Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Cable, Diana Prince

Cable has posed:
Bryant Park has always been one of the many hubs of activity in Manhattan. In fact, there was a big concert down here not too long ago that was done by one of those heavy rock bands that nobody actually knows but enjoyed all the same.

Sitting upon one of the MANY benches in the area is an older fellow with silver-white hair and a grizzled look about him. He wears dark clothes to cover his form (mainly just his metal arm), apparently just enjoying the sights of the park: People.

In Cable's future, people are either in hiding, deceased, or waiting to jump you. The good ones are so few and far between that its safer to assume everyone is trying to kill you than not. But here? His grim future never happened or at least hasn't happened -yet- and its always that fact that Cable can never decide is for better or worse that they don't know it -might- be coming.

His own thoughts aside, he sits alone and in silence...just watching.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana has chosen Bryant Park for a jogging session today. It's fair common to find joggers who go around the park's edge when there are no events going on at the park. She's been here for awhile now, wearing a pair of sport sunglasses, black jogging clothes and with her dark brown hair tied back behind her head. She's still fairly recognizable and it's likely some have spotted her by now. It's not often you see a six foot tall woman who looks quite like she does after all.

But, she's focusing on just her exercise at the present. Eventually she ends up slowing down near to the bench that Cable just so happens to be seated upon. She stops beside it and takes a moment to unwind. It's not easy to get the Princess winded, barely even possible, so she just draws in a simple breath and moves to lower herself down on to the bench. She glances over to Cable and offers him a bright smile, her glasses reflecting his grizzled face back at him.

"Hello." She says in her smoky voice. "Nice weather today." That same voice also accented with a foreign origin. A bottle of water is pulled from her black and white sport jacket and she moves to open it's cap with a twist.

Cable has posed:
Cable honestly was not expecting really anybody to sit at his bench. Most of the people he's come across have just considered him to be mean or intimidating by appearance just because he has a face that has seen the horrors of war, so they just leave him alone.

So imagine Cable's surprise when he sees perhaps the most beautiful woman he's ever seen sit next to him and actually decide to greet him. Even if its just small talk, its kind of her to do so. "A beautiful day, actually. Better than what I could hope for. I thought it was going to storm, actually." He turns his attention to her, his voice is soothing almost, a little gaspy yet hardened.

"But a good day all the same. Enjoying a good run?" He asks the obvious question, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying a good conversation, is there?

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana doesn't fear anyone based on their appearance alone. Her judging of others is solely based on their actions and the content of their character. So with Cable she just smiles right over to him after taking a sip of the water and then recapping it. She leans back on the park bench though she keeps her posture regally tall.

Her eyes go out over the grassy lawn then. "I enjoy a good storm from time to time too though. I actually enjoy walking through the city during one, with an umbrella of course, but still." She glances back to him and grins lightly. "And yes, it was a great. This is one of my preferred parks within the city, because of the open space and it is not too large, just large enough."

She glances back to him. "What of you? Here with family? Kids or grandkids?" He has a grandfatherly air about him, but she wouldn't want to precisely presume that.

Cable has posed:
An admirable trait indeed. Though Cable keeps his attention largely remains on Diana, he has the posture of the soldier: back straight, hands on knees, feet on floor, eyes attentive. Maybe he's a veteran? Though Cable seems to smirk a bit. "To be honest, its my preferred to. It was the first park I went to when I first arrived." Because when he slipped into the past from the future, this was literally where he landed.

Clever wordplay.

"There's nothing more relaxing to just watch the world do its work." He shrugs then. Though when she mentions grandchildren, he smiles. "I am younger than I look. I'm only 37." As opposed to Diana's millenia of life. "I live here in the city with my daughter, Hope." No wife or loved one? "But here in the park, just by myself."

Diana Prince has posed:
Another glance is given out toward the park as he speaks about it, and the world doing it's thing. She agrees with a little smile and a light nod of her head. But when he speaks of his true age she raises a hand up to lift her sunglasses off of her eyes and place them up on to the hairline of her dark locks. Now she stares at him with her exposed brown eyes. "I am sorry, I did not see that." She states then. "Though to be fair, I am much older than I look. So I am told anyway." She extends her right hand over to him then. "I am Diana, Prince. I am... a single year over my ninth century." 901 years old? She's not hiding anything about herself anymore, publicly, so she's willing to tell anyone that when the moment is appropriate, such as here and now.

"So you just moved here with your daughter?" She asks then. "It is a wonderful city. I think you will both love it here. I hope at least. No... pun intended." There's a hint of a grin then.

Cable has posed:
Cable seems to smile as she reveals her eyes to him. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul and honestly, it is no lie. Cable does not look quite surprised when she proclaims to be over 900 years old. "A wonderful thing, immortality. Though I find it can be a blessing and a curse. As for me, well, I'm afraid your looks serve you well, unlike me. I'm only 37." Cable tells Diana with a small smirk.

"I did indeed. I think you'd like her, she's a good girl." He shrugs then. "I've made that dad joke a million times, I don't think its never not become old." He chuckles. "But, my name is Nathan. Nathan Summers." He offers his hand to her for a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Diana."

Diana Prince has posed:
Another light grin plays across the Princess' lips at what he says next to her. She nods her head lightly to him. "Well. I have been told that aging benefits men more than it does women. Because of the 'more distinguished' look being one that is quite popular. But... I guess that is just one's personal preferences in the end. Still though, I am embarrassed for my assumption." She glances to him again to smile faintly before she raises her bottle up for another sip from it's contents.

"Likewise." She says to him back then and draws in a breath as she reaches up to take her sunglasses off of her forehead and place them into the pocket on the right side of light jacket. "Did you move here for work related reasons?" She asks of him now, truly having no idea about the unusual circumstances that lead Nathan to being in this world as it is now.

Cable has posed:
Cable seems to look at her again, eyes to eyes, and he gives her a small smile. "Is that something you too follow? Is my 'dignified' look something you approve of?" Perhaps mild flirting, or just trying to see how Diana thinks. Either way, he shakes his head. "I wouldn't be embarassed. I have thick skin, I promise."

"Something like that, yes. I'm here for many reasons, mainly is that of my daughter." She's his mission, and her safety is his primary concern. "But...work, mainly."

He turns his attention to her. "What brings a woman such as yourself here to this city? Were you born here?"

Diana Prince has posed:
The soft flirtatious response to her makes her grin and look away again across the park. She folds one arm across her stomach and holds her water bottle on her knee with the other. "I have my tastes. Like everyone else." She states back at him with a sideways glance and a small grin.

"And no, this city did not exist when I was born." She tells him, before elaborating a little further. "I am from an island near Greece. It is called Themyscira. It is... a very difficult island to find." She nods once then and looks upon him once more. "It is a long story. My mother is the Queen and my father, well... he has a shocking personality." That's a joke, clearly!

"I came to the United States in the past decade though, and I have since become a more public figure, being the Ambassador of my people now to the rest of the world. We have an Embassy that opened here just last year now in fact. So... yes, 'work' keeps me here, you could say."

Cable has posed:
Cable seems to smirk as he gets a rather positive response to his flirtations. "Of that, I don't doubt." When she glances back at him, he gives her a playful wink. Seems he's a friendly sort, despite his grizzly appearance. But as she states her origins, Cable seems to listen with interest and intrigue.

"Themyscira, you say?" Perhaps Cable is playing dumb to the mentions of history to one of the greatest heroes of this time. Or maybe he's not. But he does seem to smile a little bit when she claims she's a royal and the daughter of a...shocking figure. "Should I refer to you as your royal highness?" Cable asks curiously, its a playful question, not a serious one.

"But I'm happy you've managed to find your place here."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is taking another light sip of water when he speaks of her island and then asks the question of her title. It makes her softly laugh and shake her head side to side. "No no, nothing like that is necessary. I much prefer just Diana." She states then before glancing back over to him. "I think we are all forever searching for 'our place' as it were, but I am in a good one at the moment."

After a short pause she continues on then. "So you are here for your daughter, but what of yourself? It is good that you are such a dedicated parent, but you have to have something for yourself to maintain your own well-being, Nathan." She uses his first name to make it more comfortable between the two of them, strangers on a park bench and all!

Cable has posed:
"Good, I prefer informality too. Helps break the ice and lower any feelings of superiority one might have over another." Cable tells Diana with a small smirk, though he does seem to ponder a moment. "Agreed. Some of us take longer than most...but then I suppose a long life is very advantageous." He glances at her in a sideways manner.

"I am here for my child. To me, there is nothing more important than her safety." a doting parent indeed. "And what would you suggest?" He asks of her then, but he ponders. "I've been thinking of what to do, but maybe we can talk about that more sometime soon. Maybe over dinner?" He asks her. "Or we could just meet here again, if this is where you are normally found. I assume one builds up some wisdom over 900 years of life. Though I wa sthinking of applying for that Xavier's school, up a ways from here."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana has a smile rest on her lips when he suggests a dinner meeting and she raises her eyebrows up a bit before glancing his way. "One never knows." She says to him with regard to that. "But yes, I am here a lot. I like to jog here, or in Central Park though it is a slightly less enjoyable place for that because it is extensive and I end up losing a lot more time if I start there since the desire to stop comes a lot more slowly."

Another sip of her water is had before she glances away again. "I know of Xavier's School." She tells him, then looking back to him. "Charles Xavier. He is a good man. A kind man. He would be a great individual to work for. Why if I were looking to teach, that would be a highly considered location myself."

Cable has posed:
Cable seems to look back towards the park for a moment as Diana smiles. "One never knows indeed." It was not a no, it would appear. But he does look back to her as she speaks. further. "Central Park is time consuming and a bit too....loud, for my taste. Here its quiet. People can just be people without getting caught up in the constant rush this city has."

He nods a moment. "I know of him. In some cases, I know -him-. Not sure I'd find good work with him though...I'm a soldier. I'm only needed when the enemy is at the gate. I don't know if I can survive the kind of peace work he would have me do, if I was accepted."

Diana Prince has posed:
"Well." Diana replies with regard to Xavier's. "I consider Charles to be a close friend. If you desire it, I could speak to him with you there some time perhaps." She offers. "Though, if not there, perhaps as a soldier you would find some place with an Agency such as SHIELD?" She then asks of the time traveling man that she shares a park bench with. "There certainly are options, after all. I know that the New York Police Department is always in need of well trained members to join their ranks as well. What with all of the... madness that plagues this city." She glances to him again and grins lightly.

"I am with the Avengers. I am not sure if you know of them, but they are a group of... talented combatants who are sworn to protect and fight against powerful evils in this world. If you have the skills, there's always someone who you can offer them to."

Cable has posed:
Cable seems to ponder this for a moment. "I would appreciate this." Though she speaks of SHIELD and Cable doesn't appear -too- interested, but he does seem like its something he could be a friend to in case they need help. But when Diana mentions the Avengers? Cable turns his attentio nfully to her. "I know of them. Earth's Mightiest Heroes, people like to call them. I would like to join their number...help people where I could."

He turns his attention to Diana then. "I feel like I haven't been straightforward with you like you have with me. I'm a mutant....from the future."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana had a feeling that there was more to this man than meets the eye. So when he says that last part she just adjusts her gaze over to stare at him and a slight grin appears on her lips. But she lets it fade fast. "Mutants are often prone to hiding, with good reason, so I do not fault you for that." She speaks softly for him since they're in public and there are others around them, even if not directly beside them in this moment.

"From the future though... that is most unusual." She has to admit that. She turns to look more at him then on the bench, and her right elbow goes back tot he back of it. She stares more straight-on toward him now. "And your daughter?" She asks him then. "Is she really 'okay'?" She asks. "Is that why you are protecting her? I can offer help if she, and you, need it."

Cable has posed:
Cable nods softly to Diana. "Thank you for understanding. Though I am what you call...a different kind of mutant. I'll tell you about it another time. Maybe incentive to meet again." He smiles to her, though when Diana asks about Hope and if she is truly safe, Cable just looks the demigoddess in the eyes.

"Let us just say that there is a reason why Hope and myself are here in this timeline. For the moment, it is for Hope's safety and growth. I appreciate your offer of help..I might need to call on you if I need to." He rises to his feet though, looking at Diana. If the princess looks closely, she can see the metallic glint of Cable's left arm through the cracks in his clothing. A metallic body, or at least a metallic limb of some sort? Who knows.

"Either way, it was nice meeting you Diana. I hope to see you again soon." and with that, Cable starts to head towards the direction of the Institute.
