Just a little sample
Date of Scene: 02 July 2021
Location: Bushwick <Mutant Town>
Synopsis: Saeko thwarts the attempt of a few flyborgs to get some DNA from a mutant.
Cast of Characters: Baxter Stockman, Saeko

Baxter Stockman has posed:
Bushwick. Known affectionately as Mutant Town, the run down portion of Brooklyn has ended up the safe haven for many mutants. Still, poverty and homelessness are rather rampant, and that is rather handy for Baxter Stockman. He needs new samples. Mutant X-genes provide an amazing amount of research material, and each one is very different.
Where is he? Well, he's currently safe back at one of his labs, dealing with business. However, his nameless minions that can scurry about are happy to do his dirty work. It keeps his connection out of it, and gets the job done.

Today, that job is being done by flyborgs. The three foot tall mutant flies are hideous, and only in Mutant Town do they not receive screams from the public. Even at that, they are the type of mutant that would likely be seen with the underground morlocks, so they aren't exactly a welcome sight. Their insectoid bodies and mechanical augmentations cause most people to steer clear of them. These three? They are looking for a good target to sample, and they fly along the sidewalk in broad daylight, just looking for someone who is vulnerable.

Saeko has posed:
There's plenty of strange out there in the world, even without mutants, aliens and metas within it. Among the homeless and the poor there were those in need, those who called out for 'anybody' to lend them aid... and for a certain Tenko kitsune who deliberately chose a particular interpretation of Inari's rules? That was good enough for her.

A little shift, a little flicker of the air and a twist in the light were subtle enough changes, easily enough to go unnoticed, but in their wake a form materializes, feminine and unnaturally beautiful, but with her ears and tails on full display. The best part of mutant town? She truely didn't have to hide.

She moves, light-footed and easy, along the rooftop edge with eyes cast below. People were scared, people had reached out, but she didn't know exactly what she was looking at.

Baxter Stockman has posed:
The flyborgs scan, their red enhanced eyes scanning the area for threats, and targets. A green skinned young man is spotted. He made a mistake, though, while he was nervous about seeing the flyborgs, he decided to hide in a secluded place, finding a secluded spot behind a wall of buildings. The alley way follows behind several shops, and he tries to discretely step out of sight. Instead, he made himself a target when he would have otherwise not have been one.
The flyborgs, however, don't look up. They aren't looking to rooftops, they are looking below themselves. They file around the corner, but...where did that youth go? They hover there for a moment, and then start forward, carefully looking for their quarry.

Saeko has posed:
That was enough, enough danger, enough reason. Saeko was a divine servant, she had rules to follow, and the green-skinned kid was scared. She could feel it.

A wash of flame, bright blue and unnatural, fills the air between the robots and the mutant. When it parts? Saeko was standing there in his place, a simple cloaking spell hiding the mutant enough he could flee.

"You are unwelcome here..." she speaks, accented english clear and confident.

Baxter Stockman has posed:
Two of the flyborgs turn, though the third does not. It keeps scanning, and shortly it locates the mutant in question. The young man backs up a little. "Shoo, shoo!" he waves at it, as if it were a regular fly. It doesn't shoo.
The two that turned to face Saeko light up a bit, and their four armored arms open to face her. They don't speak, they don't argue. They simply attack. Saeko's appearance meant that she is a new target, another to get a blood sample from. Both fly straight toward her, arms extended to try to catch and restrain her.

Saeko has posed:
Ever the fox, ever the trickster. Saeko wasn't some spirit of combat or war, but she knew how to slip away. When those flyborgs leap at her? She slips backwards, a little flick of her wrist before the same flaring mystic flames surge. It wasn't so much an attack as deterant and distraction both. She was trying to slip around behind the bot ignoring her.

Hands come together, trying to bring that same kitsunebi flame to bare for a more distructive purpose. It was a robot, not a mortal...and she'd be happy to destroy it to keep a charge safe.

Baxter Stockman has posed:
Seako's mystic flames strike the eyes of the flyborgs, and while they dont' wince, they crash into the place where she had been previously. Their arms reach around, trying to locate her as they seek to regain their bearings, but find no targe.

The third flyborg dives forward, and the young man scoots back to dodge the grab himself, and as the flame strikes it, there's a scream of pain that comes from the altered beast. Flames scour the armor and it falls to the ground, the flesh beneath the armor seared and damaged. It turns around and leaps forward in retaliation to attack Saeko.

Saeko has posed:
If she was more of the scientific mind, she'd possibly be more curious about the cyborgs. They were feeling pain, which meant that she wasn't entirely accurate in thinking they were simply robots it seemed.

If the attention was on her? That was success enough, but now? She was focused on her and she had to avoid -three- of them while drawing them in. That was a dangerous game. Escaping without escaping!

Twisting and trying to weave, she narrowly pulls her tails free from being snagged. Trying to bring them after her? It was going to be a challenge...

Baxter Stockman has posed:
Indeed, all of the attention is on her. The flyborgs which had tried to attack her previously get enough sight back so that they can see where she is, and from the opposite direction, they dive back down. It seems that they do behave like flies. They swarm.

Saeko has posed:
Running, diving trying to weave. She had to move, but she had to keep their interest.

Swiping out with her hand, another little wave of flame surges out, attempting to destroy the damaged cyborg.

Of course, that might just leave her open to the others. For an immortal? She was still quite new to this heroic vigilante thing.

Baxter Stockman has posed:
The flame licks out at the damaged cyborg, striking the exposed flesh and sending it reeling back, landing against a dumpster and slumping to silence. It seems to give no deterrence to the other two, who do manage to clamp on, two of their four arms on each of hers. They are strong, really strong. While they are so small, they bring that strength to shove downward to try to pin Saeko to the ground.

Saeko has posed:
Saeko wasn't strong, at least compared to the many supers that were out there. Steel bonds were tricky, slender limbs and tails leave her at a disadvantage, she's easily enough taken off-balance and down to the ground with a soft 'ooph!' of impact.

That wasn't likely to be good, and no fox was a fan of being caught in a trap...but she couldn't exactly blast her way out of this one, so she'd have to get creative...

Or cheat.

With the air wavering around her, the Tenko closed her eyes, intending to teleport out of that grasp.

Baxter Stockman has posed:
One of the flyborgs produces a syringe, an empty one. It reaches out, intending to draw blood from the aqcuired Saeko. But just as it pressed forward to pierce her skin... she's gone.
It takes them a few moments, and they look around. Their initial target has taken the opportunity to flee as well. It looks like this attempt was a failure. They move to recover the fallen flyborg. Time to return to base.
