Phoebe In Wonder-land
Date of Scene: 26 March 2020
Location: Courtyard: Themysciran Embassy
Synopsis: Phobe Comes To The Themysciran Embassy And Talks Training With Cassie And Diana
Cast of Characters: Cassie Sandsmark, Phoebe Beacon, Diana Prince

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Normally, Cassie is dressed in her professional clothes at the Themysciran Embassy; something more fitting to the Assistant to the Ambassador. But today, she's in her Wonder Girl costume because it's anything but a regular work day. After communicating through Red Robin, there's a young woman arriving at the Embassy today to begin self-defense training, with Cassie as the teacher. So, Cassie is relaxing in the Embassy Gardens, casualy waiting for her student to arrive, while the business of diplomacy goes on throughout the rest of the Embassy.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe Beacon had only rarely ever left Gotham. She had never been in anything so horribly proper as an embassy, and it felt strange to show up with her gray jacket over work-out gear and sturdy shoes. She hadn't had the chance to inquire what one *does* wear when you go to visit the Amazons -- and so, when she arrived it was a little awkward trying to parse out who he was here to peak with -- especially when she got a chance to see all the pottery displaying Greek Mythology.

She'd have to come back and ask questions another day for that!

So, Phoebe Beacon, 'The Beacon of Gotham' walks into the garden courtyard, wearing brightly coloed tie-dye workout joggers and a wifebeater-style tank top in black, her hair carefully braided in and out of itself to prevent hand-holds.

Just like she was walking into the dojo for free-workout time.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
When Phoebe enters the Gardens, Cassie sets aside her bottle of water and moves to greet the young woman being shown in by another Embassy worker. "Hi, Phoebe..." she greets in a cheerful tone. "I'm Cassie, and it's nice to meet you. Red Robin told me a lot about you, and I'm really happy to help you learn self-defense." She holds out her hand for Phoebe to shake. "Diana's also been told about you, and she's very impressed with your Gotham blog. Those positive stories you put out...those are really special, and it's a good way to inspire others. Diana said she'd try to come meet you, but she may still be busy with a meeting with the Markovian Embassy. But she'll stp by if she can."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The teenaged rookie superhero gives a bright grin as she reaches to grasp Cassie's hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Cassie. So, yeah. I'm Phoebe, highschooler by day, blogger after school, apparently not-so-secret fighter by night." she greets the other girl, and gives a soft breath out as she looks around the embassy.

"I'm going to admit, never thought I'd be visiting an embassy to get to a fight club." she jokes, and then stammers a moment "Is... is that an okay joke to make? I don't want to offend anyone."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana has been unfortunately busy today, so she's not prepared to join any training impromptu sessions. But she does have a moment in the now to be happening past the doors that look out onto the gardens to notice the two young woman outside within it. Now that Spring is arriving, the gardens are starting to look fresh, renewed and filling with life again. With the weather improving, it's going to hopefully be a good year to be out there in that quiet green space.

The doors are quietly opened and Diana steps out into a shadowed part of the patio on the edge of the garden space. She's wearing a white sleeveless top and a matching white skirt with simple heeled shoes. Her dark hair is tied back behind her head in a bun and she's got a silver necklace around her throat. She smiles to the two girls as she steps out into the sunlight on the edge of where they are.

"I hope that I am not interrupting." The Princess says in her smoky, foreign accented, voice. "It looks as though you are just starting?" She asks, her eyes going from one of their faces to the others.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie smiles and laughs at Phoebe. Not in a harsh or humiliating way, but trying to put the other girl at ease. "You're sort of correct. Yes, Themyscira is a rather militant society, but one with a very strong set of ethics and a firm code of honor." She guides Phoebe over to a seat to let her relax for a bit. "And it's not offending; it's a rather common perception about the Amazons. And part of the reason for this Embassy. Not to mention your training; we want to change the misconceptions that people have, and bringing in 'outsiders' like you to experience our ways first hand is a part of the outreach that Diana wants to foster. One of the first lessons that Diana gave to me years ago when I started as Wonder Girl is the first lesson for you to start with. It's a Themysciran maxim about appropriate use of force and excalation. 'Do not kill if you can maim. Do not maim if you can wound. Do not wound if you can subdue. Do not subdue if you can pacify. And do not raise a hand until you have tried talking.'"

Then, Diana herself appears, and Cassie stands up and gives her a smile and a wave. "And it looks like Diana was able to finish with her meeting in time. Of course you're not intruding." Motioning between the two, Cassie facilitates introductions. "Phoebe Becon, may I introduce you to Princess Diana of Themyscira. Diana, Phoebe; the woman from Gotham that I was telling you about. She's here for the start of her self-defense traiing with me."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe has gone to sit, enjoying very much the maxim -- it made sense, and worked very well for her own powers. She has already sized Cassie up, guessing where blows might land -- but then knowing Cassie is Wonder Girl makes the dark-haired, dark-skinned young lady blink, and she drops her jaw to ask a question when Diana appears.

And she snaps to a stand. Her eyes are wide, and she feels suddenly quite shy as she breathes out.

"Y-your highnes, Ambassadorest?" she stammers a moment.

"Admittedly nothing in my public school education prepared me for meeting royalty, so please forgive my lack of class or proper decorum?" she states, looking to Cassie, and then back to Diana.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana looks from Cassie, to Phoebe and she has a soft smile show to the young woman who's new here. She's used to reactions like this, similar to this, and so she responds to it as she often does by stepping toward Phoebe and extending her hand to the younger one. "Please, you needn't worry about such formalities." She says. "Just call me Diana. Much to the chagrin of my mother, I prefer my name alone, over titles. At least in moments like this." She glances to Cassie then back to Phoebe. "Where we are together, in a private and relaxed moment, yes?"

The princess will then take a step to the side and look to both of them. "Cassie /did/ tell me all about you, at least an over view. I am impressed. Truly. You seem to have a heart set in the right direction, especially important in a city such as Gotham which needs more citizens to look up to such as yourself."

There's a smile there on the Princess' red hued lips. "You are our guest here, this is your place to enjoy now as much as it is ours. Consider yourself on Themyscira itself, as this is sovereign ground of our people." She looks to Cassie then. "What plans have you for Phoebe today?" She asks then as she moves to take a seat on one of the benches and cross her legs at the knees.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie smiles as Diana interacs with Phoebe; she has such a tallent at dispelling the mystique and majesty surrounding her and putting people at ease and treating them as if they've been freinds for years. "Mostly, foundational stuff," she replies to Diana. "Basic sances, but mostly talking with her about the Amazon philosophy, answering any questions she might have. Light stuff to start with, but things she needs in order to proceede correctly."

Cassie turns to Phoebe, focusing on her. "So," she starts with an easy smile. "What are you expecting from all of this? What are your goals to achieve with the training? And are there any questions you have for us? Feel free to ask anything. Like I said, part of this is to start correcting misconceptions that everyday people have about Themyscira and the Amazons. I can assure you that we won't be offended by any question you have. You'll find that we're as much about knowledge and understanding as fighting; perhaps more so."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gives a smile, and she shakes Diana's hand. "Diana, then. A pleasure to meet your acquaintence." she gives a bright smile, and looks back to Cassie, and feels severely underdressed in her workout clothes.

"Well, to be honest I didn't know what to expect, Cass. I was split between having to dodge arrows and starting with something like yoga." she smiles, and she shrugs slightly "This... is actually probably only the third time I've ever left Gotham, so though I may mis-step a couple of times, you'll find I have little preconception -- but I do love the idea of knoledge and understanding more than fighting..." she looks to her hands a moment "My... talents don't make me particularly good at hand to hand. And I can't shut them down."

Diana Prince has posed:
A quick and little nod is given to Cassie's response to her before Diana looks over to Phoebe to listen to her reply as well. After a moment, and another glance back to Cassie, Diana speaks up. "Well, the goal with all of this, Phoebe is ultimately to help you. You are attempting to take on a lot of responsibility in your young age, Cassie has taken note of the good in-which you are pushing to accomplish and because of that... we are offering ourselves, our resources, and everything that comes with it to aid you." She shows a light smile then from her place on the stone bench.

"All of this is meant to become a new resource for you to take, to consider as a place of support. Only if you desire it too, of course. Otherwise you can just enjoy your time here, I hope."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie nods along with Diana's words. "Exactly. You determine how far you want to go with this. We won't force you to learn anything you don't wish to or are opposed to. The only thing that we will as of you is to commit to what training you want. While there's lots of knowledge that accompanies Amazon training, there's also a great deal of physical work as well. My job is to help you achieve what you want, at a pace you can accomplish. I'm sort of at one extreme; I wanted to become an Amazon once I started as Diana's partner, and I was able to achieve that goal, recently. But, that level comes with training and responsibilities that you might not want. It's totally your choice; we're just here to support that choice. And even with the training you recieve here, it doesn't mean that you have to go out and be a hero alongside Red Robin and the others of Gotham. You get to choose your own life and your own path." Cassie gives Phoee a reassuring smile, then sits back in the chair. "So, how about you tell us about your powers? I know they have something to do with healing, and you mentioned that you can't turn them off?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:

"Well.. my dad always said where there's a Beacon, there's Hope." Phoebe gives a grin, and turns to Cassie, then she gives a slight, sad smile.

"Well. You heard correct, I heal. Myself, others... you might even feel it now, being close to me. Just a... general good feeling. Like a first step into a sunny cool morning." Phoebe replies, and she squeezes her hand at her side a moment, and produces a ball of light. It is brilliant blue-white, akin to sunlight.

"Red Robin met me when a bullet passed through my stomach, and he... kinda saw it get pushed back out, and the skin knit. I set a broken rib and fixed a concusion most of the way with a touch and a few minutes. I've made people get over flus and fevers and once even reversed an asthma attack -- but that one was kinda accidental, I didn't know what I was doing." she admits with a wince.

"But when I touch someone, I heal them, ever so bit -- but it also wears me down quicker. I... don't know that much more about my powers. I don't know where they came from, because I'm not a mutant. I don't know if they're hereditary because I don't know where I'm actually from. I just kinda... am."

Diana Prince has posed:
From what Cassie says, to what Phoebe says, Diana listens and regards both of them in turn before she audibly 'hmms' at that from Phoebe. "You do not know where you came from?" She asks then, just to clarify. "I would gladly help figure that out for you, with you, if you would like." She offers before glancing between them both again. "Those powers are impressive though. The ability to 'heal others' is no small feat. Such gifts are widely sought after. Why... there are a lot of sick and injured people in this world. So on one hand, you do very much have a gift there. But it is a gift that I warn you to be careful about who you tell, how many people find out. It could lead to burdens for you that you may not wish to have thrust upon you. Such as people coming to find /you/ for a healing attempt. It could get invasive, at best, intrusive at worst. Dangerous, at most worst."

A breath is taken then before Diana looks to Cassie. "I would suggest going easy with her on the hand to hand, combat elements of what we do here, at least for now. Perhaps take her to observe Galatea and Adrastea during one of their sessions tonight. They do not hold back, though... So do not think that we would ask you to fight like they do." She says to Phoebe then with a small grin. "Merely it would be potentially a fun event to watch. But again, should you desire combative training, we can offer that too. Otherwise? Well... yes, we are here to help you, Miss Phoebe."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie listens to Phoebe's story, and she gives the young woman a sympathetic nod. "I know that feeling, of not knowing your full history. I had my mom, but I grew up without a father. Then, it turns out, my father is Zeus. Like the actual God." She smiles and shrugs in a 'what can you do?' kind of way. "But yes, we can help you find out that hidden history, if you want. And Red Robin also has a lot of investigative resources as well, if you ask him."

"That's a good suggestion," Cassie says to Diana. "Maybe some basic handwork along with the stances." Returning her attention to Phoebe, Cassie coninues her questioning. "Have you ever had any kind of self-defense training before? Besides your healing power, do you have any other enhanced ability? Especially in terms of strength or reaction time? And how tired do you get when you heal someone? Have you ever had a lesser healing effect because you were already tired or fatigued when you tried?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I mean, as long as there's no super-strength I could probably get a few good tosses in..." Phoebe replies with a slight grin as the talk turns to self-defense, and BeeBee has never felt to happy to get off the subject of her past -- probably not nearly as interesting as their pasts!

"Ah, eight years training in Aikido with MMA mixed in a bit at the end, I can ue a broom stick pretty handily. No other powers that I think of -- man it would be nice to have like, better-than-average stamina though, that's what seems to take the hit when healing." she states, and she stretches her shoulder slightly.

"And... I don't really know. Most of my healing practice has been on plants, with the exception of the first time when I kinda broke out, hurt some guys and healed the older man they were beating up on. I slept for three days."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana rises up to her feet and she stands there now at full height just over six feet due to the heeled shoes she's wearing. "Stamina can be boosted with intensive cardio exercises. It would be a wise choice to make, though that can be challenging for some to dedicate themselves to. It sounds as though you do have a fair amount of foundation to build off of though, with that many years of Aikido experience."

Diana glances then to Cassie and shows her a soft smile. "Well then. I have to be somewhere for another meeting this afternoon, but I should be back in an hour or two. I would hope to check in on you both if you are still at it here, or near by."

She turns toward the front of the Embassy, but pauses as she faces Phoebe. "Do let me know if you would like me to help you find out more about your origins, I would be very happy to assist with that. But even still, you are accomplishing a lot of good already. Keep it up." Diana walks past them both now and offers Cassie a light pat on the shoulder as she goes.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"Eight years of Aikido & MMA?" Cassie asks. She's not incredulous of the other girl's experience, it's more that she's a bit upset that Tim thought that Phoebe needed training..."Okay, live steel practices it is, then..." She smiles at Phobe and gives her a wink. "Seriously though, you'll be fine. You've already got a solid foundation and should find what we do eaasy to pick up. And Diana's right about the endurance building. Do you run or jog? That's the best way to increase your stamina."

Cassie is thinking about a work-out plan for Phoebe when DIana prepares to leave. "Allright, Diana. I'll keep you updated if we're done by the time you're back." She turns back to Phoebe and adds, "Of course, you're welcome to stay the night here. I can have a guest room prepared for you while we get started on the basics. It's your choice."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Thank you for your advice, Diana, I'll take it to heart. Yours too, Cassie." she gives a bright smile, and then she considers, stretches her fingers a moment and sinks into a ready stance.

"I dunno if runing and jogging will do much for my power stamina, but I do hop between buildings every once in a while. Seems like everybody's got a cool way of getting around 'cept me!" she grins slightly. "What'd you do for breakfast if I stayed over? I'll have to get my mom's permission. Haven't slept over a friend's house in like, five years."
