motions to keep walking. "I am happy to say that a chance to go there is very much a possibility now, today. We have been making good strides in easing up the borders to trusted friends. The Queen is much more open to the discussions, after having visitors there recently and herself... visiting the United States last year."

The talk of a personal apartment has Diana smiling then. "Yes, I still have my apartment in Metropolis as well. Though I am rarely there these days, admittedly."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer's laugh is light an airy. "That sounds like a delightful childhood. I grew up in L.A. surrounded by law enforcement. My father was a county Sherriff so growing up I would pretend taking down bad guys. Later I would come to realize that not all bad guys are actually bad. They're people, too, and sometimes need somebody to advocate for them since they don't have anybody." She chuckles and shakes her head, "My dad /hated/ that I was a defense lawyer. We... eventually patched things up, but it took a lot of work on our parts."

She follows after Diana as they go on the tour of the embassy and nods. "That's what I've heard. I'm glad the visits have gone well. I know that there had been a lot of misgivings about opening up to man's world but, despite it's problems, there's a lot to love over here as well."

"I know how you feel. It's like I only go back home when it's time to go to bed." She breathes a heavy sigh, "I really need to take some more time off and relax. Working that hard isn't healthy."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is a good listener and when Jennifer opens up a bit about her past and how she became a lawyer, a defense one at that, the Princess is holding her eyes upon the other woman's face, showing facial expressions to match the intent of the words spoken to her.

"I am glad you patched things up with him." She says quietly to Jenn. The last part has her showing a sympathetic smile and releasing a light and short exhaled laugh. "Yes, you need time to yourself, to nourish your spirit as much as you have spent nourishing your career. It is vital to a balanced state of emotional stability, so I have found, at least."

They reach the double doors that lead out to the courtyard and the Princess moves to part them, pushing them forward to let the warm early summer breeze sweep over them and the sounds of the outside to go along with it.

Once outside, she leads Jenn toward a pathway that curves around the well cultivated yard of flowers and shrubbery, the yard also lined with lovely pieces of artwork from the island of paradise.

"But between your work with the courts, and your work with the Avengers, I imagine your free time is seemingly almost non existent..."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer stops as she steps outside, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, enjoying the warm summer air and the scent of flowers that waft from the yard. "This is so nice," she admits.

She turns to Diana. "If it wasn't for the fact that I love doing what I do," she says with a quirk of the lips, "it would be easier to tear myself away from it. You should invite me over more often. It'll give me an excuse to get away."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana pauses on the patio just outside of the doors in the courtyard. She looks back to Jenn who is soaking up the ambience of the atmosphere. It amuses the Princess, she unlaces her fingers and lets her hands hang at her sides before she looks around a bit herself. "Yes, I am... very happy to get to have such a lovely place to call home here in Manhattan." Her eyes go back to Jenn's then and she continues to smile at her. "Come, lets walk a bit." She urges.

Diana will turn then to one of the pathways and lead the lovely lawyer on out in to the gardens, the sound of a trickling water source coming from the fountain in the center. "You really are welcome by here any time, even if I am pre-occupied, you are welcome to come here and find a bit of respite from everything out there." She nods toward the horizon with a raise of her chin.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer nods, and is more than happy to follow Diana as she leads her around the garden. The pace is slow so they can take time to enjoy their surroundings. When they reach the fountain, she moves over to it, and runs a hand under the cool water. "Thank you for inviting me over," she says heartfeltly, turning back to Diana and meeting her gaze. "Now that I've been here I'll be sure to stop by more often."

She pulls her hand out of the water and gives it a few shakes to clean the water off of it. "How about you?" she asks. "What kind of things have you been up to lately?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana approaches the fountain as wel, she stands beside it and looks in to the water where there are well cared for plants i nthe water as well, even a few frogs sitting on lily pads in the corners near some of the foliage in the water.

She looks to Jenn when she flicks the water off of her finger sand grins at her. "Well. We have a big event coming up." She starst to explain. "The Themysciran Arts Center will be opening its doors to the public. I imagine you have seen it, on the street over from here." She motions to the east.

Her gaze goes back to Jenn then. "It will be a place to immerse yourself in all things Themyscira, from the art to the food, to the... fighting even. If you wish to learn how to fight like one of us, this will be the place to go to do just that... even fighting against some of our people. We have been lucky enough to have the Queen grant more of our sisters to reside here with me at the Embassy."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jenn's eyes light up, "Oooh! That sounds like fun! I'll definitely be there for the premiere. How formal is it?" she asks hopefully. "I love any chance I can get to dressed up. I can see myself spending a lot of time there."

When fighting is mentioned she perks up quite a bit. "Oh really? That would be... kind of awesome actually. I'm always on the lookout on getting more technique in, but it's hard to find partners that I can go toe to toe with. Most of what I know Cap has taught me, but I kind of want to go beyond that you know?" She shakes her head, "Being strong is nice and all but I don't want to rely on brute force."

Diana Prince has posed:
The warm summer wind continues to come down from above them to enter the courtyard in the three story building and gently rustle the leaves and foliage of their surroundings. Diana's hair is tied back, but she does have two loose strands that frame her face, which are softly swaying in that very breeze as she listens tot he other woman's words.

"Well, Captain Rogers is a very good teacher to have. But... if you are willing, and interested, I think this might be a good outlet for you too." She shows a quick grin and then motions for her to keep following as they continue around the courtyard.

"I will be making time to indulge there as well. We spar every morning, generally here, but now that we have an entire arena to fight within... it will be like home." She says with a warm smile for Jenn. "And you can dress in your finest attire for the event, I know I will be."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer's hair is worn loose, so it blows freely in the wind, it's thick voluminous waves framing her face. "Well, I /have/ been letting myself go," she says, patting her tummy which, truth be told, doesn't look like she's been letting herself go at all. She obediently follows Diana through the garden.

"I'll have to keep that in mind. I should make sparring a regular part of my routine," she muses. "I used to do a lot of jogging back in the day but ever since I got stuck big and green I've found that I haven't gotten much out of it. I can go for hours without getting tired." Oh, the problems of being a Hulk.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana looks over to the hand patting to the flat stomach of Jenn's and the words that go with it. Together they have the Princess laughing softly. "I understand." She says. "I am similar in that regard, but I still like to jog in Central Park. I meet... so many interesting people doing that, and many of the times they recognize me. Which I think is a good way to connect with people in the community, I think it helps put on a good public face, so to speak."

"But yes, you would be more than welcome to come to the morning training, or the evening, if you would like. I do not know if you have any weapons training, but we do hand to hand as well, so it could be a good change of pace for you."

Diana grins to Jenn then. "Perhaps I am misreading your tone, but it sounds as though you do yearn for a bit of alteration to your routine, mm?" She says in a bit of a playful way to her smoky tone of voice.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jenn returns Diana's laughter with laughter of her own. "Oh yeah. Central park is a great way to meet all sorts of people. If nothing else the nature is a welcome break from the city." The corner of her lips pull into a soft frown, though. "Hulks... don't exactly have the best public reputation. I do what I can but there are some people who still remember what happened in Times Square, though I'm glad that people have forgiven me for it." Which is a good thing since she wasn't responsible for it's destruction. Her mind controlled doppel was.

"I've had some practice with the shield," Jenn mentions. "Steve has let me toss it a couple of times, though not so much lately after I accidentally through it through the reinforced walls of our gym and through the Mansion." She can't help but grin mischievously at the memory. "It was a heck of a lot of fun, though. I would /love/ to get some weapons training, but they'll need to be pretty sturdy weapons. I can be kind of rough on them."

Jenn turns a softer grin to Diana, "Yeah. I think I would. It'll be a good workout, a great break from work, plus I get to hang out with some awesome women."

Diana Prince has posed:
The two continue through the courtyard, passing by a row of blooming white flowers hanging down from their deep green vines, the scent of their aroma thick in the air as they walk between them.

"I have only heard a bit about that, but I understand the public perception of which you mean..." The Princess quietly says. "Of course, that is only a better reason to get out there and help change it. Help advocate for yourself, and show the people of the city, and the world, that you are not what some may perceive you to be." Diana pauses, then shows a grin. "We will arrange jogging together in Central Park, how about that?" She offers to be there to help make it a thing.

She continues though. "Themysciran Steel is quite strong, though I do hope that no shields are thrown through walls. The center should be quite populated with civilians after all." She laughs softly. "Might set back any good will we earn on our jogs." She's teasing of course, and the grin she offers to Jenn should showcase that. "I held the Captain's shield once, a very... long, long time ago. We worked together for a spell in World War II. I helped mostly in secret, but... it was good to get to know him back then. He's a great man..."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer slows to admire the hanging flowers, drinking in their scent. Her eyes light up at the suggestion that they should run together. This wasn't the change of pace she was expecting but it's a more than welcome one. "That would be delightful," she says. "I would love that. We can work on the details when we're done with the tour." She can't help but feel a bit of excitement to go out jogging with Diana.

"I promise I won't throw any shields," she says, holding up a hand to solidify the promise. The mischievous smile is back. "Or swords. Maybe a spear, but I'll be careful." She nods in agreement about Steve's character. "He's one of the best, really."

Diana Prince has posed:
There are statues of more Amazons set in amongst the flowers that they are slowly walking through now, the alabaster faces of the women looking with a wide assortment of expressions, from combat shouts to peaceful quiet.

"Oh, there you two are." The sound of Gretta's voice can be heard as she is walking down the pathway from ahead. "I took the liberty to bring you some tea. I hope that is okay." She says, walking on her heeled shoes toward them both."

Diana shows Gretta a smile and a nod. "Of course." She says, her stare going back to Jenn who gets another little grin. "I trust you." She says of not throwing weapons and shields through things at the Arts Center. "Well then, this should be fun. We have one of our leading lasso trainers here now, Asterope. I am excited for you to get to meet more of our people."

As she says this Gretta reaches them and puts the tray on a ledge to pour them both a cup and hand them out. "Such a beautiful day out here." The English woman says.

"It is!" Diana agrees, taking her cup to sip from it.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Ooh, Lasso," Jennifer says. "I hadn't thought about training with that, but I suppose it makes sense with your lasso and everything." Her eyes twinkle in delight, imagining herself in full Amazon gear going to war. "Yeah. I think I'd like that."

Jennifer gratefully takes her own cup of tea, taking a tentative sip of it. "Mm." she says. "There's a hint of something floral in this that I can't quite place. Makes it quite nice."

Diana Prince has posed:
Gretta gives a big smile to Jennifer. "It's hibiscus tea, love." She tells her. "I find the carnberry-like tartness to be soothing, and it's good for your heart too." She says pleasantly before nodding to Diana once. "Well then, I'll leave you two to it." She gathers up the tray and starts back to the Embassy interior.

Diana lowers her cup down after another sip from the tea herself. "I am really glad that you are this enthusiastic about all of this. It helps encourage me to believe further that this is the right step for my people. Why we just welcomed a new Amazon in to our ranks in the past few months, a young woman from here in the United States. She earned it, through her work with the Titans and all she did to learn the culture of our people. She... is a true warrior. I can see that same spirit in you too." She flashes a quick smile as she starts to walk again.

"Not that I am saying that that is the path which you would wish to seek, but... still, it is an option, now more than ever no less." She says over to the other woman.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer nods. "Hibiscus," she murmurs. "I'm not much of a tea drinker," she admits. "Coffee is more my thing. I can tell a good Columbian from a French Roast, but I can see why people are into it."

Jen can't help but feel a little giddy when Diana suggests that she can be on a path to become an Amazon herself. "Me. An Amazon," she says breathlessly. "That's... I never thought..." she stammers as she collects her thoughts. "This is something that I would have to consider seriously. I can imagine how much work this would take."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana looks over to Jenn again and shows her another little smile. "We have coffee inside, we can head back in that direction to exchange drinks." She says to her quietly before looking forward again in the direction they are headed back to the other side from which they originated.

"Well..." Diana starts. "Lets see." She reaches her hand up to brush her loose strands of hair out of her face. "You atneded, and graduated from, law school. You are a practicing defense attorney and... you are an active member of the mighty Avengers...."

She states these things and looks back to the woman with good humor on her visage for her. "I think you could do it." She says softly to her. "If you really wished to do it of course. Clearly that which you set your mind to, you accomplish."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer waves a hand, "No need to go and swap things out," she says. "The tea is fine. It's not anything I'd turn my nose up at. Just I'm not familiar with the fine points of it like some people are."

She grins as her credentials are listed. "It doesn't seem like I've done much on my end," she says modestly, "But, yeah, I guess you're right." At Diana's mark of approval, a small blush darkens her cheeks. "I.... It's a lot, and not something to be taken lightly." She turns her head to face the breeze as she considers things over. "I think for now, let's just go with training with the other Amazons and see how that goes." She looks back down and captures Diana's eyes. "And our runs. I think I'd like that."

Diana Prince has posed:
rDiana hears the response and she has to smile at it as they walk down the pathway that leads them back toward the doors on the patio area. She looks over to Jenn then. "A very wise decision." She says softly to the other. "Come, I will show you the rest of the Embassy. We have a lovely room filled with various Amazonian weapons and armor sets that we have recovered from around the world. A mini-museum of them, of sorts."rrShe leads the other furhter along, back to the patio and toward the open doorway.
