Madison Evans has posed:
"Well - technically it's tomorrow. But thank you!" It's been a good day for Madison - but how could it not? The young, aggressively optimistic girl has been wearing a t-shirt that - well, it's technically a Halloween shirt, but it's been press-ganged into serviced. It shows Vader reaching out over an empty Death Star themed candy bowl filled only with cobwebs, which says 'I find your lack of candy disturbing.' And on her head? A paper birthday crown decorated to say 'Sweet 16.' A few mean-tempered kids tried to tease her for her childish delight in this, the most wonderful of holidays - the day of her Birthday. But she has been undetered.
She now hefts her backpack, headed for the rack where she's parked and locked her bicycle. Time to head home - and do //no homework// all weekend. Not this weekend!

Billy Batson has posed:
Mads.

Dang.

He was going to see her for Game Night. Pan messed that up. He sees the crown. Oh carp. Birthday.

OK, being the Champion put him a day behind in schoolwork. I made him ignore social obligations. The power of Shazam owed him and was paying off . Now.

But first he ran like the sneak thief he was for the dumpster. He had to find a better place to change. The students getting ready to leave for home and their weekends looked up at the sudden thunder.

A moment later Shazam was slicing the sky in half, heading for California to get Madison a present.

A moment later (over Pennsylvania) he turned around. Newark Airport was way closer and had souvenirs from all around. A burst of the Speed of Mercury in the Gifte Shoppe got the gifte, a gifte bag and a card with a cat wishing a 'Happy Purr-Day!'

He comes out from the dumpster after another boom and runs after he yelling, "Madison! Wait up! I got you a present!!" He's waving the little bag.

Madison Evans has posed:
Madison does indeed wait up - her steps slowing, as she turns towards Billy. "Aww - you didn't have to do that!" she exclaims in a bright tone. She wasn't carrying any other visible birthday gifts - but maybe they were shoved into her backpack, or tucked away in her locker. "That's so nice of you - thanks!"
She waits for Billy to join her as she adds, "You know - I invited some folks over to my place tomorrow! We're going to be doing board games, and eating cake and ice cream. You know - //Birthday// stuff." Right. 'Board games' were Birthday stuff in her mind. "Plus I'm going to have Star Wars turned on in the background. Because //of course.// Did you want to come?"

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson is suddenly in a dilemma. Does he give her a birthday hug? Handshake... <gasp> kiss? And now he's getting an invite?

Oddly, spending most of your life in abusive foster homes, JD lock ups, and and the Philly streets leaves you ill prepared for the nicer side of life. So he fixates on a secondary concern. "Uhm, I have a confession... I never got to see any but the first Star Wars movie." True. Foster families never seemed to have cable or let him choose what to watch. He was far too familiar with 'Breaking Bad.' Then he hands her the bag and holds his hand out for a hearty handshake. (for the gift see https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61KZzf40vYL._SL1100_.jpg )

Madison Evans has posed:
Madison seems bemused by the handshake, but takes it in stride, returning it with enthusiasm. He's comment about Star Wars, though, earns him a dramatic gasp! "Please, please, //please// tell me that when you say 'the first' Star Wars movie you mean Episode VI, A New Hope, and not Episode I, A Phantom Menace?" she asks with what seems like real anxiety. "Because only one of those is a good movie!"
As she waits for his answer, she opens the card - grinning at the image of the cat - and then the gift, immediately letting out an 'awwww' at the California necklance. "Man... this is so //sweet// of you!" she exclaims.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson says. "I... there was this huge spaceship that blew up in the end and a big ceremony because they kicked butt and laser sword fights. Freddy mostly got me to watch Star Trek... the one with the guy with the ears. Where does that fit into Star Wars?" I mean between what movies?"

He sounds a little confused. On the other hand... party food sounded better than Ramen. Maybe he could take a piece of cake home?

Madison Evans has posed:
"A space station. The Death Star," Madison clarifies - tapping the 'Death Star candy bowl' on her shirt to illustrate it. "That's Episode VI, thank goodness. We got to get you to watch the rest - we're having Star Wars movie night on campus soon! You should come." She beams at Billy as she adds, "Star Trek is good too - just not //as// good as Star Wars, you know?"
    She might be biased.
As she talks, she tries to get the necklace off the little card it comes attached to so she can untangle the chain. Why do the chains always come so tangled?

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson reaches for it. "Here let me. " He gets it off the card easily. that's man's work. Then he goes to. out it around her neck. "Uhm, I'll just..." He puts her hair over her shoulder. The clasp just will not work. His hands aren't shaking, your hands are shaking! He has the Courage of Achilles.

Then again... Achilles was pretty sappy around Briseis. Maybe his hands shook too?

He is about to resort to cussing, that Brazilian word he learned from Fire that she slapped him in the mouth for using, when it works.

"There!"

Madison Evans has posed:
"Oh, umm - thanks!" Madison says brightly. As he fumbles with the necklace, she struggles not to turn brick red. Is anyone watching? Does anyone think they're A Thing? Oh god - does Billy think they're A Thing? I mean - the necklace does have a heart on it. Does he have A Thing for her? What does she do if he does? Is he taking this long on pur-
"Great! Ummm... how's it look?" she asks - hoping for a totally natural and relaxed smile, and missing the mark.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson gives her a look. Maybe the look takes a little too long because he doesn't know what he can say. He doesn't want to get all mushy and lead her on. Then he notices. the. heart. in. the. pendant.

Ah that's okay it's just a heart. Girls like hearts! Doesn't mean anything! Who's sweating? He isn't sweating! You're sweating. He finally gives her his coolest smile and a thumbs up. He's wearing shades and a skully, he can bring that off.

He can but he didn't. He turns a little red too.

Madison Evans has posed:
There really is only one solution to all this. Right?
    ABORT. ABORT. ABORT.
"Ummm... MyMomIsExpectingMeAtHomeToMakeEverythingForThePartyTomorrow," Madison blurts out in one long fast-spoken word. Because that's how English works - in her hands (mouth?) anyways. "So, umm, I better get home. But I'll see you tomorrow? Three o'clock, okay? Palm Tree Apartments." She provides the apartment number as well before she starts to dash for the bike rack."
    "Byeeeee! Thanks for the necklace!"
