Joan Wright has posed:
New York City is a city like no other.

Does it mean it has the most amount of incidents ever? Not necessarily. But with a city as diverse and yet separated as NYC, it does lead to some circumstances that might not appear in the day to day workings of other places.

Damage is a given. Damage of incredible amounts? Likely. And with something of that scale there needs to be a response of similar proportions. And that's where Damage Control comes in!

...

This is not one of their stories. But, one of their employees is on scene, making their way over to an apartment that may be missing one of their exterior walls due to a powers mishap. Because while this building may NOT be one of the Damage Control clients. There's nothing dictating what she can or can not do during her time off.

Joan pauses outside the open doorway to the indicated apartment, peering around the entrance. "Miss Gormengust?" Oh she hopes she's pronouncing that right, "I understand you could use my help getting your wall back in place?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Arriving at the apartment at nearly the same time, the white haired woman walks up just behind Joan and there's a kindly smile as she peeks around the corner and extends a hand towards the Gormengusts. "And I am to understand you could use help in learning how to control some recent developments." Ororo smiles, showing off an mismatched broach that doesn't fit her style, but is a known logo of the x-men. A black circle with two crossing lines with red filling in the gaps.

Joan Wright has posed:
Within the apartment two mutants of varying colors, one red and one blue, turn their heads to look over to the two women in the doorway. Seated across from them, a more natural toned female is seated and crying.

"Oh thank you." Mrs. Gormengust responds to the two arrivals, looking over to the younger female. "We've all had a bit of a surprise today." She looks over to the man, patting his arm, "We had cautioned her that this day might come but, we were thinking it'd be closer to what we had." She gestures to her blue skin before looking to the gaping hole in the apartment wall that reveals the building across the alley. "This turned out to be a tad stronger."

Joan gives a nod, eyes widening to the size of the hole, and then to the woman who came up from behind her. "Well, my specialty is with buildings so, I'll work on getting your apartment squared away long enough to get a more proper inspection and repair in place.

She looks back to Ororo, smiling to her, "But it appears you have help with the other issue. So I think you guys will be just fine."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo gives a kindly smile to Joan as the woman enters before her. "Lovely home." Ororo says as she crosses the threshold into the house and keeps an eye on Joan as the woman inspects the damage. Looking back to the adults, Ororo asks with a simple forward question, "How did the wall get damaged?" Hard to help when you don't have all the info.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan cautiously steps over to the opening, making sure not to get too close to the edge as she inspects the breaking point of the wall. She cranes her head down, looking to the bricks laying down below. Well, at least they landed in the alley and not a busy street.

"Well," Mrs. Gormengust starts, pausing to look to the tearful daughter. "Irma, sweetie, are you ok enough to share in your own words?"

Irma, still tearful looks up. Not looking directly over to Storm but managing a bit better than before, the teen sniffs. "I got dumped and- I was st-" She coughs, "-stressed. And A friend said screaming helps so I-"

"Ohhhh did she scream." Mr. Gormengust states, turning his head to look over to the opening and to the Joan who is now opening up a nearby window.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo's eyes widen briefly at the girl's response, a smile tugs at her lips before she turns her head towards Mr Gormengust. "May I speak with her?" Ororo asks for permission.

The X-man then walks over to the young woman and frowns at her. "Break ups are never easy. It's okay to be stressed and upset. We're all here to help you." Storm says with a kindly smile and takes the young girl's hand in her own.

Joan Wright has posed:
The parents nod, stepping away enough to give Ororo some time to speak to the girl. The child, is a mess. It is clear she didn't take into account the makeup she was wearing as she's got a bit of a raccoon effect going on with her. But to her merit, she does manage to look to Ororo as she gets closer. The hand tightens in response to the contact before she tugs in Storm for a hug. Messy face and all. "I'm sorry about the wall-AAALLL."

It is a good thing the girl's head is turned because that sob would have been painful otherwise. Instead a toaster ends up getting knocked off the counter from the small blast. Not quite brick wall destroying level but something of note.

Joan, who is currently leaning out the window and looking down to the alley, pulls herself back inside for a moment, looking to what got destroyed next. She adjusts her positioning so she's got less hanging outside of the building this time around. She kneels down, draping her arm out of the window before she closes her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo pulls the girl in for a tight embrace, "It's okay honey. We know you didn't, and it's going to be okay, look, she's going to help fix the wall." Ororo notes after bracing sharply when the scream happens again. The power in the girl's voice shakes Storm to her core, literally, but the xman has worked with similar powers on her own team. "I have a place that can help you learn how to master these gifts of yours, but first, there's something much more important to do." Ororo pulls back to look the girl in the face, "I'm Ororo, or Storm, you may call me what you want, what should I call you?"

Joan Wright has posed:
"Orororor- Storm?" The girl tries the first name but the shakey voice isn't helping her stop at the right amount of letters, she ends up going for the less repetitive of the names. She sniffs. "You can call me Irma."

Joan ignores the introductions and the reference over to her way as she focuses. Breathing calmed, the hand outside the window fingerguns and swirls. Eyes glance out, monitoring the bricks as they lift off the ground in anticipation.

"Back where you were."

THUNK!

...THUNK! THUNKA-THUNK-THUNK-THUNK!

Row by row the brick of the wall returns, pressing into their neighbors as the reddish brown blocks find their place. Quiet, Joan's eyes flit between looking downwards and to the exterior of the gradually shrinking hole.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo nods softly, "Storm is fine." She says, showing off a hint of teeth when she smiles and then leans forward to give the girl another hug. "I know another Irma, it's a lovely name." Storm let's out a soft breathe and steals a glance of Joan as she works her magic and motions for Irma to take a look. "I know a place that near by that can help you, help you to learn how to control your powers as well as she does."

Joan Wright has posed:
Irma gives a small smile at the mention of how nice the name is and that she knows another one with that name. "You do?" As she is directed, she turns her head, eyes widening as she watches the wall itself seemingly repair itself. "The place helped her do that?"

As the final brick slams into place, Joan falls back, landing on her butt. Due to the kneeling position it's not a far direction to go. She takes a deep breath before getting up and closing the window. "Okay," She starts, looking to the parents, giving a smile, "I can start the process of getting the proper persons to come out to ensure there are no other issues. But, structurally you are good." She looks over to the toaster, "It might be cheaper to buy a new toaster though."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
"Maybe she didn't learn from them, but they can teach you how to control yourself and maybe you can learn other things there that will help you when you grow up." The white haired woman says, giving a startled sound when Joan ends on her backside. "Are you okay my sister?"

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan glances up from her newly found seat. She gives a bright smile and a nod. "Oh yes. Just taking a moment. A number of the bricks made it to the alley below so there was an added challenge to speed control. But..." She nods to the wall, "All good. We'll have someone take a look at the wall a bit later for extra things but -" She looks back to the parents and then to Irma, "You're good to go for staying in the apartment tonight."

Irma looks to Joan quietly before looking to Storm. "How much does this place cost?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
"Cost? No no, you will have no cost. I will make sure you have a bus pass and everything. I'm going to get you into Happy Harbor. We have to all work together." Ororo says giving a nod to the parents of Irma and then a smile to Irma herself.

Slowly Ororo pushed back to standing on her feet, up to her full height. "I do believe I need to be moving on the hour is getting late."

Joan Wright has posed:
Irma looks over to her parents and then over to Ororo. "...Thank you."

Rested, Joan pushes herself up on to her feet. "I'll have to head out as well. But I'll be sure to contact you with follow up information about the wall." She glances over to Ororo and then back over to the trio. "I've heard nice things about Happy Harbor. I think you might like it there."

There. Promoting the idea. Yay team. Giving another nod, Joan heads for the door, pausing to give those inside a wave.
