Cast of Characters: Otto Octavius, Peter Parker

Otto Octavius has posed:
It's been about a week and a half since the hospital massacre had hit the news... and only a few days since Otto was on camera at a local university kidnapping a student in broad daylight, his tentacles allowing him to make an escape across the city. He disappeared somewhere in downtown, and hasn't been heard from since... until now.

Word over the police bands has a man with four 'additional metal arms' having just broken into a secured Oscorp lab... but literally tearing the door apart and walking in.

It's been several minutes since it started, and any attempts to get inside have been blocked by debris stuck inside the entries. It seems the doctor has no interest in a fight, so there's that, at least.

But it's only a matter of time before SWAT is called...

It's a fairly small building, all things considered. There's the main entrance, side entry, windows, and a rooftop entry. The main entries have been blocked off, but there's no way Otto can block off the windows inside... not that he needs to. This isn't a warehouse, there are probably funneling corridors inside with debris blocking where the windows are too.

Peter Parker has posed:
Anything on the police bands with certain keywords gets flagged and highlighted. One of them is OSCORP. The other one is OCTAVIUS.

When both of them pop up in the Spider-Comm system, Peter's pizza break comes to an abrupt end. Ten seconds later, he is off through the window, and then the trees around the backyard, and then out of Queens, heading for the downtown area at flank speed.

Barney Stimson has the "Crazy/Hot Chart." Spidey has his own chart in the database, only his is the "Crazy/Stupid" Chart. And Dr. Octopus was high on the Crazy Index, but low on the Stupid index...so he was going to have to be careful...

Otto Octavius has posed:
The rooftop isn't guarded at all, and leads down into a stairwell... with the 'top floor' being a catwalk over the main lab of the building, and the other two floors getting off at corridors leading to secondary labs and corridors.

The main lab is accessible by those catwalks or by the first floor, depending on what one wants to do... of course, one could also make their own exit into the main lab area through the walls.

Spider-Man will come upon a police cordon around the building... it's light, and he can easily tell from their positioning that if Otto leaves, he can just use the rooftop exit to jump from one rooftop to another, and there's not much they can do about it.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man lands on the roof, soon finding the roof access.
And since it's Doc Ock who hates two-legged Spiders, he makes sure Otto hasn't upgraded the roof hatch with explosives.

Otto Octavius has posed:
There are no tripwires or pressure plates Spider-Man can see. He's only been here for a few minutes at most though... maybe he hasn't had time to setup traps?

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey exhaled softly and slipped inside. *Remember...Crazy, Not Stupid.* It was always dangerous to underestimate Doc Ock.

Spidey chose not to use the catwalk, but crawled along the ceiling, looking for Ock and his hostage. He had to make sure before he just jumped in. *Where are you, Otto...?* he asked mentally as he moved across the ceiling.

Otto Octavius has posed:
Otto is easily found below Spider-Man. There's no one else in the lab below him besides Doctor Octopus, whom has his tentacles making a mess of the lab. Judging by the torn apart nature of the area, he's looking for something specific.

He also doesn't see Spider-Man just yet as he goes through drawers, his tentacles continuing to pull them all out as his real hands search through them one at a time.

Of course, that begs the question; where are the lab staff? A lab this size should have a half dozen at least...

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey decides to descend slowly on a webline until he gets about 20 above Octavius's head, and about ten feet behind. That should give him enough time to deal with the arms.

Five seconds later, a voice that is VERY familiar to Otto sounds off behind and above him, "What's wrong, Doc? Lose your car keys?"

Otto Octavius has posed:
As Spider-Man descends, one of those tentacles turns towards him, a red 'eye' inside aiming right for him. Otto, for his part, just keeps on searching right up until Spider-Man speaks. "I had heard you were a pedantic one, 'Spider-Man'." Otto casually tells him, "But I didn't think you were that eager to test yourself against me."

As he continues pulling papers and other objects out of those dressers, "Is there something I can do for you, bug?" He asks, actually quite civilly. So far, those tentacles do nothing be keep aimed at Spider-Man. Seems like Otto is allowing Spider-Man the first move, if he's looking for a fight.

Suspicious...

Peter Parker has posed:
"Well, I'm curious about a few things, and I'm sure you have the answers. First things first, though. Where is the student you kidnapped?"

He doesn't move from his place yet, but the video recording option in the lens camera is on and rolling.

Otto Octavius has posed:
"She's safe, elsewhere." His back is still to Spider-Man, and he's still rummaging through the drawers.

Then, he gets up and turns around, looking right into those lenses, his goggles hide his eyes, but his expression of one is calm confidence. "I have my uses for her. You are Spider-Man, yes? I am Doctor Octopus." He brings his hands behind his back then, those tentacles remaining in a defensive formation around himself. "If you're concerned over her well being, she's perfectly healthy." He gives a cocky smile; does he find this situation amusing? It's hard to tell. "I'm a man of science, not wanton destruction."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods. "Yeah, I'm familiar with your work. However, your work USED to be more orthotic and prosthetic work and less kidnapping people. And yes, I AM concerned about her well-being, so why don't you be a little forthcoming and tell me where she is? I'll tell the cops outside, and they can go attend to her while we chat."

Otto Octavius has posed:
Those tentacles suddenly drop to the ground, and Otto seems poised to leap off the ground up to the ceiling from them. "I'm afraid I can't do that. She's an essential part of my new project; one that Oscorp never gave me the funding for." His eyebrows furrow as if he's focusing at Spider-Man, "You can have her when I'm done."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey sighs. "Yeah, that's the problem. She's not a volunteer if you shanghaied her. And right now, there are about thirty cops out there unwilling to wait until you are 'done' with her. And seriously, 'done with her?' That's textbook Evil Villain talk right there. So, I have a counter-offer. You tell me where she is. I tell the cops where she is. While they are making sure she is okay, you can tell me about this project of yours. You'd be surprised about my ability to keep up."

Otto Octavius has posed:
"I don't care. I'm done playing by the rules of others. That kept me under Oscorps thumb for years, and look where it got me." Otto sneers at Spider-Man. "I don't have time for this."

One of his tentacles gets up suddenly and shoots right for what looks like a large storage tank, it stops just short, but seems prepared to puncture it at a moments notice, "did you know this was a volatile materials lab? They were testing new armor composites, seeing how durable they were." He gives a side head nod to the tank, "That one is filled with a new form of heavy duty acid. I'll bet the police outside will love being test subjects."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man frowns. "Doc...that is NOT the way to talk to someone."

THWIPP!

The arm threatening the tank is suddenly YANKED back and webbed to a nearby load-bearing concrete pillar.
"You're stepping on my last bit of patience, Doc Ock. You have two options. We could fight, I would knock you silly, and then I would find out where the girl is. Or...we can skip the first two steps and you won't have to go to prison by way of the INFIRMARY."

Otto Octavius has posed:
"There's a third option." If Otto is frustrated by the sudden webbed up tentacle, he isn't showing it. Instead, he seems even MORE amused. "I go on my way, and you try to keep up."

The three tentacles remaining on the ground suddenly leap up into the air. One lashes out at the webbing around the pillar. The two free tentacles suddenly start grabbing lab equipment and desks at random, tossing them at Peter as Otto starts to back away.

Peter Parker has posed:
*HOLY HANNAH!* Spidey abruptly jumped to the side to dodge the lab table, then again to hop over the server, and suddenly it was an airborne obstable course.

"This is PR SUICIDE, DOC!" he yells, aware the man and his octoid orchestra was moving back towards a possible exit.

Otto Octavius has posed:
They just keep coming, those tentacles seem easily able to continue throwing everything in the area in rapidly succession at Spidey, and that tentacle lashing out at the pillar tears the webbing from the tentacle trapped with ease as he continues to back off.

Now, it's all four tentacles moving about, grabbing anything they can find to toss at him. Say what you will about Otto's state of mind, he is /really good/ with those things; they don't tire and there's plenty of 'ammo' to go around as Otto continues to make his way to the stairwell.

"You talk like I care anymore." Otto sneers back.

Peter Parker has posed:
Dangit, he was going to get to the stairwell before he could get close!
Okay...PLAN B.

As he dodged a file cabinet, the right web-shooter switched from a web-cartridge to a tracer-launcher. He had to wait until Doc Ock turned and he could tag him like a baby seal without him knowing it.

"Ocky, when I put my fist in your face, you are GOING to care, I promise you THAT!"

Otto Octavius has posed:
"You're just a bug that needs to be squashed." Otto sneers back as he indeed turns as he starts running for the stairwell, a few more choice objects in the lab thrown to distract as he does so...

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man had only a second to act. Fortunately, chance favors the prepared mind, and the moment Otto turned, Spidey fired, the tiny red spider closing its pincer-legs as it hits Otto's suit.

Then an office desk plows through where he was standing and he catches it before dropping it.

Dr. Octopus was gone.

Spider-Man brought up a new window in his HUD and saw the pinpoint of the GPS tracker moving through the alley beyond the wall.
Gone...but not forgotten.
