And You Get a Milkshake, and You Get a Milkshake...
Date of Scene: 16 June 2021
Location: Recreation Room
Synopsis: Clarice shares milkshakes - and her utter lack of scientific experience. Hank, Clarice, and Gabby meet Monet. A trip to Genosha is proposed.
Cast of Characters: Clarice Ferguson, Henry McCoy, Monet St. Croix, Gabby Kinney

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
It wasn't too long ago that an epic nerf battle took place in this room. An epic nerf battle where Clarice accidentally teleported a nerf grenade into her teammate, Hambone's, hands. As an apology - Clarice strides into the room holding a drink caddy filled with fresh, cold milkshakes from Mootant Milkshakes in Bushwick. The only way to get them this fresh is to be there - or know a teleporter with the range. And luckily for Hambone...
"Alright. Hambone, you get dibs. We've got chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookie dough, chocolate oreo, and vanilla with a sour cherry swirl."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Thank goodness Henry missed the open warfare in the recreation room! He'd have been wholly unprepared, or worse - over prepared with his own arsenal of modified Nerf weaponry. Science! It'd been a bit of a day, with Hank doing some self-reflection for most of the week. Now he was out and about, prowling the rooms to see what everyone was up to. OK, not prowling - but happily sauntering. He steps into the room, smirking at the carrier tray that Clarice has offered first pick over to Hambone. "Oh dear! I suppose I have some fantastic timing." A grin. "What are the reparations being made for, Clarice?" The man wonders.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
As a new arrival to Xavier's, Monet wasn't even on this continent when the Nerf conflict occurred. She strides into the room with confidence not quite on the heels of the furry professor. Looking around the room as if she owned the place she asks a question that she obviously feels is much more important than Clarice's intentions. "Is this a private soiree or is anyone allowed to partake?" she asks.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well. I accidentally murdered Hambone here in a barrage of deadly shrapnel. Seems like the sort of thing you should apologize for," Clarice replies brightly - as Hambone claims the cookie dough milkshake as his very own.
"It's alright. It was a great fight! And you didn't mean to," the boy says easily. "Thanks for the shake, though," she adds - beaming between the two adults as he tries to suck the shake through a straw - but it's still too cold and thick for any success.
"There's spoons," Clarice advises the boy, before turning her attention to Hank. "What flavor you want, Doctor McCoy?"
Her attention shifts to Monet next - greeting the unfamiliar girl with a friendly smile. "The more the merrier. New student?" she asks. "I'm Clarice," she offers without explaining her association with the school in any way.

Henry McCoy has posed:
Looking to Hambone, the man blinks. "No injuries. I suppose a milkshake will work in lieu of a medal?" He winks to the young man. "And a gracious war victim." Henry chuckles, looking then to Clarice. "Chocolate Oreo, please." He says, rubbing hands together in anticipation.

Monet is given a nod of greeting. "Evening! How have you been?" He wonders, taking his claimed milkshake and finding a seat to perch on.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
"I am, yes," Monet replies to the spoken question and then says, "Monet St. Croix," to answer the unspoken one implied by the introduction. She's not unkind, just matter-of-fact about the return introduction. "If the strawberry swirl is fresh I'll have that, otherwise I'll follow the doctor's lead and have chocolate oreo. She frowns slightly at Clarice before following up with a fairly blunt, "You've been on the news, haven't you?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Is that a flicker of disappointment as Hank takes the chocolate orea milkshake? Surely not. "Yeah, the recovery time after death-by-nerf-explosion is blissfully short, thankfully." She hands off the chocolate orea shake, and turns her attention to Monet. "I believe it's fresh. Mootant Milkshakes makes the best milkshakes I've had - and I get around," Clarice remarks in a bright tone, as she holds out the strawberry milkshake. She turn turns her attention to the remaining offerings - vanilla, chocolate, and vanilla with a cherry swirl. "I guess I'll try the cherry," she muses. "I should've done the cherry in the chocolate," she laments - as she jams a spoon into the thick milkshake to take a bite.
"Honestly - I've lost count of how many times I've been on the news. It gets old after a while."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Overhearing voices in the recroom as she began to pass by, Gabby reverses course and angles right in through the doorway to see who was hanging out tonight. A bright grin flashes over her scarred face when she spots Clarice, and Dr. McCoy along with someone she had yet to meet. "Doc! Clarice!" A finger points toward Monet only to hover there while her eyes squint thoughtfully at a ghostly recollection of hearing names being exchanged but not QUITE hearing what was said. "... You just introduced yourself but I missed it because I was distracted. I'm Gabby! Hi!"

Henry McCoy has posed:
Henry does glance over as Monet introduces herself, his eyebrow going up. "Welcome to Xavier's then. It would seem you came just in time to reap the benefit of a truce of the Great Nerf war." He nods sagely. "Dr. Henry McCoy, I am certain I'll see you in science classes." A beaming grin.

A look to Clarice. "Being in the news is good - so long as it is for a good reason. You'll have to work on that image, though." He winks to her, good-natured teasing. His eyes go to Gabby as she arrives. "Evening Gabby!" He offers a wave, before moving the straw around in the shake to loosen it. "Clarice was kind and brought milkshakes."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet takes the strawberry shake and tastes it. She smiles and says, "They do indeed, and it does include fresh strawberries," about the shake. Regarding the news, she nods understandingly to Clarice and says, "Yes, I know what you mean," thinking about European paparazzi more than traditional news.

Turning to the girl entering the room, Monet gives a distant smile as she says, "I am Monet. Hello, Gabby." She grabs a spoon from the supplies brought from the shake shop and scoops out a bit of the shake rather than slurping it though a straw. "So it seems, Dr. McCoy, I look forward to discussing theorems and performing experiments with you in class, yes," she adds to Hank.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Gabby," Clarice greets the girl with a smile. "I've got a classic question for you - vanilla or chocolate?" Personally, she thinks there's a right answer and a wrong answer.
"We're working on the image. The metal shipments to Genosha, and patrols in Bushwick... We're already doing a lot of good, there." After a second bite of her shake she remarks, "This cherry isn't bad, really."
She settles in - sitting on the back of the couch, while giving Monet a curious look. 'Theorems and experiments?' It sounds like some sort of... science thing. But her science literacy is rather poor. "I'm glad the strawberry is good. It's the right season for it, I think."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"He's the best at sciencing," Gabby agrees with a solemn nod as she vouches for her teacher's skill. Then the most important question ever is asked earning Clarice a blank stare. All she can do is offer a helpless shrug. "Por que no los dos? It's not like I'm going to say 'no' to either of them. I've never had a vanilla shake before though. I did chocolate once, and cookies and cream, and that 'Superman' one that turned my tongue and poop blue. But not vanilla." Apparently having settled that matter for herself she reaches out for the vanilla to test it out. "Thanks Clarice! Oh, if you need any help in Genosha lemme know, though all I was really able to do last time was help keep the kids occupied so they could cheer up for awhile." Pausing to squeak her straw in and out of the shake before sipping she actually falls quiet to listen to the others.

Henry McCoy has posed:
Ah! Good idea! Henry reaches for a spoon as well. "I hope not to dissappoint, Monet." He grins, winking to Gabby at her praise. "Any particular science that you enjoy?" The man wonders, getting comfortable and digging into the thick shake. A few bites are taken, savored really.

There's a smile to Clarice after. "This is fantastic. And yes, I know about the rebuilding of PR - it's something that will take a while, but I expect you will manage it well."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
"Its horrible what has happened there," Monet says before adding her own offer, "Anything I can do to help I'll do as well." She sure does seem to feel like she belongs here at least, even with her being new to the school. "And of course Dr. McCoy is best at science at the school, everyone knows this, Gabby," she follows up matter-of-factly before answering Beast's question with, "I don't really have a favorite science... To paraphrase authors on their favorite characters I think my favorite science is the one that I'm studying at the moment I'm asked."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Honestly - that sort of thing is a big help. And I'm... pretty lousy with kids, myself," Clarice remarks - giving a shrug of her shoulders. "But if you can keep them occupied - and maybe give them something different, and special to focus on to lift their spirits - the adults can focus more on the rebuilding. Hurricane season is over now - but they're entering winter, so the nights are getting pretty cold," she explains. Cold enough to be uncomfortable, anyways.
Looking to Monet she adds, "I'm sure your help would be welcome as well. As long as you've got permission for a trip like that. It's a lot of work to rebuild, and things haven't exactly been going as smoothly as we wanted."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney gulps down the mouthful of vanilla shake she'd managed to slurp up through the straw. It was kind of thick so took some doing though the end result was well worth it. Glancing between the others she just raises her eyebrows a little. "Yes but I was compairing him to the scientists I grew up with. He's way better than them. Also better than..." She trails off with a face-scrunched look momentarily. "I'm talking too much again. Sorry. I like chemistry, but I did win that science fair because of a geothermal demonstration. That was a different school though." Attention shifting back to Clarice she grins anew. "Oh I could do that! Just need a lot of Diet Coke and Mentos. We'll have a blast!"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice gives Gabby a look of incomprehension. "You're going to give the children candy and soda?"
    Oh boy.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet, seeming surprised at Clarice's question, says, "Please tell me you didn't miss teaching your students about the reaction between Menthos and soda," to Hank.

Henry McCoy has posed:
More of that delicious chocolate Oreo shake is consumed by the Beast. He looks quite content with the dessert and the company. Nodding to Monet, he grins. "I've found that the science and the discoveries made always tend to drive passion in learning. Finding out something new, by performing the tests and experiments yourself, enriches the process." A nod.

A blink as the discussion turns towards the fountaning repercussions of Mentos and Diet Coke. "I believe it was covered briefly? The releasing of carbon dioxide from the combination?" He grins.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Having continued to eat her shake like a cup of ice cream, Monet replies to Clarice's concerns about the need for getting permission with an idly dismissive "I'm sure that won't be a problem."

Monet is quite obviously enjoying the shake, occasionally closing her eyes and loosing contented sighs of pleasure.

"Well, its actually not a chemical reaction between the candy and the soda after all," she says in an almost lecturing tone before quickly adding, "But you knew that and were likely just keeping the conversational light and easy, right?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice's question seems to have caused her to, momentarily, be the center of attention, and she realizes she may have misunderstood Gabby's question. "Oh. It's a... science thing?" she asks uncertainly. "I'm sure the children would enjoy that." Looking towards Monet she adds with a little embarrassment. "You can't blame Doctor McCoy. I never went to school here. He's not responsible to teaching science to //every// mutant on the planet. We like him too much to give him that much stress in his life." She proceeds to hide the rest of her embarrassment by spooning another large scoop of milkshake into her mouth.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney grins broadly when it seems that Clarice doesn't know just what the mix of the two will do. It's not a look of malice or mockery though: Just pure joy. "Oh man we have GOT to show you! You'll love it, Clarice!" She gushes rather excited at the very thought of getting to introduce someone else to such a fun little thing. Monet's correction of the issue has her babbling anew, "I mean you can do it with other candy than Mentos but it seems to have the ideal surface area to cause the carbonation to release aaaand anyway that's not as fun as showing you. Trust me though, they won't get hyper on sugar and soda, I promise." Pause. "Well. Maybe a little. If there's extra. That's not hte point though," she adds with a quick shake of her head trying to get herself back on track. "It's like a mini explosion when you put them together! But totally safe!"

Henry McCoy has posed:
A wry grin to Monet, the blue man chuckling. "Indeed. Quite that effect." A nod. Looking to Gabby, he laughs. "I only ask that you do it outside, and clean up after. We don't want a mess of ants finding a particularly sweet spot to call home." Another bite of the shake. Chocolaty goodness!

A cant of his head and a smile to Clarice. "Always time to learn, and we tend to teach here - regardless of past affiliation." A wink.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Having finished her shake, Monet set down the cup and pulls out her iPhone and begins swiping its screen. As she does this she says, "I agree, and seeing it in person will not be cheapened by seeing a video of it I think." She gives Hank a knowing smile to acknowledge his wink, as if it was for her, and then says, "Play this video, Clarice," as she hands the phone to the colorful mutant.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I mean. I'm far more likely to believe //you// when you say that than, say, Cain," Clarice remarks with wry amusement.
Yes, she means Cain Marko. The Juggernaut.
"I'd like to see that sometime. It sounds fun," she agrees, before looking back to Hank with an embarrassed smile. "Oh, I, uh... well. //Present// affiliation. And I don't really have time for classes, between rebuilding Genosha, and running and organizing the patrols in Bushwick..." Plus whatever other activities the Brotherhood needs her for. "But I appreciate the offer."
The phone is handed off, and Clarice accepts it with a curious looking, hitting play on the video and watching the 'explosion' as the soda shoots skyward. "...oh," she remarks, before letting out a quiet giggle. "I admit. That does look fun." She hands it back to Monet and adds, "You know - maybe we could also borrow the nerf weapons Forge made? And have a nerf battle for the children on Genosha?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney watches the exchange of the phone with a growing grin. The milkshake is hardly forgotten as she works on digging up more of that frosty goodness by pulling her straw free to raise a glob to her mouth. It's messy but she uses the cup to catch anything before it drops on her or the floor. "Oh yeah! That'd be great fun! Do they have a Nerf uzi? I always liked uzis. They're my size."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Henry clucks his tongue. "Sorry, yes. Present affiliation." He smiles. "Changing the face of that group is no small task, but I do have faith." A shrug and a smile. "I have to. It's something we tend to offer out around here, hope and faith." A smirk as he finishes the rest of his milkshake.

"A nerf battle to end all battles. I think Hambone might leap on another grenade for you, if you treat him this way."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
The phone, once back in its owner's hand, is returned to the pocket from whince it was preiously retrieved. "Being a plan for Genosha I assume any non-destructive power usage will be allowed," Monet ponders aloud before saying, "Thank you for the shake, Clarice, next time I'll treat us to something special." She stretches her shoulders in a rolling twist and then says, "My father's in Japan currently and he had requested I give him a call so I'm going to head up to my room and place that call." She inclines her head, almost regally, to Dr. McCoy and then to Clarice and Gabby, "It was good to meet you all tonight."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Forge made a lot of very interesting nerf weapons. I'm sure they're still around here somewhere," Clarice answers with a shrug. "And Hambone didn't fall on the grenade - I blinked it into his hands," she remarks with a sigh.
"Yeah, but you didn't mean to!" the teen answers magnanimously. Yeah, he's still here. He's finished his cookie dough milkshake - and he's started in on the chocolate one.
"Nice to meet you, Monet." Clarice smiles at the girl, then looks to Hank as she asks, "Maybe we could arrange a school trip to Genosha? A summer... community service project?"

Henry McCoy has posed:
Done with his shake, Henry stands and offers a smile to Monet. "Pleasure to meet you. I am sure we'll see you about campus, and in classes. Have a good evening, Monet!" A wave, too. Friendly chap, isn't he?

A tap of his finger to his chin. "I could pass that up the chain to Jean, Clarice. Give me a few days to get an answer for you?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
"Sounds like a plan, let me know if you need me to help with the headmistress," Monet says to Clarice before she gives a polite wave and steps out of the room heading towards the stairs.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice waves to Monet before asking, "...how can she help with the Headmistress?" No matter. "Anyways. I'm happy to help with making arrangements anyways I can. As an official representative of Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of Genosha, Lorna Dane," she offers in as grandiose a voice as she can muster - but with an amused smile. Lorna //hates// it when she brandishes the titles.
Finishing off her own milkshake finally, she tosses the cup in the trash, along with the caddy she'd brought the drinks in. "Anyways. You know how to reach me. I should get back to Bushwick, though." She offers a jaunty wave - before disappearing from sight. Bliiiiink.
