Cast of Characters: Zatanna Zatara, Megan Gwynn, Gwen Stacy

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
After meeting Megan at the party she held and a couple of discussions, Zatanna sent an invitation to the young mutant to meet with her privately at Shadowcrest. When she arrives, she'll be shown to the the study, where Zatanna is dressed casually in a pair of slacks and a sweater top. In front of her is a small table holding various decks of cards and other magic paraphenial.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn was eager to meet with the more experienced sir dress, rather intrigued by the tea party the other day. When she arrives, she is shown to Zatanna's study and left there. Clearing her throat she peers at the other woman and smiles. "Hii, Miss..Zatanna? You summoned me?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Hello, Megan." Zatanna offers warmly as she comes around to greet Megan with a gentle clasp of her hands, and chuckles. "If I'd summoned you, dear, you'd just appeared. Plume of smoke optional." she teases, but smiles regardless. "But I thought I'd invite you over to learn more about you." She gestures to the table and leads the way over to it.

"How much do you know about you parentage and heritage?" comes the question as she picks up one of the decks of cards and shuffles it idly in her hands.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn oohs, "You can do that?" well of course she can. "I mean that would be super cool! I mean, I know how to teleport though I dunno about summoning someone to me.." she giggles, "Hmm, how much do I know about me? See that's the funny thing, far as I know my parents were both normal humans, and I'm a mutant.,Except that apparently I can cast magic, which I didn't know until Illyana summoned me and asked - no, demanded that I teleport her and the others..." she bites her lip, really it's a long story, "Oh yea, and apparently I have a hole in my soul thanks to the soul dagger Illy created for me.." and that doesn't sit terribly well with her..

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Hmm." Zatanna muses, considering the information that Megan is giving her, and the young woman is trying to digest it. "Illyana summoned you and used you as a teleporter?" That actually draws some surprise from her. Almost as much as. "A dagger made from your soul. That is a very powerful weapon. The soul is more than just thoughts and feelings, it's the very source of what you are. I highly doubt that both of your parents were human. At least the biological ones." The idea that Megan could have been adopted or found in a cabbage patch is totally a thought to go over.

Later, though. She's got other things to address and ask. "So you can teleport. What else can you do? Actually. Let me ask this. And this is not a 'stupid' question. And there will be no such thing. I'm curious as to what you know. And what I might be able to show. What do you know about magic?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen wasn't here for an interview, coming down from upstairs in a spagetti strap tanktop and jeans with her hair undercut blonde hair pulled up in a ponytail. A pair of earbuds in, she's singing quietly to herself, "So put your best face on, every body... Pretend you know this song, every body... come hang...." Hoping the last three steps, "Let's go out with a bang.. Bang bang bang..." Angling around the doorway to the study, she pulls short passing it on the way to the kitchen and leans back with a hand on the door frame, finger wiggling at Zatanna and her guest. "Tea?" Pulling one bud out, grinning practically ear to ear.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn bites her lip, "Umm it's actually quite funny, see at the time, someone had stolen Illy's soul sword and when she was resurrected she came back as this freaky demon girl who wanted help to defeat the demon who had taken over limbo in her absence. so yeah, some of my friends were kidnapped by the same demons so we made a deal..She used to help me find my friends if she makes a soul sword from my soul and uses it to defeat this demon.."

She shrugs, it's a lot to digest, "Hmm well I can teleport, cast a sleep spell..I once read and used magic briefly from a book, a demon banishment spell? Ooh and I can fly and cast illusions with my pixie dust." she grins, "That's super funn...And of course I know what magic us, kinda..I mean I can sense it sometimes you know?"

And then she sees the newcomer and waves to Gwen. "Hi! Didn't know there was anyone wise here!"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"And instead of returning the piece of the soul, she allowed you to keep it as a weapon. Interesting." Zatanna nods thoughtfully at that, hands resting on the table as she sets down the deck of cards, and was just about to ask another question as she listens to Megan's magical experiences, when Gwen shows up the door frame. "Hey babe." she greets the other woman. "I'm good, thanks. But I want you to meet someone."

She comes up to greet Gwen with a light kiss on the cheek before she offers introductions. "Gwen, this is Megan Gwynn. She's a magic user, and I simply love the wings and hair. Actually reminded me of you a little." she teases, then offers. "Megan, this is Gwen Stacy. She's my girlfriend, so you'll probably be seeing a bit of her if you accept my offer... which I'm getting to!" she finally focuses.

Stepping back to the table, she gestures to the cards, setting her finger on them. "What do you think magic is?" she asks the pair of them.

"Some people say it's a trick. It's a good place to start. I have a deck of cards..." She spreads them out on the table. "As I fan them out, you can see that it's fifty-two different cards, a perfectly normal set."

Taking up the cards and shuffles them. "Then I shuffle them. And spread them out." And she does so. "And every single card if the Ace of Hearts." They are. Every one of the fifty-two cards is the ace of hearts. "Why is that magic?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Heeellooo dah'link." Gwen pulls herself back up from her awkward backwards lean, both hands on the doorframe, to shimmy on in towards Zatanna offering up introductions. The earbuds hang forward on her shoulders, music quiet from the phone in the back-pocket of her jeans, she brings her hand up to lay against the oposite side of Zee's cheek to the one the sorceress kisses. A beaming smile is direct towards Megan, "Oh! Well, I'm digging the wings." Devil horns, winking towards the mutant, peeking around the pixie towards the desk, "Ah-ha!" Moving over to grab up her Switch, holding it up, "I am absolutely not a magician." To the guest, since it's almost positive that Zee knows that already.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn glances to Gwen and smiles, offering her hand, "Nice to meet you, Gwen! Are you a magic user too?" to Zatanna she just shrugs, watching the card trick. "Hmmm well isn't magic more than sleight it hand? More like..Making something out if nothing? Doing the impossible? I guess it is a pretty broad term.." she giggles when her hair and wings are commented on, "Thanks!"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Seeing the Switch picked up, Zatanna chuckles. "I'll be up in a bit to visit your Island." she promises, before she turns her attention back to Megan. "It's sort of like that." comes Zee's explanation as she pushes the cards back together and sets them aside. "Magic is asserting one reality... that there were fifty-two different cards in the deck, but then with a suggestion, I replaced that reality I just showed you with my own - a contradiction of what you had thought. Hence, now there was fifty-two of the same card. It's about suggestion."

She smiles slightly, warmly, and continues. "Magic is about suggestion. So let's up the scale from cards. We're in a room. The floor is solid, and all is as it should be with the laws of physics in place. Floor, cieling, walls." She gestures to Gwen. "No cheating." she teases the Ghost Spider in disguise, before turning her attention back to Megan. "And then someone who knows what they're doing asserts the inverse of everything you think." She utters two simple words.

"Edispu nwod."

And like that, Zatanna, Megan and Gwen are all standing on the cieling facing down. As if standing in normal gravity, there's no floating hair. No dropping clothes to make people immodest. They're just standing on the cieling. Upside down.

"That's magic."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen tucks the device under her arm and bobs her head to Zatanna's promise, it earns the raven haired Mistress of the Manor a smirk, turning a little to speak to Megan, "Animal Crossing came out at midnight." Explaining, "I stood in line for three hours at the midnight release to get our copies because /someone/ had magical business." Very, very clearly teasing the Sorceress who playfully accuses her of cheating! The cheek! Gwen looks absolutely agasp!

Until they're stnading on the ceiling.

Peerking up at the floor. There's a hard squint for a second like she's wincing, but the grin never leaves. "That's my baby, showing off... but she's still never seen Labryinth."

Spinning on he rheel, she makes her way over to said Sorceress. "I'm going to be in the den with the Owl. He and I have some stuff to sort out." Up on her toes to kiss her nose, she waves back at Megan, "I suppose I'll see you around more if you accept, but it was nice to meet you."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks, "Warping reality? Ok I get that, but doesn't take make it go against the laws of nature? I mean you can do literally anything with magic right? Wven stuff you shouldn't...?" and suddenly they're on the ceiling and she squeaks. "Meep! is this really all just an illusion?" or has she made the impossible possible?

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Don't sell your body to Tom Nook for bells, that belongs to me!" Zatanna calls out after Gwen. "And unlike some people, I do have to work in order to provide spomani amaretto cheesecake that has somehow disappeared. And if you say magic, I'll show you exactly where on your hips it went to!"

Though she turns to Megan and her question. "Does it feel like an illusion? Or like reality?" With that, she comments quietly.

"Kcab ot lamron."

And with that, they're standing on the floor again. "When you're magic, like we're magic, Megan, the laws of reality don't really apply. My question for you is that you're a student, and still young. You have your friends and your life. Do you want to learn more about what you are and what you do, though?" she asks. "Would you like to learn to find your focus, your being -- what it was that made Illyana come to you. Not just three card monty or how the cut the cutie in half trick. I want to take on an assistant, Megan. Someone to teach the art to. And I want you to be that person, because you are one of the most naturally adept... if untrained... people I have met."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Magic!" Gwen calls out from the hallway, peeking her head back around the door frame, then disappearing in a Vaudvillian manner, completely with nefarious laughter. She was even pantomiming twirling her mustache! Headed for the den, though she'll probably end up teleported to Mars with the Sandworms for the joke.

There, she drops down into an overstuffed chair, plugs her earbuds back in, and brings her barefeet up into the chair with her at a side lean against the arm of said chair to play her switch. Quietly singing to herself as she goes about picking weeds like a Spider powered lawncare professional.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks, finding her feet on solid ground again and grins, "Cool trick!" and she draws a deep breath at Zatanna's offer, "Oooh really? You'd take me in as an apprentice? I mean..I'm. Rey new at this magic thing but, I real,y do wanna learn more about myself and to better control my magic! I mean, that would be awesome! Sign me up!"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I'll talk to your school, then, and make sure that they know." Zatanna offers, giving Megan a smile. "I already know one of your instructors, Jean Grey, so we should be good. And it won't be easy, but I'll try to make it as informative and fun as when I was trained." She offers her hand to Megan. "Welcome aboard, apprentice."
