Cast of Characters: Alexander Aaron, Diana Prince

Alexander Aaron has posed:
There is a protocol to many things for various societies. Rules that must be upheld, taboos that must be avoided. It is so with Olympians as well. Less a formalized nature of manners, and more... a way things are simply done that has proven to be the best way and evolved over the thousands of years that those beings have existed. One is simply known as The Great Game, that is ever played between the deities. Yet there is one that is less commonly acknowledged and that is of paying proper respect to the dominion of others.
Young Alexander Aaron is too young to have known of some of the age old clashes between this god or that god. Or the reason some Pantheons rose up against the Greeks. He mainly only knows what his father has taught him in this regard. Yet over his short life he has known one part and embraced it well. And that is paying that respect due, and who has earned it?
// Ms. Prince, I'll be in the area next week. If you'd like to meet and catch up. //
And it had started like that. Little more. A time and a place was arranged, and at the due tie when she was there she likely did not see him. For he was running two minutes late and comes skidding up to the door pulling it open with a jangle of the bell there. Only then slipping inside and looking for her.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana was more than pleased to get a chance to connect with the young Alexander, it had been a long time since they'd gotten to see each other last and she was eager to see the young man that he was becoming today. She'd try to reach out to him online periodically to ask how he was doing, but now having the chance and opportunity to see him in person she was delighted!

When he arrives, he'll likely find her within moments as she's seated in a high table beside the glass window with a book resting in front of her. Wearing a red top with sleeves extending just past her elbows but otherwise leaving her forearms bare, a pair of black stylish glasses upon her face and her hair tied back into a ponytail, and her lower half in black loose fit slacks, and simple black shoes, she's in a very nice casual style this afternoon.

A cup of hot tea rests beside her book and her hands are up beside her chin with her palms together and her fingers inter-laced. With eyes down on her book she doesn't immediately react to Alex's arrival, whether she knows he's strolled on in to the coffee shop or not!

Alexander Aaron has posed:
    "Ms. Prince?"
And there he is, tall, grown. Mostly. A few inches short of his father but then the sons of Zeus were ever mountainous. He's come into his own with that bright smile and the easy going manner that's clear in his bright hazel eyes that light up when he catches sight of her. One hand lifting to offer a greeting as he crosses the distance to that high table.
And though he has that look if she peers, that Greek God look in that subtle perfection of features, he apparently takes effort to hide them. What with that bedraggled blond hair. And the overly baggy clothes that don't fit him well at all. Definitely an effort trying to be low key as he can.
"Hey." An informal greeting and there's a moment of sentiment when she might imagine he's considering. Hug? No Hug? But instead he gives another wave. "Good to see you." And he'll start to pull the other chair out.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's eyes rise up to look through her glasses (that are entirely worn just for aesthetics and not for any real need what so ever) and she offers a blossoming smile to the young man. "Alexander." She says his name in her smoky voice. "It is so good to see you!" She is then on her feet and before he can sit she opens her arms and moves in to offers HIM a hug. "And drop the 'Miss Prince' stuff immediately. I have only had that name for one ninth of my life, it is only a formality for it to exist and it is not meant for the mouths of family." Her very non-American accent hits all the syllables in her spoken words in very unique ways compared to most voices around here.

Once their initial greeting is over, she'll move to seat herself again on the edge of her tall chair with her feet still planted on the floor beneath the table and her hands reaching across the table toward its center, palms now flat upon it and her book and cup off to the side.

"How have you been?" She asks, giving him full attention now. "It has been fooorever. Look at you! You are taller than I am now, I do believe." And after saying that her red lips turn with her expression into that of a fun and happy grin.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The hug is accepted and at first she can just /feel/ that tension. That jolt of 'aie!' that races through him. But then almost immediately afterwards is that easing and relaxation of nerves. Then the hug is returned. He draws back, smiling into her eyes as his own greenish-blue irises flit back and forth as if trying to see deeply, and to be fair it is beautiful just to see that smile.
Another small hug then he slips away, his hand still in hers for a brief moment before he settles in that chair.
And then he accedes to her wishes, "Diana."
He shakes his head a little, eyes lowering, then peeks up to sneak another view as if she was embarrassing him. Which, to be fair, she did. A little. The flush of color to his cheeks is evidence enough of that. "I'm doing well. Still in High School, for a little bit longer at least."
He then nods to the side, gesturing with his thumb, "Then to Empire State I'm thinking. Archeology maybe? I had this kinda... idea. But ehn. And you? How are you doing?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is aware of the young man's tension and ability to slip into those awkward teenage reactions. She was a teenager too once, a long time ago, though she remembers it like it was yesterday all the same. She spends a lot of time around teens though, teaching at Happy Harbor at least once a week has increased that frequency even.

"Empire State? Archaeology? Oooh. I will have to introduce you to Professor Thornbach. An old colleague, and friend, from when I was living over-seas in Europe. He migrated here as well for the teaching position there. If it is a passion of yours, you should absolutely go after it." She shows another grin after saying these things to him. "If you would like to meet him, of course, just let me know."

After another little smile she folds her forearms together on the edge of the table between them. "How is your family doing?" She has to ask then. "The 'home life'." But she tries to temper the question as calmly as she can.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"I might!" He replies, his head bobbing in time with her words a bit, his attention on her lips somewhat, then up to her eyes when she finishes speaking. His own lips part and then twist as he murmurs, "I just. Sort of had this idea, if I'm going to live a long time. I should, you know, maybe get an angle on these things. If I'm simply by the nature of being very freaking old... of being a historian of sorts?"
Then he flares his hands wide, and it's clear he hasn't entirely thought it all through. Perhaps still trying to find his passions. "But if I consider doing it more seriously, I may take you up on that."
Then, of course, she brings up family and his eyebrows lift, as if to tell her that she has no idea how things can be with her father. Then again she has more experience with him than most. "Things are alright. Dad is Dad. He's keeping to himself mostly. He uhhh..."
Alex's smile broadens as he looks down, then he looks back up at her side eye as if imparting something painful or humorous, or both. "He sort of has gone whole hog into the whole politics thing for his union. So it's kinda crazy to just see him at these meetings using his best rhetoric tricks and banging his fist on a podium as he decries the 40 hour work week."
Shaking his head he looks away and grins, "It's just kinda crazy sometimes. But nicely..." He looks back, "Mundane."

Diana Prince has posed:
Its no real secret amongst those that know their family, know that Diana is not a fan of Alexander's father. They've clashed before, epically so in fact. But Diana also has no wish or desire to place any of the burden of she and his father's relationship onto Alex's shoulders. That would be unfair to the boy who is not at all responsible for his father's storied and infamous history throughout the ages of this world.

"I see." Comes Diana's response to Alex though before she tips forward and back a bit upon her seat and then shows a faint smirk. "Well I am glad that he is keeping busy and is keeping his aspirations on a... more reasonable level." She hopes it stays that way, or she'll have to speak with Ares herself...

Its not easy for her, her training and history throughout her life was to defeat Ares, and that he was the reason the Amazons were training so hard. She was created to kill Gods who dared to try and use their powers to harm the Earth... but again, none of that is of Alexander's concern or worry. So its kept bottled up.

"So you are staying here in New York now?" She asks him next then. "I am teaching at Happy Harbor High School now, you know. At least as often as I am able. They are more like guest lectures, I suppose... due to my challenging time schedule."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"I know you guys don't get along, and have valid reasons. But I'm not gonna stop hoping that things maybe change somehow. Some day." And perhaps when that might trigger a 'look' of some kind he holds up his hands as if to stay it, "That's all I'm gonna say on it." But his smile is warm as he looks down before nodding along with some more of what she says.
"I am, sometimes. Depending on..." He seems about to go into more detail when the mention of Happy Harbor registers. "Oh hey!" He straightens up and grabs one of the sugar packets off the table. "I'm actually supposed to attend that next semester. They're the..." He stops and looks around...
Then he looks back and says quieter, "The people who are supposd to help people like me acclimate to. You know. Things?" As he asks that he tears open the packet and dabs a little sugar on his fingertip, then tastes it lightly. Ever a sugar fiend.

Diana Prince has posed:
"Your father and I have had our issues, and... he is the last person who would ever be welcomed on my homeland, but... I am at least willing to be in a room with him now and not feel an instant desire to engage in any form of hostile behavior." She is trying to make a awkward subject at least a bit more light-hearted. Plus Alexander is older, nearly 20, he doesn't need to be coddled by any means now. "That is progress, I swear it."

Another little grin forms upon the Princess' lips and she uncrosses her arms and reaches out for her tea as Alex speaks of the school. After sipping it she nods her head. "Yes, that is the one. Many heroic types are volunteering their time there to aide the youth that is in attendance of. It is important that those with the powers, are trained how to properly utilize them. Otherwise? We will... only delve ever deeper into a chaotic existence. Especially with how many powered young people are sprouting up in the world these days. Mutant and otherwise."

"So I am one of those people that are here to help you acclimate to 'things'." Diana releases a soft and short laugh then, before smiling again. "You will have to attend one of my classes. I promise not to embarrass you." She lets her smile slip into a grin again.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"It is, I know how big of a deal that is." And Alexander has no illusions about his father. Despite his claims of justification, sometimes one must own their past.
But indeed he lets that drop and nods a little when she speaks towards the school. "Yah, da... I was told that it could be good. Meeting people, learning things." He looks to he side and chews on the inside of his cheek thoughtfully for a time, his thoughts drifting back to the years after he had just returned to the world after his stint with Amatsu-Mikaboshi. Then he looks back to her. "Help me get used to the whole..." His fingers lift from the tabletop, gesturing absently as he murmurs, "Being around people and having friends thing."
Since there had been that one incident a few years back.
But then he nods, then scoffs as he shoots a smirk at her. "Oh c'mon. Like you could embarrass me. Oh no, Diana is going to let people know we're related making me super popular on campus. Please no." Another scoff, but good-natured.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's slim pointed chin lowers down just a little as she stares across the distance between them to his own eyes and listens to his words. A big smile shows on her lips at what all he says and she glances away toward the street outside beyond the slightly tinted glass window of the coffee shop they occupy. She watches the traffic outside for a moment before she looks back on to him. "Learning things and meeting people is an essential part to our evolution as more well rounded individuals, Alexander." She moderately teases him for his way of phrasing that first part he'd said. "And I would be happy to make you 'more popular' by telling others that we are related. If it isn't 'embarrassing'." And she shakes her head playfully side to side as she says that last word, because when she's in a good mood she's a bit of a silly one, such as now!

"So are you planning to stay at Happy Harbor's living facilities? Or is your father here in Manhattan again as well?" This is asked just before Diana moves to take another sip of her tea. A second later and a couple stop by their table, they offer Diana a magazine with her picture on it and they ask if she'll sign it for their daughter who's in school. Diana, of course, complies with the request and even engages them in a bit of friendly banter before she stylizes her name on to the magazine with a picture of her in-action in her armor. Diana makes a little joke about the picture at her own expense as well, just for fun.

But after the couple depart, she puts her full attention back upon Alexander again. "My apologies. Public meetups... have that result..."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
Through it all Alexander listens to her, intent and keeping track with the way his eyes follow the curve of her lips and then flit back up to her eyes now and again. He exhales faintly at the shake of her head, so silly, almost laughing but clearly too cool to let himself do that too openly in public.
But she asks the question of where he will be staying and he says, "I was thinking of staying at the living facilities. At least for a time? Since... you know. Full experience?" He bites his lower lip thoughtfully, "Though. I mean, do you think it's a good idea for people to..."
His words stop when that couple show up with the magazine and he grins toward her, but then shows the people with the magazine an easy-going smile, not begrudging them that time taken for the attention. He even waves a little as they depart before he turns back to her and continues.
"Saying we're related is all well and good. But..." She can see the hesitance there, the reluctance as he looks away. Then back, "The God of Fear is not exactly the title of someone that people want to hang out with a lot. You know?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana shows a softer smile when he asks that last question and she has to straighten her back up for a moment to prepare her answer, sitting taller in her chair then and letting her fingertips move to the edge of the table to keep her stable and steady (not that she'd be anything but stable though!). She tilts her head just a little to the left, but her brown eyes remain on him through the lenses of the spectacles she's wearing.

"Fear is a human emotion, and it is something that we have to control and acknowledge is apart of our lives. It is only natural to embrace fear, study it, learn from it and there-by learn about ourselves. Fear lets us know what we are, and are not, capable of. So by that logic, having the 'God of Fear' around is nothing but a net positive, I would say." She then shows the faintest hint of a grin for a moment or two before she lets it subside and her head straightens again as she keeps her stare on him yet-still.

"You needn't let frets such as those deter your desire for living like..." She glances outside again then before back to him. "Like anyone else. You are you, Alexander. You are the commander of your own destiny, you are the writer of your own story. Your deeds and exploits are yours to craft, and none other's."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
As he listens to her he smiles a little, his own hazel eyes slipping away and following the direction she looks. His own thoughts drift, guided by her sentiments and words, and when she speaks toward his destiny he nods slowly, thoughtfully. Another small bit of sugar is taken on his fingertip and he tastes it, then crinkles his nose at perhaps an errant thought that occurs but he grants no voice.
Turning his attention back to her he says, "I actually had a good sit down and talk with grandfather when I was there for my ascension thing." Where he had been presented to the rest of their kin and some of the other pantheons. He takes a deep breath and uncurls a hand as he explains. "He sat me down in that big garden that Athena tends to? Do you know that one?"
But whatever her answer he presses on as he murmurs, "He told me that all of his children and family have their purviews. Their spheres of influence. But what many of them seem to have forgotten is that they are not just masters of those forces, but of the opposing forces as well."
He takes a deep breath, "Like you can't have one without the other. War. Peace. Beauty. Horror. And he told me that I was not only the god of Fear, but of courage and bravery as well."
A beat as he considers, looking at the window. "I kinda liked that idea."

Diana Prince has posed:
Everything that Alexander then says then and there makes a smile grow brighter upon Diana's red hued lips. At the end of it she just lowers her chin and offers a quick singular nod to what he'd just conveyed. "Precisely." She says to him. "That is precisely the right attitude to take for it, to keep close and to never let go of. A look into it like that, will be what truly does define your actions for the foreseeable future."

She pauses then to take another sip of her tea before she lowers the warm up down to hold it between the palms of either of her hands at its base. "Life is killing life all the time and so the Goddess kills herself in sacrifice of her own animal." Diana then says, randomly so, but quickly smiles lightly and continues. "That is the inscription upon my sword. It is the Sword of Athena, and it was in that garden that you spoke of that she gifted it upon me. It replaced my first sword... that your father destroyed."

A light grin shows to Alexander then. "We have a very interesting family, Alexander. I do not think anyone likely could argue otherwise."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Too interesting." Alexander says with the weight of regard that only a teenager can muster up when considering the amount of embarrassment and social stress that can be put upon them by a crazy family. And yet his smile is genuine as he shakes his head and reaches a hand across the table to give hers a gentle squeeze, as if to assure her everything is going to be alright. So long as he has something to say about it.
Then he crinkles his nose and grabs the small menu from her side of the table, "Ok so tell me what's good, and what sort of drink I should order? I still to this day have no idea how to talk all that crazy coffee lingo stuff."
And with that their day continues, though now with perhaps a better outlook gifted to the both of them.
