Are You Going To The Hanging Tree
Date of Scene: 06 June 2021
Location: The Hanging Tree - Park
Synopsis: Amethyst and Jason battle ooze monsters and exchange numbers.
Cast of Characters: Amy Winston, Jason Todd

Amy Winston has posed:
Dusk is beginning to settle when a purple light splits the air and opens into a portal. Amethyst steps out, clad in purple and gold armor with a tiara holding back her blond hair. She looks around quickly and frowns. Reaching down to a crystal disk on her belt she inspects it and shuts down the portal with an idle gesture.
Further ahead where the last few park goers enjoy the cooling afternoon panicked shouts begin to arise. Peeling out of the shadows of the large tree bristling black forms dripping a dark ichor like an oil slick are massing and starting to chase the civilians.

Jason Todd has posed:
This isn't the kind of thing Jason normally gets involved in. He fights criminals...not monsters. Well, not ones like this, anyways. Still, when you're already in the area it can be hard to just walk away from screams like that. He rises from his park bench as the girl he's on a Tinder date with screams and bolts. HYe frowns a bit and turns to watch her sprint across the grass, and he grunts. The date was boring as hell, anyways. He turns away to look toward the tree, then, and he adjusts the Gotham Knights baseball cap he's wearing.

He stuffs his hands into the pockets of the hoody he's wearing, and he starts across the park towards the tree and the shapes. A hand closes around a batarang in his pocket, his thumb lightly brushing along the sharp blade of it as he considers the shapes.

Amy Winston has posed:
Picking up on the screams herself, Amethyst begins to run in that direction. It's a trained gait, knees and elbows pump and carry her momentum efficiently. Training her eyes over the scene, Amethyst grimaces as one of the creatures lunges at a young couple. It catches the man by his calves and he goes down. The creature begins to ooze over the panicking man in a semi-solid form.
Amethyst breaks into a sprint and hooks her foot into the middle of the creature using her speed to add force as she kicks it off the man. Nearby other monsters lunge and try to consume others. One sees Jason approach and it burbles a wet, thick growl before biting at the dressed down vigilante.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason glances to the side in time to see Amethyst make physical contact with one of the creatures. Well, that answers his question, at least. He slips the batarang from his pocket, palming it to hide it from the rest of the world. His thumb passes over the activator, and a tiny red light begins to blink. The man tucks in and flips backwards as the creature bites at him, cutting through the air like an acrobat, even with his muscles. While he is in mid-air he releases the batarang and it slices through the air, burying itself in the creature before releasing a muffled BOOM and exploding in a carefully precisioned explosion.

Amy Winston has posed:
Looking sideways briefly, Amethyst's eyes widen. "You?!" She calls out and swipes her hand through the air. As she does a crystal maul forms and hardens in her hand. On the other a small buckler shield ripples into being. "You should get clear, and try not to get any goo on you, Mister P.I!" Amethyst advances on the creature she kicked and smashes the maul down on it's head with a battle cry. It puddles into more oil slick goo as the man that was tackled scrambles away looking like he has a burn on his legs where he was grabbed.
Turning to sight her next target, the creature Jason evaded frees the part of the batarang shrapnel into it's side and staggers into another one. Unharmed, the new creature swipes a clawed hand through the wounded one and it puddles as well. Turning now to Jason it bristles out a little larger and then sprints towards him. As it does, Amethyst tosses her maul at the creature to make it stumble. "Run, dude!" She yells and starts to head toward Jason.

Jason Todd has posed:
The man is about to yell something at Amethyst when that weaponry appears, and his protest is caught in his throat. He's almost sideswiped by the newly charging creature, but he manages to drop low and roll to the side at the last second. As he rises his hand comes up, holding a heavy looking pistol, which must have been holstered under his hoody. He levels it at the thing and squints.

"These things follow you from that magic world or some shit?" He pulls the trigger, sending expertly aimed bullets ripping towards the thing.

Amy Winston has posed:
"Nope! This Chaos is all earth side. I was tracking a surge!" Amethyst calls and pumps the brakes as Jason rolls and fires his firearm. "Damn, P.I.s must have it rough." She shakes her head and reforms her maul as the charging creature is hit by the bullets and collapses into goo.
Further ahead a trio of the creatures has a young woman and two small children cornered against the large tree. A few other individual creatures claw at places in the large tree where some of the park goers had scrambled up to escape the monsters.

Jason Todd has posed:
Still not having been really seen by the civilians, Jason reaches into the collar of his shirt and tugs up a bandana worn beneath. It covers the bottom half of his face, while the hat does a good job of making the rest hard to recognize. It doesn't really seem like PI behavior. He leaps over the shattered, goo remains of the one he riddled with bullets as he sprints towards the ones accosting the people.

He doesn't have MOST of his fun toys, so he sticks to the gun for the most part, while his other hand dips to his ankle, and unsheaths a knife from beneath his jeans. It's a cruel looking curved blade. A Kris. Rather unusual taste. One hand aims the gun at one of the creatures and opens away in a blaze of fire, while he uses his other hand to deliver several fast, brutal and practiced slashes at another.

Amy Winston has posed:
Watching Jason run towards the pack of the creatures cornering the nanny and children, Amethyst shakes her head and circles around the other side of the large tree where creatures begin to try oozing up the trunk towards stranded civilians.
"Keep Climbing!" Amethyst yells up as she changes her weapon into a broad sword. Hacking at one of the creatures, the others look sightlessly towards her and begin to converge. As they gather they soak up their goo companions and become a larger mass.
Over on Jason's side one of them evades his knife and swipes a clawed hand at him as the two hit with bullets collapse into a burbling mass. Jason's attacker wades into it and builds a little more bulk, it's maw splitting open and becoming toothy.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason is caught with the claws of the creature, and it tears through his hoody and into his side in a blow that would kill a normal man. He grunts and stumbles back, clearly feeling it, as the kris tumbles from now numb fingers. His other hand raises smoothly, though, taking aim and squeezing out the rest of his clip into the attacking thing.

"These things remind me of Clayface when he's being a dick. Ugh. I hate Clayface when he's being a dick. Also? Ow."

Amy Winston has posed:
From the far side of the tree Amethyst calls "Who?! Also...Do you have more of those bullets?" Looking up at the hulk sized mass of Chaos as it molds back into one of those bristling forms, Amethyst starts backing up from the tree and drawing it away. It swats at her with a large hand and she lunges into the blow with her blade. As it slides through the creatures hand, it pulls up with another burbling, wet, roar and flings Amethyst off it's stabbed hand. Flying back, she twists and takes the impact on the buckler before it shatters and she slides across the grass a little.
On Jason's side the now larger puddle of goo burbles but isn't reforming. The hulk sized creature trundles into view with an amethyst blade lodged in one hand.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Local shapeshifter type guy," Jason grunts as he does his best to holds his insides inside. "And of course I have more bullets. Who the hell do I look like?" He skillfully pops the magazine out and rests the gun against a knee as he fishes another magazine from ...somewhere. He clicks it into place and then starts towards the behemoth. A bit of sweat beads his brow from the wound, but he is acting incredibly well considering it.

"Hey! Over here!," he calls to it. He raises the pistol and opens fire.

Amy Winston has posed:
Pushing up from the grass, Amethyst spits a bit of lawn out of her mouth and turns to watch as Jason draws the large creature with gun fire. Shaking herself out, she creates a bow next and draws back as an arrow forms. Releasing, she moves counter to Jason and begins hitting it with arrows.
The creature roars as bullets pepper it's large mass. Oil slick ichor begins to drip and ooze down it in a viscous flow. As arrows begin to pierce it from the other side it's howls turn into a keening shriek. The pitch of it intensifies and the monster's form begins to bubble out like a balloon about to burst.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason gives a nod of being impressed, but curious, as Amethyst summons that bow. The gun lowers as the creature begins to swell. "GET DOWN!" He leaps back and hits the grass with a pained grunt, covering the back of his head with his one good hand, while the other is stull numb from the side wound.

Amy Winston has posed:
"Damn it." Amethyst grunts and pivots to charge towards Jason. As the creature bulges larger she dives and semi tackles the vigilante as a semi dome of amethyst light curls over them. Up in the trees a second shield forms to block most of the civilians still caught up in the branches. The shields just barley make it as the creature explodes and the pools of ichor begin to sizzle in the grass and on the tree. The climbers hit with flecks of it yell from the burns but an otherwise stiff silence settles over the park.

Jason Todd has posed:
He ends up covered by her as the thing detonates, and when he rolls over onto his back, she gets a look at the wound on his side. It's bad, but it honestly looked worse earlier. The fingers on his hand flex as well, showing that he's getting better oddly fast. Not Wolverine fast, but fast. He sits up a bit under the amethyst colored shield and grunts.

"I normally don't go in for powers, but huh. That's useful. So, they gone now?"

Amy Winston has posed:
Looking from the tree down to Jason, Amethyst blinks and sits back quickly. "Ish." The princess answers and drops both shields. "You should get that looked at." She comments and starts to stand up. "I'll need to burn off all the puddles, but I brought some quartz just in case." She slips a hand into a small pouch on her belt and tilts her head as she feels around in it. "You don't go in for powers? Is that why you have that weird smelling magic on you-and who are you anyway? I thought you were some detective?"

Jason Todd has posed:
He grunts as he sits up. "I'll be fine." He reaches over to pick up his fallen ballcap and puts it back on. He closes his hoody, zipping it up to hide the wound, though it is stained red still. "I mean, technically? A detect shit."

He kneels to pick up his gun and the spare magazine, pocketing them. No sirens yet, as it's Gotham, but they'll be heard eventually. "Weird magic on me? No clue whatcha mean. I'm as regular as they come."

Amy Winston has posed:
Amethyst snorts and looks at Jason again. "You can't bullshit a magical princess. It's faint, but there's a...something on you." She pulls out a small cylinder of quartz and holds it up. "Ah, found you." Pointing it at the puddle, she puts her hand over one end as a beam of light shines through it. The ichor begins to crackle and then evaporate.
People have begun to get out of the tree and now fully abandon the park. Some yell about monsters being the last straw in Gotham. Amethyst is more focused on her work as the puddles continue to dissipate even with out her light.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Princess. Right. Forgot." He grunts and glances over his shoulder and he blinks as she begins to zap the puddles of monster, and he nods a bit to himself. "Cool."

When the man yells about monsters, Jason can't help but laugh. "Really, bro? Get out, then. We don't need cowards in Gotham." Harsh, but Gothamites have a rep. People wonder why they rarely move away, even with all the horror. Because it's their home. He shakes his head and turns back towards Amethyst.

Amy Winston has posed:
"It's evaporating so quickly here, damn. I won't be able to cleanse it all." Amethyst grumbles and tries to hit the larger puddles of Chaos. "You guys have...a lot of crime, don't you?" She looks over her shoulder at Jason and gives him a bit of a crooked smile. Her eyes stray towards his wounded side. "I could..." She gestures with the quartz. "Might help?"

Jason Todd has posed:
"I mean, we're no Bludhaven. We can't be #1 in anything, can we?" The lopsided grin under the bandana is obvious. He glances down at the blood on his side and shakes his head. "Healing magic is...it's weird with me. So nah. I'll be good in an hour or so, but fuck, it makes me starving. I need to jet before the GCPD shows up, anyways. You like burgers?," he acts, crazy calm considering everything.

Amy Winston has posed:
"Yes! Who doesn't like burgers?" Touching a large stone around her throat, Amethyst's clothes ripple and she's in jeans, a purple top, with a leather jacket and boots similar to what she's worn before. "I'd rather not meet your cops. I'm not sure my ID was ever exactly....legal in this world." She tucks the crystal away, a few small splashes of Chaos flake away but the larger pools have been banished. "Bludhaven...oh, they have that nice college."

Jason Todd has posed:
"I dunno, you're from Fantasy Land. For all I know, you don't have burgers there." He shrugs a muscled shoulder and turns to begin leading the way through the park. Once they are away from the scene he tugs the bandana down to look casual again...if you ignore the red stain on his side. "I can probably help you with a new ID sometime, if you want one. I know some people." He arches an eyebrow at the mention of Bludhaven college.

Amy Winston has posed:
"We don't have burgers. Or cows." Amethyst sighs. "Didn't I mention before I spent some years on Earth in hiding? I mean, I didn't know I was in hiding, my mom did. It was a whole thing." She dismisses the idea with a bat of her hand and trots a bit when she realizes Jason is moving a different direction from where she was staring. "Bounced around the midwest in an RV for like, fifteen years. Fun times."

Jason Todd has posed:
"Oh right. Sounds like one of those Young Adult fantasy movies." He doesn't sound doubtful, though. He's seen weird stuff before. He stuffs his hands into the pockets of his hoody, a slight limp from the wound in his side. "Midwest, huh? Yeah, Gotham's pretty much a different world. Out there they get Star Spangled Kid and stuff. Here? Here we have Batman."

Amy Winston has posed:
"I had a Superman poster for a bit." Amethyst says easily and looks at Jason. Her eyes narrow for a moment and she lifts her blond brows. "Are you /sure/ you're good?" She asks and trots a bit to walk backwards and look at him. "Because, you moved like you do this kinda often but you also sort of look like shit right now." She glances towards the rooftops. "Man, imagine running into someone like Batman. He like, takes peoples bones when they get caught breaking the law, right?" She gives a shudder and laughs a bit.

Jason Todd has posed:
"I've heard he sucks their blood," Jason grunts. "The bone thing is new to me." He pulls out a battered pack of cigarettes and lights one, taking a drag as they walk along. "Seriously, it'll be fully healed in like two hours." He adjusts his baseball cap and continues leading the way through the park. "So, why Gotham?"

Amy Winston has posed:
"What do you mean?" Amethyst asks. "There was a surge that I was alerted to and I ripped open a portal." She shrugs and glances over her shoulder briefly to ensure she doesn't trip on anything. "Two hours? I don't even heal that fast with out help. Oh! You're one of those ummm, like Spiderman right? Metahumans? Or are you an alien? But like a shitty alien so you can't go all capes and spandex and just do detective stuff?" She lifts her hands a little. "No judging here. I fight monsters with swords and shit." Her blond hair sways a little as she walks backwards, a bounce in her step from the unnatural gait.

Jason Todd has posed:
"I'm just a guy. A guy who...had some shit happen to him." He watches her as she walks backwards, facing him. "Y'know. Died. Came back to life. Typical Frankenstein stuff," he lies.

Amy Winston has posed:
"Fuck, really? That's intense. Are you hunting your killer or something? That should be a movie or something..." Amethyst tucks her hands into her pockets and pauses so she can turn and walk side by side with Jason again. "But kind of badass. Must be why you have that weird-" She wiggles her fingers. "Earth magic can be so blech." She sticks out her tongue and grimaces.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Mmmmhm. Really. And...kinda? If I bump into him I..." He shakes his head. "It's complicated, alright?" So complicated. Batman makes it complicated. Dad makes it complicated. He rolls the shoulder on the wounded side, grunting but showing more movement now.

"Probably. Came back thanks to...multiversal hoojoo. Then something called the Lazarus Pit. It's a lot, really." He slows. "Can we reschedule the burgers? I need to go stitch this up since it's so deep. It's...a bit worse then I thought. We can exchange numbers."

Amy Winston has posed:
"Umm, for sure. I should probably record the report while it's fresh anyway. Just-which way is the nearest pizza place? Figure I'll grab something to go before I hop back through to gem world." She looks up and shakes her head a little. Reaching into her pocket she pulls out a basic looking phone with the antenna replaced with a crystal. "It doesn't do texts well, but calls seem to get through most of the time. Just put your number in Earth friend." She gives Jason a crooked smile. "But also like, you should cleanse that really well. Chaos can be some nasty stuff."

Jason Todd has posed:
He considers the question before he points off in a direction. "Just outside the park that way. Pretty decent New York style." He fishes out a burner phone and spends a moment exchanging numbers. "Yeah, I figured," he says in response to chaos being nasty. "

Jason Todd has posed:
"So, yeah. Burgers or whatever soon. This week, maybe. Hit me up if you end up back in my world or..." he shrugs his shoulder, more focusing on the weird stinging sensation from the wound. The man turns, making his way off to look into it.
