Synopsis: Daredevil and Quake take on a Friends of Humanity base following a SHIELD lead. What they discover there brings back memories from the past..
Cast of Characters: Daisy Johnson, Matthew Murdock

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Being part of the Secret Warriors, and leading them, means her times back home have been scarce at best. Nights spent at the Triskelion, or on a mission or three. Making reports (ugh) or even training for the various members of the group.

Welcome to level 5, Daisy Johnson!

One night when she is back home stars seem to be aligned for them to go out together, on their alter egos. A mission. The explanation is brief. A mutant kidnapping and even with the mutant in question having been recovered there was follow-up to be done. Apparently the Friends of Humanity were involved and according to intelligence they had gathered there would be one of their small 'bases' right on their turf.

Hell's Kitchen.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Like Daisy, Matt wasn't a mutant just mutant adjacent like she was, still people picking on anyone for what's in their DNA didn't sit well with him and more than that they were doing it in his backyard, they had to pay.

Crouching on a rooftop on the way to the base, Daredevil looks back to Daisy. "Good to get out here like this," he remarks taking a moment to scan the area with his senses as he chats.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
The smile is in Daisy's voice when she replies, "It is." dressed in the armored suit Melvin had crafted for her. Dark blue to Matt's red! She leans forward on that rooftop they chose to perch on in order to take in the building which assumedly would be where the Friends are at.

And nothing.

"Uh, my vibrations can't get through the place..." a frown, brows furrowing deeper and she focusing. But still nothing, "I wonder if this is why they have gone undetected at this place for so long.." there is indeed something that appears to be blocking their senses as to what may be within, "Did they cover the thing in lead or what?"

A pause, a look to Matt, "Don't say it.." she is half-expecting some sort of pun like 'Guess we will have to go in blind'

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt smiles back at least until it's clear their senses can't penetrate the place. "Lead wouldn't stop my powers, or possibly yours." At this point he wasn't sure what Daisy's limits were.

The joke gets a soft chuckle, "Beat me to it by this much," he says holding his thumb and index finger a half-inch apart. "Guessing this means we need to use the front door, let's hope they didn't armour that against the rest of what your powers can do." ie. time to blow that front door down and wing what came after.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
At this point Daisy wasn't even sure what her limits were. Give it to the Song of the Universe to have thrown a curve ball at her and changed how she saw her powers to be. And without Master Fu it was mostly try and error now. Lots of error mostly. Still, she isn't that happy with this development so what could it be...?

"Front door sounds good.." She says in agreement, getting up from her perch to gain a running start and jumping out to the skies. Powers catch her up and she lowers herself down to the ground, a rumbling heard on the mostly empty streets as they then approach the building. A two-story building, nondescript besides the usual graffiti here and there. Rather normal-looking all in all. "Hopefully it won't be just some residential building or something..."

Daisy knocks on the door, a few moments later a gruff, "Who is there?" is heard from the other side of the door. And while Daisy prepares to 'KABLAM' the door down with her powers there's the teltale sound of a shotgun being prepped on the other side, ready to shoot. And it's not like Daisy appears to have noticed!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Hearing the sound of the shotgun Matt springs into action. As the door falls he's leaping through it landing crouched low. He kicks upwards knocking the shotgun up as it fires, the buckshot hitting the roof rather than him or Daisy. Then he's leaping from his crouch to wheelkick the man into the wall where he collapses in a heap.

One down a lot more to go no doubt, Matt sweeps the inside with his senses now that he's past whatever protection was set up on the outside.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Getting through the door is almost like going into some kind of 'bubble'. It's clearly more than just some material on the walls, or whatever else they could do with technology. And whatever else it may be it also seems to have alerted the rest of the people inside of an attack for there's a flurry of activity that Matt can sense all over. On the second floor, on the first. Lots of motion, and making way towards their position. And even within it's almost as if there was something 'fighting' out against their senses, creating a sense of 'blur' on what they can follow and sense about them.

Maybe powers.

Daisy looks at the man and leans down to open the side of his jacket, looking on the inner-part. A frown. "Yea, he has the Friends logo stitched in... We are in the right place."

Corridors go one way and the other, some doors heard opening and closing. Guns being readied. On the upper-floor Matt may catch the sound of a whimper. Perhaps prisoners.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Fixing in first on the sound of their opposition Matt reports, "More 'Friends' incoming, armed with guns, possible hostages on the next floor up, my senses are still a mess. What do you figure, deal with the badguys down here or try to avoid them and get upstairs?" he asks Daisy, then adds. "Or split up and do both?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Prisoners, uh?

Daisy casts a look up with a small frown, thoughtful. "I will catch their attention, make way up to the second floor and find the prisoners. My senses are still messed up.." yet not as messed up as to not be able to use the more violent ways of her powers for when she disappears down a hallway soon enough there's that teltale vibration of her powers. Screams. People flying. Yes, she is taking care of business. And calling in most of those on the lower floor towards her position. Which leaves Matt open way to go.

Or at least as open as it can get for there will still be a few of those Friends in his way!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Nodding, Matt says, "Sounds like a plan," then before Daisy goes off to fight he grabs her arm and if she lets him, he kisses her deeply before breaking away and saying, "For luck," before he heads for the stairs to the upper levels.

A man with a Tek 9 tries to stop him before the gun is pushed up and the man is throat punched and over Matt's shoulder as a makeshift human shield as he continues up towards the faint sounds of the prisoners.

Now he's just hoping the Friends aren't the sort to risk hitting one of their own!

Daisy Johnson has posed:
The kiss is certainly returned, a smirk on her voice when Daisy replies, "Luck, is it?" but then she is off, towards those unfortunate ones that dare to try and oppose her. She has little pity for the Friends of Humanity, which is noticeable in the way she is being particularly violent, bodies heard being pushed to the wall at high speeds as she continues her destruction of the opposition downstairs..

The Friends of Humanity may be many things, but one thing they *are* is loyal to one another. So as they spot Daredevil making his way up with an human shield there's someone shouting. "Don't shoot!" followed by a, "He's got one of ours!" Yet it's not as if they will just let Matt continue on his merry way around the block as they approach him, knives in hand. Perhaps they should had read the memo on how deadly Daredevil is in close quarters though!

Beyond those few on the way the sounds are now more noticeable. Of prisoners. And of ..., something else. A serum being injected. It *has* been a while since a sound like that was heard by Matt though. Last time it was on one of those bracers Hydra used to give their soldiers powers.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Or something like it," Matt returns to Daisy. "Be safe," he tells her before he's off and fighting.

Grinning as the men refuse to shoot one of their own, hearing the knives being drawn, he tosses his human shield at the two closest men before their knives are fully out of their sheathes. Then drawing his batons he advances on the other, the grin remaining on his face until he hears the sound of the serum being injected.

Not good!

Matt rushes forward to face the knife men trying to get through them quickly to track the source of that sound.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Melvin makes great suits. That gets proven when Matt rushes in the knife guy with that urgency of tracking the source. Sharp blades skid off the suit as they attempt to stab Daredevil and with a mix of both their friend being tossed atop them, along with the superior combat skills Daredevil has they are dispatched quickly enough, one by one crumbling down to the ground. Not that Daredevil has to run that far to find out the source of the injection for a door is literally punched off it's hinges and comes flying Matt's way.

Yes, someone seems to have injected themselves with super strength. Of course that whatever they did it seems to be eating away at them real quick too, heartbeat real fast, breathing labored. "I don't know how you found us. The injection was supposed to keep us hidden, but no matter." voice rushed, breathless almost.

The man comes thundering out of the adjacent room at a run, charging at Daredevil!

From below the sounds of fighting appear to be done, which means Quake may be reinforcing him soon.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt figured it'd go something like this, which was why he was glad he dealt with the knife men first and quickly, he was going to need to focus on this guy.

"Juicing yourselves with powers?" he asks the man "Isn't that hypocritical," he observes as he tries to duck the man's super powered punches. Getting hit even once is going to hurt like hell.

That's where Matt puts his focus, dodging, keeping out of reach, punching back where he can but that's not what he's counting on to finish this, not when he hears the sound of Daisy finish her fight down below.

"Stop this now and walk away," he warns the man. "We'll get you help to fix the damage the serum has done to you."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Dodging successfully it means that the man goes and hits the wall with a punch. And it leaves a dent there. Yea..., it would hurt a lot being touched by this guy, "We are using the same weapons you do, mutie. We'll do whatever we need to eradicate your people." he says through gritted teeth, throwing a wild punch again that isn't that hard to dodge. For all that strength he got there doesn't seem that much control and speed.

Punches land here and there, the man grunting. A normal man would had fallen by now but he still holds for a while longer. "What damage? You are the one that will need help once I am done with you just .., stand still.." frustration creeping into the man's tone, and tiredness.

Daisy comes back up the stairs, appearing in the doorway and taking in what's going on. The fallen men, the juiced-up 'thug'. She notes the bracer, so familiar to the ones used in the past by Hydra and the vibrations that emanate from her are telling. There is hatred there.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Not a mutie," Matt counters. "And I can feel that thing killing you, it's not too late to put it down and stop this in a few more seconds I won't be able to promise that."

Then the thug runs out of time, feeling Daisy behind him Matt flattens himself to the floor, getting out of the way of Daisy's powers. He knew what would be coming would be coming hard. He did what he could, now it was time to let Daisy do what she needed to do.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Daisy Johnson says, "What are you ...." The man is puzzled at Daredevil just throwing himself down. But his confusion doesn't last long for he is hit with a blast right on his chest, sending him to the wall. Then hit with another, and another. The vibrations reverberate through the air, Daisy's hand up and pointing at the man as she unleashes her power upon him.

Rage is interwoven on those blasts as she lets them go. Is she intending to stop though?

She makes her way across the room once the man topples to the ground, moving to stand above his fallen form and pointing her hand down at him. Perhaps considering whether or not to deliver that last blow, shoulders tense, teeth gritted. And she says nothing."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Once the man is down, Matt is back on his feet rushing to Daisy's side. "He's not worth it," he says, "Let the cops or SHIELD handle him, he'll be locked up for whatever life that serum has left him with." He didn't think it was going to be a good life regardless of how long the man lived, the damage done by the serum was immense. "We can be better than them, let's get the prisoners and go."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Another moment passes in which Daisy continues with her hand pointed at the man, looking at him. Considering..., but eventually she breaks eye contact when she hears Matt's words telling her not to go ahead with what she -wants- to do. A nod, "You are right.." she knows he is, truly. It doesn't mean that she doesn't want to kill though. Yet she relents..

"I will send a beam for SHIELD to come in." And with the man now unconscious it's not as if they will be getting much info out of him. Yet they might still get some if he gets alive back in SHIELD. Something to follow up on..

But for now? The prisoners.

As they move into the next room they find it. The cages, the torture room. There's only a couple of them here, visible mutations, one with fins on his hands and ears, almost like a shark, the other with large, black eyes. They appear to have been beaten up. Talking with them will reveal they were being tortured for information on other mutants, to reveal locations.

And as troubling as that may be if they are getting access to Hydra technology they may very well turn very deadly soon enough.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Close as they are Daisy can feel Matt's anger at the man as well, but it's something he holds tightly in check.

"Good," he says about the message to SHIELD and puts hand on her shoulder, a quiet thanks and show of support.

Though when they get to the prisoners the anger intenisfies, swallowed back in favour of sympathy, crouching next to the shark boy, he helps untie them. "I'm Daredevil, we're here to get you out of here, can you walk?" he asks as he works on getting them free, asking them questions as he goes.

"We should warn the other mutants, and mutants in general," he warns Daisy. "I don't think the Friends are going to stop just because we took out one facility."
