Cast of Characters: Hyperion, Koriand'r

Hyperion has posed:
Having been a prisoner of the Shi'ar for a while, Hyperion was away and has only just recently returned to Earth. Sure, he resides in New York, but it's only a quick jaunt down to Metropolis to visit with Superman. Yeah, he's working alongside the Man of Steel to learn more about how his powers work in this augmented energy universe.

He was coming down from the high altitude jaunt and that was when he heard the radio squawking an SOS call. A barge in the river was in distress. It turns out that a metahuman conflict had a stray shot not so long ago. Nobody realized that the laser blast that struck the water had burned a hole in the barge's hull. It started taking on water and now it is in the deepest part of the river, halfway submerged. Superman is apparently in Bolivia, and so Hyperion changes direction and arrows for the stricken vessel.

Koriand'r has posed:
Patrol is one of those times that Kori doesn't LOVE but she doesn't hate it either. Out, flying through the sky, enjoying the sun -- so long as it's not cloudy -- and not being ogled by the crowd are all welcome benefits of patrolling. But, rarely is a patrol just a flight through the sky without any sort of complication. Usually there's a robbery, or a wild gunman, or something to occupy her, but when the SOS on the barge comes through, that's...not as common.

"Koriand'r on my way," she responds over the local radio -- since it's her usual patrol and this is the sort of thing she is trained for -- and then turns to zip down to the stricken vessel. She looks for signs of any possible crewmembers she can help off the vessel, since this is far too large for her to lift out and carry to shore.

Hyperion has posed:
And that is when a black and gold blur streaks down out of the sky and splashes into the water. It is a hefty splash too... And a few seconds later the sinking barge slows and then stops its downward motion.

It is still too bulky, and the water weighs too much for Hyperion to pick the whole thing up. Plus it is already halfway falling apart. But the truth is, no amount of physical strength could affect the whole barge... so it's a good thing that a large portion of his ability to left heavy objects is based on generating anti-gravitons. As such, the barge is no longer sinking for the moment. This gives a bit of time for crew to be rescued.... at the very least.

Koriand'r has posed:
Koriand'r had already started taking crewmembers off -- fortunately there are not a lot of them -- and ferrying them to safety on the nearest bridge. By her return to the ship, she notices it's not really sinking any longer, but tells the last couple of crew, "Climb on, please," and then, zips off to deposit them with their fellows.

As she goes, she flips on her comms and calls, "Who is holding up the barge to keep it from sinking? Do you need my help to lift it out of the water? I am able to assist if that's the plan." It is clear she's unaware of what exactly is going on elsewhere, since nobody's told her anything.

Hyperion has posed:
Well, the weird thing is that Hyperion heard the transmission. He didn't hear it on his radio. He heard it because he can hear such signals. He doesn't really -have- a comm that is tied into things. However... his eyes peer upwards and he can see that only Starfire is up there.

Lifting his head above the surface however, he says, "Not sure if lifting this would be wise. Perhaps you can help me tow it someplace where it can be rested safely on a shallow bottom?"

Koriand'r has posed:
She's not particularly close to the barge when Hyperion answers, but, fortunately she's still focused enough on the ship to notice his head peeking above the waves. "I will be right there," she calls. Perhaps she thinks he's fallen into the water as well? She asks over the comms again, "Anyone holding the ship up?" Yup, she's definitely confused.

When she gets to the ship, she reaches into the water to pull Hyperion from the waves, when she seems to notice his outfit. "Oh! You're...one of us. I don't know you. Are you a good hero or a bad hero? Wait, can you be a bad hero?" she seems flustered by this, and then says, "If you are the one holding this up, then I think I should help you. Where do you want to move this to? Why are you not answering your comms? They are very useful for this sort of coordination!"

Hyperion has posed:
"I am not on a team and as such, I've no comm right now. I can hear radio signals. I can see them too, which is weird. But yeah... let's get the ship over there." he says...

His hands are down under the barge's edge, anti-gravitons spread over the entire hull. He jerks his head towards the nearest shoreline. And he begins the process of towing the ship, ever so slowly... in that direction. "I am Hyperion by the way. Nice to meet you Ms...?"

Koriand'r has posed:
"You can call me Kori, Hyperion." Kori replies as she moves down to grab onto part of the hull of the ship, and starts to lift to drag it along in the direction Hyperion is pulling the vessel. She is at least a good teammate in pulling it along. She isn't a huge help -- though she can lift up to 25 tons -- but she does increase the speed at which they are pulling a little bit.

"Where are you from Hyperion?" Kori asks as they drag the ship. She seems to be full of questions, "I have not seen you around here. Are you not in a team because you are a new arrival? You should find a group to work with who can get you set up with the comm system here. It even works cross city. Are you from New York?"

Hyperion has posed:
"Where I am from is a bit of a complicated answer. Let's just say that I am from both a long way off, and right around the corner." Hyperion replies, still working and moving the ship. "But yes, I currently live in New York City. I am from...."

It really doesn't take long to get the barge to someplace shallow enough for it to rest safely, and Hyperion comes up out of the water... turning and spinning at hyper-speed to dry off the uniform. Leaving water spray like a -very- energetic wet dog.

"I am from an alternate universe it seems. One very different from this one. One with far less ambient energy to fuel my powers too."

Koriand'r has posed:
"If you are from an alternate dimension, where is your counterpart in this timeline? Do you know of their location?" She starts to ask, before she's sprayed by water. The Tamaranean shields herself from the droplets that are flung at her by the other hero.

When he finishes, she lowers her hands and says, "It is polite to warn someone before you shake yourself off in front of them, like a wet dog, when you are in fact not a dog yourself. Or is that part of your alternate timeline as well? Part dog?"

Hyperion has posed:
Laughing, Hyperion shakes his head. "I have no counterpart in this universe. At lest not -literally-. In a very figurative sense, your Superman might be similar enough. But our histories are not much alike.... okay, similar but not the same."

"And I am sorry that I did not warn you. That was rude of me." He shakes his head and adds, "And no, I am not part dog. I am an Eternal. But in my universe... no spacefaring races have made contact with Earth yet. I was a member of the Squadron Supreme there. None of them -are- here with me though."

Koriand'r has posed:
"That you know of. There are probably dozens of them hiding around the planet, waiting to make their move, just looking for the right moment to strike," Kori says, conspiratorially, glancing from side to side. "I would keep an eye out, they might be coming for you." Is she serious? Possibly. Or maybe she just wants some revenge for being splashed.

"Either way, it is a pleasure to meet you and you should go and get on our comm system so next time someone doesn't shoot a star bolt into you or something when they encounter you on a mission," she adds. She's really hung up about the comms it seems.

Hyperion has posed:
"Oh, now that's going to give me nightmares. If there -are- aliens waiting to strike on my Earth and I am here, not there... then my friends.." Hyperion shakes his head, "They'll handle it. They are good men and women. Strong and determined."

"Well, the Justice League is at least aware of me. Superman has been helping me adapt to my newfound strength. Something of a tutor for me." He shrugs and inclines his head. "I suppose I should get a transmitter of one sort or another. Yes. Do you know where I might acquire one?"

Koriand'r has posed:
Koriand'r considers for a few moments and then says, "I would speak with the Justice League. They may have something for you if you join them. The various teams seem to have their own comm system, but then also patch in to the general emergency police frequencies for..well..this sort of thing," she explains. She then hovers a bit further up into the air and says, "Unfortunately, I need to be getting on with my patrol. People to save and all that."

Hyperion has posed:
"I see. Well if you need me, as I said I -can- hear radio transmissions. I can also see pretty much the entire EM spectrum. So a flare would not be missed." offers Hyperion as he lifts off the ground to hover, "Keep yourself safe Kori. If you cannot, then make sure that your enemies are less safe than you."
