Date of Scene: 23 July 2021
Location: Kenny Roger's Roasters
Synopsis: Lunch is had and plans are made.
Cast of Characters: Robert Marksman, Clarice Ferguson

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman called Clarice, and asked her to meet him for lunch he did give it a day after the whole incident the other night. He was not sure she would come but he did hope so. So, today he is standing in one corner of the waiting area, waiting for Clarice. HE tells the help, he is waiting for someone so they are not nervous about the thug looking fellow hanging out.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice does indeed arrive - dressed casually in jeans and a shirt, with her hair slightly damp from a recent shower. She's been spending long hours in the training room in the asteroid after she found herself staring down the barrel of that machine gun - determined to ensure she never faces another moment like that. So it's a sore and tired Clarice that greets Robert with a small smile of greeting. "Hey," she offers casually. "Sorry about the, umm, arguement... in your new flat. Mystique can be a bit..." Well, Mystique.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman looks to her, and shrugs a bit "She can see things the way she wants, I guess, I am glad, you don't feel the same way." He offers her a smile, and says "So, want to grab some chicken, and find a table. There food is pretty good, and figured is a change from the diner. Don't want it to get old ya know?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well. I spend a fair bit of time in Bushwick - but no one really gets old. Not when I can pop over for dinner just about anywhere," Clarice suggests with a wry smile. Usually, anyways. She lets out a sigh before adding, "And it's not even that I really disagree with her. It's just- I know the world's not a perfect place. As much as I wish every mutant would choose to come out - I know it's not going to happen. But the world would be a better place if it did."
She makes her way to the counter to place an order for chicken with coleslaw and potatoes, pulling out a credit card and handing it over as payment, as she glances over towards Robert to make his own order, as well. Once they both have food in hand she makes her way to one of the tables, sliding into the booth with her tray in front of her.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman will order a decent amount of food, not huge, but it looks like his metabolism maybe a bit enhanced. He seems to think about her words for a moment, considering if that means she considers him a coward. He will slide into the booth opposite of her, and says "So, you doing ok, anything interesting I should know?" He asks starting off with some small talk.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice picks up her fork, poking at her coleslaw for a moment as she considers her answer. There's always //so much// going on, and so little of it really qualifies as 'small talk.' "Oh, I don't know," she answers vaguely. "The Brotherhood's working with the X-Men to hopefully rescue some mutants in need. Hopefully I'll be more myself by the time we're ready for the mission. Until then - it's all training, and exercise. Working on being more capable without having to rely so much on my powers."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and nods a bit, eating a bit of his taters as she answers him. He nods a bit and says "Well if they need medical help let me know and I will help in any way I can. Speaking of training, there was something I wanted to ask you about train." He takes a bite of his chicken letting her speak.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well - we'll keep that in mind. But due to some of the legalities of the situation - the plan is to relocate them to Genosha after they're rescued - for their protection," Clarice remarks a bit vaugely. After all, she's not supposed to talk too much about the situation - lest it somehow get back to the group that an attack is coming. "They probably will need some help with their recovery, though," she agrees.
She nibbles at her food before adding, "What sort of training?" she asks.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman looks to her, and says "Well with part of our abilities, being similar, I thought if you were willing you could teach me to use my gateways more effectively. I mean I know dropping the goons in front of the police station was a good start but I feel like you would have done so much more.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well. One of my favorite tricks is to hit them with their own bullets," Clarice remarks in an amused tone, as she pulls off some of her chicken with her fork. "You open a portal in front of them just as they're about the fire - and angle the exit back at them so that it takes them out while protecting your own forces. And I don't know about how your portal's work - but if I snap a portal closed on an object - or a person - while they're only partway through it can sever them in two. Handy for destroying tools, weapons - or removing an appendage. That can take the fight out of someone pretty quickly."
Of course, she doesn't always limit herself to an appendage, but why spoil a perfectly good meal for the doctor?

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmmms and nods his head a bit and says "You know to be honest I have never tried closing mine on anything, Always figured that would happen, but never tested it. I had planned on opening a portal in front of the rocket launcher, but I did not think about sending it back at them.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well - the Brotherhood is trying to follow a strict 'no killing in Bushwick' rule. Part of our efforts to alter the public image we've created in the past - and the hatred and fear that's fomented against Mutant kind," Clarice remarks with an almost wry smile. "So dropping the rocket on them would have been a bad idea... in that case. Not sure what your range is - I probably would have sent it to space where it could do no real harm. And I would have limited the redirection of the bullets to trying to take their legs out - less likely to be fatal that way. You should test out if you can sever things though - with something simple. A stick." She gestures with her fork as she adds, "Disposable tableware. That sort of thing."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods his head a bit and says "I was just going to try to leave it in the darkness. It is something I did when my powers were first coming into being. " He admits to what he had planned. He sill pick up a knife he does not plan on using and opens a small portal that only goes a couple inches. He puts the knife in and then closest the portal, it does sever it, but is more a smashing than cutting it seems.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Hrm," Clarice remarks in a curious tone. "Seems they work differently. Mine cuts through neatly. Like the sharped blade you can imagine. That- I imagine that could inflict even more damage on a limb than mine does. Something to keep in mind, I guess."
She nibbles at her food before adding, "There's an... in between sort of place where you can leave things? My portals just seem to link the two places. Almost... to fold the space between them, so there is no separation."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "Yea, there is a place between mine. From what I understand it is the energy source, my other powers come from. I don't know if you noticed when I arrived I have a shell of blackness around me. It can stop most bullets from my tests of it. I can blast with it as well.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I can't do either of those things - I have to get creative with my portals. But - my portals can emit a distructive wave of energy when they arrive - if I'm not careful about it. The larger the portal, the more destructive they can be. I can sometimes put that to use, but more often I'm trying to control and limit it," Clarice remarks with a slightly frustrated sound. "Plus, I've been trying to figure out how to teleport drugs - particularly sedatives - directly into a person's body. But again the problem is the disruption wave the portal generates. I don't want to do damage inside their body... And figuring out how to practice it is a bit of a trick."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and nods his head a bit and says "Maybe syringes or darts like one would fire from a tranq gun? I mean you could position them to fall on the guy. Do you have to be at one end of your portals? Or could you say open a portal to the asteroid you mentioned and the other side, say across the street?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I don't have to be directly adjacent to the portals, no," Clarice answers. "But it's tricky if one of them isn't at least near me - at least in my sight. And helps when I have my javelins. I can charge them with the energy - the potential - to open the portal, and when it hits a target - blink." She gestures with one hand - her fingers going from pinched together - to flashing apart.
"It'd be handy if I could blink the drugs directly into them, though. Especially if someone is armored, or the like."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says "Do you know anyone with regeneration? I don't know if they would be willing to chance it, but would the best bet. I could possible do it, but it is more I can see where open spaces in the body are, and have studied how the body works.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I am not testing my portals out on Mister Creed," Clarice says immediately - and fiercely. Sure, it wouldn't kill him. But there's just something so //deeply wrong// about experimenting on someone she cares about so deeply, and doubtlessly causing him a great deal of pain. Clarice shakes her head at the notion. "I guess it doesn't matter. I'll figure it out."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman looks over and says "Oh, so Mr. Creed has regeneration? I did not know, I know it is a semi common power. The goal would be able to drop the drugs in without pain at all." He hmms and says "Maybe try portalling them inside tomatoes or mellons, something with a bit of a squishy interior that if you did to much damage to might burst.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"He does," Clarice confirms. "A rather powerful healing factor. He's rather long-lived, and doesn't even worry about getting shot, though I try to protect him from it anyways." She nibbles at another bit of her chicken. "He seems to think that he'll always be able to heal - no matter what happens." She worries that isn't quite true - but he's been alive how long now? And it's proven true so far.
"I have to admit - the healing factor seems rather handy."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "I would think it would, but I can't complain the energy has given me a nice array myself Best I have figured it has infused my body and allowed me to control it. The biggest physical change it made was my eyes, but I do have three different types of enhanced vision.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Enhanced vision? In what way?" Clarice asks - giving Robert a curious look. She continues nibbling at her food as she waits for his answer - half of her chicken and a good amount of her slaw gone now, though her potatoes seem to be getting less of her attention.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman looks to her, and says "Well, I have what is commonly known as X-ray vision, I can look through most things up to a couple inches. I can see through maybe an inch of steel, but more and it blocks me, that and led. So I believe it is a type of radiation doing it. I can see into the thermal range, and I can see distances. About 150-200 times farther than normal folks.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"It's strange that it affects your eyes, though," Clarice muses in a thoughtful tone. "I don't think my powers will ever develop into something like that or- ...or, well, quite frankly I think the Magistrates would have figured out how to trigger it when I was still their tool." She spears at her chicken with a little more force, a darker look on her features for a moment.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, a bit and says "I have thought it was either from the energy of the other dimension or maybe something that was part of the meteor. It seemed to kick a few genes into overdrive, and awoke the X-gene in my brother and I in different ways. He has more light based powers."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Meteor?" Clarice asks with bafflement. "What does a meteor have to do with anything? You were near one when it... struck? That's a rather rare occurance, isn't it?" she asks with curious puzzlement - trying to recall ever hearing aobut something like that happening. "I thought they usually... miss Earth. Or burn up. Or... what have you."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, a bit and says "It happened roughly 5 years ago, just over actually was 5 years earlier this month. My father, always took my brother and I on a yearly camping trip. Johnathan and I were not getting along at the time, being dicks to one another, and making the trip miserable. Was supposed to be a meteor shower, and freak accident one made it through the atmosphere. It was about the size of a basketball we believe when it impacted. It exploded and shot shards into all three of us. My dad did not make it, Johnathan and I barely did thanks to someone who saw the trail of it hitting. We were in the hospital for quite a while, and as we healed we started developing our powers. I was always a smart guy and interested in science, so I got some help from some scientists, not explaining it was mine and my brothers blood we were looking at. It seems the radiation in the meteor was absorbed by out body, and triggered the x-gen in us, which was dormant. To our best guess it would have been 3 or 4 more generations before the x-gen became prominent in out family line.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Well... I'm sorry about your father," Clarice says quietly, and a bit awkwardly. After all, the subject of parents was never an easy one for her. "I'm glad you got help, though. That you and your brother're both alright." She nibbles at little off the potatoes now, before sprinkling a little extra salt on top. They're a bit bland.
"I've never really understood how all this x-gene stuff works. How they get 'triggered' and all that. It's a bit strange."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "Well normally when they are ready it is a natural thing, but it does seem some radiations and such can bring them out earlier." He pulls some chicken off to munch it . "The time in the hospital is what brought me to wanting to be a doctor."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Both of my parents looked perfectly normal - and yet... here I am," Clarice remarks, nibbling at more of her food. "I'm not entirely sure if I would have developed my portal abilities or not without the interference of the Magistrates. Certainly it wouldn't have started working at such an early age." Her smile is tight and wry as she adds, "Never really prompted any interest in the sciences for me, though."
    No real shocker, there.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods his head and says "I would wager the doctors and nurses were a lot nicer than the Magistrates." He offers her a smile and says "So, maybe as I teach you about off time, you can teach me on power use."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Maybe," Clarice agrees, nodding her head to that. "I'm sure you could head up to the Asteroid with me at some point - as well. It's a good place for practicing power use. Our training room is pretty remarkable - with the latest tech. Not all of it Earth-based tech, I think," she explains. "I'm not sure how they get access to all of it but- well. They manage somehow."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says "That would be cool might spend the first hour or so geeking out over being in space, but I am sure I would get past it to see all the other cool stuff.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I'm very fond of our cafeteria and bar," Clarice remarks with some amusement. "Especially the waffle station in the cafeteria - it always has fresh fruit and whipped cream." Who doesn't like fresh, hot waffles whenever you like - 24/7?
She finishes off the last of her meal - setting down her disposable silverware before she adds, "Anyways - I'll be sure to take you up there once my powers are back. It should be soon now, I think."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "Well I am looking forward to it. I got a shift at the clinic here in a while, but glad you could have lunch with me." He offers her a smile and says "Maybe we can get together later or tomorrow, and go out and do something together."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Sure," Clarice agrees - standing up and taking her tray and put it on top of one of the garbage cans. "We'll do that. I hope you'll have a good shift. And really - don't pay too much attention to everything Mystique said. She gets very passionate, especially after- well. I almost got killed. I honestly think that affects her just as much as it does me."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "I am glad I saw the golem getting in front of you, it moved faster than I could that is something else I might need to work on my reaction times.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I'd tried to blink away - to no avail, obviously. Ruined my own chance to react. Thank goodness for the golem. Anyways - I'd better head back up," Clarice remarks with a slightly tight smile.
"I'll talk to you later, Robert," she promises - heading for the door and pulling out her phone as she walks.
