Cast of Characters: Lydia Dietrich, Clarice Ferguson, Raven Darkholme

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Now that they've found all the dresses that they need, it's time for the next part of the shopping spree. Shoes! and Lydia knows just the place. She looks at the sky, feeling the sun on her face, before turning to the other two women. "It's such a nice day today and it'd be a shame to waste it. We can either hail a cab to get to the shoe store I have in mind, or I can fly you there. What do you say?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Fly," Clarice says without hesitation - a smile on her features. "Give these New Yorkers something to gawk at - yeah?" Plus - she really wants to try flying, and who could blame her?
"...you've flown with passengers before, right" she asks curiously - as she looks up at the buildings towering over them. How far up with Lydia even take them, she had to wonder, as she shifts to be bag she carries over to her other hand.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Shoes. Raven wasn't overly excited about shoes, she preferred to be barefoot really, but when she needed shoes, they had to be sharp, stylish and comfortable. Purchasing shoes to go with the dresses Lydia bought here, now that idea made her smile.

She was herself today, her real self, Raven Darkholme the pale skinned, red headed human. After what happened in Bushwick, she needed to wear a disguise for a while.

One brow lifts slightly, "That's a good question, you have had passengers before, right?"

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia hesitates for a moment. "Nooo..." she says drawing out the word. "But I can pick up cars with my powers, and I /have/ hauled several hundred pounds of clay before." She shakes her head, and realizes that she'd gotten overly ambitious again. "I'll go hail a cab."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I would like to try flying sometime," Clarice replies encouragingly - giving Lydia a smile. "But maybe it's better to try out having multiple passengers - over a sandy beach or something like that?" she suggests - looking to Mystique for her opinion on the matter.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Raven hmmms softly, looking up at the sky then back to Lydia, "I trust you."

Either she actually did trust Lydia, or she was feeling like a daredevil. "I mean, just start out low until your certain, then gain some height and we can see what happens. I've never been flying either, sounds like fun to me."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia nods, "We'll start out low and slow at first, get a feel for it. Then I can pick up speed if you all feel comfortable with it." She motions for them to come to her, "Okay. Give me your bags." A tendril of mist solidifies and wraps itself around the handles, lifting them up to the air. She, then, gets close to the other two women and expands her field to encompass them. When the mists touch the women, they can feel it's cooling, numbing properties, like if somebody had rubbed mint on their skin. The mists around them glow brighter in intensity and solidify and lifts them a few inches into the air.

Lydia lets them hang there for a few moments getting a feel for their weight and bulk. "Hmm," she says thoughtfully. "Yes. This shouldn't be a problem." With that, emerald wings unfold from her back, much larger than normal, large enough to lift the trio into the air. Of course Lydia doesn't necessarily /need/ those wings to fly. It's just that the visualization helps her control.

At first they're flying about fifteen feet in the air. Just high enough to clear people walking across the street and cars that go along the roads. She also takes it fairly slow. About as fast as a good jogging pace. She makes some adjustments to how she's holding the two mutants until she gets something that feels right and seems comfortable for the other women. "How are you feeling? Want to go faster? Higher?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
What's the worst that can happen? Clarice tries to stop herself from imagining any answers to that question as she tries to force a confident smile into place. Really - she'd feel significantly better about this if she had her own gift to fall back on.
Still - there is something marvelous about being lifted up into the air, and the way the people stare up at them - not to mention the cooling sensation on her skin. "You never suffer the summer heat, do you?" she asks Lydia.
"I'm, uh... I'm fine. Raven?" she asks, glancing aside at her mentor.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
There is an expression on Raven's human face that neither lady would likely ever see on her mutant one... a big ol' shit eating grin, broad as the Grand Canyon is wide.

"This is fantastic!" She chimes rather enthusiastically, looking toward Clarice for a nod and then to Lydia for a brow wiggle.

"Like I said, I trust you... go higher, let's see what you can really do here. If Clarice get's too worry, we can always go back down."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia shakes her head at Clarice. "Not really, though it gets a bit chilly in the winter." She grins down at Raven, matching her enthusiasm. "Okay. Let's gooo!" With that, she figuratively opens the throttle and lets loose.

They shoot up into the air, the constricting feeling of Lydia's ectoplasm squeezes a bit tighter to make sure that she has a hold of them, and they reach a cruising altitude high enough to comfortably sail over most of the buildings. Then she jets forward at a breakneck speed, the buildings of Greenwich flying by beneath them.

She keeps this pace up for about ten minutes, occasionally making swooping turns to adjust her course (and maybe a few extra just for fun) until they get close to their location. She slows down to a more reasonable pace, and, once there, she gently lowers everybody to the ground, amongst the gawping pedestrians.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I said I'm fi-fiiiiine!" Clarice starts confidently - before ending on something closer to a squeak. Her eyes go wide and it takes her a little while - but eventually she's laughing and smiling, aside from the occassional gasp as Lydia changes direction on them, abruptly.
Once they're back on the ground she asks, "So, umm... You do that often, then? I mean - I guess if I could do that, I would, too..."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
This may not have been the way Raven wanted to get a hug from Lydia, but it was still fantastic. One hundred and forty-three years, and this was the first time she'd ever flown, safe for an airplane of course but that was no where near as fun.

Jokingly she calls out, "I can see my house from here!" which clearly she cannot, it's on the Asteroid, but she is having a grand old time, not at all tense or worried.

"If you get tired Lydia, let us know, we can walk the rest of the way... but I'd greatly appreciate you landed first," she wings at Lydia as she ends there, still grinning.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia is laughing in delight once everybody is safely on the ground. "I need to take on passengers more." She nods at Clarice, "Usually I fly when I have to go farther than the Toaster can take me. I love riding on him." The two would know that she's referring to her silver Vespa that she likes to ride around.

"I'm surprised nobody's taken you flying before," she says to Raven. Clarice she can understand. Why fly when you can just portal everywhere? "We'll have to do it again. C'mon," she says waving to them to follow her, "The store is just up the street."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice trots along with the pair - her gaze going to the bags that Lydia so effortlessly floats along behind them - as they approach the shoe store. "So, umm, this is a store that you shop at often?" she asks. How often does Lydia really need to buy shoes? A few sturdy pairs of boots were usually all she needed. Maybe a pair of sandals here and there.
"Lorna also offered to take me flying sometime. I suppose she does something similar? I don't entirely understand it."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Settling back with two feet on the ground, Raven takes a slow breath and lets it out. "I haven't trusted anyone to so much as touch me for years, you think I'm going to let them take me flying... willingly?" Well that came out faster than she expected, just all kinds of too much information she normally wouldn't share.

Moving to follow she quickly latches onto the shoe topic, "You need a couple pairs of shoes to go with your new dresses, they have some really nice flats out there, so hopefully we can find you a pair. I still say you should try heels, but that's just me. You have the ass and hips for heels after all. I intend to get a pair for with my dresses, see about a pair of stiletto thigh high boots in leather, and perhaps something special like platform stiletto's for comedic value."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"Often?" Lydia repeats. "No, I've got a good set of shoes as it is, and this place is expensive. But if you're going to go all out, you need shoes to go with your dresses." She nods to Raven, "That makes sense. Thank you for trusting me enough to take you flying."

Once again she pulls the door open to let the pair of women go in first. The store itself is swanky, and kind of glitzy, a stark contrast to the more subdued dress shop that they had come from. But all the shoes on display have that rich, decadent feel to them. They have a wide variety to choose from too. Everything from sneakers to stilettoes are on display. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.
