...It Pours (Part II)
Date of Scene: 03 August 2021
Location: The Quantum Club Warehouse, NY
Synopsis: Phyla-Vell is introduced to Captain Marvel. It is there she learns that her mother, Mar-Vell, not only was dead, but loved Carol Danvers enough to sacrifice herself to save the half-human half-Kree stranger. Their familial cosmic energy bond results in hard truths and hugs, followed by a plea to help take out Thanos once and for all. The course is set.
Cast of Characters: Ava Starr, Carol Danvers, Phyla-Vell

Ava Starr has posed:
The trip across town really wouldn't have taken Carol long on her own. She can fly, after all. Ava, on the other hand, lacks that particular advantage. She has a fast bike, and does occasionally turn it intangible so she can take 'shortcuts' other drivers might find more than a little unnerving. But she doesn't want to confuse Carol. So, she plays it mostly straight all the way out to Hell's Kitchen.

She did call ahead, to let the trio at the warehouse know she was coming, and that she was bringing company. When she pulls into the lot outside the warehouse, she takes care to tuck her bike around behind the loading docks where a covered garage of sorts conceals its presence. The warehouse looks rundown and abandoned. Looks can be deceiving, however, since an astute eye will notice that the surveillance system is much more sophisticated than it should be, albiet artfully disguised, and the apparent disrepair of the facility is entirely cosmetic.

Ghost waits for Captain Marvel to join her and then escorts her inside, where the wide expanse of the warehouse floor greets them. It's been turned into a sizable lab and workspace, the scaffolding of a good sized quantum tunnel machine dominating the main space. Above, though, where the offices might have been one time, is now an open concept loft, which is where Ava calls home. It's fairly makeshift and very thrift store, but still comfortable and possessed of more advanced technology strewn about -- including the woman's Quantum Energy Chamber, which she uses for recharging herself and maintaining her cohesion. Or, well... used. She doesn't need it quite so much as she did.

"Home, sweet home," she tells the Avenger as they enter and she pulls off her mask and gloves. "Phyla-Vell should be around here somewhere..."

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol doesn't mind, the flight over more slowly gives her an opportunity to look up on a holo-display Ava's files and read up on her a touch. She wasn't rude enough to do it in the bar when the name was given, but well this is basically a crawl of a flight and good information to have on hand.

It also lets her think about this Kree and whatever may or may not be going on with Thanos. Not a name she needed to hear this week.

Carol touches down with just a flicker of cosmic energy near the bike as Ava stows it. There is another shimmer as the darker SWORD Black Ops Version of her uniform cascades back into the civvies she was wearing at the bar.

"Well it is suitably abandoned and low profile I suppose..." there is a bemused shake of her head and then she follows Ava inside.

"And... books and covers..." she notes as they do enter and her attention drifts to the Quantum Tunnel and Energy Chamber. "Is that a Quantum tunnel...?" .... I mean she does work with several Pyms.

The attention drifts off all the science as she glances around for the alien. Pretty unassuming with her jeans, flight jacket, and AC/DC T-shirt.

For the moment.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla-Vell hasn't exactly 'settled in'. It's always hard to do that on a new planet. But her shoulders are slumped over a work station, her hands planted either side of a schematic that Vance has been working on for Ava. She's looking at it back and forth; the swaying motion has given her dark grey cloak a slow rhythmic rock.

Short white hair and a stunning red uniform with a large golden star upon her right chest turn to look toward Ava. Her blue eyes take in Ghost and her companion 'Captain Marvel'. There's no recognition on her face, she doesn't know who this person is.

She looks to Ava with a touch of puzzlement, "This is Captain Marvel?" Crest fallen, she had hoped it would be her mother. Instead, it's a stranger. Perhaps this was a dead-end, just a strange coincidence of languages that brought a Marvel to this world when she needed a Mar-Vell.

But, that's no reason to be rude. She offers a hand to Carol and says, "I'm Phyla-Vell. I'm looking for someone named Mar-Vell, and Ava thought you might know where I could find them - given the name you possess." Though if she'd checked, that little spark of cosmic energy might have given her a touch more hope.

And my does she look like Mar-Vell. If Mar-Vell had bleached her hair and put on a wild uniform and fancy gauntlets anyway. The Q-Bands are quite distinctive. "But if you know nothing then such is my luck today." Still, Ava tracked Captain Marvel down quickly, that's impressive. A small smile is given to Ava in thanks none the less.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava glances to the scaffolding as Carol queries it. "The shell," she admits. She's had little to do with the Pyms, mainly because she remembers her father disparraging someone with that name. May not be the same Pym, however. "It's a long way from done." Though, maybe she has time to complete it now, thanks to Phyla.

She leads Carol up to the living space where she and Phyla are able to see one another. When Phyla makes her query, Ava nods. "This is her," she says. She never promised Phyla that Carol was the woman she was looking for. Only that she might have some idea simply because of the cosmic energy she wields. More a lead than an end, she expects.

Or not. Phyla looks a little disapointed. Even so, when she smiles her gratitude, Ava gives another brief nod. She pulls off her gloves and steps back a little, figuring her job is done. She can let them speak. Chances are she's not going to know most of what they're talking about anyway.

Doesn't mean she won't listen.

Carol Danvers has posed:
Okay whatever Carol expected... it one hundred and twenty percent was not this.

There is a gobsmacked expression on the Avenger as she just stares at Phyla. Not something anyone in these parts has really seen for certain. Her eyes just wide and then confused as she looks at Phyla. When she doesn't seem to recognize her and talks though that moment of timelessness for Carol comes crashing down and inwards.

What the hell is going on.

Carol's eyes flick to the Q-Bands and then the uniform then back up to the lady wearing and wielding them. "The Q-Bands... and ... that makes you Quasar unless something has happened to Quasar." all of the confidence Ghost heard earlier is gone as well, there is just a note of confusion.

"Jesus... you look like her... " a sharp stop and a glance at Ghost then back at Phyla. "Phyla-Vell... are you Mar-Vell's sister....?" her eyes shift looking her over ".. I figured you were a Kree come to start trouble... but.." a gesture towards the bands and she just stares still at a bit a loss at Phyla's face.

Like she is staring at a ghost and it hurts for some reason.

Gut punch of a moment.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
The expressions on peoples faces when they meet Quasar sometimes look like this - though how anyone on Earth (of all places!) would know about her surprises her too. She nods her head, "That's right" She isn't quite sure how to play this, but if a bit of fame can work in her favour she can roll with that, "I'm Quasar, Protector of the Universe." It worked with Vance after all.

But then the conversation goes a little side ways. Look like her? Sister? The expression she pulls on her face is one of utter confusion and her blue eyes glow golden for the briefest moment as she loses control of her emotions. This person knows Mar-Vell.

"Mar-Vell is my mother" she says a touch more softly. Kree, coming to start trouble? well, that's not entirely possible but certainly not her. "You know Mar-Vell. It's extremely important that I see her, the fate of the universe depends on it." Nothing too overly dramatic there.

She furrows her eyebrows a moment and asks, "Did you name yourself after my mother?" There's almost a touch of anger tinged in to her voice as her eyes stare a moment piercingly. Distrust, confusion, betrayal, they dance over her face. She does not understand what is happening here and that upsets her greatly.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava's ears rise faintly at the sound of Carol's confusion. She turns back toward the pair, head canting curiously. There's a hint of concern on her face. When Carol begins to look at her for answers, she has none to give. She opens her mouth to say as much, but in the end says nothing at all. Her expression -- "Don't look at me... I have no clue," -- is eloquent enough.

Then Phyla is starting to get upset and Ghost frowns. "Hey, if you two decide to fight about this, could you do it outside. Or maybe up on the moon. I *need* this place intact..." No blowing up the Quantum Club!

Carol Danvers has posed:
A glance at Ava and then back to Quasar

The whole announcement of who she is as Quasar doesn't seem to phase Carol one tiny bit. Yeah she knows about the Q-Bands and who Quasar is, abstractly.

The glow of energy though and the next part, yeah okay that though phases her further. This is worse than the first gut punch. "I...." she just trails off helplessly. Not a nromal feeling for her. Carol isn't at all used to being hurt and confused. Even with everything they did to her.

"She never told me she had a daughter..... They never told me she had a family..."

Then again why would they.

This has to be some trick.

There is a flare of very familiar cosmic energy as her clothes shimmer, which Phyla would recognize is pure cosmic energy performing molecular control. She goes full uniform at this point and has a similar distrustful confused look.

Then Carol actually takes a step back though and jumps to the wrong conclusion though for a moment "If this is some trick of the Supreme Intelligence's ... I am going to Hala and I am going to ...." fists clench in frustration and wreath a bit in the energy "I .... am ...this is .. fuck! ... This is probably to trick me to go to Hala or some shit!"

Well Ava's concerns aren't unfounded.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla presses her lips together. Why is she sounding like Mar-Vell is not around any more. She takes a step forward to get _answers_ from this person but then there's that flare of very familiar.. *familial* cosmic energy. She pauses and takes a step back. Her own body begins to glow sympathetically. Family? How could that be.. impossible!

The edge on her voice is one of caution and an anger that is growing slowly. She looks over to Ava with a pained expression of her own, then back to Carol. "How do you possess this cosmic energy," she says broaching no doubt she needs an answer. "And where is my mother."

At the strange mention of a trick.. and Hala.. she tilts her head. Mentioning the Supreme Intelligence certainly got her attention. "How do you know about the Supreme Intelligence?" She lifts up a band and a holographic interface appears.

The Kree writing says 'Car-Ell. Status: MIA. Alert: Avoid at all costs. Quasar: Inform Supreme Intelligence when found'. She raises an eyebrow, "Why is the Supreme Intelligence looking for you?" The holographic interface disappears. "Speak," she says expecting her authority to be obeyed as it always is. She is doing her level best not to let her roiling emotions get the better of her.

Ava Starr has posed:
"Hey!" Ava says sharply, the words 'OH SHIT' screaming loudly in her head. "HEY! No blowing up my home!" She moves between them, intangible for all that she's not remotely confident that will protect her from either of them. "You wanna fight this out, go outside. WAY outside. Try Jersey! No one likes Jersey!" The Englishwoman is getting a little hostile, herself, now. "I didn't invite you here to Battle Royale. You want a family feud, go find the Hatfields and McCoys!" (An Englishwoman who knows US popular history.)

She looks between them. "I don't know who the hell the Supreme Intelligence is, but you can tell the bloody thing to go to hell. This is my planet and my home." She points at Phyla. "*You* don't get to go all alien warmachine here on my people." Then turns on Carol, "And you're a bloody SWORD agent! They will NOT keep you on the team if you fucking blow up NEW YORK!"

Carol Danvers has posed:
Well the feel of the energy is something for certain.

It along with Ava's shouting is enough to get Carol to take a deep breath and pull the energy flaring up back into herself. "Sorry." is snapped to Ava. It is snappy too.

Carol continues to watch Phyla warily.

Carol's own lightly glowing eyes flick down to the holo-display.

"Because I escaped her clutches twice now. I'd be surprised if it doesn't say to avoid me based on the last several times several of her schemes ended violently."

The posture isn't quite as impending violence but she crosses her arms now standing there. Still a mix of confusion and shock but ... not about to go off. Also not cowed by Phyla and her orders either though.

"I'm not going back to Hala. I will not let her mess with my head ever again, I'd rather burn the SI to cinders than submit to her again." and Car-Ell as it were absolutely seems to mean it too, and a deeper look at that well of cosmic energy it isn't unbelievable either.

"As for... " a deep breath... "Assuming you are actually Mar-Vell's kid..." this seems really hard still. "I ..knew your mother." the way she says knew seems to pain her too. That -Knew- is a Very Loaded Word. "She was here on a mission.. with Yon-Rogg though she defected. Because of me.. because of us." another loaded word ".... Yon-Rogg kidnapped me and Mar-Vell came to save me... bu the Psyche-Magnetron that was part of the Supreme Intelligence's plans exploded and destroyed the secret Kree base..."

"When I woke up I was on Hala and that ... " she clenches her jaw was about to say monster. "The Supreme Intelligence was riding my mind like a vice trying to convince me I had grown up there and was Car-Ell of Starforce.... she surpressed everything of Earth and Mar-Vell from my mind..."

So much hate for the SI, it just radiates from Carol.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
That small little ghostly human who has been quite kind to her just got angry. Her job is about saving people not getting them killed. But even as Carol is the first to draw her energy in, Phyla has to make sure. She does it second. Quasar does not have the luxury of assuming things will turn out alright. Also, she has no idea what a Jersey is.

Her eyes dance back and forth searchingly as she listens to Carol's stories. "I'm not here to take anyone back to Hala, except perhaps Ava to get the medical help she needs."

She tucks her hands behind her back and gives Carol a little bit more room. Parts of her story don't add up. "What do you mean she defected?" The expression on her face is dropping as Carol all but says her mother died in an explosion. "A Psyche-Magnetron is not going to give you cosmic energy and even if it could, a human would evaporate instantly. That's my mothers power in you," she says and her eyes flash again. She turns away from Carol a moment, her chest heaving as it starts to sink in.

She takes a few steps and rests a hand on the table and chokes up a small cry of anguish. The crime described by Carol about the Supreme Intelligence filters in to her mind but the idea that her mother is gone and what is left behind is this Car-Ell person.

She gulps down her sadness for a moment and looks back to Carol. "My mother defected because of.. you?" No wonder Carol looked so shocked when she saw her. She takes in a deep breath and says, "I need some air..." It feels to her like her world is starting to spiral out of control. She walks past them to the doors just to open them and feel the air on her face, leaning against the door frame but not leaving.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava watches the pair of them back it down a few notches. She doesn't so much sigh in relief as she takes a step back to give them both space. The stories start to come out and she realizes very quickly that they are carrying backstories easily as fucked up as her own. She's surprised at the flash of empathy she feels for them. Even if it doesn't translate to overt sympathy.

Her lips press tightly together. She stands and watches, suddenly glad both Fin and Vance are off elsewhere for now. She's not convinced this won't still go south in a hurry. And she really doesn't want Fin caught in the crossfire or Vance adding to the destruction.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"She didn't do whatever the Supreme Intelligence wanted them to do here... " she stops watching the woman and her being hurt like that actually has Carol taking a half step closer and reaching in a gesture of comfort before she manages to stop herself.

"I never asked for this. The scientists .. the second time they captured me and experimented on me with another Psyche-Magnetron and some brood tech... they said that original the Psyche-Magnetron transfered her powers to me and made me Half-Kree. She shielded me with herself..."

Which is also not how it should work either. You don't become half-Kree that way. Still Carol sounds so sad when she talks about it though. She sounds a bit confused about it all, though well she was shielded by Mar-Vell.

Also that also is some serious intergalatic war crimes too.

"I'm sorry you had to find out like this.... they didn't tell me she had a child... they didn't tell me much that was true. The Supreme Intelligence wanted a weapon she could control. I am not her weapon and never will be."

She finally does take a step closer towards Phyla. "I wish... your mom was here..." she really does too, on many levels. Sounds like the only Kree that ever really didn't try to screw Carol over.

The anger and risk of quantum club destruction seems to have passed now though. That is good for Ava and friends right.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Long breaths are taken. Carol is still talking. Saying things that don't make sense. She shuts the doors behind her and walks back in. Staring at the woman wearing an odd version of the Starforce uniform. "That's not possible," Phyla says quite bluntly, "My mother never would have died to a Psyche-Magnetron explosion and a human could never contain her powers. You must have always been half Kree."

She's not saying it with malice, but with the cold logic of someone trying to understand why their mother would sacrifice themselves for this person. But then a cold laugh of betrayal comes from her lips as Carol explains what the Supreme Intelligence wanted.

"Of course.. Quasar won't obey so why not make your own Quasar," she says angrily - not at Carol this time, but at the Supreme Intelligence and the crimes perpetrated against Carol in the name of the great Kree Hegemony.

Phyla takes in a deep breath, her cheeks flushed though she isn't crying. Kree don't cry like humans do. Not even her half Titan heritage would bring tears back. She looks at Carol again. This is the last person who knew her mother.

Suddenly she steps forward and wraps her arms about the woman and hugs her tightly, "The seven suns still burn." It's said as a whisper, something Mar-Vell would say to her; that even the seven suns will still burn when she is long gone.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava isn't quite sure what's going on here. But as she watches the two women inadvertently begin to comfort one another, she lets her shoulders relax. "Bloody, fucking aliens..." she mutters almost under her breath.

She turns and stalks toward the kitchen, returning some long moments later with a six pack she's pulled from a lower shelf. She puts the pack down beside them, drawing a single bottle from it that she opens with a hard pop against a counter.

It just seems like a beer moment... Well, whiskey, really, but she's willing to share her beer.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"That's impossible." Carol responds to the statement that she had to be half-Kree already.

She has no idea about the layers here. The SI isn't called The Supreme Intelligence for no reason after all. She has no idea how deep the ground work was laid for Captain Marvel.

Carol isn't crying because Captain Marvel doesn't cry.

Which holds true until someone who looks so much like Mar-Vell hugs her and says that The Seven Suns Still Burn." Carol chokes a sob that just wracks her body and hugs Phyla back. She isn't half Titan after all.

It is a long moment unless Phyla pulls away.

It is definitely going to be a beer moment or whiskey moment for sure.

When the hug finally breaks she wipes her face with the back of her uniformed arm.

She wasn't crying you were crying.

She needs more therapy than SWORD can afford honestly. She pulls away and steps to grab one of the beers silently. Case in point.

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla-Vell needs to hug this person, because inside her is a part of her mother. She _needs_ this. It's not going to be easy to mourn the loss of someone she thought the universe of. When the hug does end there's a small smile on her lips. She places her hands on Carol's shoulders and looks in to her eyes.

"You're going to be okay. I'm not here to play fetch for the Supreme Intelligence. There are far bigger problems that need addressing." The question of her genetic origin.. can possibly be discussed again another time. Beers. Ava brought beer.

She rolls back her shoulders and lifts up her chin. "Peter tells me that all Earth beers are divine," she comments and accepts one. She pulls the top off and then takes a sniff. A look of concern crosses her face and then she sips.

"I know this is a lot to ask ... Captain Marvel." Saying that name makes her eyes tighten just a little bit, "But I need your help. Thanos must die and I know where he's hiding. He's trying to collect the infinity stones and he almost got his hands on one."

Ah the infinity stones. Nothing more than a legend, a fable, a myth.. right? Thanos on the other hand is quite real. The mad Titan, the terror from hyperspace. Very very high on most most wanted lists everywhere.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava takes a long pull of her beer now, satisfied the pair aren't going to blow up her home *this time*. "Right. Clueless human, here. Who's Thanos and what's an infinity stone?" Because if she's considering blasting off into the unknown with a bunch of space pirates and a walking supernova -- maybe a pair of walking supernovae -- wating to happen... she'd like to know what she's walking into.

Not that it'll stop her from walking into it, mind. She knows Phyla's trick isn't going to hold her stable forever. But still... She needs to think of Finley, if not herself. Finley can't go intangible if some mad spacegod takes a pot shot at her. And Ava fully intends to drag the engineer along with her.

Security blanket.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"If you were we would half to take it to the moon... or Jersey." her voice is a little rough but hey some of the snark is back.

Her clothes shimmer back to the civilan attire, which is very good control of the cosmic energy manipulatin.

"Why am I not at all surprised that Quill is involved in this somehow... or at least that you know him and his crew." she presses the cold beer to her temple for a moment as she listens.

"He what?"

Deep breath. God when it rains it pours.

"Lot of people have tried to kill him... I am pretty sure that is the Destroyer's whole schtick." she looks worried but is quickly regaining her over all composure. "I had.. thought and really hoped those things were just a myth to fuel idiot treasure hunters..." she sounds like she still isn't sure they could be real based on the legends. "Regardless though Thanos is really bad news..." she looks to Ava "Mad Titan.. which is an alien race. Terror of Hyperspace. He wants to wipe out half of all life in the galaxy and has a band of fanatics with him called the Black Order. High tier supervillains in earth perspective every single one of them. He is wanted dead pretty much everywhere.. but he has them and an army. They go around the Galaxy razing planets."

A Brief pause "Infinity stones... are ..well myths. They are said to have powers that would make most aliens that pass themselves off as gods quake in their boots." which yes is a jab at the Asgardians.

Carol looks to Phyla though "I do have a small complication on my plate. The small alien issue we are dealing with.... unless they are with you or how you got here?"

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla twists her mouth a little at the taste. "You know Quill? Until recently he's the only human I've known... though I suspect he's not all human." Not after he conquered an infinity stone that almost killed the rest of the crew and herself.

"Two of Thanos' inner circle defected. Gamora and Nebula. To Peter's crew. Nebula has been retaken by Thanos and Quill asked me for help getting her back. Gamora.. has been very helpful in understanding just what Thanos is doing."

She draws out a chair and takes a seat. "Ava, when the universe was created six elemental concepts were used in its construction.. this is how the myth was told to me. Power, Space, Time, Mind, Soul, and Reality. They exist as stones now, distributed throughout the universe but they are drawn to each other and people who think that they can harness their power."

She shakes her head, "Very few people can. And ahem.. Titan, I am half Titan myself. Thanos still remembers the fall of the planet - I wasn't even born yet. He wants to gather all the stones so that he can 'solve the biggest problem in the universe'.. or more simply put, kill half of everything that lives to free up the resources for those that remain."

She raises an eyebrow, "Now, I'd say that's insanity talking but he almost got his hands on the power stone and we know he's been hiding for years now planning something. Now I know exactly where he is in hyperspace - I intend to go in there and kill him and rescue Nebula at the same time. But I can't do it alone.... the last time Thanos and I fought we came to a stalemate and he..."

She pauses and takes a long drink of the beer, "He took my girlfriend Moondragon hostage. I have not seen her since. I fear he has killed her - so yes, I admit, I want some revenge too... but ending him would be doing the universe a great service and it is quite literally my job. I am the Protector of the Universe after all."

"I came to Earth looking for my mother to help me... but..." She grimaces a moment, it still hurts, "But you could help me instead." Ah.... the Shi'ar. When they're mentioned a look of guilt crosses her face.

"I cannot help you. I already engaged them once already to help a Princess from their home world flee them and come to Earth. She arrived with the Guardians. They know now that anything I might threaten them is a bluff - I cannot drag the Nova Corps and the Kree Hegemony in to a war with the Shi'ar just because a princess is fleeing persecution.... as much as I want to."

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava looks between the two. "Soooooo..." she drawls, looking at Phyla, "You're going off to fight a crazy spacegod wannabe who's collecting cosmic batteries he intends to use to power a universal genocidal death wish on behalf of Mother Nature because something destroyed his home?" Then she looks at Carol, "But you can't go because, apparently, there are aliens threatening the planet right this moment... which is why you've been doing all those crazy press conferences and trying to convince people we're not dealing with another Brainiac who's going to shrink all of New York and put it in a bottle just for funsies?" A beat. "That about sum it up?"

She cants her head, still looking at Carol. "If it's not as bad as Brainiac, is the world going to fall apart if you leave the Avengers and SWORD and... pretty much every other super team on the damned planet to deal with it? Because I'm thinking mad spacegod trying to wipe out half of all existence trumps weird aliens -- of which we seem to have MANY on this planet -- causing a fuss on the news."

She swallows another deep pull of beer. "Just sayin'."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"That does about sum it up."

Right drink the beer. She takes a deep slug before holding the cold bottole to her temple once more. This is enough to get a headache.

"Wonderful.. so something that was either the power stone or something good enough to fool you.. almost fell into Thanos's hands. He has two hostages, the Black Order, and an army still in hyperspace."

"At least I know why the Shi'ar have bunch of ships in my backyard now.. fleeing Royalty. Is it a coup or something?" she looks at the door then glances at her wrist and a display lights up. "Oh according to a little bird it's Sharra and Kythri. Wonderful." then back to Phyla. "I need to make sure the right people know so if they try to raze the earth trying to get their Princess back... it is dealt with." she frowns "Do you have any idea why the hell she had the Guardians bring her here of all places?"

On the other topic though she looks at the beer. "Of course I'll help you though with Thanos though.. " which she is honestly already thinking about.

"If we can lure away and put down the Black Order first it will make it much.. much easier. No offense to the Guardians but the Order is a lot..."

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla-Vell raises an eyebrow as Ava summarises things quite nicely. "No, you got it. You're a quick study Ava." She likes Ava, very 'to the point'. More beer is drunk and she says, "Quill was wrong, this beer is terrible." But she knows he has serious nostalgia for his home planet.

She chuckles a moment, "For love. She had them come to Earth for love. A man named Charles Xavier is who she wanted to go to. I don't know how the two even know each other.. but this planet seems to be full of surprises." Like a woman her mother was willing to sacrifice herself for.

"Thank you. Thanos is.. too much by myself. And if something goes wrong, I need to know there's a person by my side who can get the Guardians back to safety, preferably with Nebula."

"I have a modified stealth dispersal system to hook up to the Milano.. that's the Guardian's ship," she adds for Ava's benefit, "that will allow us to enter hyperspace and travel to Thanos' fleet - board The Dark Destiny... that's Thanos's mothership," she adds again for Ava's benefit, ".. sneak past the black order and confront Thanos while the rest of the Guardians get Nebula. At least, that's what I hope - but odds are Drax will want to have a piece of Thanos too. May be Rocket and the tree Groot... that's.. uh...," she has no way to explain a living tree person for Ava's benefit.

"And we can talk about Mar-Vell on the way," she adds a little more softly.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava lifts her bottle towards Phyla in mute acknowledgement of the compliment. She's had to be a quick study. It's helped keep her alive. Though she's not sure how she's going to explain to Fin just what she's dragging her into. Maybe she *should* let the engineer stay home...

She moves over to a seat near a long counter filled with weird electronic shit and flops entirely unceremoniously into a chair. It's a chair on wheels and it swivels. Thus, she ends up coasting back about two feet, swinging back and forth as she goes. Given how quickly she's downing that bottle, it's actually kinda fun.

But as Phyla starts explaining the tactical situation more explictly, she smacks her heels down on the floor to stop the chair's crazy movement. The more she listens, the more she expects she and Fin will be a lot better off hiding out on Hala while the rest of that strange crew goes to face off against the crazy spacegod wannabe. Because she's not sure she has a rifle powerful enough to help.

Carol Danvers has posed:
Well this is a hellish mess. The empty beer is set down.

She taps her holodisplay back up despite the suit looking like a flight jacket and flicks her comm channel to Phyla "I'd like to talk about Mar-Vell."

She grimaces though "Xavier. Bloody hell. I need to talk to some folk about this and give them a heads up. Also ask Xavier why the hell a space princess is fleeing to earth to be with him." she really didn't think he had it in him to be honest.

She also doesn't explain who he is.

"I think we need to work on the plan a bit, sneaking onto Dark Destiny and hoping to avoid Ebony Maw by sneaking makes me nauseous.."

They definitely have super villain names.

"How much time do we have?"

Phyla-Vell has posed:
Phyla shrugs her shoulders at the mess with the Shi'ar. Unless they start blasting away at Earth she can't do anything.. or unless Earth somehow starts blasting away at them. Who knows, this planet is full of surprises. "Did you say Brainiac? actually, don't tell me, I need to focus on Thanos right now."

A nod to Carol and she says, "That's ... reasonable. He's not so tough when he's alone, luring him away may be a good strategic play." Not so tough??! just what kind of fighting is Quasar used to.

"Well.. time. That is a curious question. I put a tracker on Nebula last time I encountered her and it lead me to their location. Gamora believes some part of Nebula loathes Thanos. So it depends; when she finds the tracker if she tells her father or not. May be this is her out too. May be she knows that. Or may be we will walk straight in to a trap. But I have to try... I suggest everyone settle their affairs here on Earth. The Milano will be landing by Titans Tower in Metropolis any day now. I'd like to introduce you all to the crew."

Ava Starr has posed:
Put their affairs in order. Oh, that's a treat. Ava sets her now empty bottle down and chuffs out a breath of air. What the hell is she signing up for? She pushes to her feet and shoves the rest of the beer towards them with her foot. "So, let's assume we're out of here before the end of the week. Here. Drink up. I'm gonna go find Fin and tell her to start packing." And to update her will.

Damn, there's not enough beer in all the world for this.
