Cast of Characters: Irie West, Wally West

Irie West has posed:
It's Monday evening at the Titans Tower, and Irie has sequestered herself to her room to do some homework. Even though school is out for summer, Irie has a /lot/ to catch up on so she's spending the night working on that. The teachers have found out that if they assign homework that heavily involves using a computer, Irie won't just Speed Force her way thought it. Computers, as fast as they are, can't keep pace with her.

She's dressed for for the night, so she's wearing some Wonder Woman branded peejays. She's sitting sideways in her desk chair with one leg tucked in underneath her. Her room is starting to look like somebody actually lives here. There's a few more books in the bookshelf, and a few more posters slapped up on the walls. Sadly, she had learned that Speed 3 hadn't been made yet, and it's by far the best in the series.

Wally West has posed:
This is like bizzarro world. Wally remembers /his/ dad walking into his room because his teachers called about him like it was yesterday. It was like 5 years ago, but still. What do you say? Its not like she did anything he wouldn't, but still... Something something irresponsible, something something dangerous something something.... He honestly wants to congratulate her, but he is pretty sure that is against the rules or something.

He knocks on Irie's door. "Hey, its Wa-- dad. 'You decent in there?" One foot in front of the other.

He is dressed in his pseudo casual clothes. If you ignore the chalky texture of the ablative coating, it looks like he is wearing a polo shirt and jeans. He hadn't realized until he got dressed this morning how little of his clothes didn't have his logo on them. Ah well atleast he is not currently wearing any insignia. He will have to work on that.

Irie West has posed:
"Yeah, I'm good!" calls out Irie, and hops off her chair to let her dad in. "C'mon in," she says. She notices that Wally has his 'serious face' on and purses her lips as she goes to sit on her bed. She has an idea of what's coming, but she's going to let him start the conversation, since that's what dads are supposed to do.

Wally West has posed:
"So Colette called me about what happened in Rome." He stalls a bit hoping she has some idea where this conversation is supposed to go. "I think you know what I am going to say right?" Because he sure doesn't. He tries to look like he knows what he is doing. He has heard that is an important part of being an authority figure, but he has also heard he is supposed to be honest so he isn't quite sure how to reconcile those two.

Irie West has posed:
Irie fidgets uncomfortably in place with her eyes downcast when her dad starts acting all dadlike. She looks up to him and offers a weak smile at his question. "Good job saving those people, and you're /definitely/ not getting grounded for talking back to a teacher?" she asks hopefully. It's a clever ploy, one that it sure to work.

Wally West has posed:
"Exac... wait." Grounded for talking back to a teacher? What kind of authoritarian future-- Does he really get that strict? Parenting is a hell of a thing. "I guess you are at least half right. Saving people is a good thing..." What does he say? Is he really supposed to yell at her for talking back to a teacher? On the other hand shouldn't he support a teacher who is doing the hard work of raising his kid? Parenting is hard. "Look Mrs O'Conail is supposed to be the responsible adult. Not everyone else there can do what we can do. She has to worry about what happens if one of her kids bungles a heroing operation, especially in a foreign country." He sighs. "I guess what I am saying is don't undermine your teacher's authority for no reason. I don't think she was even mad about you getting involved. Just don't challenge her in front of everybody okay? Thats kind of a jerk move."

Irie West has posed:
Irie watches patiently as her father struggles with... well... being a father. She listens to him, nodding and when he's finished she just lets out a sigh. "I know," she says, lowering her eyes once again. "It's just... I kind of got caught up in the moment. I'm sorry for..." she pauses to order her thoughts, which is harder than you'd think. "Really I'm sorry for getting you involved in this. You don't deserve having to come in here and being all dadlike. I know you didn't sign up to be my father yet, and it's putting pressure on you that you shouldn't have." She heaves a sigh and leans back on her bed, supporting herself with her arms. "I should probably go and apologize to Ms. O'Conail about it."

Wally West has posed:
He hadn't quite expected that. He isn't quite sure what he had expected her to say. "Yeah, that would be for the best."

He pauses. The point of disciplining your child is to get them to behave as if they understand, right? Maybe he can show her the real thing.

"I guess I just want you to think ahead about the consequences of your actions. Power and responsibility and all that. I feel like you would benefit from an opportunity to have actual responsibility. I think you should try babysitting. You would learn what it is like to be responsible for people and earn some of your own money in the process." Hey its almost like a punishment, but better.

Irie West has posed:
Irie blinks rapidly in confusion at her dad. "B-babysitting?" she asks in horror. "Dad! I'm five years old! People should be babysitting /me/!" Also. A job! The horrors!

She takes a moment to mull this over, and it's ramifications. It's an apt punishment to be honest, and it'll give her something to do during school break. AND it's something she just can't fix with super speed.

"O-okay," she says reluctantly. "Do you know anybody who needs a babysitter?"

Wally West has posed:
Oh right, she is five. How had he forgotten that? ... Because she looks and acts nothing like any five-year-olds he knows. Thats a good point. "I suppose we /could/ treat you like a five-year-old ... "

Does Wally know anyone who needs a baby sitter? Pshaww, he knows ... like ... Oh right, he is not actually 40 and he doesn't hang around with many parents. If he was being asked by someone who wasn't his kid he might have made a joke at Damian's expense. Well he guesses being responsible has its perks.

Well there is one kid... He knows her dad's (boss ?) Maybe he could set something up. "I will get back to you on that. I have an idea or two."
