Date of Scene: 12 July 2021

Synopsis: Bobbi and Lance secret away from The Playground to New York where they get married. Plans are made and the ninjas turned up too late to stop them.
Cast of Characters: Bobbi Morse, Lance Hunter

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi sits patiently with Lance in City Hall. This is where you go if you want to get married but don't want to do a ceremony, or throw a party with your friends, or spend thousands of dollars on wedding dresses and tuxedos or have a banquet for two hundred people where a drunk cousin disgraces the family.

Bobbi and Lance didn't need any of that. They just needed each other. In life #1 Bobbi was on again and off again with Lance as they successfully loved and miscommunicated with each other over the years. But in life #2 Bobbi never got to have Lance in her life for long. Not after she killed him thanks to HYDRA indoctrination protocols.

When he re-entered her life and set her on a course that unravelled everything she thought she knew.. and then finally got out of the framework and had life #1 come crashing back down in to her mind. Well. There was no one else, could be no one else in all the multiverse, that she could ever love like Lance Hunter.

An elderly couple have their ticket flash up on the board and head in to see the judge. "Looks like we're next," she says. Bobbi's not been sure of a lot of stuff since getting out of the framework, but she is one hundred percent about this.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter's foot taps anxiously as they wait, he's dressed well an actual suit and tie for a change, the best suit in his closet, but nothing fancier than that. Today wasn't about putting on a show, it was about the two of them.

"'Bout time," Hunter smiles. "Any longer and we might have had gotten to 'death do us part' before we got bloody married," he says. Leave it to Lance to complain even on day like this.

Then, more seriously he says. "Glad we're doing this Bobs. Being without you there, it made me realize how much what we've got means. Life isn't the same without you."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
There's a small chuckle at his impatience. Bobbi seems a lot calmer about it, though is quite eager. "Life was literally hell without you. I.. it wasn't.. I am a bad person without good people in my life. You are good people Lance, kind of the best for me actually."

The door opens and the judge smiles at Lance and Bobbi, "That's a good start, why don't you both come in." The light above the door changes to their number. He walks back behind his desk. An older man wearing his judges robe. It's clear he likes his job and takes his duty seriously - and personally.

Bobbi gets up and enters the office and takes a seat. She reads the name plat: Judge Horatio Atkins. Take several generations back to have a first name like Horatio.

"Now let me see. Lancelot Hunter and Barbara Morse," he says and looks at the pair over his glasses. "Not young kids making rash life decisions, good. So why don't you tell me in your own words why you two should be married?"

Bobbi looks over to Lance and then back to the judge, "He understands me in ways no one else could ever. He stuck by me and risked his life for me many times. There is no one I trust more and no one I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Lance Hunter has posed:
Lance makes a show of reaching for his phone. "Want to say that again while I record?" he asks about being the best for her, though all joking aside he seems touched by the words. "Not a lot of people'd call me good people, let alone the best for them, but I know you mean it. And I'm glad me being around helps. I know it does the same for me."

Then it's time to go, he takes a seat and keeps his tongue bit to keep from making a remark about the judge's name. He can be an adult just this one time.

Hunter looks from the judge to Bobbi as she gives her reasons to be married. "Bobbi is the best, whether we're working together, or we're just at home making up games about our favourite shows, there's nobody I'd rather be around, and nobody else I'd want to see when times are good or bad. She gets me, and I get her, and while we might argue from time to time, I've never doubted she loved me and I loved her. So, really, there's no one else in the world I'd rather be married to."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
The judge considers for a moment and then nods his head, "This is a civil ceremony, which will grant you a marriage license. Either of you can cancel the license within sixty days of signing it. You may still opt to have a celebration afterward. Today we're here to do the official part of marriage."

"Now for the fun bit. We are gathered here today to unite the two of you in marriage, which is an institution ordained by the state and mode honorable by the faithful keeping of good people throughout the ages, and is not to be entered into lightly or unadvisedly."

"Do you Lancelot 'Lance' Hunter take Barbara 'Bobbi' Morse to be your partner, to love, comfort, and cherish from this day forth?"

"And do you Barbara 'Bobbi' Morse take Lancelot 'Lance' Hunter to be your partner, to love, comfort, and cherish from this day forth?"

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Noted," Hunter tells the judge about having a party later, even if that meant getting drunk and watching marbles or Cutthroat Kitchen.

He flinches slightly at his full name but soldiers on all the same, still smiling, as he says, "I do," looking to Bobbi for her reply even though he has no doubt what it will be.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"I do," Bobbi says looking at Lance.

"You may now exchange rings," the judge says.

Bobbi grins a moment and fishes in to her jacket pocket and presents a golden ring to Lance. It's immediately recognisable - his grandfathers wedding band. How Bobbi got her hands on it? unclear. But she is just that kind of person.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter grins to see the ring, his eyes lifting to hers with an unspoken 'how?' amazed and surprised. He produces a ring of his own, simple knotted gold with a single stone set in it, subtle and strong, just the sort of thing that could survive a mission or twenty and be easily moved to another finger if a cover required it. "Tried to find one with knockout gas but they were all out," he quips lightly. Inside there's an inscription, 'Don't die, love Lance'

Bobbi Morse has posed:
The judge raises an eyebrow. But he's not going to judgily judge the odd humour of the couple.

Bobbi looks at the inscription and melts a little next to Lance. She leans over and kisses him, then offers her finger as she slips the ring on to his finger. "I like that. We should get that engraved on yours too." Then adds for amusement, "Just in case anyone ever finds it they'll be like 'huh, he really did love himself'" She crinkles her nose playfully at him.

The judge says, "Having thus pledged yourselves each to the other, I do now, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the state of New York, pronounce you married. The clerk will accept your payment and issue your marriage license down the hall. As I say to all those who come before me, I wish you all the best and happiness and hope never to see you again." The old judge has some humour in him after all.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter laughs making a face ad Bobbi's joke. "Right," he says. "I'm the one who loves themself, I'm-" he looks to the judge and whatever he was about to say is put on the shelf, likely the thing about her being as strong as Cap. All the same he slips the ring on her finger while offering a finger for her to do the same.

There's a laugh from Lance for the little joke from the judge and he looks to Bobbi. "Know he didn't say, but what do you say, seal this right with a kiss?" he grins.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"The capitalist requires us to seal it with a cheque made out to State of New York. The kiss is just for us," she says and rests her finger tips on his cheek as she kisses him gently.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter grins before gently brushing his fingers along her cheek before he kisses her back. It's official, they're married, he can't stop grinning even in the kiss.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi says to the judge, "Thank you Judge." She loops her arm in to Hunter's and then teases, "Come on Mr. Morse, let's go do the paperwork." As she strolls out of the office and down the hall she chats, "I really liked that home by the lake I had in the framework. And my pet dog.. do you like dogs? we could get a dog... I promise I won't teach it German."

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Thanks, ma-" Hunter begins but finishes with "Judge." Before he heads out with Bobbi rolling his eyes and laughing. "Sure thing Mrs. Hunter," he teases before pondering the dog. "I'd be good with that, even if you did teach them German." He spoke a little at least. "What are we going to call him," a beat. "Or her?" he asks. "I think Daisy and her lawyer beau named their cat Director Furry."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi laughs at the name Matt and Daisy picked for their cat, "Amazing. I did not know that." She rests her head to his shoulder a little and says, "How about two dogs, so one isn't lonely. How about.. Jacob and Nona." The two Inhumans whose lives really shook her to the core about her own Inhumanity. One sacrificed himself to save the world, the other was a victim of HYDRA. Something Bobbi can relate to considerably.

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Yeah not sure if it's his real name or just something they call him, but Daisy mentioned it once," Hunter says grinning. "Two dogs..." he seems to be having second thoughts until he hears the names, he remembered Jacob and heard about Nona," he nods. "Good names, two dogs it is," he says with conviction. "When do we get them right away or after we move out of the Playground?"

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"Probably after we move out," she says as she signs the marriage license presented to them. Used to being the one with the most steady income, she swipes her credit card for payment.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Nodding, Hunter agrees. "When we move out," as he signs the certificate and then adding about the payment. "Guess that means I'm buying tonight," he says of their personal celebration, smiling as he does.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"Yes. The good whiskey. I acquired a taste in the last virtual decade." Bobbi smirks to Lance. She accepts the sealed envelope with their certificate from the clerk and turns to head toward the big doors. Except.. they're blocked.

The ninjas walked brazenly in to City Hall wearing all black and their faces covered. The guards at the front desk were subdued quickly and quietly, though the police have already been alerted that the foundation of New York's government is under attack.

Bobbi peers at them and presses her lips together, "Let me guess, you're here for us?"

They answer by drawing out daggers, swords, nunchucks, and even throwing stars. Bobbi tucks the license in to her coat pocket and looks at Lance, "Well it's hardly a proper wedding without ninjas now is it... Ready Mr. Morse-Hunter?" She cracks her neck to the side and lifts up her fists to fight the armed ninjas.

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Works for me," Hunter says before turning around and seeing a wall of ninjas waiting for them. "Huh, this is new," he remarks as he steps up besides Morse. "Ready," he says lifting his fists. "Mrs. Morse-Hunter," he says with a grin.

And then the fight begins...
