Date of Scene: 28 July 2021
Location: Earth, Sol
Synopsis: Phyla-Vell arrives on Earth and is found by Ava and Finley, seeking out her strange quantum signature. May be she can help save Ava before it's too late. Phyla though, is looking for her mother Mar-Vell. She'll be surprised whens he meets Captain Marvel that's for sure.
Cast of Characters: Phyla-Vell, Finley Ellison, Ava Starr, Vance Astro

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Earth is still in its infancy when it comes to space. There are very few ships on the planet capable of faster than light travel and fewer still of those actually made by humans. Their biggest step without the help of aliens was SWORD's The Peak, a space station designed for monitoring hyperspace; and their biggest step with the help of aliens was The Watchtower on the Moon made by and run by the Justice League.

But even listening stations and satellites whistle with excitement at the strange object flying rapidly toward Earth. It contains cosmic energy much like Captain Marvel, but also quantum energy in a form unseen before by Earth scientists. What it is that's coming their way has had people on the phones the world over.

But in particular, one scientist trying to help a victim of HYDRA, Finley Ellison, has detected for the first time a source coming directly for Earth of quantum energy that may just be able to help Ava Starr.

It's estimated point of touch down? An empty field somewhere near Delaware.

Finley Ellison has posed:
Despite all of her laborious searching, when the signal first appeared Finley thought it was a fluke -- a ghost in the untested machine. But she'd run the analysis again and again and triple checked her findings. And then she'd told Ava, "We need to go to Delaware."

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava's ability to scan for quantum signatures, before Finley's arrival, has been limited. She *can* sense quantum energy fields when they're in close proximity to her, especially when she's running particularly low on energy. But otherwise? No better than anyone else.

However, over the weeks since she was 'rescued' by SHIELD, she's learned to trust the young engineer. Thus, when Finley says they need to go to Delaware, she puts on her Ghost suit, finds them a car, and off they go. She drives, but she has Finley play navigator -- it's her sensors, after all, that detected this thing.

As they get closer to the field, however, the tingle of that quantum energy becomes somewhat more apparent to her. Her eyes narrow slightly as she turns onto the rough road leading toward the epicenter of that reading...

Phyla-Vell has posed:
A shooting star on the horizon lights up the night sky. A brilliant white but for Ava's senses, a brilliant cacophony of quantum energy. It hits down in a corn field not far from the car.

Phyla-Vell, glowing brightly, pauses to look around the place. Her cosmic energy swirls around her slicing through the corn in ornate patterns that no doubt someone will call a crop circle.

Her short white hair whips up in the wind as the corn rustles. She holds up her Quantum-Band bracers and sweeps the area. In Kree, she speaks "Now where are you hiding Mar-Vell. When I need you most you disappear." Primarily to herself, the glow around her body fades.

The intense light amidst the corn disappears, winked out of existence. Left behind is a woman wearing a tight fitting red body suit with golden stars upon it, one over the right of her chest and shoulder. Hanging from her back, a black cloak. She could pass for human with her pale skin tones.

Finley Ellison has posed:
"Oooooookay, Finley whispers to Ava. "I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that." She blinks several times to clear the afterglow burned on her retinas. "Um. What is happening?"

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava turns her face away as the light grows. But that doesn't stop the dazzle to her quantum awareness. That brings a wince to her face. "I dunno," she replies. "But we need to find out just who that is. She... feels like she's made of quantum energy." Not entirely true. But Ava doesn't know how else to explain it.

She turns her body and simply steps out of the car, phasing through it as if it weren't there. She pulls up her hood, peering at the figure in the midst of the corn. "Fancy," she says dryly as to the crop circle that's appeared. "Yeah, that's not gonna attract any attention."

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla's eyes turn to the vehicle that has stopped. A response so quickly, perhaps this planet can monitor better than she thought. Everyone keeps telling her Earth is not what it seems. She's starting to have her suspicions they may be right.

The two humans that approach her, one phasing through a solid door. She raises an eyebrow at that. The language tingles in her ears a moment before her quantum bands let out a small *womf* of energy and the language is detected. "American English," she says in return.

"Please do not be alarmed. My name is Phyla-Vell and I am not a god." It's not at all surprising how often she's had to say that to a native population on a pre-warp planet. "I am here searching for ...a member of my family. Her name is Mar-Vell. I mean you no harm and once I have found her I will leave your planet in peace."

She holds out her hands to show that she is unarmed, though that is obviously a bit of a falsehood. Now she gets to find out just what kind of people she's going to have to deal with. The 'attack on sight' kind of people or the 'worship at your feet' kind of people.. or, she hopes, the 'cool, a visitor' kind of people.

Finley Ellison has posed:
Finley swallows her laughter when the glowing woman before her proclaims herself to be no god. The thought that she might be hadn't even occurred to Finley. "The quantum energy signature," She asks the alien woman, "is that coming from you or your ship?"

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava arches a brow at the whole 'not a god thing'. "Mar-Vell. Can't say I've heard of her." She shrugs. "I mean, there's Captain Marvel--" totally different pronunciation, that, especially with her clearly British accent, "--but she's back in New York, I'm guessing."

Really, Finley's asked the important question. "Yeah, we're just here 'cause you set off a giant quantum flare we're kind of interested in..."

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Ah yes. The ship. Where is it? Did she really come here through space without one? Phyla tilts her head slightly at the choice of words Finley uses. Earth knows about quantum energy? this place continues to surprise her and she only just got here.

"From these," she says and touches her two quantum bands, golden gauntlets, about her forearms. "They are called the Q-Bands. I don't have a ship of my own. I got separated from the crew I was flying with but they'll land on this planet soon enough. They've been here before - but I have not."

Her interest piques at the mention of Captain Marvel. It could just be a coincidence. Languages can be like that. "I see. You came here because of my energy signature. What were you hoping to find exactly?"

She is starting to think these two might not be here for good reasons. Without names and seeking her quantum energy, a small warning bell is beginning to ring in your head, "Would you please tell me more about Captain Marvel?"

Finley Ellison has posed:
"Honestly?" Finley says, "The source. Of the energy signature. Ava here," and she gestures to the woman next to her, "has a substantial problem. As you might have noticed."

The scientist glances over to Ava. It's her situation to explain, really. And she's been kinda touchy about who gets to know what.

"Sooooo, you just travel through space with fancy bracelets? How does that work exactly?"

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava shrugs. Neither she nor Finley are making aggressive moves here. Which, yes, for Ava, is somewhat unusual. But... she's been trying to play nice with Finley. Thus, she's controlling her frustration. For the moment. "Captain Marvel. Powerhouse Avenger. Flies. Uses energy. Tends not to die easily. Can't say I've met the woman."

She does, however, expect SWORD will have people enroute here, even if SHIELD can't. She also fully believes HYDRA will be coming, too, since she's not heard about Hale's recent change in fortune. "Don't really think this is the best place to linger for a chat, Fin," she says to the scientist. "If we read the signature, you know others did, too."

She doesn't immediately follow-up on Fin's prompt about her 'substantial problem'. She's still trying to decide if the... alien?... is actually going to be helpful or not.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
The revelation of names seems to put Phyla-Vell at more ease. She nods to Ava and then Fin, "Ava. Fin. It's a pleasure to meet you." And the first smile from her since she landed. The subtleties of the chosen words make her tilt her chin up a little.

"I don't want to get involved in local politics. If you're in trouble from warring parties then I'd prefer to avoid getting in the middle of it. But if someone attempts violence I will protect you." A kind smile from the stranger. She places her hand over her right chest somewhat like a salute.

"A problem that needs quantum energy? May be I can help." And then to Fin she adds with a wry little smile, "And I can also explain how space travel works. I can't guarantee there'll be enough words in your language to adequately detail it all though."

Finley Ellison has posed:
Right Finley, be polite to the space traveller. Your mother would be so disappointed if she knew. Of course, she can't know, not really, but still, be polite.

"Cool," Finley says, offering Phyla-Vell a thumbs up. "Yeah, who knows when someone else will pick up your signal? It's fairly...unique."

She glances over at Ava, "We could use some help, *couldn't we*?"

Vance Astro has posed:
So, as Vance is unaffiliated with any group like SHIELD or HYDRA or the Avengers. I mean sure, he's the team leader for the Guardians of the Galaxy. Just not the Guardians in this time period. He's from the 31st century, and yet -also- from the 20th. It's complicated.

Either way, he is curious. He's dealt with space a -lot- in his thousand years. In fact, for a while he worked for NASA. And was the first human to -officially- leave our solar system. But things have gone awry, and he ended up precisely one thousand years in the past from his own time.

But he was investigating something he saw from a distance. Something he hoped might lead him to learning something about anyone who might enable him to contribute in a way that -he- is trained for.

"Well. This is something you don't see every day." he says as he stands up and reveals himself.

Ava Starr has posed:
The look Ava gives Finley is telling. For just a moment, she finds it hard to believe the SHIELD agent has, in fact, actually got all her certs. They're trusting the alien, now? She lets out a heavy breath in irritation, but then nevertheless inhales a breath to reply... just as Astro reveals himself.

Almost instantly, the quantum energy fields around Ava flicker and she shifts from intangible to invisible and back again. Her lips press together in a tight wince, eyes narrowing as she stabilizes herself. And just barely restrains herself from swearing.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla-Vell nods her head, "Then it's settled. I'll help you and you can explain to me what an Avenger, a New York, A Powerhouse, etc is. Because if this Captain Marvel flies and 'uses energy' then may be she is the one I'm looking for."

    Mother.

Just as Finley discusses others picking up her signal. There is Vance. Her left Q-band suddenly pops up a holographic display, a graph of sorts, the moment Ava fades out of visibility and then back again. There's a slightly concerned look as Phyla focuses her vision from the display, through it, to Ava.

"I see," she says and furrows her eyebrows. Clearly this is something she doesn't want to talk about in the open. She turns to look at Vance Astro and smiles, "Greetings. My name is Phyla-Vell. Please don't be alarmed I mean you no harm."

Finley Ellison has posed:
"I'd definitely love to get a look at those sometime," Finley says. Space travel and holo-displays...what else can those bracers...eep!

When Astro reveals himself, Finley actually flinches. Apparently even with all the time she's spent around Ava, she hasn't gotten used to a disappearing-reappearing act. "Oh, good. Company," she says under her breath.

Vance Astro has posed:
Eyes going wide, Vance stares at Phyla. "The Seeker.." he mutters before he shakes his head, "Those are the Quantum Bands. Weapons wielded by the Protector of the Universe. I am humbled." he says as he steps forward, bowing his head, "Not sure if you guys realize it, but you are in the presence of one of the most important heroes in the entire universe."

That said, he grins and offers a hand, "Any chance that I might be allowed to shake your hand Ms. Vell?"

Ava Starr has posed:
"Oh, bloody hell!" Ava snaps as the newcomer goes all gaga over the alien woman. She glances to Finley and lets out a chuff of frustrated air. "How is this supposed to help?" She rakes a hand through the tight braids of her hair and then shakes it out.

It's fairly clear the woman is becoming agitated now. Patience has never been her strong suit. And the fact she momentarily lost control of her abilities has shaken her more than she cares to admit. Especially since she's wearing the Ghost suit. It's supposed to help with that sort of thing.

All of which means her problem is growing.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla-Vell isn't quite sure what to make of Vance. She does a quick scan of him and raises an eyebrow as a different graph appears on her right bracer. "You're quite out of time aren't you," she says and offers her hand to him. "I'd ask how someone on Earth knows about the Protector of the Universe, but by my projections you've bounced your way back 1,000 years. You're not looking for help getting home are you? I'm afraid I don't know how to do that... what is your name?"

She shakes her head to Finley and says, "I'm sorry Fin. The bracers won't come off of me until I die. Which I hope will be a very long time from now. I'd be happy tell you about them though. Perhaps once we've looked at Ava's problem first. Hers seems most pressing."

Phyla makes a quick decision, "Finding Mar-Vell can wait. She's hidden on Earth for years, what's a little time longer going to do." They must be really desperate to be chasing quantum energy signatures around the planet.

Finley Ellison has posed:
Finley whispers to Ava, "We *need* her help. The bracers are the source of the quantum energy signature I've been searching for. And she comes with them. I bet she knows useful things too. Besides, if it's a bad call, you can just walk through whatever situation we're in. So..."

She glances up at Phyla-Vell. "Hero of the universe, huh?" she says, echoing Vance's declaration. "Neat. And yeah I'd love to know all about them. Whatever you can tell me. Maybe when we're not standing a field? At this point I would be surprised if some kid shows up w looking for meteorite fragments to make a star-sword or something." She flashes everyone a nervous grin. "Haha. Joke."

Vance Astro has posed:
"Well, those really -are the quantum bands then." says Vance as he shakes his head. "I would welcome the chance to go home. But it was something of a perfect storm of quantum entanglement that sent me here... at least I think it was. Unlike other times, this was time travel against my will. I keep wondering if I am in an alternate timeline or the same. I am thinking alternate as... the me in this time period isn't the me I was previously." He smirks at that, almost like he made a joke.

Then he inclines his head, "She?" he asks, "This definitely is not my timeline. In mine, Mar-Vell was a man. And his daughter.." a pause... "He died, and his daughter was named..." Another pause, "Oh wow. His daughter was Phyla-Vell...."

And he glances to Finley, "Protector... of the universe." he corrects.

Ava Starr has posed:
Time travel. Space travel. Quantum entanglement. Ava groans as Finley does her best to rein her in. She looks at the pair of strangers. "Fine," she sighs, looking at Phyla-Vell. Unlike the others, she apparently doesn't impress easily. (Or, more accurately, she doesn't have the right focus to be impressed.) "You want to come to New York? Hunt down Captain Marvel? Fine. That's where... our lab is, anyway. If you can help... I'll give you the address to the Avengers Mansion and you can try your luck there." She thumbs toward Finley. "Or she can contact her friends at SHIELD and they can tell her you're looking for her. Good?"

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla stares for a moment at Vance and then laughs, "Not just time travel but an alternate reality. Wow, you are very far from home. My mother, .. as my father. Now that would be quite the sight." She smirks and says, "I'll tell her that when I catch up with her. She'll be amused too."

She nods to Fin and then looks at her vehicle. With a tug of her cloak she pulls it around her arms and says, "I'll try my best to blend in if you would like to go some place less here."

Vance too now, she's starting to get the impression that on this planet, no one offers their name upon meeting. She nods to Vance and says, "Well stranger. These people need my help, but if you want to talk again - I will be meeting up with my crew, the Guardians of the Galaxy. They will be landing near a place called Titans Tower. Very apt I think, given I am half Titan. Meet me there and we will chat." She snrks at a joke she expects only she'll get.

She nods to Ava and says, "Yes. I think we have little time to waste." The holograms from her Q-bands disappear and she says, "Thank you for the potential leads too. I appreciate it. Earth is a big world. Let's go."

Vance Astro has posed:
"Oh, forgive me. So sorry. I was dumbstruck at meeting the Protector of the Universe, -and- the daughter of Mar-Vell." suggests Vance with an awkward laugh. "I am Vance. I had a codename on my team in the future. But I think it'd sound corny now. I was team leader for the Guar... wait, there are Guardians of the Galaxy in this time? Whoa, another change." He cringes and adds, "My teammates gave me the moniker.. Major Victory, after I recovered the shield." he adds.

"But please, I would be happy to help you Quasar, in any way I Can." he adds as he begins moving along with.

Finley Ellison has posed:
"Uh yeah. The only people in an empty field is a little conspicuous," Finley says with another nervous laugh. She starts to usher people towards the car, giving Ava a wide eyed look. This has all gotten out of hand.

"Ava, where do you think we should take her, or them? I only know one place around here and I'm not sure anyone would be super stoked about me bringing people there...And you didn't like it much either. Or are we just gonna road trip between New York and Delaware this week?" Finley almost whines through her smiling clenched teeth.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava snirks openly at the name 'Major Victory'. She does, however, refrain from commenting on it. Instead, she chuffs another half-growl and gestures toward the SUV. "New York," she tells Finley. Her voice drops some. "We'll take them back to New York. Do you *really* want to turn her over to SHIELD? We'll never get anywhere if that happens." She *hates* the idea of letting strangers into her warehouse, her home. But it really is the best option she can think of.

Besides, if these two are as goody-goody as they appear... it's probably a safe enough risk. It's not like she's a supervillain or anything. Technically, she's still with SHIELD. Unless Carter cancelled her credentials. Which, yeah. That's possible.

Nevermind. Still the best choice.

She tosses Finley the keys. "You get to drive." Which also tells Finley how 'off' Ava is feeling.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
"Major Victory? With team mates like that who needs enemies," she quips playfully and smiles. "And please, it's just a job title and an obligation. Judge me by my actions not by who you think I might be." She's no saint sometimes, not when it comes to her Moondragon. Not when it comes to Thanos.

"I'll call you Vance if you call me Phyla. Deal?," she says as she plants her butt in to the back seat of the SUV. She looks over the vehicle and peers a moment, "How does this vehicle work?" A hologram pops up on her wrist and she stares, "Micro-explosions creating linear movement translated in to angular momentum. Whoa. That's wild."

"Ava, Fin, thank you for your hospitality. Finding your way around a new planet is a confusing task."

Finley Ellison has posed:
Finley catches the keys. And doesn't even drop them. "Everybody, pile in," she says, "We're goin to the Big Apple."
