Synopsis: June eavesdrops on the talk between Elektra and JJ and then comes out for a talk. At least there's whiskey.
Cast of Characters: June Connor, Elektra Natchios

June Connor has posed:
The door slams, and the heated argument is replaced by silence.

Well, silence, and the smacking of gum between teeth. At some point, June entered the hallway. She had been asleep, but part way through...well, it's not like Jessica was moderating her volume. Given that the entire fight was about /her/ she seems to have a fairly neutral tone about the whole thing, leaning against the hallway. When did she arrive? Well, she is a ninja. It's pretty clear that she's not trying to hide now, though, standing in a loose black tank top and underwear, devoid of her piercings and makeup. She actually /was/ sleeping. She does in fact look much younger that way, without the decorations to give an impression of her being older.

She glances at the door, and back to Elektra, but doesn't choose to say anything first. She just keeps smacking the gum she popped in her mouth when she woke up.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Expected JJ behavior really. Elektra lets out a brief sigh before lifting her shoulders in a careless shrug, bare feet bringing her over to where the bar is, pouring another whiskey for herself. She doesn't even look up. She knows June is there. Was she aware of the girl being there and listening almost the whole time? "Eavesdropping is a bad habit." she finally says in a rather non-challant manner, taking the whiskey up to her lips before quickly guzzling it down.

"Shouldn't you go back to sleep?" She then finally asks, dark gaze turning up to look across the living room to the young woman, a brow arching as if questioning if she's challenging her or not.

Regardless, it doesn't seem as if Elektra is with a rather patient expression at the moment.

June Connor has posed:
"Sure, mom," comes the sarcastic response. June shoves off the wall with the Hand tattooed shoulder, walking toward the kitchen casually. "You are telling a Hand-trained shinobi that eavesdropping is a bad habit. That's like, everything I've been trained to do for the last two and a half years. By folks working with you, I might add." She opens the fridge, bending over to look through the shelves for something to eat.

From inside the fridge, her voice adds. "Did you mean it?"

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Hopefully more than just eavesdropping.." A roll of her eyes given at the response before Elektra exhales, folding her arms and walking to the large windows that deliver quite the beautiful view of the city, looking out to it, jaw pressed tight together. JJ did have a way of pissing her off sometimes, and then she talked too much.

"I never say things that I do not mean to. Which part of what I said are you curious about though?" there had been a lot afterall!

And this was why she usually worked alone too. Meant there would be no attachments, but it had been something that Selene had been changing about her .., slowly.

June Connor has posed:
June pulls out the milk, and tosses it on the island, then grabs...chocolate syrup. Yep, that's the late night snack right there. No whiskey, or beer, she wants chocolate milk. She pulls out a wine glass, and sets it down. "Okay, let me rephrase:" she edits. "Was it true? What you said about getting me involved in all this." The milk is poured, and June doesn't look up at Elektra.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Elektra may be having whiskey at night but ..., milk and chocolate? That's barbaric. She catches a glimpse of it, enough to have her turn her nose briefly and yearn for another whiskey. But ..., she keeps herself dry. No need to dull the senses further. "Nothing of what I said during my talk with JJ was a lie." but was it the whole truth? Still, with June being evasive it's not as if Elektra opens up.

Yes, might be she is trying to force the other to open up about things being infuriatingly calm while she speaks.

"Why don't you tell me what's on your mind?"

June Connor has posed:
"You," June answers. "I still don't get all this. Why me? Surely you have some fawning wannabe in the Hand that would've cut off his own dick for you, or somebody that owes you something, or at least somebody who's not /me/." She empties a rather healthy portion of chocolate syrup into the milk, and grabs a spoon from the drawer to stir it, and then drops it with what might be considered a little frustration on the counter without anything to keep the drops of milk from the surface.

"Something not being a lie isn't the same as it being the truth," she verbalizes the evasive nature. "Don't dick with me, I need to know." There's an edge to her tone, an unmistakeable razor that separates her neutrality from hostility.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"And what exactly is the problem of having you instead of some fawnless, dickless wannabe?" Elektra retorts with a vague gesture of her hand, "You are neutral enough about all that's going on that I was sure you wouldn't be ..., biased by other things. Something that unfortunately many of the Hand already are. The Masters insidiousness and control is .., merciless." A faint smile. "You though..., you demonstrate a kind of spirit that has yet to be broken by their ways. And that is what I needed." while also reminding Elektra of her own young years. But no need to share that.

"And still do."

"I don't know why this surprises you at all." Elektra then finally adds, turning to walk to the kitchen door, resting her shoulder against the support.

June Connor has posed:
The chocolate milk is picked up, and she chugs half of it from the glass, eyes on Elektra, and then puts it down, immediately wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. When Elektra says her spirit has yet to be broken, it looks like that hurt, somehow. "So no mercy mission to save my soul," she confirms aggressively. "No rescuing poor June from the clutches of perversion and delinquency?" Whether that would be a good thing or a bad thing, it's a little unclear. "This /is/ as you set out, just business?"

Elektra Natchios has posed:
The way June seems to react to her words has Elektra considering it. Yes, she spotted that looking hurt. Clearly something had broken her before, maybe *why* she was out here with the Hand. But she had not yet digged deep enough to know of it. "I am not here to rescue you. I am a killer, and if you knew even half of my reputation you would know it too." a beat, "But, I am going to make sure you can rescue yourself from this shithole you are running yourself into."

Which clearly is a very different thing in her view than actually rescuing the girl. Maybe that's how she convinces herself of doing this! But it also shows it's not all business for the Hand Assassin.

"Or are you too proud to accept my help?" She asks directly.

June Connor has posed:
The non-binary nature of the response clearly leaves June without words. She doesn't answer quickly, tapping her index finger nervously on the counter as she stares down her chocolate milk. That tapping of the finger, though, is the only sound she makes. For a really long time. Perhaps she doesn't have an answer to the question, or perhaps she doesn't have a way to vocalize it. Whatever the reason, she just...stands there, staring at that drink in front of her.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Elektra dislodges herself from the door support she was against, stepping into the kitchen and closer to the counter where the girl is, arms folded loosely about her front, watching. "What are you afraid of?" she then finally asks at the lack of reaction or answer from June, dark gaze continuing to study the young woman.

June Connor has posed:
"Nothin," June's green eyes shoot up quickly in response to that question. "Not a fuckin' thing, I'm fine. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page." She reaches across the counter, taking the whiskey bottle by the neck as if she might choke it.

She never did answer the question of whether she was too proud. Then again, the follow up seems to have struck a more sensitive nerve. "I'm goin' back to bed," she announces, starting to walk back to her room, bottle in hand, and naturally, leaving the milk on the counter.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Liar." Is what Elektra replies to June at that quick answer about not being scared of anything. "But I still don't know what you want me to tell you." she finally speaks up when June snatches that bottle to start making her way back to her room.

"If there is even anything that would make it right." A look down to the chocolate milk. Ugh. A brief shudder and she will make sure to dispose of it once June is gone.

Still, she doesn't follow after her nor try to speak anything further. These kind of talks aren't exactly something Elektra is too experienced on.

June Connor has posed:
June stops, turning around with a pointing finger coming from the bottle that holds the whiskey, as if it could cast a hex on Elektra. There's a stream of mental profanity that is certainly prepped at the tip of her tongue, an angry condescending glare, despite the fact that Elektra is older, taller, and more experienced in life. None of it comes out. She just points again, as if the whole thing was said, then goes back into her room. She doesn't slam the door, she doesn't close it lightly.

    But it closes.
