Meanwhile, back at the tower.
Date of Scene: 19 June 2021
Location: Main Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Heather Danielson, Pol Hevonen, Kian, Irie West

Heather Danielson has posed:
Cheeks bulging like some human/chipmunk hybrid, Heather sits at the table in her civilian wardrobe.  She has the last couple of bites of a hoagie before her on a table as she eats, and she washes down her most recent bite with a gulp of the water in her other hand.  It always seems as if she is packing in the calories.  Enough to feed a horse!  Er… bad example.  Her unique powerset requires boatloads of extra calories.  Makes people jealous that she retains her figure despite eating like four frat boys combined.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
Sagittarius, the archer, actual centaur, has ordered pizza.  And actual beer.  And barbecue, it seems.  Whatever's going on, the amount of food is actually enough to feed ten normal people.  The beer?  Probably not going to be enough to make a drunken centaur.
That's why he has like five two-liter bottles swelling up in the warmth along the wall of the kitchen.  Home brew fruit beer.  With ginger.
"So what's that thing you're eating?"

Kian has posed:
The flutter of large wings means exactly what it usually does: Kían flits out of the open shaft, crosses the large open area that is the common room in a shallow arc, and touches down gently at the refrigerator after executing a perfect (and perfectly unnecessary) forward roll.
    Purple Kool-Ade time.
"Kié, Heather an' Pol," he says over his shoulder as he gets the pitcher out.  Halfway to getting a tumbler, he stops and regards Pol.  "Or iss it Saj?  Havin' more than one name confuses me."
And halfway back from filling the tumbler with ice, he stops and regards Heather.  "An' haf you met Pol yet?  Unless it iss Saj, in which case haf you met Saj yet?"  He giggles and can't help himself.  "Well, this is both of him, I suppose."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Iff a turf…" begins Heather.  But she pauses to swallow that large bite, and then shakes her head, "Sorry, bad table manners.  It's a turkey and swiss hoagie, a form of large sandwich."
She says this and glances up to see a Centaur, and then Kian.  She pauses, dumbstruck for just a moment before she adds, "And bears.  Oh my."
But then she turns her attention fully to Kian.  "Oh Ki. Sorry…" she mutters as she puts her hands over her sandwich as if trying to hide it.  But then she tilts her head and lifts a brow.  "Pol or Saj?  Are there two centaurs about?"  She grins and then looks to Pol.  "I'm Heather.  Sometimes they call me Knockout."

Pol Hevonen has posed:
"Saj is easier.  Pol is only half a' me, or maybe a third cause a' Cas," the centaur says to the bird-man, and downs one of the beers in a single long gulp, then sighs.  "Vitamin beer, is a real thing.  Hey, thanks for lettin' me talk to da folks, taday," the Centaur says.  "I was worried dey'd be sendin' out the search party doncha know."
He offers a hand to Heather, half-bowing on the left foreleg.  "Charmed ta meetcha.  I'm tha only one I know about unless Beastie Boy is herdin' up.  Sagittarius, or Saj.  Until I can get back ta human, which don't seem aboat to be happenin'."

Kian has posed:
Kían mostly suppresses the wince at the Sandwich of Evil.  Really, in the form of cold cuts, it doesn't look like a bird anyway.  "I would not worry much about needin' to look all human.  Many of us do not.  It does not seem to matter much."  He shrugs, and sips his sugar water.  "Although I would guess that gettin' around the Tower iss probably a challenge at your size?  I know I sometimes haf trouble wit' doors, even holdin' my wings close."
He glances over Saj's back half, without much recognition.  They don't have anything quite like horses on his world.  "I do not think you can fold up smaller, can you?"

Heather Danielson has posed:
"I mean, if he could alter his form, that'd be amazing.  But I imagine we'd already be aware if he could," suggests Heather with a shrug.  She lifts her sandwich and takes that final bite, taking a few moments to chew it before she swallows and gulps down the rest of her water.
But then she leans back in her chair, hands going to her trim tummy as she adds, "Tummy is now happy.  I should be good for… maybe an hour.  So…."  She pops up to her feet and makes her way towards Pol.  She offers a hand with a grin and adds, "So, are you a guest or a new member of the Titans?" she asks.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
"Guest, I guess?  I'm a medical student in my human life.  I can't fold up.  So no way am gonna fit in my dorm room at Hunter like dis, so I hope I figger out how ta turn back before summer term starts," Saj says, wide eyed.  As though he'd just realized this.
The centaur, being about 8 feet tall and proportionally huge, has to be careful not to completely engulf the teenage girl's hand.  But it can be managed.
"So… how do ya get to be a member?"

Kian has posed:
"I… you know, I really do not know.  I just fell into it," Kían says.  "I was brought here so I could be somewhere safe… well, mos'ly safe while I learn the language an' got use to this world.  An' nex' thing I know I am a Titan an' blowin' up robot spiders an' gettin' involve in space fights an' tryin' to stop evil versions of my frien's."
He stops, and just sort of stares blankly for a moment.  "An' the only reason I believe all that an' more actually happened iss because I was there.  It does soun' insane when you just say it like that."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Well, I approached the Titans and basically applied for a job here.  Spent a good amount of time as a probationary member," says Heather as she returns the handshake firmly.  "So, are you strong?" she asks Pol.  "Or like really strong?" she adds.
"I got lucky here with the Titans.  I love being a part of the team."  Yep, that's a real smile on her face.  Not the model's fake smile.  The real happy one.  "I also love hanging out with Captain Kool-Aid here," she adds with a gesture towards Kian.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
Being asked if you're strong when you're an actual draft horse template.  Then realizing that you're not… sure?
"I dunno," Saj says, "I mean, I'm kinda stronger than most folks in my normal human shape.  But like this, I can't say, for sure.  Could check it out if you got a decent weight room."
He pauses, and says, "But first I gotta finish my meal, I'm starvin'."
There's still a half a pizza and some garlic cheese breads and at least another rack of baby ribs with habañero-tequila-honey sauce.

Kian has posed:
Kían nods once at Heather.  "You are surround by good people here," he says, blinks a couple times when he thinks about Raven, and decides to not qualify his statement.
"An' I suppose there iss a weight trainin' room?" he says dubiously, looking to Heather for confirmation.  "I get almos' all my exercise flyin', so I haf not look for anythin' else.  Well, an' makin' aerial mazes in the trainin' room a few levels down."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Of course there's a weight room.  A normal one, and a super one," states Heather as she steps back a half pace.  "That's where I do my workouts.  I'm trying t'get stronger.  I mean… super strength is one of my big things, and of all of the super strong Titans, I am like the weakest one.  But I'd be glad to show you where the weights are at," she offers with a bright grin.
"I lift there, but I also do a lot of running and other workouts.  Gotta stay in shape.  Being super strong doesn't mean I don't have to work to maintain my shape."

Pol Hevonen has posed:
How fast CAN a horse man wolf down his food?  It's like watching an eating contest.
His mother would be appalled and demanding to know if he even tasted it.  (He totally didn't, but he's already eaten one and a half pizzas already.)
Gulp chew once swallow beer gulp chew swallow gulp chew swallow all done.
"So show me the way to the weights," Saj grins.

Kian has posed:
Kían just shakes his head.  "I do not know how this place keeps any food in the kitchen," he remarks, still shaking his head… but grinning.  "I think I am lucky my needs are simple."
He drains and refills his glass.  "You will not be surprise," he says to Saj, "that I am not one of the stronges' Titans.  Which does not matter much since I do not want to hit anyone, of course."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Whoa there Tiny.  You might want to actually chew your food.  I mean taste is important, right?" asks Heather.  "Speaking of which… can you pour me one of those Kool-Aids?  I'll get more, don't worry." she asks as she turns her head towards Kian.
"That said… we can totally head down to the gym any time.  But you might want to let a little of your food actually reach your stomach," she suggests with a smirk towards Pol.

Irie West has posed:
There's a high pitched squealing sound that suddenly comes from the doorway leading to the stairs.  "EEEEEEEEEEEE!"  It's an excited, girly kind of squeal.  One that indicates that Irie has just come down for a bite to eat and has come across unexpected centaurness.  "OH.  MY.  GOD!" she exclaims.  "A real live centaur!"  She zips up to him and starts to barrage him with endless questions, her eyes wide and sparkly, clasping her hands in front of her chest.
"Do you eat raw oats and hay and stuff because of the horsey half or can you OH!  Pizza!  How much do you have to eat?  I bet I could out eat you.  Can I brush your mane?  I've always wanted a pony but my dad wouldn't ever let me have one.  OOH!  Can I ride you?  That would be neat.  Are you the mediciny, bow and arrow kind of Centaur like Chiron?  Or the drunky wildy type?  OH!  Can I braid your tail?  I've always seen them done with show horses and I've always wanted to do that too."
She only slows down because she has to breathe.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
"I tasted it already, it was more of the same," Saj scoffs.  "Is that grape kool-aid?"
He cleans up the pizza boxes since being a guest does not mean you leave a mess.
And then Typhoon Irie appears out of nowhere, and the weather reports said nothing about hyperactive teenage girl tornadoes.
It takes a moment to regain his aplomb, but he grins after a moment's confusion.
"No raw oats, I need about five to ten times what a normal guy would eat, yes, I'm sorry your dad was like that, maybe, and I'm the warrior bow and arrow with just a bit of the drunk wildy type, Chiron is a different constellation, and no please, I prefer my tail unbraided."

Kian has posed:
Kían gets Heather a glass, not spilling any despite the sudden and unexpected arrival of Irie, whom he greets with a "Kya!  Kié, Irie," before retreating back to the kitchen counter.
He blinks at Saj's question, and takes a thoughtful taste from his cup.  "Maybe?  I do not know.  It does not really taste like grapes.  An' I haf been ask to not make it because I use too much sugar."
Fun fact: Kian has been seen drinking just plain sugar water before.  If the grape Kool-Ade were ever replaced with sugar water dyed purple, he might not notice for a while.
"I think the packet says grape, but grapes taste differen'."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Artificial grape flavor isn't the same as grape juice," offers Heather.  She gestures to the elevator with her drinking glass before her phone vibrates.
She pauses to fish it out and then sighs, "Guys.  It's Daddy.  Can you show Pol here how to find the gym?  I need to take this," she says as she turns to wander off.

Irie West has posed:
The fact that Pol actually took time to respond to her questions without totally freaking out causes Irie's eyes to sparkle even more.  "Sweet," she says.  "Stay right there."  She's gone and back in a literal flash as she uses her superspeed to go to her room, grab a large headed brush and come right back.
"I think you use just the right amount of sugar, Kian." Irie says, because of course she would.
"Are you sure this is okay?"  Being told 'yes' isn't exactly something that's common in Irie's life, so she isn't exactly sure if there's more to it than that.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
"Sure," Saj says, "I haven't had a chance to groom my mane in a few days.  Good that you asked tho."
He shrugs at Kian.  "I thought Knockout wanted to see if I was stronger'n her, but I kinda doubt it."
Horse manes need combs, actually, with slightly wider teeth, but the brush work on the rest of his hair and the horse-hair on his body.

Kian has posed:
Kían chuckles.  "It iss always easier to haf someone help, yis?  There are places on my wings that are hard to reach."  Well, 'hard to reach' obviously doesn't mean 'unreachable' since Kían rarely has a feather out of place.
"An' I haf learn that it iss not a good idea to compare to each other.  Everyone's rhy'thar'yw… sorry, everyone's powers, they are so differen'.  I am not fastes' or stronges' or anythin'.  But I am still he'p-ful.  That iss what matters."

Irie West has posed:
Irie, never having actually groomed a horse before, sets to work with the brush, humming happily to herself.  This is, perhaps, the most out of trouble anybody has seen Irie in quite some time.  She stands there with her hands on her hips considering how she's going to overcome the first obstacle.  Actually reaching the mane.  She's a shorty and Pol… isn't.  She gets the idea to grab one of the barstools that are tucked away at the island in the kitchen and sets up on that.
She starts off with the mane that she can reach, brushing gently, at first, but more confidently when she's sure that she's not hurting the centaur.  There may be some knots in the hair that her brush can't untangle.  These she carefully picks out by hand.
She nods in agreement with Kian.  "Yeah.  It's not a contest.  I mean.  With me and Bart it's a contest, but it's a friendly family rivalry type thing."  Is she actually speaking at normal speed now?  "Everybody brings something to the table.  Even if it is just pizza.  Never underestimate the power of pizza."

Pol Hevonen has posed:
"Rih tharr yoo?" Saj asks Kian, shifting slightly to allow Irie to easily access his mane.  It's not very tangled, but it's also clear that he can't really reach it.  He's not quite purring but it's a close thing.
"I do archery, and I'm a decent hunter—actually more than decent, but I don't think people in cities do that kind of thing."

Kian has posed:
"Jus' do not touch any pizza that iss label as Kori's," Kían advises, without expanding on it—although his feathers fuff out slightly and then smooth back down, as though he'd shuddered.
It takes the birdman a moment to realize that Saj is asking what he said—his native Akiár'shak has never been forced through a heavy Yooper accent before.  Well, English has never been forced through an Akiár accent before Kían, so fair play.  "Rhy'thar'yw," he repeats, more like 'rye' (with the r being slightly trilled) 'thahr' (th as in 'Thomas') 'eye'.  "It iss our word for what you call powers.  Literally, it means 'god-gift'."

Irie West has posed:
"We've got a couple of superheroes out there where Archery is their thing," supplies Irie, still working on the mane.  She works at a part until it's smooth and glossy, knowing how to take care of thick hair due to her own red headed nature.  She wrinkles her nose.  "I don't think hunting in the city is anything like hunting out in the woods.  That and not many animals in the city unless you're hunting, like, pigeons or rats."
"How many people on your planet have powers?" she asks of Kian.  "From what you've mentioned about yourself it didn't sound like there was that many.

Pol Hevonen has posed:
Saj does not question the guidance.  Do not steal other people's pizza, always a good idea.
"I see why horses like this," Saj says.  "It's like havin' a spa day."
He lowers himself into a sort of "cat loaf" position that doesn't seem like something a horse would normally do, but centaurs are more flexible than horses.  He's got no idea that Irie isn't normally perfectly calm and collected, outside the sort of reaction she first had, which honestly, matched several of his female cousins when they first met the draft horses on the farm when he was growing up.  It was known as the "Horse Crazies."

Kian has posed:
"Not many?  I am the only one.  Powers are very rare on our worlds; the last one was… well, I am not sure.  It was over a hundred of our years ago, but I do not know how long our year is against yours, and what we call a hundred, you call sixty-four.  But it was long before I was born.  This world, I can not think of anyone I know who does not have a power of some kind.  They are almos' normal here, an' in a strange way it makes me feel normal.  If that makes any sense.  I am not sure it makes sense to me."

Irie West has posed:
Irie grins from ear to ear at the 'spa day' comment, clearly pleased that Saj is enjoying himself.  "Weird that you have a word for something that doesn't really happen," Irie says, adjusting herself now that she can reach higher on the centaur.  "Though I guess that even if it happened once you have to call it something."  She nods at Kian.  "Yeah. It totally makes sense.  If there weren't any powers here, or mutants or anything, you'd be the only birdman on the planet and I'd imagine that would make you stand out all the time."
