Date of Scene: 03 October 2021
Location: Rahne's Apt. - College House
Synopsis: It's under 9000! Wait, no. Rahne gets berated gently for talking without thinking. Gently.
Cast of Characters: Rahne Sinclair, Laxmi Mallick, Clarice Ferguson

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne was, at last mention, wide awake and wishing she was asleep. She drags Clarice along, ready to fall on the floor and collapse there. She knows that Clary prefers not-floors, but she's willing to adapt.

She isn't really paying a lot of attention to things though. This is home, apparently, though she isn't used to the space yet. She's hung mistletoe, which is weird before halloween, but maybe it's a Scots thing.

Laxmi Mallick has posed:
Clarice remains tucked in close against Rahne - gravitating naturally towards the bed in the room, even if she doesn't have any mischief in mind at the moment. She's remained silent for the walk - but there's something thoughtful on her expression, as she tries to sort out her thoughts - and how to approach the little thing niggling at her mind.
"Hey Rahne..." she remarks, as she drops into a seated position. "What you said to Logan, about Raven... You know she wouldn't like that, right?"
Just tackle it head on. That's usually the best way - right?

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne flops on the bed, sitting up so she can listen. She folds her left leg, foot up on her knee, and looks at Clarice. "Ah dinnee e'en remember wot ah said," she admits. It's like it was weeks ago, in her head. "Did ah do sommat stupid again?" She probably did, it's her default state lately.

Laxmi Mallick has posed:
"You told a little too much truth," Clarice says a bit wryly. "You told Logan that Mystique got captured and badly injured. She doesn't like showing signs of weakness - and it makes the Brotherhood seem more vulnerable. So... if something like that ever comes up, I'd rather you downplayed it, or avoided discussing it." She gives a shrug of her shoulders than adds, "I was going to tell him we went into rescue some mutants - and she ended up injured, but is recovering well and focusing on the strategy. It downplays the injury, and leaves the capture out of the picture. It implies she was injured during the op, without actually lying." It's a careful mincing of truth that - honestly - she doesn't ever expect to be a strength for Rahne.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne moues her lips, uncertain about this one. She takes Clarice's hand in her own, and listens. She nods, she waits. She doesn't know what to say.

Then she sits there, looking at Clarice as if expecting there to be more. So, with the uncertain pause, she tries to answer as best she can. "Es maybe somethin' we dinnae agree on?" she admits, which is one of the least surprises of the decade. Rahne doesn't like lying.

She sighs, she leans in and kisses Clarice on the cheek. "Guess y' forget, ah be part o' their team. Ah have a duty tae tell th' truth, as ah saw it."

Laxmi Mallick has posed:
"It's not a lie, though," Clarice answers. She lets out a sigh. "I know you're part of their team, and I'm not upset with you but... I think Mystique would be. She wouldn't want too many people knowing she was captured, knowing just how //badly// she was hurt. And just because you can tell them sometime - it doesn't mean you have to share everything you know." She presses her lips together for a moment before asking, "If you'd held that information back a little bit - would it do any harm to Xavier's, or the X-Men?"

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
White lies. Not her favourite topic, though Rahne knows the merit of not hurting another unnecessarily. She doesn't double down on her argument, having learned long ago that that is the easiest way to fuck up her life, get caught in things and be unable to back out. So she pauses, and honestly thinks.

"Ah thought I had a reason, at th' time. Dinnae remember it now." She thinks, then realizes that remembering isn't her strong suit. She nods, and errs on the side of love.

"Sometimes ah might need help, wi' this kind o' thing, Clary. Ah'm honestly kinda stupid on certain things." Not sadly, just an admission of reality. She's genius at some, but weak in others. "Y'll help me when ah need t' think better, maybe?"

Laxmi Mallick has posed:
"I'll try to," Clarice says easily, leaning her head against Rahne's an smiling that she was at least willing. "Just... try to remember that saying less it sometimes better - especially if it would make Mystique or the Brotherhood look vulnerable. The more people that know she's not at her best - the more people who may take this opportunity to make a go at her, you?"     She turns her head to give Rahne's cheek a kiss before adding, "I'd never expect you to lie to your friends. And I'd never expect you to hold back information if doing so would lead to harm for someone."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"I'm nae a complicated person, luv," Rahne says softly. "When et gets complex, ah flail. Like, a lot." She's taken to Americanisms pretty well, which is helpful in actually talking about things. "Et be one o' th' reasons ah still be in training. They know ah'm fine in combat now, but when it comes tae diplomacy ah'm wy over m' head."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"And I like you just the way you are," Clarice reassures the other woman, hugging her tighter for a moment. "But you know how I am, too. Pretty fanatical when it comes to protecting my people - and the Brotherhood. I owe them a lot, and we're just starting to accomplish... well, some real good in the world. Not that we didn't before, but- well. You know." She smiles wryly. The good they did before was inextricably mixed with the bad.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
With Rahne basically onboard, there seems to be nothing left but to flop over on the bed and sleep. Together. Not sleep together, that is entirely another issue. Though from the way Rahne cuddles it's understandable that sometimes you'd wonder.

"Ah'll apologize when I see her. an..sorry tae you too." Because Clarice is the Brotherhood, in her heart. And she doesn't want to hurt either one. Rahne's a good girl. Even if she is sometimes a bit gentle for the job that needs to be done.
