Synopsis:	Ending with a whimper

James Proudstar has posed:
It was a really nice night, staying in together, cooking, eatting, just spending time time together, it had been a busy few days which is why you're both asleep when they come. James wakes first and rolls over holding his body over your in the bed, your smell is in his nose, and he wants t wake you with a kiss but he knows the message that would send and that's not what you have time for. Jame nudges you awake and places his hand over your mouth, stifling any sound. He's looking into your eyes and he lifts the hand, motioning two fingers between us, "watch me", a finger to his mouth, "quiet". He points towards the windows, the fire escape, raises three fingers and makes a gun shape with his hand, then motions towards the door and holds up two fingers, then one finger and a gun and one finger and he motions back and forth between us. "One gunman, one like us." He nods his head to the side and raises his hip so that you can slide off the bed on the side away from the windows.

Nicole Adams has posed:
     This was a side of Jimmy that Nicole had never expected. She only gives a slight nod of her head in reply to his gestures--nothing that any of their would-be attackers could see, but he might see and understand. As soon as he moves off of her, she closes her eyes again, rolling over in bed as if in her sleep, with a little moan as if caught up in a dream. She winds up hitting the floor softly, quickly disentangling herself from the sheet and holding herself ready for whatever may come.

James Proudstar follows and pulls the mattress after them, covering them both with it. There is the sound of the door breaking in and the window smashing and the the muffled pop of multiple grenades, flash bangs, smoke and tear gas filling the space, Jim takes a deep breath, "Stay behind me." He holds his breath and wraps an empty pillow case around your face, wetting it with water from the bedside pitcher, not much but better than nothing and then he is crab walking towards them low below the level of the furniture, as the scan the room they're expecting their quarry to be stunned and coughing, which is why Jim pulling the knife from under the coffee table and throwing it at the biggest gunman with deadly accuracy is such a surprise. There is a second knife and a tomahawk in his hands as the mutant with them opens up with a stream of fire, that Jim takes on the mattress, shielding you both from the brunt of it.

Nicole Adams has posed:
     Nicole's able to peek out just enough from under the mattress to get a look at the fire-spewing mutant with them, grumbling to herself. With her eyes closed, she reaches out towards the mutant with her telekinesis, in a bid to turn him around and turn his fiery attack on the gunman just behind him! There's a grim smile on her face as she makes the attempt, though there are likely to be some questions later!

The mutant turns, groggy like he's in a trance still spewing fire, the gunman, looks surprised as he is consumed, but there is a muffled pop and the mutant slumps to the ground like a snuffed candle. The other two are also suprised at the turn and shift focus just long enough for Jim to sweep over the couch and close, dispatching them with the ease of a lion confronting prey. He stands there naked in the moonlight, checking you're okay, motioning for you to stay where you are. He drops to floor and the vase shatters, the only warning that a sniper was backing them up.

Nicole Adams has posed:
     While Nicole can't stop the vase from being shattered, she peeks out just long enough to see it happening. Time itself seems to stand still for her. She can see the shards exploding outwards, and... there! That silvery glint in the dim moonlight. The bullet! It and the shards start turning about, the shattered remains of the vase swirling around and around the bullet like rings around some strange planetoid. In one burst of energy, the bullet and pieces of the vase are sent back in the direction from which they came--hopefully to hit their mark, but will they?

James Proudstar looks from the vase to you, eyebrows raised as the bullet races back along its path. and shatters the scope and there is a scream from the sniper who slumps down, Jim stands slowly and no fires is forthcoming He stands and puts out any remaining fire, he walks over to you and smiles, "That was amazing, but we have to go, pack a bag, I'm not sure who they were but we can't be here if they come back."

Nicole Adams has posed:
     Nicole looks as if she has the world's biggest headache right about then, wincing as she gets up at last. That kind of focus, without training, took it out of her. She grumbles a little bit but nods, going to get dressed, and pack a few things in a bag. "Right. Who were they, and what were they doing here?" Her voice is a little hushed, like someone who was recovering from a hangover. "Never mind that... we can walk and talk."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar gathers somethings, as he dresses. He gets a couple aspirin and some cold water from the fridge. He gives them to you and takes you in his arms, pulling you close and taking a moment to be with you, "They look like the people we fought in Indonesia. I'm not sure who, or why, but I have to think they came here for me. I've been chasing their story and they aren't ready for it to come out. I'm sorry I brought this home. I will get you somewhere safe."
