Winding Down
Date of Scene: 05 September 2021
Location: Roof - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: A bird and a Bart banter.
Cast of Characters: Kian, Bart Allen

Kian has posed:
The simple fact is, the last several weeks have been tiring, and the one thing Kían has wanted most is some down time.
Which ultimately leaves him on the roof of the Tower—a favorite place of his—sprawled out face-down on a deck chair, wings splayed out to his sides, trying to make himself fall asleep.
    And so far, failing.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen has decided to come check on things at the tower.  The young man figured start at the top and work his way down.  So up the side of the building, he comes and comes over the top with a "Hey guys."  He sees Kian laying there and says, "Oops didn't mean to disturb you."  He looks over, wondering, do bird men sunbath?

Kian has posed:
Birdmen do sunbathe, as it happens, although Kían seems perfectly willing to give up on that task and roll over on his side.  "Oh, kié Bart.  No, you are not disturbin' me.  I was jus' lyin' down an' relaxin' a little.  There are so few chances to do that, it seems."
The alien seems less startled than normal by the speedster's appearance.  Can it be that he's getting used not only to being an Earth bird, but to being a Titan?
"I haf not seen you for a while.  You are well?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods his head and says, "Yeah, all is okay, been busy with life on the other side of things, work school and such.  How you been doing?" he will ask as he finds a seat.

Kian has posed:
"I am… well enough," Kian says after a bit of a pause.  "This worl' iss a challenge, but I am gettin' use to it.  It helps that I haf frien's an' family among the Titans."
He smirks slightly.  "I sometime wonder if goin' back to my worl' would be more of a shock than stayin' on this one, now."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says, "Going to grab a drink and maybe a snack, want something?  Maybe you can tell me some about your world while we munch?"

Kian has posed:
"Purple Kool-Ade?" Kian asks, "if you can find it.  There shoul' be some in the refrig-rater in the main hall.  An' I will be happy to talk about my worl'.  I do not know if it will make any more sense to you than Eart' makes to me, but I am still happy to talk about it," he finishes with a smile.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will zoom off, and is soon back, with a pitcher of grape Kool-Ade, and a couple other pitchers with ice and water in them to make other purple flavors if needed.  There is a stack of packages on the table next to them, and about twenty bags of chips, and a couple six-packs of sodas.  "So, did it look roughly like Earth—green trees, blue water and skys, etc.?"

Kian has posed:
"I… a bit?" Kían answers dubiously, regarding the suddenly-appearing Kool-Ade with, well, more equanimity than he used to, and he pours himself a cup.  "I think our plan's were a slightly diff'ren' green, but it iss so hard to say.  Our skies were blue, that iss the nature of a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere.  An' water iss water iss water.  My home was border on a lake, it was beautiful to go flyin' over.  An'…"  Here, Kían's voice drops almost to a conspiratorial whisper.  "…an' I think our air was cleaner.  There are thin's I smell in Eart' air that I do not remember from home."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods his head and says, "Probably people of Earth were not the best at keeping the environment clean, till about the mid 2500s, and then it was more so they could keep using things than the environment like it should be.  But there are some nice place, you ever tried any of the mountain areas, where there are not many people?  Maybe should take you to see the Savage Land."
Bart Allen hmmms and adds, "Or it could just be the cow farts?  Did you have cows?"

Kian has posed:
"I haf not gone far from the Tower, excep' for gettin' pulled into Tar… Tar-tar-us.  An' I sometimes go up to Happy Harbor for more lessons in Ingliss… nnh.  In Engliss."  Well, close enough.
"We live wit' nature on our worl's.  We do not impose ourselfs on it.  If the "savaj lan'" iss cleaner an' more pristine, maybe I woul' like to see it."
He tilts his head inquisitively.  "I think I know what a cow iss, but what iss a fart?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen smirks a bit and says, "Well I am sure you have smelt some after the pizza parties, but it is when there is a gas build up inside a person and it comes out their rear.  It is like a butt burp."  He chugs a soda, and lets out a large burp.  "Like that but usually not as loud, smellier, and out of the butt.  There are lots of names for them: farts, flatulence, tooting, pass gas, cut the cheese, barking spiders, poot," he offers.

Kian has posed:
Kían blinks, once.  "I am not going to ask about that ever again," he says.  Yes, that explained it.  No, he wishes he'd never asked.  It's not a 'polite society' thing, and for the most part Kían is nothing but polite.
"But yis, for the mos' part, Eart' iss not too diiferen' from Kyshán.  I think the gravity here iss a little stronger, an' so the atmosphere iss probably a little thicker… but that iss only a guess.  I do not haf measuremen's, unfortunately."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit and says, "I am sure we could get you some if you wanted.  So, are all the people back home bird people and if so same type of birds, or are their different types of bird species people and if so, do you all get along?"

Kian has posed:
"Oh, no, we are all one people, the Akiár," Kían says, and although he's still stretched out on the deck chair, his bearing straightens proudly.  "Wing color does not mean anythin', excep' when the wings are white.  That iss almos' entirely only within the imperial line."
His wings spread and fold.  "My colors are not uncommon.  My tenár, my… what iss the Eart' word?  My lover there has red wings.  But excep' for imperial white, we are all the same."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and says, "So, sorta more like hair color than skin color here on Earth.  We eventually get better at that," he tells the other man.  "So, your world is ruled by kings and queens?"

Kian has posed:
Kían nods once.  "Yis, we haf a q'Tar, an em-press now.  The imperial family, they are raise to rule wisely.  Or they do not succeed to the throne."  He seems strangely sure of that.
He glances at himself—coppery, ruddy skin.  "What does skin color haf to do wit' anythin'?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over.  "And sadly some people think less of others cause of it, sorta like how some people thing less of folks cause they are mutants, or this or that.  Mankind does not get along well with itself," he tells the other man.  "We are getting better though. Eventually there will even be a hero team of earth with people from all over the universe, even one of your race.  He is colored mostly like you."

Kian has posed:
Kían looks up and blinks once.  "Iss there?  I will be surprise if they are a descenden' of mine.  I do not plan to haf children.  I would not wan' any child of mine to haf to deal wit' my rhy'thar… sorry, my powers.  They haf not made my life any easier."
He pauses, and takes a thoughtful sip of his Kool-Ade, and adds impishly, "But they haf definitely made my life more interestin'."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to the other man and a brow raises.  "Oh, your powers are not all just things your race can do?  What powers are just yours, I assume flying and such is something you all do?"

Kian has posed:
Kían shakes his head.  "Oh, no.  All my people haf wings, and all my people haf the min'-touch.  Those are not powers, those are normal."
    For certain definitions of 'normal'.
"My rhy'thar iss the energy manipulatin', the atomic an' nuclear forces.  Rhy'thar'yw are very rare.  I am the firs' with a major rhy'thar in about a century."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says, "Well if it is rare, and your the first big one in so long, why would you be worried as much about your kids, sounds like it would be a few generations before it was strong again."

Kian has posed:
Kían looks down.  "I do not wan' to take the chance.  I coul' not do that to my own chil'.  I know how havin' this power has changed my life.  Very little of it has been my own since they appear.  The only good that has come out of it iss that I was able to save the life of my family when they appear.  An' I do not even know how I did that, I jus' did it.  An' that was when my life stopped bein' my own.  Really," he continues, looking a little surprised at his own words, "it iss only since comin' to this worl' that I haf been able to just be myse'f."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to the other man and says, "Well, remember if you did take the chance and had kids, and they did have the powers, they would have an advantage, they would have you to help them understand them, and control them."

Kian has posed:
Kían shakes his head firmly.  "No.  Certainly not on Eart', if I change my min' an' choose to haf children, it can only be back on my worl', or the homeworl'.  An' I am much too young to think about havin' children yet anyway."
He sighs, and takes a long drink, and refills his cup.  "An' anyway, if I change my min', I want any children of mine to be jus' plain normal Akiár."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen shrugs a bit and says, "Sorry if I seem to press, just family is important to me, and mine are connected with our powers, heck two of my cousins you know well enough," he offers in explanation.  "So do others have different types of powers on your world?"

Kian has posed:
"No, as far as I know, I am the only one on either worl' with a major rhy'thar," Kían says with as much certainty as he has.  "They are not common like they are on Eart'.  I do not know why that iss, unless it iss because Eart' people are less careful wit' this planet.  There are things in the air, I can smell them sometimes, that probably should not be there."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit could be the issue. We will have to make a trip to the savage land for sure." He admits, and opens the chips, and offers the other some. the bag has Japanese writing on it.

Kian has posed:
Kían waves away the chips with a friendly, "Thanks, no.  I think I would like to see this 'savage land'… although I do not know that I like the word 'savage'."  He grins weakly.  "Haf you not got a peaceful lan' I could visit?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen grins and says, "Not a lot of those, no, but it is called the Savage Land as it has dinos and other animals that people thought were extinct till they found it.  I am thinking I might try to find a giant snail for my terrarium.

Kian has posed:
Kían blinks again.  "Dinos?  What are dinos?  I hope they are small an' like to be petted.  There were some rut'yw around my home that I use to feed, and were very nearly entirely tame.  I miss them, they were a lot of fun."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen says, "There are some small ones, but I don't know about tame.  People think it is what our birds evolved from.  They are lizards, and range from ones that could fit in this bag, to ones that could not fit in this building.  If you want some pets, you could find something here tame, to keep you company, or I could take you to the zoo sometime to see the animals, but you can't normal touch them, or take them home, would have to be when I was working to sneak you in if you wanted and maybe could pet some of them."

Kian has posed:
"Oh.  Rut'yw are… nnh.  I do not know how to describe them.  Smallish furry things, wit' a glidin' membrane.  They are not lizards."  Kían sounds vaguely disappointed.  "But I woul' like to see them, I think.  Especially if birds come from them.  I never haf study ancien' life, I spen' all my time on math an' physics."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will pull up his phone and brings up a picture of a sugar glider.  "Something like this?  We have them here on Earth and they are somewhat of a common pet, if you want one."

Kian has posed:
Kían peers closely.  "A little?  But about like this," he says, holding his hands about a foot apart.  "An' more gray, an' markin's aroun' their eyes.  Like from the ship that brought everyone back from bein' stuck in another universe, the little furry one, Rocket?  A little like that.  But not exactly.  But a little."
    Yeah, that was clear….

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit and says, "Well I think this is as close as we got here, if you want to see them we can go sometime," he offers.

Kian has posed:
"I think I woul' like that a lot.  I miss the little animals aroun' my home.  I would feed them."  Kían chuckles.  "It was not very long before I had a lot of rut'yw around," he admits, and adds, "Maybe that iss why I like bein' wit' Gar and' Terry.  They remin' me a little of my little frien's, in their own ways."
The birdman gets up, and stretches, and drains off his Kool-Ade.  "An' now," he says, "I haf put off my studies too long.  I haf enjoy talkin' wit' you, Bart.  Let me know when we can see the di-nos."
