The Game is afoot, a hand, maybe a knee
Date of Scene: 06 August 2021
Location: Horse Stables
Synopsis: Clues are found attitude is given, just another Friday at Xavier's
Cast of Characters: James Proudstar, Monet St. Croix

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar is crouched in the stables, looking over the scene of the crime intently. He's wearing his normal work clothes, a dark tee shirt that looks at least one size too small because it is, and a pair of raw denim jeans. He has on his word boats and that long hair is tied back with a leather strap. All the muscles on display. He looks like a text book inscrutable injun carved from stone or a dark wood. He is crouched outside of Sargeant's stall taking in all the details. "Next time this happens we can't let the kids trample the crimescene like this."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Someone is approaching the stables. There's the sound of soft footfalls on the ground, the perceptable (to Warpath's enhanced senses) scent of grass being crushed mixed with a faint but expensive perfume that tickles his memories.

Moments later it is obvious, Monet is about to enter. As she does she greets her former classmate in her French-accented English peppering in French terms. "Bonjour, James," she says, "I heard about Sergeant. Si triste," (So sad) "I will miss him."

Noticing he is investigating the location she steps upwards and begins to hover inches above the ground as she asks, "Have you noticed anything in particular and may I be any help?"

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar nods, sadly, "He was a a good horse, easy to ride and patient around the kids. Reminds me of a palmino back on the ranch." James considers, then looks up, and gives a cursory smile and a nod, "Nice to see you back Monet, here for the aliens or is this a social call?" He smiles easily and thencsighs, "Well, it wasn't a wolf, or any animal I know of, if we were in Arizona I'd be thinking chupacabra but they aren't local, and that doesn't match with the story Rogue is telling. I've scoured the groubds, and we did have a couple of coyotes go through a few nights ago but there is nothing here. And I mean /really/ nothing, raccoons, opossums, badgers all gone. it's weird. Even Flurry is being skittish, she won't come near the mansion. I followed the tracks out to the dumpster, found this," he holds up a bloodied Xavier's hoodie, "So... not an animal."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
"Staying the summer at least, scouting colleges," Monet answers regarding the timing question, seeing no point in explaining that she's been back for almost two months as he's either missed her scent around or it doesn't really matter. "So," she starts to ask a question out loud about the hoodie but chooses instead to project it into James' mind: **Are any of the students missing?** She then asks, "Are you certain its a hematophage, not a ritualistic draining where the perpetrator carried off the blood rather than consuming it?" also, outloud.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar shakes his head, "Nope, all accounted for. And none of their powers matches the profile. I followed the tracks out to the dumpster but whoever it was doubled back and got lost in the crowd, so it is definitely one of us." He taps his chin. "Based on the stride and the depth of the tracks, they're about 5' 6" and 120 pounds or thereabouts. Which sadly, encompasses about 70% of the student body and a few of the teachers. The sweatshirt belongs to one of the students but they say they put it in the wash the few days ago, so, anyone could have pulled it out." James considers this, pursing his lips, "Possible, but this is the least effective way to do that. I would have used the femoral artery and a tube into a bucket, or buckets. The horse wouldn't have known anything was wrong until it was dying. But, It's a lot of blood, there'd be marks in the hay where they set the receptacle, voids. Unless they held it up? Any they'd be weighted down by that much blood, say, 20 or 30 pounds, so we're looking at... 90 pounds now?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet nods along with James' explination. Her expression remains somewhat aloof but he can smell that she's annoyed at the thought that a member of the faculty or student body could have done this. "That seems about right, James," she says regarding the weight. "However, there are many among us who could handle that much weight without breaking a sweat. You and I for example and we're both here the next day. Would make a professional investigator wonder. You have the added advantage of being able to cover up enough evidence so that only Mr. Logan would have a chance of picking it up." That last is said without any accusing tone, rather she just reviewing the matter in pure calculating facts... without a care of how it might make the Apache warrior feel about the conversation.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar snorts, "If I had a bad day." James Proudstar considers, "Well, you or Rogue would fly presumably, Kitty would phase, Yana or Clarice would port. I also wouldn't leave such dainty footprints, though I might to throw people off. But again, it has to be someone seen in the crowd last night, the tracks lead back here. We should probably speak to them all." Jim sighs, "This isn't over, someone here is a predator"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
"I think, James," Monet says matter-of-factly, "That you mean someone here is secretly more a predator than we thought they were. You and I both know that there are predators among us." She has that know-it-all smirk on her face that Proudstar might remember from their shared classes during his senior year, that European transfer student that always seemed to hold herself above the rest of the class at the beginning... sure there were reasons that justified and clarified it but it still might rub him the wrong way.
