Jedi Cannot Fly
Date of Scene: 31 August 2021
Location: Nurse's Station - Happy Harbor High School
Synopsis: Maddie falls out of a tree - and she and Irie meet the new school nurse.
Cast of Characters: Irie West, Madison Evans, Tara Tsabedze

Irie West has posed:
At first it was quiet at the Nurses station at Happy Harbor, and then with a rush of wind and a streak of yellow and red with speed force lightning arcing out, Irie suddenly appears yelling, "Nurse! Nurse! Madison's hurt real bad!" Madison is, actually, on Irie's back being carried piggy back style and drops her on an examination bench.

Irie's panting hard. It's not the running that wears her out it's the carrying somebody who weighs more than her. "Please take a look at her!" She cries, worried about her best friend, "She fell out of a tree!"

Madison Evans has posed:
"I'm not hurt so bad, honest," Madison says hastily - though the way she's cradling her right arm might make one doubt the truth of that statement. Plus the pained set of her jaw. "I'm - I bet I can fix it," she insists. Or at least make it hurt less. 'Control Pain' was a classic Jedi Power after all, right? She takes deep, centering breaths as she concentrates on making the pain stop - she'd settle for numbing her entire arm, honestly.
The cradled arm has a distinct lump under the skin - where the broken bones a pressing up out of their normal position.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
The nurses station was filled with a number of amazing things to help the students with, none of which did Tara really need. She had the room arranged to her tastes, ensuring the three beds for students to crash out on when needed, then cleaned the entire room top to bottom.

The obvious not human woman was wearing a simple tunic style shirt in light lavender over a mid-calf length skirt of purple. Her tail set free through a specially designed hole at the top of the skirt, because without it she would have issues walking.

As the yellow and red blur bolts into the room and becomes not one, but two students, she turns her attention to them immediately. Everything else would wait. "Oh dear," she offers immediately, as she walks over to Madison. There is a hint of an East African accent to her soft, soothing. "I'm afraid that arm is broken. It would be better if you let me take care of if then try anything yourself."

Irie West has posed:
Irie starts hovering nearby a ball of nervous energy. "Is it broken?" she asks, and then gets her answer. "Oh no! It's broken!" She starts pacing back and forth at a speed that's almost dizzying. "I /told/ her to let me go up the tree to get that kite! I could have just run up and down it, but she wanted to show off her Jedi powers! I /knew/ this was a bad idea!"

Madison Evans has posed:
"The branch broke! It wouldda broke on you, too!" Madison counters - though the moment Tara confirmed her arm was broken, her eyes water with tears. She was //completely fine// until then. The power of disbelief.
"I could probably fix it though maybe I don't know." No, there's no puncuation in that sentence. "...is it gonna hurt?" she asks, looking up at Tara finally - and then blinking. "Oh. Whoa," she remarks. "You... are //so// //cool//!"

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Urging Madison to lay back, Tara very gently lifts the broken arm by the elbow, well away from the actual break, up and away from Madison's body.

"Thank you, Madison," she offers softly with a smile, for the moment her attention is entirely on the task at hand.

While one hand holds the arm up, the other is lifted to run along and over the break without actually touching it, and as this happens the both hands begins to glow. "No my dear child, this should not hurt at all. If you had come in yesterday to the other nurse, I am afraid that it would have, but this is my specialty."

Irie West has posed:
Irie watches with wide eyes as Tara's hand begins to glow. "Whoah!" She says excitedly. "Magic! That's cool! Are you just a healer, or are there other things that you can do?" She seems to notice Tara's unusual appearance for the first time now, "Was it magic that made you into a cat girl, or were you always a cat girl?" Then she gasps, "When you're done healing Maddie, can I pet you? You look so fuzzy and soft!"

Madison Evans has posed:
Maddie lies down reluctantly - and winces almost on instinct as Tara takes her arm, even though she doesn't feel anything bad. She watches the woman's hand start to glow and asks uncertainly, "How does that work?" But she doesn't attempt to move away.
She half expects Tara's touch to be unusually warm - what with the glow - but it's hard to judge since she isn't actually touching.
"If it's broken don't we, uh, need to 'set' it?" she asks uncertainly.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
The silvery white light covering Tara's hands gently wraps itself around Madison's arm, which immediately causes it to go completely numb. This is what allows her to use both hands to set the bone back into place, a nice clean break is always easier to set than a messy one.

"I was born as you see me. There are a large number of things I can do with my magics, and as a, how do you say, cat girl?"

She offers Irie a broad grin that reveals her elongates incisors, before she looks back to Madison. "You will not feel this, and there will be no sound, but you must try to relax," she says softly to Madison, then moves both of her hand to actually touch the arm. Not even the slightest sound is heard as the bone clicks back into place, not even a twitch of pain or any indication really of anything. Then once again she starts lightly tracing her hand over the arm, without touching it, letting the silvery white light seep into the girl's body and heal the bone as good as new. It is not a fast process, the sun is up, but it will happen.

"In regards to petting me, an arm is an acceptable location, if you are curious as to what my fur feels like."

Irie West has posed:
"Cooooool," Irie breathes, but keeps her hands to herself. She'll do the petting once Tara is done actually healing her friend. Priorities, you know. "I've always wondered what it would be like to have a tail," she muses out loud. "I think it would be kind of rad. Do you have retractable claws? What about night vision? Does catnip work on you? If I put out an empty box would you be compelled to sit in it?" Irie has absolutely zero idea of propriety and just asks each question as they come to her mind without thought.

Madison Evans has posed:
Maddie tries her best to relax - but her left hand is gripping tightly to the side of the bed as her gaze remains fixed on Tara's movements. As she pulles her arm straight she murmurs, "Oh, gosh, that should have hurt, right? That should have really hurt..." But she hadn't felt a thing, thank goodness.
She watches Tara running her hand up and down her arm - and can't help but abruptly giggle at the last of Irie's questions. "Irie!" she protests. "I'm pretty sure that last one was rude!"
None of the other ones, though?
Truth be told - if Maddie wasn't so distracted, she might be helping with the questions, too.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
The entire time that she is being bombarded with questions, while healing Madison's arm, Tara is grinning. She had been warned that the children at the school were the curious sort, which was actually just fine by her.

"Under normal medical care, you would have had to go to the hospital," she explains to Madison. "They would have had to knock you out to place the arm, and you would have woke up with it in a cast that required six to eight weeks to heal. So yes, straightening and setting the bone should have hurt."

Her hand continues to move slowly the length of Madison's lower arm, and even over her hand, to ensure that the bone, tendons, muscle and skin all heal as if the break never happened.

"Now to you, Irie," she glances for the briefest moment to the other girl before looking back to Madison's arm. "My claws cannot be retracted, it is something of a hazard in day to day things, but as I have had them my whole life, I have learned to adapt. My vision at night is far better than it is in the day, the moon is my Goddess and I am graced with her vision. Catnip and silvervine are in fact like drugs to me, though not addictive, I tend to avoid them." She chuckles softly here and ends with, "And if you happen to find a box large enough for me in this form, I would be interested to see if I had the urge to sit down or not."

Irie West has posed:
Irie now has a new mission in life: Find a big box for Tara! Then something occurs to her. "Wait. You said 'this form.' Does that mean you can take other forms? Are you, like, a panther shifter? Stalk around at night and terrorize the local sheep? Are there even any local sheep? I'm pretty sure there are cows, but I don't think panthers are interested in cows," she says musing to herself. She looks back up, "/Would/ panthers be interested in cows? Oh! You said the moon was your goddess! That's cool! Do you get your powers from the moon, then? Is that why it's all silvery? Wait. If you're a shifter does that mean that silver is dangerous to you? That would be bad if it was."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Oh, gosh, mom would freak out if I ended up in a hospital!" Madison gasps, before hastily adding, "But, um, like I said - I could probably have healed it I just, umm, I'm not really sure if I could have straightened it..." And healing it //unstraightened// would have been a bad idea.
"Yes, she's always like this. No, there's nothing you can do about it. Yeah, I rather enjoy it too," Madison adds brightly in the wake of Irie's further ramblings, answering the questions Tara has politely negleced to ask, herself.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Holy onslaught of new questions! Tara wasn't expecting some of those, but they do make her giggle softly. This one was curious alright, and not afraid to just throw out the questions that popped into her head. The feline was certain she liked that, and she had no problems with answering the questions she could.

"I have three forms that I can assume, this one, a panther and the warrior form of the Kivuli," she answers after the giggle, her hands now moving back up to the elbow. "Madison, the feeling should be returning to your arm now, please tell me if you feel any pain, as you should not."

Now back to the mission, answering Irie's questions. "Panthers are interested in any sort of live stock they can catch and eat, but I am not interested in terrorizing sheep or cows for that matter, I can subside on local store meat choices. I am the living embodiment of the Goddess Moon, or Bast as some call her, thus why I was born in this form. My power comes from Her, who is the Moon, and no, silver does not effect me like the legends regarding werewolves, though I have been compared to them quite often."

Irie West has posed:
It's rare for anybody to actually keep up with Irie's energy (which is one of the reasons she likes Maddie so much) and Tara has been doing a spectacular job of it. "Bast?" she asks, eyes wide in wonder. "Cool! I know that god! Well, not personally. The only god I know I haven't met yet," she says, quieter, thinking about her past (which is in the future).

"Is she already healed? That was quick! No wonder you're the school nurse now." She wanders over to the edge of the bed to sit with Maddie, now. "I've never had to go to the hospital," she says. "I heal too quickly. One of the perks for being a conduit for the Speed Force."

Madison Evans has posed:
Madison sit up cautiously as Irie joins her on the cot - and starts prodding cautiously at her arm. "Okay. Whoa. That feels weird. Like - I know I should feel it, but I can't." She tries moving her fingers, but they're sluggish and clumsy as the numbness starts to wear off "Soooooooo weird."
While she's prodding at her arm she asks, "So - can we ever see you turn into a panther? Can other people turn into a cat-person God-embodiment too? Or you gotta be born that way? Are you human? Are your parents human? Or is like - the moon //literally// your mother? And if so, //how does that even work//?"
Oh God. There's two of them now. Run!

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Two of them. One was bad, two was a nightmare, but Tara keeps right on smiling. She watches carefully how Madison's arm is, certain that it is healed and good as new, perhaps even better, but it was still a bit numb. That would pass.

"We call her Goddess Moon in my tribe, but she is Bast to those outside of it," she says first to Irie. "Her arm is healed, as if the break never happened. I still must fill out the proper paper work for the school, indicating that Madison cam in with a broken arm, but that is was healed."

Stepping back to ensure that Irie can reach Madison, she liked seeing them looking out for each other. "I can show you my panther form any time you would like, though it cannot be during school hours, perhaps after school some time. I cannot say if Goddess Moon has other's out there who can assume a cat-person form, as you call it, but there have been other Kivuli. We are born once every ten generations or so, a blessing to the tribe and the world, we are meant to serve."

Stepping over to her desk now, she fetches two bottles of water from the small fridge and carries them back over, offering one to each girl.

"I am not human, though my mother and father were. It is believed that at the moment of conception, Goddess Moon touches the embryo and thus a Kivuli is born nine months later."

Irie West has posed:
Irie's eyes go wide. "You're not going to tell Maddie's mom about this are you?" She looks over to her friend, "She's gonna be so pissed off at you." She takes the water bottle gratefully and cracks it open. "I mean, she'll be happy that you didn't have to go to the hospital but you're gonna get an earful about Jedi leaping into the tree."

Her attention turns back to Tara when she talks about her origin. "Yeah, I kinda was born special, too. My mom was in the Speed Force when she gestated me and my brother, so she was only pregnant for about two or three minutes before she had to give birth." She starts to swing her feet beneath her, "And I grow up quickly. You wouldn't know it but I'm only six years old."

Madison Evans has posed:
"I fell out of a tree. Kids fall out of trees. It's not like I was fighting crime in the middle of the school day on campus," Madison protests, as she takes the water bottle from Tara. Instinctively - she takes it with her right hand, and it slips from her numb fingers, prompting a giggle from the girl. "Oops."
She concentrates for a moment, and the bottle floats into her left hand, prompting a grin of success from Madison. She wedges it tightly into her right hand, clenching her slowly waking fingers as tightly as she can, so she can twist the top off with her left. Just before she's about to take a swig, though, something Irie said registers on her.
"Wait. You're six now? Did your birthday pass? Did I miss i-" Her distraction causes her to lose her grip on her bottle again, and it crashes to the floor once more, though this time without its cap.
    "Oh no! I'm sorry!"

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Tara ah's softly as what Irie says explains the questions. Only six years, hardly enough time to really learn anything.

Just as she looks back to Madison, she watches the girl lose the hold on the bottle. Before it can hit the ground however, cat-like, lightning reflexes allow Tara to catch it, though some water does manage to escape before she gets it up right again.

"No need to be sorry," she offers with a bright smile as she offers the bottle back. "Your arm is still recovering, of course it will have issues. I will have to tell your mother, I am afraid that is school policy, but as you say Madison, it was a simple accident. These things happen every day all over the world."

Once Madison has her water back she looks to Irie, "Six years old, that is not much time to learn about the world. I do not know about speed... speedy... speedsters! Yes, that is the world. I know they are extremely fast, have high metabolisms, and eat a lot, but that is all I have learned."

Irie West has posed:
"Yeah, six. I think," Irie says. "I redid the math because when I came back in time it was around my birthday, but I didn't leave back then so it wasn't an exact match to the date," she says, totally forgetting that Tara is there and /does not know/ about her time traveling. "I could still be five, though. I think I'll celebrate my sixth next March. Math and time travel is hard."

She nods to Tara. "Yeah. Most speedsters age normally, but I'm kind of a special case, since I gestated /in/ the speed force. I think I have a greater connection to it than even my dad, but it goes wonky from time to time and does things to my body. Like make me grow into a teenager."

She hops off the table, taking a swig of the water. "I guess we can't use this as an excuse to skip class, then?" she asks hopefully.

Madison Evans has posed:
"Oh, good. I didn't want to miss your birthday. I'd feel awful if I missed your birthday," Madison says firmly. Then she looks back to Tara as she declares brightly, "Me and Irie have decided that we're always going to be friends no matter what, umm, our relative ages end up bring. Age is just a number. You know?"
I mean, that's maybe a simplistic take on it, but the sentiment is nice, at least.
She pushes herself to her feet as she adds, "Don't we have Weird History next? Do you really want to miss Weird History?" Looking to Tara she adds, "Can you write us a note for class, please?"
Once the girls have their hall passes they'll be off - with a brief stop at their locker to pick up trade out some of their books.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Tara shakes her head as offers each of them a white card with a red cross on the front of it,then points one clawed finger toward the door.

"Not to skip class, only to explain why you were late," she says softly, though still smiling. "Give your teacher's the card, they will know what it means."
