The Pros and Cons of Cohabitting
Date of Scene:	23 March 2020
Location:	Many Apartments in NYC
Synopsis:	Sam and Allegra explore housing options, and the ins and outs of their intra-relational issues. Allegra finally admits she is a mutant, and Sam freely expresses worry that her father will hurt her -- and Sam Guthrie isn't the type to take a threat like that laying down.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "This is a medium bad idea, Sam, somewhere between 'picnic on the rooftop' and 'spying in the gala.'" Allegra has whispered from Sam's Subaru. Her hair was pulled back and tucked under a hat again, she wore big sunglasses and had purposefully done her makeup differently from usual, intent on not being recognized. She had given a slight scowl as they pulled up to the first block of apartment buildings, wrapping her arms around herself in nervousness.

    Playing complicated violin pieces? No problem.

    Apartment hunting? Nope. Problem.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks over to her, and says "You know your not the first person to tell me that." He offers her a smile and will take her hand in his. He leads her into get the keys to look at the apartment and once they are alone looking at it "I am more concerned with your safety, and I think the rooftop was a very good idea."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "It's bad that we now grade your ideas like steaks." Allegra states mutters quietly, and she exhales and she rubs the back of her head and looks at him.

    "So, what's this one look like?" she questions quietly, rubbing the back of her head.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will put an arm around her "Two bedrooms, decent kitchen, nice sized living room, Ah was thinking we could do either our own bedrooms, or share one and make the other a music room where you could get time alone to practice if you wanted it." He will tell her touring the place with her.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "... I would have to get dampeners for the sound. Opera singers kinda get loud." she whispers quietly.

    "... and I figured one bedroom would probably be enough... at this point... if you're good."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will kiss her and says "I thought so too, but wanted to give you the option. " He smiles a bit and says "And from here you can get to a few different places, where you can play." He takes her hands and says "There will be hard times hon, your dad, may make it hard for you to get work with some of the bigger fancier places, but is where your preforming or preforming the main concern?

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Kind of you to do so" the girl laughs, and Allegra holds her hands out to Sam a sshe curls her fingers against him.

    And then she frown a moment, and she gives a shrug.

    "I... could always teach. Private acadimies. Private lessons. Maybe even online." she replies quietly. "But... really it depends a little bit on my dad... and my mom... and my grandparents..." he trails off.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will look at her, and says "Ok, how tell me how it depends on each of them?" He looks into her eyes and says "Come sit with me." He takes her into the smaller bedroom, and says "Lets talk this out here, you and I being honest with one another?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "... well. My father is just one of the peopple in my life, Sam. My mother is an opera singer who works in London now. My grandmother is Dame Mildred Fiore. My grandparents on my father's side run a massive olive grove and winery in Abruzzi." Allegra gives a little a small smile, and rubs the back of her neck.

    "If I said I wante dto get my own apartment and 'find myself a man', my nona would probably just send me money to produce babies for her to hold."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie chuckles and says "And my Ma probably start getting us crotheted items." He grins a bit and says "Your dad may try to cause trouble, you tell him your starting your own life, do you expect so?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I expect that to be so. I'm his meal ticket. People won't come to see him dance, but they pay to see me play." she replies quietly, and she leans against the wall. "Even now he's making appointments. Hair. Nails. Teeth, for my health and benefit. I have had to trust him my whole life... but now I do not know if I want to continue that life, with him... to find someone he approves of and marry and perform and lie my entire life as Allegra... or to be Alexis."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks to her, and says "I want you to be you, the person here." He touches her chest, and says "You can be Allegra, and be yourself, you just have to be willing to embrace yourself, admit the hard things."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I think we did quite enough admitting of hard things a few nights ago." Allegra comments smartly, "I'm still a little sore!"

    BUt she gives a soft 'heeeh' sound, and pouts her lips.

    "My father has horrible taste in men anyway. Other than Sanjeev."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods, a bit to this and says "Well, would you like to move in here, we can have everything ready and be in tonight if you want." He kisses her again "And maybe try to work that soreness out.'

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Sam..." she whispers, drawing back. "I can't... n-not like that. I Mean we still have things to buy. Painters. A blesi--" she pauses a moment, and side-eyes to Sam as she wince. ".. so speaking of blessings -- don't suppose you're Catholic, judging by the other night."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Southern Baptist, but some of my best friends are Catholic if that helps." He will says "I know someone who actually was training to be a priest but did not finish his training, he could bless the house maybe if that works."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "More of an Italian Blessing, where your whole family comes over to toast and pray that your home will be happy. Maybe it's something my grandfather made up as an excuse to crash my parents' home in Boston and again when my father moved to New York." she gives a smile, and splays her fingers out "And Nona goes to the markets and argues in Italian with all the other old Italian ladies and somehow more people show up than you even know, because she made friends, and everyone brings food with them and the table is bending under the weight of pasta and seafood and all the ridiculous things my grandparents cook, and Papa takes out his violin and plays and sings Italian folk songs to the wee bambinos and everyone eats and drinks and talks--" she grins.

    "My mother's mother is quite a bit quieter than my Italian grandparents."

Sam Guthrie grins a bit to this and says "They sound like good people Ah think ah would enjoy meeting them." He will admit. "There is some other places, I have looked at, one is up near westchester, it is closer to where I work for delivering pizzas." He admits. "Got another question for you, since we know ya dad is going to be a bit of an issue, do you want him to know where your living?

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I... I don't know. There's a lot of unknowns in this, Sam." Allegra admits. "Maybe I'm taking this too quickly. Maybe I need to slow down and actually, objectiviely look at the situation.. or ask Sanjeev about things." she winces a moment. "... he probably would approve of my moving, but sternly disapprove of Westchester... that's a good while out. So, you deliver pizzas... iiiin Westchester."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods, and says "Yea, thats my main job, Ah can do it and make the bills, but have time to go off and help people if Ah need to. It is why the car smells of pizza, Ah try to air it out before Ah pick you up though." He admits. "We can take this place if you like, Ah can get to westchester, salem center area pretty easily." He admits. "Tell me what you think and will help ya talk through it if I can.

    "Is... all this urgency because you /suspect/ me of being a mutant, Sam?" Allegra asks as she turns, and looks at the blond tall lad. Her fingers curl against her knees slightly as they sit in the largely empty apartment.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks to her, and says "Part of it yes hon, but it is not cause your a mutant, it is more worry what happens if your father finds out about it or even suspects it.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "You're not even sure I am!" Allegra protests as she laughs, rubbing the back of her neck. "You have that lady's supposition and that's it. Maybe she was just trying to start trouble."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Not a ladies thought my own from what I saw hon." He reaches up and gently strokes her cheek "I have seen parents who did bad things to their kids, who were not even vocally anti mutant before their kid changed hon." He looks to her, and says "I can show you a bit but will warn ya is a bit of a sad trip, not normal but does hit ya in the feels.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Sam, you saw what happened. My father's a blusterer, but he lets others do his work for him." Allegra states, "He'll yell and make a scene but when it comes down to hurting anyone.. I don't think he could." she states quietly, but she draws one leg up. "And that's provided that you're right about me being a fr-.. mutant."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks to her and says "Ok, can I say some hard stuff, and you know I am not trying to hurt you but I want to make sure you think about it?

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Is this the so-called 'Come to Jesus' moment?" Allegra questions, drawing her other leg up and wrapping her arms around them.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will move to sit beside her, and says "How much of what you have learned about your dad since say six months before your mom and he divorced, would you have said he would never do then?" He rubs her back, and says "Tell me what you honestly think he thinks about what happened in genosha?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    Allegra pauses at that last question, and she whispers quietly:

    "... he was glad they died. Mutant and their human slaves. He was glad Magneto was killed, because... it was supposed to make the world safer. It was supposed to make /us/ safer." she admit in a whisper, drawing her legs up a little bit as she leans her head forward.

    "And... that's when I knew I couldn't tell him that I played for mutants. That I funneled shopping money to the shelter in Mutant Town... that I... that... I..." she trembles, and tears slip down her cheeks.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthriewraps his arms around her and holds her to him, and says "And thats why Ah am scared for you." He holds her "Ah understand things are going faster than it normally would and part of that is cause of concern for your safety. Ah also know that is feels right when Ah am around you. Has your dad found out about you giving the speech yet?"

    Allegra shakes her head as she breaks down, stres mounting on her shoulders, making them draw up and tighten. "No. I don't think so. He hwasn't mentioned it. It would have been a field day for anti- Pro-HUMANA writers, and I... I jut couldn't... it was stupid of me. So very stupid. I can't escape what he has made me Sam. There's not going to be anywhere I'm safe from him."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will gently pull her to his lap, and says "It will be tough hon, Ah aint gonna lie to you, but you can do it, and the sooner you do it the better. You have to make your future for yourself, and Ah will be there to offer you a hand when you need it, but Ah can't do it for ya no matter how much Ah want to. You will probably have grief from that side for a long time, from this side some but Ah believe they will be more understanding and more forgiving with time.

    Allegra shakes her head a moment, and she raises her hands up and over her head, as if trying to keep all of her thoughts in, her elbows obscuring her face.

    "What then, Sam? What do I become? That which I hate, or that which I will hate? And for what, the fleetest beating of a young heart through a night of passion for a lifetime of doubt and now I'm just waxing depressive-romantic instead of hopeful-idealist." she takes a deep breath, "I am not a wilting Ophelia. I am a Lysandra."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Looks to her, and says "You become a person your proud to be, you speak up for what you believe in. You show people your talents, and tell them that even if they judge you, it does not matter as your being true to your heart. We all have worry about our next move, we don't know if it will be right or wrong but that is part of your making decisions for yourself, and not letting others choose it."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Odd, all the decisions I've ever made for myself end up me getting fucked over. At least in one case it was the good kind." Allegra replies with ome measure of frustration, and looks around.

    "I don't think thi will be the right place. It's still small."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie smiles a bit at the good kind comment, and leans in and kisses her softly "Ok, to the next place then?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Onto the next place." Allegra confirms, and goes to hop to a stand, putting her hands in her pockets.

    "... so, when did you start /suspecting/ I might be a mutant, out of curiosity?"

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks to her, and stands up, and says "Well, you wanting to help us with your dad's back ground did seem odd, but it was the candles at the party, and the way they pulsed then how you reacted to it." He will tell her as they head out dropping off the key to head to the next place.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "... I figured I had lost control there." Allegra states quietly, and she breathes out in a soft huff.

    "so...." Allegra state quietly. "You're right. Pyrokenetic."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie smiles and says "I thought so." He will ask her "Can you create fire or just control it? Does fire hurt you?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Ah... yes, no, I don't know but I don't think so." Allegra states quietly as they walk through the hall. "I once accidentally caught my dress on fire, then burned out a shed. So I don't... I try to forget it's even a thing."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods, and says "Do you want to learn to control it more?' He asks her checking her reactions as he heads for a larger place still in new york. "I can help you with that too.'

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "... I had wished there was somewhere I could go that would help me when I was younger. I was so scared of hurting someone -- that's... why most people see me as alloof. I just... wanted to be left alone. Very Elsa of me." she offers as a little joke, clipping herself into the subaru.

    "You jut about have the biggest heart, don't you?"

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie smiles and says "There were people who helped me, and it is the right thing to do." He tells her "My heart is the part that makes me want to hold ya and kiss ya, helping ya well, that would be even if Ah did not like ya alot." He grins over a bit, as he pulls into a parking spot "So your buddy Seenja know?" He may get the name wrong but he tries

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Sanjeev... and no. I was... I was considering telling him, but considering his father's stance... there's a reason why he stood with me against Power-Girl. He might not be to the same extreme... but he doesn't feel like those with powers take enough responsibility for them."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthriehmms and nods his head a bit to this "Some don't some, can't. One of the problems some folks have specially a lot of young mutants is they get these powers and no instruction books. Something starts going wrong, they freak out and it gets worse, just feeds on itself. I will admit I took out a few walls, and trees learning to just turn.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    Allegra settles back in the car "So... if it got out that I was a mutant, that I had these powers... I would lose everything. My family. My best friend. Just... everything I had ever known." she states quietly. "And all I know in life is my father's work, and my music."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks over to her, and says "Well you would still be able to play it would probably change where you could play. The Money yea, pretty sure your dad would cut ya out, not sure about the rest of the family, that grandma and grandpa seem to take family serious. Sanjeev, I don't know specially if you told him your trying to learn how to use your powers responsibly.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I don't know. Like I said, there's... there's a lot of unknowns." Allegra gives a wry grin. "My grandparents are, as you might say, 'a hoot'. They're too old to care about social standards, and can out dance -- and out drink -- some of the younger kids in their village."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie smiles a bit to this and says "Yea, gotta meet them. You notice the thing you said about the work you know?

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "My father's work. It was never mine." Allegra replies, and she draws herself up a little bit, looking out the window. "My job was to perform, to learn, and one day perhaps take over if he decided to retire, but my heart was in the music -- never the politics, Sam."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "Maybe now is the time you can start working on your music? Make this time yours. If your not ready to come out publicly as a mutant Ah can understand, but to be honest if we are getting our own place and your willing to do this I suggest you do tell ya dad, preferable somewhere semi public. Someplace others would not hear, but where he would not do something dumb.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Dumb, like, interfere with a massive gala event, begin dating a known enemy's daughter, or bring /the/ most indecisive girlfriend ever to do househunting?" Allegra points out, "... aabooout a week into their secret relationship -- oh god we /are/ Romeo and Julietting this. This is bad."

Sam Guthrie shakes his head, and says "We are both adults.. now." He grins and knows her birthday was recent. "And pretty sure my mom will love you, as long as your last name aint Cabbot.

    "... hold on, is this a Hatfield and McCoy type of issue, because I've seen that one!" Allegra comments, almost excitedly.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods and says "Pretty damn close, but more fist fights than shotguns.. most of the time."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Huh." Allegra commented, and she leans back. "I would say that we're far more civilised over where I grew up as a wee tot, but I knew plenty of Scottish families who were that way as well.. and that was when they were on friendly terms."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "I know a few good scotts, and one that is still over there that is a true sum bitch." Yea his accent gets strong when he curses."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "Such language." Allegra teases, looking over at Sam with amusement.

Sam Guthrie looks to her, and says "Type of fellow, Ah would like to fly towards a cliff and let go of the last minute." He hmms and says "To be honest might have something to do with my protectiveness for you from ya pa."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    That I can understand. And I was joking about the language --" Allegra gives a wry grin, and she shrugs her shoulders, "I did just a little while ago describe the universe's twist of fate and what we did on the rooftop in the profane vernacular."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Guy had a girl Ah consider a sister convinced she was of the devil, because she is a mutant, and lead the village they lived in out to kill her. Luckily a friend of a friend found her and took her in."

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "... my god... the poor girl." Allegra whispers, and then feels an intense amount of guilt wash over her, and she curls her fingers against her thighs a moment. She could just as easily been that girl. "Hateful people rarely change this world for the better."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and says "So ya see why I want to watch after ya hon?" He will ask her.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I understood the first time, Sam. You... think I don't know? About the teens that have scars from their parents? The homeless lads who can't find a warm place to sleepp? What do you think I do in mutant town?" she states quietly. "I try. And I have balanced the two lives I lead on a knife so thin that meeting you has been both the best and worst things for Alexis and Allegra."

Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Speaking of which what should I call you besides lover?"

Alexis Carr has posed:
    "I don't know yet who I want to be when this is over, but I... really do respond to either one." Allegra admits, rubbing the back of her neck. "I suppose it depends on if this world can accept a disgraced Pro-HUMANA performer in pennance, or if I should just start all over again.
