Date of Scene: 10 June 2021
Location: In the air, around 15,000 feet.
Synopsis: Orphan falls from a plane, plummeting to her doom! She puts out a call hoping someone can get there in time. But for a Flash, there is no such issue as 'distance'.
Cast of Characters: Cassandra Cain, Bart Allen

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cassandra opens her eyes. The wind whipping in her face wakes her. She can't remember the last few minutes. Must have blacked out from lack of oxygen. The air is thin, up where she got out of the plane. Though she remembers it being somewhat less than voluntary.

She can't tell where the plane went, or the men who were inside of it. She remembers someone with metal skin, who got ahold of her. Then being held out a doorway. She remembers seeing parachutes, and reaching for one.

Taking a quick inventory she notes that she clearly did not manage to grab one on the way out. That might be an issue.

Turning to slow her fall, Cass uses her experience with HALO drops to see what she can do. The ground below is still a fair ways away, but she doesn't see any good places to land. Mostly concrete and trees.

Well, maybe she can tap the com. She doubts anyone is within a thousand miles, but hey. you never know.

Tap. Tap again. Urgently.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen may not have been in a thousand miles a moment ago, but with running to get his favorite Swedish meatballs, he now is. Hearing the tap tap. He pauses and says into his com "Hey someone there, something wrong where you can't talk, if so tap once, if your in trouble tap twice. If are just accidently tapping it tap 5 times, if your a glitch just keep constantly tapping." He does look around and hmms wondering who would be in com range around here.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
This, is a problem. One of the guys is talking. She was never really good with gabblewords. But she frowns, listening intently, and tries her best. There's no pictures on this damn thing, I don't know why they expect me to use an audio comlink!

She growls into her comm, then taps the thing again.

Holding down the 'transmit', she lets them listen to the wind for a moment. Terminal velocity even before she woke up, she's really moving toward the ground. She can tell that there are some cars down there now, and that's getting a bit closer than she likes to call it. Oh what WAS that word Steph taught her? Talking under stress is not her best field of activity.

"He..lp," she says, the wind whipping away her words. She manages to say one more word, but it's not exactly appropriate for young readers.

Then she taps twice. Three times. Four. For god's sakes, someone track this thing!

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will stop talking at least long enough for the messages, hearing the wind, his first thought is did we pick up another speedster?" He shakes his head a bit and then at the words of help he does recognize who it is. " He says "Orphan, ok I am on my way." He runs back to the base grabs a tracking unit from it and moves around the area where she is in, getting her location. Another second passes as he right under her, and looks around and then looks up "Oh hey is that you up there?" He frowns and looks around pondering how to help her. Run up a building and grab her as she passes him? He shakes his head as he imagines just how that could go wrong ewwww.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cassandra, quite certain that she is going to have to deal with this herself, is going through possibilities in her head. She might be able to slow her fall slightly be angling to hit the side of that building, she thinks. Not enough armor on to really take the impact, but it hardly matters with concrete at the bottom anyway.

She gets a callback on her comm, and furrows her brow. How do you wave animatedly over an audio channel? She rolls her eyes slightly, then realizes she's on a ten second countdown.

She reaches up to start tapping a code sequence, that'll cause her facilities to self-destruct so noone ever uses them for evil. Nine. Eight.

Now would be good.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and thinks a moment more, and says "Ok Flash fact #283 It depends on which way you run and how you hold your hands when making a whirlwind. Luckily Bart remembers everything and at speed none the less. So he makes sure all the people are cleared out and by the time Cass is getting to 6, there is a red and white whirlwind starting to form under her. Bart thinks she has fallen a long ways, so instead of the normal one, once it starts, he is starting to go up the side of the buildings nearby to bring more height to his whirlwind, and so it has more room to slow her fall, he will still need to grab her before she hits ground probably but this should be a lot less messy.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Thankfully Cass doesn't get to finish tapping out her destruct code. The sudden shifting winds pull her arms out, and she realizes that something is up. It's times like this that she's lucky not to be able to talk, given the plethora of possible things she could say.

Luckily this isn't her time. She needs a hero, and apparently one managed to make it in time!

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will wait till she is about 6 foot from the ground, and then he is there scooping her up, and turning the rest of her vertical momentum into horizontal momentum. He runs a bit down a couple streets, and finds a quiet alleyway away from anyone. He sets her down and is off again but back a moment later, offering her a cold bottle of water "You ok?"

Cassandra Cain has posed:
For all that Cass, or Orphan as Bart knows her, is this stoic crimefighting machine, she looks cold and dizzy at the moment. Her lips are blue from the time without enough oxygen, and her eyes are dilated. She stumbles when set down, fighting not to fall over, and leans against a nearby car.

But she's alive.

Blinking several times, Bart witnesses her marshalling her body's resources. She forcibly gets her eyes working and stands herself up straight, though with a visible effort. Her legs are shaking, just a little, which is one hell of a lot given the trauma one takes from an unprotected fall from 30k feet.

But again, she's alive. And she offers a smile from chapped lips.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will run off again coming back with a folding chair "Sit down take a moment." He hmms "Need something warm to drink?" He asks the other hero. "You know having a utility belt might be a good idea." He hmms, and then shakes his head "So um what happened, how did you come to falling out of the sky? I mean people say cute girls don't fall out of the sky, so must be a reason a cute girl fell out of the sky.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
She wishes she spoke English. What she's getting from Bart is something like, 'wait then sit'. 'do you need something warm?' 'babblewords' 'you're cute, what happened?' So, she raises an eyebrow at the high-speed body language conversation and shifts on her feet.

She holds out a hand, classic 'hold on a minute' gesture, then rubs her chin thoughtfully. She's recovering, she's safe. She reaches out to take his hands, if she's allowed.

Then she squeezes them, bringing them close to her heart. Holding both of his hands in between hers, she looks into Bart's eyes. Saying nothing, but saying everything.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen does allow her, and once his hands are being brought towards her chest, his mind goes a mile a moment, some thoughts that go through his head maybe censored but he is pretty sure those aint what she is doing. Once she puts his hands on her heart, he offers her a smile and says "Hey your a friend and a team mate I am there for you, give or take a couple nanoseconds." He offers a smile and says "Besides Mr. Murder Mittens would be all upset with me if I let something happen to you." He offers with a grin.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Something sexual in his body's shifting makes Cassandra's eyebrows raise. But it passes, and she gets something that's a joke, and starts to giggle. She has no idea what the joke was, but she still starts to giggle. It's silent, it's silly. She's laughing.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen grins and smiles a s she laughs. It is not a common sight but a welcome one and smiles at her. "So, you need a lift somewhere or food? I can carry you back to the Roost or somewhere if you want.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
She pauses. She thinks. Then she nods, and lets Bart take her someplace warm. It's a nice thing, to be able to get warm. After losing a fight, after falling to your doom. After all the normal things that happen to heroes on a Wednesday, in comics land.
