Location: Valerorium, Outer Provinces, Latveria
Synopsis: New Friends in Latveria
Cast of Characters: Reed Richards, Susan Richards

Reed Richards has posed:
Valerorium is not on the tourist brochures for the troubled nation state. It is not mentioned in the official registry of important locations, it is named for Victor's Mother, and for their own daughter and so bears some significance to the fantastic couple, and perhaps today that is enough, perhaps there is no other reason for this terrific twosome to be in the idyllic farming village. With its quaint thatched huts, planted fields and roaming livestock over seen by shepherds both human and canine. It could also be that the beer and cheese are superb, the best kept secret in Eastern Latveria.

Reed walks hand in hand with his wife taking in the sights, and nodding to the peasantry as they do so. The locals are wary but the Richards are not unfamiliar in this picturesque little hamlet and over time they have warmed up to the pair... slightly.

Susan Richards has posed:
It was easy to forget, in such a picturesque place like this, that Latveria's ruler had such a tangled connection to the couple now meandering along the pathway through the village. Too, the cool reception was, in its way, understandable. Perhaps with a little more time it would not need to be so. However, despite the humans being rather wary, this did not seem to extend to the feline population. A small orange tabby kitten just moseys on out and starts rubbing around first Sue's ankles, then Reed's, letting out the mightiest little -squeak- of a meow. Sue can't help laughing, bending over to offer her hand to the little guy to sniff. "Well, hello there!"

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards smiles and mirrors Susan, offering his hand, then stretching his pinky finger into a sort of squeaky toy moving around and flouncing in a prey like manner, keeping the kitty's attention on his digit, "Well, at least we have the approval of the most discerning citizens."

Susan Richards has posed:
Susan chuckles softly, watching Reed play with their new little friend. The kitten hunkers down on his front paws, his tail end raised up in the air, tail lashing about. There's the wind-up backside wiggle... another wiggle... and... POUNCE! Tiny little teeth and claws dig into their 'prey', leaving Susan in a fit of giggles. "Indeed. Felines can be quite selective."

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards hisses but doesn't cry out, you know his rubbery anatomy can take much worse, "Indeed, positively surgical in their precision." He manages to extract his finger, with the kitten mewling protests and trying to retrieve its toy persistently. He raises his eyebrows at Sue, "We seem to have attracted an audience." There are a group of elementary school age children surrounding the titanic twosome, watching the interaction intently.

Susan Richards has posed:
Susan chuckles softly, reaching out to distract the kitten with gentle ear scratches. It's an effective tactic, allowing Reed to extract his finger from between kitten teeth and claws, while also offering a dose of kitty cuteness to the gathering little ones. Duly distracted, the kitten just flops down on the ground and... goes belly-up, mewing. "Why, I do believe someone's asking for attention," she says, laughing and obliging the little ginger furball with a very gentle tummy rub. Always, always she is kind to the kitten, hopefully setting the example for kindness to the children watching. She smiles at the ones gathering. "Hello there!"

Reed Richards has posed:
The FF of course speak Latverian, especially since Valeria became Doom's Goddaughter, and Sue's accent is perfectly placed for the region, the children's eyes light up and the smile, outsiders rarely speak the language. They all start to talk at once. The is when a small oval faced little girl rushes up, flushed and out of breath, he words are quick and hard to the Richards to understand but the connotation is clear, 'Trouble danger, lives in the balance.' It takes a moment to distill the message Timmy is seems is trapped in the well.

Susan Richards has posed:
In an instant, Susan is on her feet, looking intently at the little girl. "Show us," she said simply, looking to Reed and nodding. Time to go to work. As they follow the little girl to the well, the kitten seems happy to follow along with his new favorite humans, mewing and purring as if this is some grand game or adventure.

Reed Richards has posed:
The little girl is swept into Reed's arms and onto his shoulder as he moves across the landscape his limbs, lengthening as she directs him to what is less a traditional well and more a hole in the ground. Reed calls out in Latverian to Timmy, the boys voice come back weak.

Susan Richards has posed:
It's with no small amount of relief that Susan hears the little boy calling back to them from the well, breathing out a sigh she hadn't realized she was holding in. Thinking quickly, she peered down the hole. "The sides don't look any too steady, Reed," she mutters. "I'll hold them with a forcefield, while you reach in and get the little boy out of there." Getting down on her stomach at the edge of the well, she calls out in Latverian, "Timmy? We're going to get you out of there. Just keep talking to us so we know you're okay. Stay calm and hold still, alright?"

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards smiles and nods, letting you take the lead, he moves slowly, cautiously down the hole, not touching the sides he activates a flashlight on his wrist as his arms move down the shaft, searching as he goes, trying to find Timmy, he is at the water line when he finally locates the small boy who is dirty and scraped from his fall. HIs ankle is purplish.

Susan Richards has posed:
Within the well, the sides seem to draw back, away from Timmy, the walls rebuilding themselves and no longer crumbling. "Almost there, Timmy," she calls down. "Just be brave a few moments longer. You're doing great!"

With a glance over at Reed, she murmurs softly, "On my mark, you reacn in and get him out of there. Be careful, looks like his ankle's hurt." A few seconds later... "Now!"

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards snags the child and pulls him free, carrying him as much as he can in sling like conveyance made of fingers and arms. Only pulling him closer when necessary to avoid the walls. He removes the child easilym cradling him and gingerly checking his lag, "He seems fine oher than a twisted ankle.

Susan Richards has posed:
Susan finally lets go of her forcefields, when she can see that there is no longer anybody down the well. The side crumble, then start collapsing, the well filling itself in and returning with a low rumble to the earth from whence it had been dug.

"You're okay, Timmy, we've got you. Shhhhhh." She reaches out to brush a bit of hair away from the boy's eyes and smiles. "You were really brave. I'm proud of you." Looking to the villagers that had gathered to witness the rescue, she smiles and asks, "Is there a bandage we can wrap his ankle with so it will heal properly?"

Reed Richards has posed:
The villagers produce a first aid kit, and Reed helps you bandage his ankle making sure the ankle is stabilized and cracking open an ice pack, to place upon it. "20 minutes on then let it rest 20, then back on. He needs to stay off the foot for a few days much as he can. Reed is also handing out candy bars to the kids, and various gadgets to every one. Reed smiles as Sue comforts the boy, watching her wistfully.

Susan Richards has posed:
"Oi, careful what gadgets you give to the little ones, Reed," Susan chides him gently, chuckling to herself. "The last thing I want is a call from Victor saying something's gone awry in a peaceful corner of his realm." But her verbal thumping of him is good-natured, as the worst thing she sees given is perhaps a fidget spinner or two. She looks at him just as wistfully, seeing how deftly he handles caring for the little boy. "Let's get you home to your family, hmmm? Then we can tell them just how brave you were."

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards smiles and raises his eyebrows at Susan, it's actually the candy bars, FantastiBars, specially made high quality rich chocolate, it drives Victor mad, a minor luxury, trivial but completely outside his control. They take the boy together back to his parents, it turns out the little girl was out intrepid explorers sister and she again leads the way. The boy wants to cry but he is brave and Reed takes an aspirin for the pain and mashes it into some of the chocolate for him. They arrive at the thatched later in the day the family is on the porch relaxing cleaning vegetables for the evening meal.

Susan Richards has posed:
Susan smiles and bows as she approaches the house, offering respect to the mother and father. After all, a family's home is their castle. For the moment, though, she lets the little girl lead the way, and tell the tale of the adventure down the well. "Your son was very brave," she adds to the girl's narrative. "And so was your daughter. She did the right thing in going to find help. You should be proud of them both."

Reed Richards has posed:
the Parents nod and smile at the respect, and the girl's story they listen to Reed's advice on treatement, the accept the chocolate and he aspirin. The parents offer to let the Richards stay for Dinner, a simple repast of beer and cheese and vegetables.

Susan Richards has posed:
"Thank you for the honor, we'd be delighted." So perhaps the Reeds didn't quite manage lunch in Latveria, but they did make new friends. Some furry, some not, but all unforgettable. Simple pleasures were the best ones, indeed.
