Clarice's Search Continues...
Date of Scene: 12 September 2021
Location: Tara Tsabedze - Room 601
Synopsis: Clarice seeks advice from Tara.
Cast of Characters: Clarice Ferguson, Tara Tsabedze

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Like a particularly tenacious rottweiler, Clarice determinedly continues her search to 'solve' her sibling's medical problem.
Or maybe she's just distracting herself from her worry over Lydia.
...why not both? Having been invited over by Tara, she teleports to a nearby alleyway, and walks the short distance to the hotel, and Tara's room there. Rapping at the door, she waits with all the patience she can muster fo the door to open. Admittedly, that's not much patience, but she magenta-hued mutant does at least try as she shifts from one foot, to her other.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Only a few moments after the knock, Tara opens the door and offers Clarice a broad smile.

"Please, come in Clarice," she offers sweetly. "Make yourself at home."

She steps back slightly so Clarice can enter, then closes the door behind her. "Can I get you something to drink? I have a few soda choices, as well as hot water for tea if you prefer that over coffee."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Umm - coffee would be fine. Thanks," Clarice replies, flashing Tara a smile. "I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I wanted to get a, well, magical medical perspective on something I've been looking into," she explains. "Not sure if you'll know anything about this sort of thing - but if you could point me in the right direction..." she remarks as she steps in, glancing around at the living space. Robert has Tara set up pretty nicely in here, doesn't he?

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
The french press comes out to make the coffee, making the hot water a dual purpose kind of thing.

"You can take as much time as you need," she comments, scooping coffee into the press then adding the hot water.

"This will take as long as it needs, so you need not worry about my time," she offers another smile before she puts the press on a tray with two cups, cream, sugar, some napkins and a spoon for stirring. She carries the tray over to the coffee table, gesturing to the couch. "Have a seat and explain what you are needing."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Sure. Thanks," Clarice agrees, sitting on the couch and taking a deep breath. She lets it out slowly before trying to explain.
"Okay, so - I know a mutant, who- a female that believe-" Yeah, she still struggles to explain this stuff naturally, and easily. Give the girl a little more time. "Well, I think the correct term is a trans man? A mutant who was born female, but is actually a boy. And Sh- He. He wants a male body, and I was wondering if you knew of anyways to achieve that goal. What it would take, if there would be any pain, or recovery time, or- well. Those sorts of things."

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
The coffee takes a little time to brew, though not as long as a coffee maker, so Tara takes a moment to add a little sugar and cream to one of the cups while it does it's thing.

"You know a transgender male," she says simply. "It is quite natural for a transgender to want the correct body Clarice, it comes with being born in the wrong body. Do you know the usual process that a transgender usually has to go through to achieve their goals?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I've been trying to read about," Clarice admits. "Hormone therapies, and surgeries, and the like. Some of the surgeries are more effective than others. None of that's been done, yet. They- he..." Yeah, she's just using //all// the pronouns still, "hadn't even told anyone until recently, but it's causing him... pain, being in the wrong body. Not physical pain, I mean, just-" She lets out a sigh.
"I want to figure out what options there are," she says simply. "We're looking into what options mutant powers might give us. And there's plenty online about the traditional medical options. But I was hoping you'd know who could give advice on magical options." As she's talking - she turns her attention towards pouring herself a cup of coffee as well - giving herself to focus on, as she pours in the cream, and the sugar.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Pushing the plunger down slowly on the French press, Tara pours coffee into Clarice's cup first, then into her own.

"Traditional surgeries are hard on the body, very hard," she explains, taking one of the two spoons to stir her coffee. "They work of course, but the transgender person requires hormones for the rest of their lives to maintain the new body that was made for them. It is possible, through some mutants, to 'rearrange' the body with their powers, but the same problem remains that hormones are required for the rest of their lives."

She pauses to tap the spoon lightly against the edge of the cup, then set it back on the tray. "The parts of a body that produce the hormones naturally for men are in male bodies, that is obvious I know, but I say this because for this to be a true change, that is what is truly needed. Those of more normal magics may tell you there is nothing magical that can be done, some might say there are spells that could change the need for hormones, and still others may say there is a little of this and a little of that that can be done."

Picking the coffee cup and saucer up, she holds it for a moment to add, "Because my magics are so different, because I specialize in healing, mending and rebuilding the body, I can tell you that my magic could in fact build a male body from a female, naturally."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"You can do it?" Clarice asks - surprise in her voice. She hadn't really expected that answer. I mean - this was entirely different than re-growing a limb - or an organ. Wasn't it? "You can- you can change her- his body completely? Into a male one?" she asks. "One that- errm... functions normally?" Was that a little embarrassment there? Oh, absolutely.
"Does it hurt, changing someone's body like that? Does it take time to recover?" Even with the coffee freshly poured - she was staring at Tara so intently, she seems to have forgotten about it.

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
A small sip of the coffee is taken before the cup is set back on the table. Tara's feline eyes watch Clarice intently, reading between the lines, picking up the changes in her tone and her body language. Whomever this was was someone close to her, that was becoming more and more evident.

"I have never done it before, but the way that I see it I can regrow organs and limbs, or create them entirely. A child born with only one lung, I have given a second one. Obviously I will practice the methods on a few animals before I fully say that I can do this, and it will also allow me a chance to know what might be needed for it to work."

Tara sits back slightly, turning a touch toward Clarice, "It does not hurt, because I do not allow it to hurt. Recovery time will not exist, as the changes will not be surgical. If I can do this, he will not require hormones, he will not require surgery, but I need time to determine if I am capable of it."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"...I see," Clarice answers, sinking back into the cushions of the couch. She lets out a quiet sigh, not sure if she likes the idea of Theo being //the first person// to undergo something like this. But is it really her choice?
Remembering her coffee, she picks it up to take a cautious sip, her gaze directed down on the table in front of herself. "Well," she finally remarks. "I mean- I'd have to talk to him first, anyways. See what he wants. If he wants to try something so new, or if we can find a mutant who can do it, or if he wants to go the traditional medical route..." Honestly, though, sounded painful, and not always very effective. "You'd be willing to try this, though? Once you've figured out if you can? Are you aware of any other specific magical interventions?"

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Tara nods, offering a soft smile, "I am, and if he chooses the more traditional medical route, as that is his choice, I am willing to heal him afterwards to shorten the recovery time." Collecting her coffee she takes another small sip and a moment to think.

"What sort of interventions? Other users of magic who might be able to do something like this?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice nods her head. "Yes. Do you know of any other magical healers who've tried to help a trans individual before? I mean - you're not the only person who heals with magic. Right?" she points out. "...and I appreciate your willingness, truly. No matter what decisions are made. I mean - they're not my decisions to make, ultimately. Obviously."

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Tara slowly shakes her head. "I do not know any personally, but I do have a few contacts in the magical circles, no pun intended, that I can speak to. There very well may be someone out there who had done it before. It is not a common thing, and some believe that magic should be limited to what is, and not change it. Thankfully, Goddess Moon has no such beliefs or limits to my magic. So long as I am doing good and the right thing, She does not place rules or limitations on it."

A soft sigh is heard then, "I wish I had more contacts, but I do know a place I can go to ask around."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I didn't know people believed that... But then I know very little about magic," Clarice admits. "I don't want to take more of your time than is necessary - as I believe your time is very valuable. But I think it's important to find a solution for my... acquaintance, as they're- he's in a fair amount of pain over it. I don't want him to suffer anymore."

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Reaching over, Tara lays her hand lightly on Clarice's shoulder.

"The first thing you may want to do is stop calling this person an acquaintance," she offers softly. "It is obvious whomever this is means a great deal to you, and thus are more than that. In regards to my time, you can take as much as you need, as I said."

Taking her hand back, another sip of her coffee is taken before she says, "If you wish, however, I will not keep you. There is research to be done, and questions to be asked of those I can find to ask. A few I would not bother with this, as I am certain their arrogance would out weigh the depth of the situation. Speak to your "friend", find out what he wants, in the mean time I will practice."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"He is," Clarice admits quietly. "But he hasn't told the truth to very many people yet, so- It doesn't seem right that I should say it, you know? There are a few specific people I was told I could speak to about it..." And obviously Tara wasn't on that list. She lets out a sigh before she admits, "I hadn't really heard of the whole idea of 'trans' people before, so- It's been a steep learning curve for me." After a final sip, she sets down the coffee then adds, "I can't thank you enough. You know how to contact me - if you learn more."

Tara Tsabedze has posed:
Tara sets her coffee down to stand. In her culture you show your guest out, you don't just let them wander around. Admittedly, it's a small apartment and the front door is /right/ there, but culture is culture.

"I understand fully," she nods. "Would not be right to give someone else's secrets. If you have any other questions, or your friend has any, feel free to contact me."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"I will - thank you," Clarice promises - repeating her gratitude. She nods her head to Tara politely and then, with the feline woman in tow - makes her way towards the door and out of the small apartment.
