Taking a Meeting at King's Landing
Date of Scene: 07 October 2021
Location: King's Landing Scrap Yard, Brooklyn, NY
Synopsis: Spider-Man and Madison get together for training and chatting.
Cast of Characters: Madison Evans, Peter Parker

Madison Evans has posed:
Madison has been visiting King's Landing on the regular, to continue practicing her powers, as well as useful skills like sparring. Little by little, the teen has been improving - accessing her gifts with greater ease, and learning some of the basics of hand-to-hand. Eventually, though, everyone tires and the teen finds herself somewhere to sit, and drink from her water bottle - dumping a little of it over her head to cool herself down. "I almost had you that time!" she claims. (No she didn't.) "A couple more weeks of practice maybe a month tops. Yeah?" And then- what? She'll beat Spider-man?
    Keep dreaming, kid.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man was doing a little personal traveling - not to a crime scene or a surveillance exercise, but just to avoid taking (costly) public transportation. But he does have a few things set up at the "training gym" to help with secrecy. One of them is the motion-sensor system so he knows someone is in the area.

He lands lightly on one of the taller crushed-car columns to check out the local population and smiles when he sees Madison. She's certainly driven. Reminds him a little of himself, except he didn't have anyone to guide him and help him train.

Which he sure could have used...

"Hey there, Maddie," he calls from above. "Hope you're doing well."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Always doing well," Maddie answers in a bright tone. The girl is an 'up' sort of person, to be honest and nothing seemed to keep her down for long. "Stop any interesting crime lately?" she asks - almost conversationally.
As she talks, she pulls out her phone, idly unlocking it - and pulling up a saved video file - though she doesn't hit play just yet. Observant eyes might note, though, that overlayed on top of the video file is the silhouette of a street light - with Spidey hanging from it, upside down. And below him, leaning against the street light appeared to be Captain America - only recognizeable because the shield is done in both black and white to highlight the design.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man drops to the ground, standing up straight. "Well, there was the slavery ring me and Spider-Woman busted up. The masterminds are going to go to prison for a very long time, and that ain't bad."

He strolls over to Madison. "Glad to hear things are well. What's up?"

Madison Evans has posed:
"Nice!" Madison replies with a broad grin. "Slavery is just about //the worst thing ever//," she says emphatically. "Gosh, you must have saves a whole lot of lives doing that."
She shifts in her seat, taking another sip of her water, and glancing back down at her phone. There's a sort of... nervous but excited energy coming off the girl, as she offers her phone over to him. "So I, umm, ran into Scarlet Spider, and I had this hilarious idea, and he thought you'd love it too, so I um- I made this video and- here."
If Spidey hits play, he'll soon find himself watching a video of what sure as hell sounds like him and Captain America MST3King the movie Surf Nazis Must Die. It lasts a few minutes, showing only clips from the film, with Cap mostly playing the role of 'straight man' - and refering to 'back in his day.' Madison watches anxiously for some sign of reaction, which can be a little harder to do when someone's entire face is covered by a mask.
"It's a 'deep fake,'" she explains quietly.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey is silent for a moment. Then he begins to snicker quietly. Then the snicker upgrades to a laugh that fades only to swell at the next joke or comment. Madison can even tell he is smiling under the mask.

"Wow..." he says after the video clip ends. "That's just...wow. You made this?"

Madison Evans has posed:
At the first snicker Maddie begins to relax - until she's grinning and even laughing along with Spidey. She nods her head eagerly, before offering, "Well - I had a friend help me with the software to, umm, get the voices right. But - yeah. I made it," she answers. "Scarlet was like totally convinced you'd love. He thought it was hilarious. But him, and you, and a couple of my friends are the only ones that've seen it. ... yet."

Peter Parker has posed:
"That's pretty cool, Maddie. Yeah, this is...inspired, really. I tend to improvise when it comes to humor, but I was usually a far more technical fellow than a practiced comedian." He looked to Madison, then to the phone. "Thought about making this a series? Do you have enough content?"

Madison Evans has posed:
"I mean - the computer program can make you say whatever I want you to say, basically..." Madison replies, giving a shrug of her shoulders. "And there's an //endless// amount of bad movies out there I can use clips from. I kinda wanted to post it to youtube with a sorta 'Spidey and Cap not actually involved in this production, all voices are simulated' sorta disclaimer but I uhhhh - I kinda figure that's the sort of thing you ask friends about before posting stuff online. I mean, if you want to stay friends, and all," she explains, her gaze fixed on Spidey expectantly.
    So. Can she?

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nodded. "Yeah, that's a pretty good idea. Just a disclaimer that you are using likeness, and that it's not actually them." He paused for a moment. "I probably should expect Captain America to ask me, should he see it. These would be demonetized, right? So you could say that you aren't profiting from his likeness."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Well. I'm not doing it for the money." Madison gets a thoughtful look before she asks, "Is there a way to monetize them where the money goes direct to a charity though, I wonder?" she muses in a thoughtful tone. "I mean, I could put it towards a victims-of-crime, or natural disaster relief fund, or something like that. That would be pretty cool."
With an amused quirk to her lips she adds, "I keep trying to find a way that I could submit this video as an assignment for one of my classes. But I haven't found an assignment it fits, yet."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey hmms. "Well, I don't see why you can't use my likeness for a good cause. It can certainly be used for a BAD one, considering the hits the Spidey-Fail.com is getting. There would have to be an announcement at the beginning, of course...and I think you would have to somehow communicate this to Cap before you post it."

He paused for a moment. "...I could give it a shot. I dunno if he'll listen to me, but the man is all about good causes."

Madison Evans has posed:
"I wouldn't know how to contact him at all. High school kids can't exactly drive up to the Avenger's mansion and be all 'Hi, can I talk to Captain America please? kthanx," Madison replies with a wry smile. "I mean, I could post it with no monetization for now - and they switch over to a charity model if he gives his go ahead? I mean, he could even pick the charity if he wanted. I don't care so long as it helps people who need help. Or maybe animals, but I'm not sure Cap's a 'saving animals' kinda guy." She gives a careless shrug of her shoulders. Has she ever seen Cap with an animal before? ....she doesn't think so.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "Well...let me see if I can suss him out. I could have a better shot at talking to Cap wearing the suit than without. Is this the whole clip, or just an excerpt?"

Madison Evans has posed:
"That's all I've made so far," Madison offers. "You want I should send it to you?" she suggests. "Or I could upload it as one of those 'private links' things where you can only access it if you have the link to begin with. You know - an unlisted video, or whatever they call it," she muses in a thoughtful tone. She's never done one of those - but she's heard of them.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "Put an entire episode together. While you're doing that, I'll try to get in touch with Cap. At the very least, it will give each of us something to do before it gets posted. I'll let you know what he says." He pauses, then chuckles. "Maybe I can convince him to give the Spider-Comm membership a try. If Wonder Woman and Supergirl want to join, I'm sure a Living Legend can be an Honorary Spider."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Well, I was thinking of only doing short clips for each movie," Madison explains. "I mean, lots of comedic youtube videos are only a handful of minutes long, you know? And if you make it too long, and use too much footage from the movie - you run into copyright issues and stuff... But I can make a few more. I more meant - you know, so you could show him. So he even knows what he's agree to. You think he's seen MST3K yet?" she muses in a thoughtful tone.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey looks thoughtful. "Couldn't say for sure. Every time I think he's so clean he squeaks, I forget that he was a soldier and had seen combat in World War 2. I think it's even-odds he's familiar with MST3K. But I can try to communicate that with him."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Well. Let me know what he says," Madison says brightly. "If you can get ahold of him."
Switching gears entirely she adds, "Also, my friend? Dyani? She's like- well. She's like a bee. She has bee powers! She can fly, and she can control bees, and she can even turn herself into a swarm of bees, and then back into a person. And she talks a little bit funny - she always calls herself 'we' and she calls people she cares about 'her hive' and stuff- well anyways. She said she wants to do training to so- would it be okay if I brought her here sometime? To like - meet you and stuff? And try training? Oh, and she can use a bow and arrow! She's been showing me."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man blinks. "Well...that's new. Well...I don't see a reason why she can't. Since you're vetting her. I would like to meet her, though. And not in an Arachnid-Meets-Insect kinda way. I wonder if she truly is a single consciousness or a hive mind. What's her name?"

Madison Evans has posed:
"Dyani," Madison repeats, grinning at Spidey in amusement. "She's real nice. She said, umm, Hydra kidnapped her and forced her to work for them for a while, but she got rescued by some folks, and now she's going to school, but she wants to train so maybe she can stop people from doing, you know, awful stuff like that anymore." After a momentary pause she adds, "You'd rather meet her somewhere else - not here? She lives at my school - in the dorms. I guess her parents are like... in Arizona or something? I think."

Peter Parker has posed:
"Oh, don't get me wrong. Here's as good a place as any. I was just trying to make a joke about spiders and bees, but they aren't all gems." Spidey chuckles. "I suppose I shouldn't joke about serious stuff, but sometimes my mouth is already in fifth gear before my brain gets out of first."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Oh, it wasn't the joke - I mean. I just thought - if you wanted to meet her, maybe you'd rather meet her before I showed her where this place is," Madison explains, giving a shrug of her shoulders. "But I'll tell her you said it was okay - and I'll bring her next time!" she offers in a broad grin. "She'll be so excited! I mean - she's a bit odd. The way she thinks, I think, and the way she talks, like I said. But she's real nice, and really that's what matters, you know?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man looks around. "Well, I'm a costumed vigilante keeping in fighting trim using a scrapyard. I think we've got plenty of 'odd' here already." He looks back to Madison. "I shouldn't be so territorial, but I think you're a decent judge of character."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Aww - I'm glad you think so!" Madison says in a cheerful tone. After a last sip of her water, she pushes herself to her feet, asking hopefully, "Can we try sparring? I mean I know it's not really a challenge for you, but I keep learning loads..." And that's the goal, after all. Right?

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods. "Fair enough. And I can show you a little of what I've been putting together. I've been adapting some of the training Owari has given me to work with my own innate gifts. I'm sure she's noticed...but I'm willing to spar with you." He points to the open space set aside for this sort of thing. "I'll go full defense."

Madison Evans has posed:
Madison moves over towards the mats, taking a deep breath in, and letting it out slowly. As she does, she reaches out with her mind to that part of her she calls 'the Force' - letting it strengthen and speed her movements. When she's ready, she closes in on Spidey, testing with a pair of quick jabs towards his shoulder and his side, sliding smoothly to his left as she does so.

Peter Parker has posed:
DAMN, she's quick. He was expecting the strikes, but they came faster than he expected. He was able to block them, but he was surprised he would have to act so quickly.

"Wow! That's good. The element of surprise is a tactical advantage. Use it if you have it."

Madison Evans has posed:
"I've been practicting!" Maddie remarks brightly - grinning with satsifaction, as she fakes a punch to the right, and then comes in on his left instead with a hefty swing.
Simultaneously, her gaze shifts to a moment towards her half-empty waterbottle, which rises up from the ground, and pelt towards Spidey's exposed rump. If he wants surprise, well then...!

Peter Parker has posed:
He was feeling pretty confident, right up until he senses something coming at him from behind...

He whirls around, slicing one hand through the air to block...a water bottle? His momentary surprise was enough for him to hit it at an angle, and suddenly his mask is drenched with water.

Well, hello, Parker Luck, nicetameetcha-

SPLOOSH.

Madison Evans has posed:
"HA! How's that for surprise!" Madison crows. Of course, while he's dealing with the fact that there's water all over his face, she tries to sweep his feet out from underneath him, her hands both coming up in a shove to try to knock Spider-man back onto his arse. If she succeeds... man. //All// her friends will hear about it.
    Multiple times, probably.

Peter Parker has posed:
The foot sweep is completed, but Spidey suddenly backflips up and backward, landing on his feet, eyes focused on her.

"You got close...but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and dragonfire." He pauses momentarily, then adds, "If I was any slower, you would have gotten me."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Close counts a little bit," Madison counters with a grin. "In sparring. Not in a real fight, though. Maybe next time it won't be water, though!"
Nah. It'll still be water - she's Madison, after all.
"What're other ways for catching someone off balance?" she asks curiously. "I mean - figure throwing stuff at people from behind is always good go-to..."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey steps back. "Well, one thing *I* tend to use is harassing them. Insulting them, making fun of them, that sort of thing. Angry opponents make mistakes. But, admittedly, my method doesn't work for everyone."

He thinks for a moment. "How about moving objects in the area. Not to toss them at people, but moving them to trip people up or hide important items to keep them from the bad guys."

Madison Evans has posed:
"That could work," Madison agrees. "Or distract them. Make them thing more people are coming!" Reaching out with her mind - Maddie rattles some of the free-weights that were just out of sight before declaring, "Give it up, Spidey! I've got you surrounded! Any minute hundreds of high school students are going to swarm you and demand autographs!"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man snerked. "I think you over-estimate my fame, Maddie. But you have the right idea. Also, the supervillain can't set off the bomb if the remote is suddenly nowhere to be found."

Madison Evans has posed:
"Very true! And then //I// have control over the superweapon!" Madison throws her head back and lets out an impressive evil cackle! Before flashing Spidey another road grin.
    "I've been practicing for Halloween."
Of course, it's about then that an alarm sounds in Maddie's backpack, which she'd set off to the side. "...oh. I think I need to go catch my bus!"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods. "Go ahead. I have a few things to do here, so I'll close up." He steps back and waves. "Take care of yourself, and I'd like to meet Dyani sometime..."

Madison Evans has posed:
"I'll bring her by!" Madison calls. "I'll send you a message when I do. And let me know what Cap says, yeah?" she calls brightly. She retrieves here waterbottle - making a face. Man - she cracked the lid. Bummer. Tucking it into a pocket on the side of her backpack, she shoulders it, and eyes the wall surrounding the compound. She runs... - and then leap, clearing the wall neatly, with a grin of satisfaction. She didn't used to be able to do that...

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man BLINKS as he watches Madison do something he thought only he could do. "Wow...the Force is DEFINITELY with HER..."
