Joining her
Date of Scene: 03 June 2021
Location: Gotham Cemetery
Synopsis: Whatever you do, don't ask Mike what he does on his birthday.
Cast of Characters: Terry O'Neil, Michael Hannigan

Terry O'Neil has posed:
The Gotham graveyard is not exactly Vorpal's idea of Party City-- but, when you think about it, ANY graveyard in the United States /is/ Party City, when compared to Gotham's. The drooping angels, the dramatic gothic statuary mournfully draped across antique headstones, and then there's the fog. Even on sunny days, there always seems to be the threat of fog.

Nevertheless, this is their next stop, and a Rabbit Hole obligingly opens up to allow the two travelers through. Vorpal has to maintain his Cheshire seeming in order to operate the Rabbit Hole, even though his appearance is never anything remotely funerary. However, in order to compensate for that, a layer of illusion covers him and mutes his rather bright colors, and tints his uniform an elegant blackm grey and silver.

It even grows leg coverings, because although Vorpal is not one for modesty mores, he knows that showing leg at a graveyard is only something you are supposed to do if you are a vampire trying to score a date for a saturday night.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
It's been, an interesting evening. That is for sure. But the less spoken about the attempt to retrieve Cliff and his object of flaming desire, the better. It's done. Hopefully. And as Terry drops him off at the cemetary the musician undergoes his own form of transformation. No, the clothes don't change. Although jeans and a t-shirt are involved, they are rather darkly colored. But, as he looks to the scenery, his posture, the very aire about him changes. No longer is it Nick Drago, Rockstar.

It's just Michael.

It's uncertain how much time they had but it seems there may have been astop in between as a single rose rests in Mike's right hand.

He looks to the large statues and headstones, giving a look to Terry. "...Thank you." He murmurs, before starting to trek down one of the designated paths, moving further down the way.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Hey, don't mention it," the Cheshire answers, maintaining a quiet demeanor that is very much unlike him, but it is in keeping with his surroundings. He follows Nick, quietly remarking on the transformation. He knows from watching Kara that often an adjustment in posture and a wig, or even just adding bangs or moving them off your face, can make you seem like two different people.

Sometimes, of course, you /were/ two different people, like in his case.

He glances at one of the headstones and briefly muses at the fact that Grandma O'Neil was buried here, somewhere. His mother didn't bring him to the funeral.

They hadn't exactly been on speaking terms.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
While there are indeed beautiful and intricate stoneworks in the Gotham Cemetary and grandiose marble structures. The path Mike chooses leads to the simpler collection. Nothing risen above the ground. Stones that rest with the text facing towards the heavens. Some are extended with little circular features between the pairs of names while others have the circle placed above the name.

Eventually, he comes to one such single set. Stone of good quality. Humble design. Even the bronzed lettering is still visible.

Mike trods over, kneeling down to reach over to the circular object, twisting it around before pulling it out. Flipping it over, he twists it in, vase side up before putting the miniscule offering in.

"...They only had two roses left." He murmurs to the marker, "And I know you don't like taking the last one."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Terry keeps a respectful distance. After all, he doesn't know if Mike intends him to hear anything or not- he can't actually help what he hears, though, because of Cat Hearing being what it is. But he can at least keep a respectful mien and keep his attention on other things . Like on how strange it is that his father is no longer, but no grave on Earth holds his dust.

And yet a part of him was alive in him. Not figuratively.

He shakes his head. His life is so unusual...

He glances over at Mike, realizing he doesn't really know much about the man that isn't public knowledge. He could almost hear the Little Lois on his shoulder, trying to remind him to secure an interview at some point.

His little imaginary Lois did that, at inopportune moments.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike shifts, resting his butt on the ground. Feet on the ground he leans forwards, wrapping his arms around the lower legs as he looks to the marker. If there's a conversation going on between him and the stone it has switched to a silent one. A jaw tightens, and eyes close. With a bow of the hed, the fingers thread together. He stills.

It seems like a long time. Long enough to wonder if perhaps Mike has fallen asleep in that position. But, eventually the head does lift up, eyes opening as the musician bites his lip. Eyes roll up to peruse the night sky for a few more moments before- A quiet drawn out sigh is let out before he shifts. Unwrapping his arms, he pushes himself up, and gives the marker one last look. "Bye mom."

He turns, glancing around to find the Cat he portaled in along and trods over. "...Thanks." Looks like he wasn't listening to Terry's previous request, "Should probably head back. The hotel is oddly crowded with people who might notice my absence."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
The Cheshire nods, "Of course." He reaches over and puts a hand on Mike's shoulder as he focuses on summoning the Rabbit Hole. "You... okay?"

His mental image of Mike's room is very clear. It takes only a second to summon the portal. "If you need company... I can stay for a bit." He pauses, and then offers a little smile. "I promise I won't order caviar." A slight effect to provide some levity. "... much."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike looks over to Cheshire to the offer. Lips twist upwards slightly, "Sure."

As the pair steps through the portal there is one last statement that can be heard amongst the markers.

"Maybe this time I'll be awake enough to eat the burger..."
