Bart and Beacon
Date of Scene:	20 June 2021
Location:	Sublevel 2 -Training Facilities - The Roost
Synopsis:	Bart is always about to help Phoebe with a quick laugh, even when she doubts her own importance to the Outsiders. Phoebe is quick to correct Bart that although she uses armor that Tim designed for her and she's allowed to patrol Gotham, she is not a member of the Bat family. Phoebe also now has to make sure Bart doesn't tie her shoes together at random!

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Flip the switch you've got a killer itch written on the bedroom walls, break back it's like a heart attack you're feeling that forever fall--"

    There's a steady beat coming from the training room. In spite of the fact that between healing bystanders, a knifed cassowary, using her light staff and then saving one of the cubs, Phoebe isn't resting.

    Her braids were pulled back and tucked into a loose wrap. She wore a gray and teal workout top and yoga pants, and was currently wailing on a punching bag, her wrists and palms wrapped.

    That bag might have owed her money or insulted her mother, hard to say.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen is coming by the room when he hears the music. Thats not Rob or Laura's music, as they are the ones he hears beating up on the bag the most often. He will come around the corner, and looks into the room to see whats going on. When he sees Phoebe, his brow raises a bit watching her "Give it a hey ya, and a hea yah." He says.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "I can't fight crime at night by giving loud kiai!" Phoebe fires back at Bart with a grin, turning and sweeping her leg under the bag, and misjudging just enough that it gives her a solid THUMP to her shoulder, knocking her back a few inches before she hops up to hold it still.

    "Hey Bart, how goes?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "Sure you can, you just have to make sure you use it as a surprise." He jumps around making karate poses with accompanying sound effects. He stops after a moment, and says "Doing pretty good, how about you?" He checks in on her.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    Phoebe walks around Bart as he strikes poses, and towards the end when he pauses in the sound effects she drops and tries to back-leg sweep him, figuring he'd see her telegraph a mile away, figuratively, and disengage in a Flash, literally.

    "Ah, well..." she pauses, looking at her hands a moment, turning one over. "I had an ache in my left hand earlier today, but it's pretty well resolved. How are the cubs?" she questions, and she pauses, "And the birds? No lasting effects? What the *heck* made that guy think he could take on a literal walking dinosaur who wants death and destruction of all mankind?" she asks in exasperation.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen does step away, but then steps back and unties her shoe, removing it and tying it to the other shoe in a blink. He comes back to where he was before the foot sweep. "This is Gotham, why do any of them do things? I mean I wager they got the highest security of any zoo, on birds, crocs, and hyenas." He offers in explanation.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    She was banking on that, ehr foot doesn't get too far, she ends up coming down on her own momentumn, but instead of being cross, she laughs.

    And she sits on her butt to untie and retie her shoes.
    "More that someone stabbed the cassowary while I was healing his laceration." she points out with a little smile, and then just leans back on her palms.

    "Yeah, but it looks like they were able to find a vulnerability in the keycard system that also let them access the emergency exit alarms."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit and says "There working on a whole new upgrade from Wayne tech, with some addons from Kord industries, so hopefully the new stull will last at least a few months." He jokes a bit. He does zoom out and id back with waters and a bag of chips. He offers her one of the bottles of wate.r

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    Phoebe gives a grin, and only has to pause her talking about a half second between Bart's exit and return.

    "That'd be nice. I know they're working on updating the Asiatic bear exhibit too." she smiles. "Wish I could get a job there, but until February, I'm limited to gift shop work. Can't do anything remotely interesting until you're older than eighteen. And... she pauses a moment, adn then gives a shrug, dismissing her throught as she cracks open the bottle of water.

    "Bart... we're friends, right?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and opens the chips, munching a few and offering her some "Of course we are friends. I mean do you think I would offer just anyone my "Sweet Pimento cream cheese chips?" He grins a bit at her, and "Serious though whats up?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Ordinarily I'd decline..." Phoebe admits, but she does accept a couple of chips, and she looks at Bart, and she munches a moment.

    "So... I'm going into my senior year of highschool, but I'm still expelled from the Gotham school district. Trying my best to get by but there's some midigating circumstances. " she frowns, and draws her legs up.

    "While I was in Montana, the two people pretending to be my parents managed to drain my trust fund."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms, and nods a bit "Need to borrow some money?" He will off again, and comes back with a shoebox and offers it to her "If you need it here, I can get more, thats my burger fund." He smiles a bit at her, and says "Tim might be able to see if he can get the money back into your account, with stolen identity, or something."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "I already went to the justice department for it. THey were technically my guardians at the time and had full access. Immoral, unethical, but completely legal." she states, and she frowns.

    "Bart, you're in college and work at the zoo. I'm not taking your burger money fund, that's for your burgers." she smiles. "but I do appreciate the gesture." she smiles, and then rubs the back of her head.

    "I just need to get a job is all. I put in a couple applications..."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "If you need it, I can make it back, just will hit a few cities in Michigan a bit earlier than I planned. " He smiles but does not force the money on her. If not money what ya need? I will do anything I can to help."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Just... I don't know. I honestly did not think that vigilantism would involve trying to calculate how much rice and beans I can withstand until I beg someone to buy me a pizza!" she laughs. "I mean, I get a room here. I don't havt to bother my mom with comings and goings and Scout is safe with her for now. Tim provides my armor and tech and repair because I help out the team in total. I could go and get a job with the Embassy, but I would feel bad asking Diana for help."

    Phoebe gives a scowl. "Apparently I just like doing things the difficult way."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen chuckles and says "Trust me, I have been told many times of the benefits of doing things the hard way." He grins and says "I will help you in any way I can Phoebe, have been considering trying to find a place besides here in case I want to bring people over. If you want can see about a place with two bedrooms or something."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Yeah, my mom's already concerned I'm living with a bunch of college students in a run-down theater in Gotham. She thinks it's either going to turn into Rent or it's going to turn into a horror mov-" she pauses, and then she rubs the back of her neck and goes "Ah. Besides. With my aura in flux a little, might not be the best idea to have me around for bringing people over."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen says, "Well seriously anything you need." It dawns on him about now "Oh wanting me to put word in for you at the zoo? Tell them your a good kid and all that?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "... nah, like I said, I'm too young for anything except the gift shop or fast food." Phoebe points out, "At least until February." she then breathes out. "... really about the only thing I can do is vigilante work. If I'm around too many people at once who knows what might happen. I felt so... so *drained* after going to the courthouse for emancipation papers."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit to this and says "Maybe you can do some call center work from home. " He offers and says "Need to make sure you have a life besides just the one in mask."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    Phoebe frowns at the last part.

    "... is there a difference anymore?" she questions softly. "Balm is important to the Outsiders. To the Amazons. Balm healed Diana enough to get a message out, helps out when things go wrong. Balm was able to heal other heroes in fights. Balm soothes and makes things hopeful. Phoebe disappoints her mother by breaking cheerleader's noses and getting expelled from a public highschool for fighting. Do you know how hard it is to get expelled from *Gotham* for fighting?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her, and says "And with all you were going to I would wager your mom totally understands. You say your worried about how your powers will be around large groups of people, think it might be that your loosing yourself. You need to be true to yourself. I could go all superhero all the time, and such, but I would miss so much in the normal world. Tell me what did you want to do before you started the whole hero thing?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "She's disappointed I ran away instead of waiting for the district psych to explain that I was technically a traumatized homeless teen." Phoebe gives a small smile. "Dr. Finnegan and I go a while back, she knows my mom."

    She reaches over to snag another chip from Bart.

    "Eh. I don't even know who I am anymore half the time, Bart." she states with a shrug. "... and... I can't get in the normal world what I wanted. Especially not anymore."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen 's brow raises a bit and says "What did you want Phoebe?" He asks her simply and straight forward.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "... more than everything? Once upon a time, to know that I wasn't someone who could just be thrown away." Phoebe states, and sips her water. "After that? My dad back."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her, and says "Well you know you can't be thrown away, you have friends, who will fight tooth and nail when someone tries to take you away." He reaches over and puts a hand on her shoulder "I wish I could bring your dad back, I truly do, but if it, If I thought it would work I would run back and change things, but honestly all that would do is put me in a divergent reality where a new you had him, but not this one, and I wager there is a lot of those realities already.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Well, yeah, then I wouldn't have you in this reality. And man, that would *suck*. Who else would I get for late night noodle runs?" she asks, and she very lightly punches Bart on the shoulder.

    "It's all right, Bart. I feel a little lost right now, but things will work out. I've always kept myself up with that faith. If nothing else..." she looks over their training room, and she leans her head back a moment, looking skyward -- though to the other Outsiders above them, or elsewhere, is anyone's guess.

    "... that there is Good in the world, Mr. Frodo, and that is worth fighting for."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her and smiles "There is a lot of good in the world, and every little bit we do helps it get more so. I think you need to think a bit about whar Phoebe wants in life so you can find a balance of the two.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    Phoebe gives a wry smile.

    "... yeah, pretty sure work/life balance isn't the strong suite of any hero out of Gotham. We're all mad, here." she jokes, and goes to hop up, extending a hand down to Bart. "Thank you for hearing me out. I'd... ordinarily vent to someone else, but they're more problem-solving orientated than listening orientated."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen grins and says "Well if I could solve them I would but problems like that I think are more will help where I can but you have to do the heavy lifting on these." He offers her a smile and finishes up the chips.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    Phoebe sticks her tongue out at Bart.

    "I could just give up on having a public life and just be Balm full time. Then I don't even need to worry about my senior year."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen shakes his head a bit and says "How are you going to explain to The Bat, you quit school?" He asks her crossing his arms at her with a little smirk.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "I'll explain that I broke a nose, a collarbone, and dislocated a shoulder of a cheerleader and two football players, then slipped out a locked third floor councilor's office and ran along rooftops until I could come to a fire escape. I don't even have one of the line guns. I did it all on feet carrying my backpack. In winter. Uphill both ways in the snow." she jokes to Bart. "Besides -- I'd think if Batman cared about my education, there would have been A Moment to discuss it."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her, and says "Ok, Nightwing has a degree, Batgirl has a degree, Tim could have seven if he set his mind to it. I Think the bat likes you to work the mind as well as the body.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Yeah, but Bart, important thing to note -- I'm an Outsider. I'm not a Bat. I'm not a Titan and I can't fufil the duties of an Amazon, so here is where I am." Phoebe states -- and there is even an edge of bitterness in the statement that is just a little sharp. It might have struck a nerve. A very raw nerve. Phoebe's whole body language changes, her shoulders tightening up slightly, her head drawing down before she reaches for the wrap for her braids and gently withdraws the braids from it. "And that's fine."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her "Your in Gotham, and why can you not fufil a amazon's duty?" He asks her "And aint nothing wrong with being an outsider. Mr Murder Mittens is an outsider." He jokes

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Doesn't matter. I'm not in that group. I don't have access to things. I get an armor, and a domino, and that's because I kept getting shot." Phoebe states, her voice getting a little more bitter, even though her aura is still sunny and warm.

    "... they made Caitlin a full Amazon. Big ceremony and everything. Queen Hippolyta was there and let me tell you just seeing her, in person was..." she frowns, and pauses "... it was intimidating to say the least. You have to take an oath to be an Amazon. Caitlin is phenominal. Cassie, Donna and Diana are *literally* Demi-Gods. I'm not in their class. And that's... that's okay. I can do things they can't."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "There is a whole island of them that aint demi-gods I believe." He looks to her, and says "And you are destined for great things grasshopper, it is best you are prepared for them." He says in his best yoda voice.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "Bleeh." Phoebe states. "Bart, it's fine. I'm not going to be in the same classification. That's /fine/. I'm here, where I can be the most useful to the Outsiders. That's good enough --" she reaches for her towel "For Balm, and for Phoebe."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen shrugs a bit and says "Not like anyone around here would know anything about the future or anything? He shrugs and is off. He does wait right outside the door, to hear what her reaction is.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "--THAT IS NOT FAIR-- and you *know* it." Phoebe states, shouting after Bart after a moment. She takes a deep breath, and she closes her eyes. "Yeah... shouting and being grumpy at the one who took you to feed the giraffes -- that's a good move, Phoebs." she mutters, and she goes to grab her bag and leave.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen is sitting outside the room waiting on her, and when she steps out he says "When friends are helping one another what is more important, being fair, of helping someone you care about?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    "AIE!!--" Phoebe is actually startled by Bart being right there. She pauses, she checks her shoes to make sure they're not tied together again, and then looks to Bart.

    Her lips press together, and then she shakes the water bottle at him.

    "Thank you for the hydration break. I'm going to go change and go for a run."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and says "You need anything just call and I will be there.. in a flash..." He grins at her and is off to let her have time to think and run.
