The Japanese Art of Coffin Folding
Date of Scene: 15 October 2021
Location: Wilderness Campsites
Synopsis: Noriko tries to setup a symbiotic picnic that falls flat and reveals a coffin she made, well a cardboard prototype. The two are interrupted by some potentially life-changing news delivered by origami butterfly.
Cast of Characters: Noriko Ashida, Jubilation Lee

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko left Jubes a note for when she woke up.  She does not send texts or anything, but Jubes knows this is just out of respect for her bank account, given Nori's difficulties with using consumer electronics.

"Meet me at the campsite.  Bring your pillow," it said, signed by Nori.  The campsite.  She must mean the one they were at for New Years.  The one off the way a little?  The one everyone knows is off the way a little.

There is no fire to light the way.  Noriko shows up at the appointed hour, the moon and stars already out to play.  She's heaving a large duffel over her shoulder with one hand and a whole bunch of other things are somehow managed by her other hand, arm, body.  She didn't want to make any more trips obviously.  "There has got to be a better way..." she mutters, huffing and puffing for once in her life as she dumps her cargo.  "Is this what it feels like to be a human?"  Although Noriko runs every evening, is it really exercise for the speedster?  Or is it more akin to light stretching for her?  A stroll?

"Shit!" Noriko says when she checks the time.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
As soon as the sun fell below the horizon, Jubilation crawled out from inside the cardboard wardrobe box that is her makeshift coffin. Burned to a blistery crisp by indirect sunlight-adjacent radiance, fought off a horrible scary demon, and nearly killed John Constantine... She had a rough night and needed the entire day to recover from it. But, she emerged from her slumber right as rain, totally recovered as though the extreme physical trauma never happened at all. The note brings a smile to the girl's face, sending her on an immediate mission to pick the right outfit, do her hair and makeup, and generally just look as close to perfect as she can get.

A few hundred feet from the campsite, a terrible noise indicates struggle, pain, and suffering, followed by panicked running through the brush. A pack of deer run by the campsite, keen on getting the hell out of there as quickly as possible. A couple minutes later, Jubilee walks up the path and arrives herself, holding her pillow as instructed. She's chewing some gum, the minty kind!

"Hey..." she says quietly, smiling at Noriko as she approaches. "What's all this?" She wears a sapphire necklace, but the ugly amulet she also had is absent.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
It's hard to miss new jewelry on Jubes, at least for Noriko, and thus it is hard to miss the absence of it too.  Noriko immediately takes in Jubilation, her outfit, her makeup, which has shifted to accommodate her pale porcelain complexion.  "Hey...I don't know if you'd be into it but...I thought...maybe we could both eat tonight, enjoy the night away," away from both places that suggest the other isn't there.  There's meaning in this campsite.

"And I wanted to talk and I have a surprise but I was running late-I was supposed to be here earlier," Noriko says in a buzz, the words zipping out of her until she cuts herself off, "What happened to that necklace thing you were wearing..and what's that sapphire one?"  Still blazing fast, she blinks, surprised at seemingly nothing, and then leans to give Jubes a kiss.

"I forgot to say hello."  Noriko's cheeks fire up.  She clearly means...the hello she wanted to give.  "Everything's out of order."

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilation's eyes light up, her smile widens, and she immediately looks excited and, yes, absolutely into Noriko's idea! "Really?" she nearly squeals. Things have been weird and different since she was turned, the two have never felt more apart, and this small gesture sends Jubilee swimming. The 'eat' comment goes ignored, apparently -- they'll cross that bridge when they get there. For now? Noriko made /plans/ for them... Jubilation cannot keep her absolute happiness a secret.

"Yes!" she says happily, bobbing up and down on the balls of her feet. She doesn't tease Nori about being a speedster who was late for something. She doesn't even immediately answer the question about the necklaces. She just falls forward, right into Nori's kiss, and returns it happily. "Hello," she says quietly, smiling, lingering there. Her hand slips to the sapphire around her neck, head tilting down to look at it as best she can. "Oh... It's... " she begins. What could she say that wouldn't ruin this evening?

"Can I just tell you about it later?" she asks, hopefully. Telling Nori about her demon hunting activities and all that goes along with it is a recipe for derailing whatever magic is happening here tonight. "I...I think you maybe wouldn't like what I tell you."

Noriko Ashida has posed:
That close hello could melt the speedster in her tracks, and it does.  Her entire body relaxes.  She isn't prey.  Or rather, she declares isn't with her infinite ease around the young vampire.  Things just are, and she is just comfortable around Jubilation.  The way Jubes lights up brings a smile to the girl's lips, eyes crinkling a little from her grin.

Noriko stays close, not that she would have to with the way her heart is wildly beating, and as if it couldn't go any faster, it does, but only for a hitch.  A swallow.  "Okay...But for that you're going to have to get started on catching dinner yourself, but really because I have stuff to setup.  I'll come help after though!" which probably means right away.  She grins.  "Make sure you pick something tasty that I can eat after you've had your fill."  Nori /has/ thought this out.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Noriko's plan draws out a mixture of expressions on Jubilation's face. Catch dinner? Come help? Something tasty she can eat after? On one hand, it's something they can do together to share what could be considered a meal. On the other hand, it's absolutely strange in every way, not to mention that Jubilee took care of her thirst before arriving. It's bad manners for a vampire to show up hungry.

Jubilee's eyes lower, realizing that she has already unraveled Nori's plans for them. "Oh, Nori..." she begins softly. "I, uh, already... You know." She shrugs her shoulders and looks up for the speedster's reaction to that.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko blinks, completely not expecting this even though she should have.  Of course she should have.  For a flash, she looks absolutely stricken.  She reaches up in that old baked in gesture, rubbing the back of her neck with her gauntlet.

"It was a risk."  Noriko sighs.  "We should just go back to your place.  This was a dumb idea.  I thought I could surprise you but I blew this one," she says, like she wants a redo.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilation's smile fades away entirely. "What?" she says, shoulders slumping. She turns her head to look at the unfinished campsite, recalling the happy memories of the last time they were here. And now? Nori brought her here to... kill an animal together. The moonlight dances against Jubilation's eyes as she teeters back and forth between crying and not crying. For now, not.

"Nori..." she begins quietly. "Coming here was not a dumb idea. It was great... But, I... I don't want to hunt an animal with you. I don't want you to see me do that..." Clearly disappointed at this unfortunate turn, Jubilation raises her eyebrows.

"We have to go back?" she asks softly.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Why?  I don't care-"  But Noriko knows, there's a change of Jubilation's state.  It's just the little nudge Noriko needs to realize there's a lot more to the situation that she's completely blind to.  "I just wanted a way for us to do some of the things we use to do together, like eat and...I kind of hate the idea of all that meat just going to waste after you are finished."  Her /stomach/ hates the idea of it going to waste.

"I'm sorry.  I should have asked.  I just wanted to surprise you."  As for whether they have to go back, Noriko doesn't get to answering that, so preoccupied with what Jubilation says, so earnest.

Left with all the weirdness hanging in the air, Noriko looks down and then finally says, "I used to hunt all the time alone.  I couldn't live off what I got in the city."  She was starving. "and no way was I going to eat rats."  That's another story, and so is how one of the people in the homeless encampment trading meat for teaching her how to field dress the animal.

"I'm not who you think I am.  I let your food go that night at the pool because I couldn't stand how it was caged and terrified.  Not because I do not kill.  I know you don't want me to see you feed, but you don't have to be ashamed or afraid of what I will think of you if you do."

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilation furrows her brow and looks down at her sneakers as she listens to Noriko explain. "I...I get it," she says. "I want to do that stuff with you, too, all the things we used to do... But..." She lifts her head and watches Noriko carefully. "I'm just... not ready for you to see me like that, yet..." The 'yet' hangs in the air, implying that it's just going to be something she has to work towards.

Jubilee knows Noriko had to do some hard things to stay alive on her own. While Jubilee was scamming cookies at the mall she was hiding out in, Nori was living on the streets. It's an entirely different approach to homelessness. "Nori..." she says softly. Jubilation reaches out and rests her fingertips on one of the speedster's gauntlet. "I don't want that for you anymore. We're done with that stuff..." It's a detail of their lives that neither can erase, but it doesn't mean it has to make a comeback.

The point about the bird hikes up Jubilee's eyebrows. "Yeah, well, it's not as good when they're dead already..." Jubilation explains. "And animal blood is...already kind of gross." She shrugs her shoulders, explaining the bird-in-the-backpack incident. Apparently she has no empathy for that poor bird as her Dark Passenger has already taken care of that.

"Do you really want to go back?" she asks again.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Wait.  No.  That's not what this is.  I just wanted a way for us to share a meal.  I know it's probably weird but like, if we went camping, I'd have to hunt then too," which might not be something that occurred to Jubilee, the possibility of that now occurring to Nori.  "I mean did you ever have venison before?"  Before blood was the best and everything else now is the worst.

Still, Noriko doesn't pull away from Jubilation's closeness, the touch of her fingers to Nori's gauntlet.  "Oh yeah that's a good point."  Noriko has many realizations, like the bird having a proper cage would no less quell its fear of her girlfriend's supernatural presence.  The speedster has noticed how 'nature' has taken notice of Jubilation, particularly in the animal kingdom.

"Do you want to stay?  I was going to set up this tent I made for us."  It's a trapping.  Not that they will or ever would have slept in the same place for a typical amount of time.  Even before Jubilation turned, Noriko just doesn't seem to sleep as much or in the same ways.  Why take time to figure it out.  But the tent, it's a home away from the 'your place' and 'my place.'  "It's stupid.  Just some theater was getting new curtains so I made some weird tent out of the old ones," she spits out quickly.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
"No we wouldn't..." Jubilee replies. "We'd pack stuff like marshmallows and graham crackers and chocolate and all that stuff! In, like, a backpack or whatever." Each food item she mentions is said with more disgust than the one that came before it. She shakes her head, though, at the idea of venison. "Ew, no," is her response. You can't take the Beverly Hills out of this one.

"But, yeah, we can... We can try it some time. But, I didn't know... I didn't know so I, uh, 'ate' before coming," Jubilation admits. "I... I didn't want to be out here, all alone with you, and... you know, hungry..." Her tone carries an ominous tone, one of foreboding, as she suggests the danger Nori would be in if that was the situation.

"Yes, let's stay!" she says almost immediately, nodding her head up and down with enthusiasm. "It's /not/ stupid!" She almost shouts it.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Jubes...I would still have to hunt.  I can't live off a backpack of food."  Noriko is obviously just trying to help paint a picture for Jubilation.  When Jubilation mentions she's never had venison, Noriko shrugs, her shoulder slumped.

"Yeah.  I just forgot," that Jubes does that.  Of course she does.  The thought that Jubes must be filling up before they interact had hit Nori the other day, but the thought just slipped by.  Jubes' enthusiasm spurs a small grin in the speedster.

"I get it....and now I want marshmallows and graham crackers and chocolate and all that stuff!" Noriko mock shoves, letting the force deaden off quickly as she comes into contact.  "Thanks for that."

"Hmm...well...okay.  If we stay then...I guess I'll just bring it here..." she mumbles to herself as her eyes wander thought.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
She would still have to hunt. Jubilee turns and looks around them, at the campire, at the supplies Nori brought. She blinks and turns back to look at the speedster. "Wait..." Jubes says softly. "What are we doing here? We're just... hanging out, right? I mean, why do you need more food than what we might bring?" Is Nori planning a long-term thing? Is she...?

"And what do you mean... 'bring it out here'?" she asks with a suspicious smile.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"We're not going anywhere.  I meant, if we were going to camp.  Like really camp."  Noriko squinches her eyes shut at her miscommunication, wondering briefly if she missed some subtle lingual difference or cultural expectation.

"Well there's something back at your place."  When did Nori get it there?  Probably doesn't matter.  Probably is why she was 'late.'  "And I wanted to bring it out here but it isn't really weatherproof...soo," Noriko kicks at the dirt a little.  "But it's a surprise so if you think I'll break that easy...psssh."  She grins.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilee's eyebrows rise in excitement. "A surprise!" she exclaims, a big smile returning. "Oh, what is it? No! Don't tell me!" She gently bites down on her bottom lip and squints her eyes. "I'll see later. Can't we just... stay for a while?" She tilts her head to the side and opens her eyes ever-so-wide. She's not trying to glamour Nori into it, but she's certainly doing the doe eyes.

No one knows they're out here, no one at all, and yet, somehow... Jubilation is found. She's found by a butterfly. It flutters down from the sky, struggling a little against the evening air, and begins to get closer and closer to Jubilee. "What the..."

It's dark, but the moon is bright and Jubilation's sight is very sharp these days, even in darkness. "It's paper!" she says and reaches out to grab it the origami butterfly. As soon as she touches it, it becomes inanimate folded paper. Jubilee slowly unfolds the butterfly, careful not to rip or tear it. Now held between both hands, Jubilee stares at the paper. It's a letter.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Yeah.  We can stay out here.  I wanted to.  I just felt like I had ruined everything."  Shut up Nori, she thinks even faster.  She closes her eyes for a moment and then grins.  "I'll setup the tent."  Because even if they are out there for a just a little while, that's forever in NoriTime, and she might be a little proud of her makeshift vampire tent made out of the thick, velvety (and insanely heavy) curtains.  Just a little proud.  It turned out better than she was expecting.

Noriko squints at the fluttering paper as it descends.  "It's too col-oh yeah that makes sense...well uh, that's weird," but private, Noriko realizes, when she leans over and sees it is a letter.  "I'll setup the tent, let you read that..." in peace?

One might wonder what Nori's standards are for being proud, because she seems excited as she gets to work by rustling around in the duffle until she finds a serious looking carabiner, loops it through a loop of fabric she's attached to the curtain.  Then she's up in the tree, the curtain draping down like someone had just picked up a sheet by pinching it in the center.  Laying against the limb of the tree, she attaches the carabiner to an anchor point she created by tying a tie around the limb.  Then she swings down and drops.

"We only have blankets for the bottom now.  I've got an idea for some other time."  Hopefully it will make the shape of things better.  Noriko anchors parts of the tent with their bags and just folds the curtains back under to make a lush pile at the bottom.  Then she spreads blankets over it all.  "It will block out the sun, but it's not as good at closing as the real tents.  I'll figure it out," she says as if it's just a matter of getting to that point.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilation stares at the paper, nodding her head absently at Nori's points about the tent. She just got a freaking LETTER in the woods. AND it was a butterfly. It's a tad more distracting than a tent. Her eyes dart left and right as she scans the writing -- it's fancy, beautiful script that flows perfectly across the page. Who the heck sent her this? Skip to the bottom.

"It's from John!" she nearly cries out. That means he's okay! More scanning... And then a BIG SMILE. The biggest! "Nori! Nori!" she exclaims. "Listen, listen to this!" Jubilee swallows (nothing) and prepares to read the letter aloud. She clears her throat.

"Elvira," she begins, rolling her eyes at that micro-aggression right at the start. "...First thing to get out of the way is that I'm fine. I know you're probably pissed. I get that, but I don't regret what I did. It was a temporary measure until I could find something more permanent to help you and make it a little easier for you. I think I've done that. Feeding, it doesn't have to be shameful or terrifying..." This first part is read very quickly, as though it's not really the part she was so excited to share with Noriko.

Jubilee continues reading, now slowing down a little and reading more carefully. The important part. "...It can be quite intimate if shared with the right person," she continues. "With someone you love." Jubes looks up and smiles at Noriko. "...Pleasurable, even for them, because when you feed, their soul is bared to you and yours to them. I believe I've found a way to allow that to happen without so much danger to your person!" Jubes can't contain her own excitement, so her tone adds some enthusiasm for this that might not actually be expressed in the printed word.

"It has to be your person, someone that you'd be willing to give up everything for and they would have to be part of the ritual. At the end of it, they wouldn't suffer the physical consequences of your feeding from them as greatly... And a fail safe would physically stop you from going too far. The fail safe wouldn't be pleasant, but you'd survive it. John Constantine."

Jubilation looks up from the paper, staring at Noriko's reaction to that.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko finishes that 'tent' in no seconds flat.  It would have taken Jubes before she turned no time at all either, but it allows Nori the luxury of wondering if she should be listening in or not, until Jubes slows down.  Nori steps forward, slapping the debris of working off of her hands a little.

Noriko's brow furrows as she listens, feeling some kind of tension of the moment build in her stomach as the words seem to have some significance for them.  When Jubilation looks over to her, sh e finds Nori speechless, her lips lightly parted in shock.  "What does that mean?  Does that mean you could feed safely?"  She knows that's what it means but she needs someone to pinch her.  She's already beginning to smile though, her eyes already watery with hope.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilee's own parsing of the letter was much more careful and comes with the benefit of actually knowing Constantine and his magic. She knows, so far, that it doesn't come without a cost or stipulation. "It means....I could feed safely from /one/ person," she clarifies. ".../My/ person." Her eyebrows lift, eyes studying Nori's reaction to that. Jubilee's own smile is already formed, large and obvious.

"Would you do that?" she asks, referring to whatever magic ritual the letter implied would need to take place.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Nori already knows she's Jubilation's.  There have been passing mentions of this and it's not like they really were doing anything but putting acknowledgement to something already there.  That they belong to each other.  As soon as Jubilation confirms what Nori was suspecting, Noriko's position becomes clear.  She's smiling ear to ear.  "Yes!  Of course!"

The speedster darts to give Jubilation a hug, holding her tightly and then loosening a little.  "Whatever it is.  I don't care."

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilee squeezes Nori back, pressing cheek to cheek as they share that hug. "I know, I know," she says quietly. When Nori loosens her grip, Jubilation leans back so she can look at her. "We gotta, like, find out what it means, though. I'm serious!" Jubilee warns, apparently meaning it. She doesn't want to crush Nori's hopes, but it does need to be said. After all...

"John's magic is, like, powerful, I think, but everything I've seen always involves something bad," Jubilee explains, perhaps shedding a tiny bit of light into what the first part of the letter was about. "I...I gotta find out what this is going to be, but..." Her smile returns as her paranoia fades into the fog of hope.

"Oh, this is so great... I can't believe it..." she nearly squeals.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Yeah, we do.  I know.  But I still don't care," Noriko says with a dangerous laugh, carefree.  "Why didn't he just put that stuff in there?"  It comes to mind and comes out before she concludes, yeah, what Jubes said.  Probably something unpleasant.

Noriko knows there will be something to this, but right now, she doesn't care.  She reaches out toward Jubes with the intention of looping her arm around, drawing her closer, but she just jams her finger instead with a grunt.  THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN NOPE.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
"I think he has this thing where he likes knowing stuff that only he knows," Jubilee explains. How does she possibly explain John Constantine to someone who has never met him? She shrugs and shakes her head. "We can't agree until we /know/ what's going on, Nori... You don't understand. You know that amulet thing I had?"

"He made that so animal blood would be, you know, as nutritious as human blood... Using magic. But, yesternight...I...I found out it was killing him," Jubilee says, brows hiked. So, that was the end of that! "And...And he /knew/ it would be like that. So, yeah, we gotta, like, really really know what we're getting in to."

But, yeah, Jubilation doesn't want to let the price of this magic get her down. Just enjoy it! In the darkness, Jubilee can easily see Nori coming in with her arm...and then jam her finger for...some reason... maybe on purpose? Huh? Jubilee draws closer to the speedster and reaches out for her hand. "Are you okay? Why'd you do that?" Jubilee asks, laughing a little.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"I know...what makes you think I'm going to agree to something without knowing the terms and what the consequences are?"  Noriko shakes her head in faux disappointment which drops pretty quickly as Jubilation reveals the purpose of the amulet.

"Whaaaat?  What an idiot.  Okay.  Now I get why you brought it up."  Jubes' experience with the guy, which Nori doesn't have.  "I'll be careful.  We talk and decide together....Uh, I think I jammed my finger a little.  I was trying to pull you closer and I missed.  I guess you shifted your weight or something?"  It's not like Nori to not be able to track a person's movement, but then Nori assumes Jubilation can tell it's dark out here.

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilation nods, now seeing that her message is getting through. Noriko calling John an idiot, though? Jubes winces a little, her mouth hanging open just a bit as she tries to find the right words. "Uh," she mutters. "...We'll have to work on that. He's not the type to, uh, be... questioned. Or called an idiot. And, you need to put up with him being mean to us..." Why the hell does Jubilee hang out with this guy?

"I won't let anybody hurt you, Nori. Especially me," Jubes says softly, smiling at the speedster in the darkness. "So, if this doesn't work out, we'll figure something else out."

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Are you serious?"  Noriko blinks in the dark, for no reason than her reaction to Jubes' acquiescence.  She grits her teeth, but this is for Jubes.  And if she has to deal with some asshole  a little bit as the cost, so be it.

"I was going to look into seeing if I can learn how to draw and preserve my blood but...this..." potentially could be much better for them.  "I know you won't.  You could be a zombie and you wouldn't go for my brains," she smirks.  "Or maybe only my brains.  Not sure which."

Jubilation Lee has posed:
"Yeah," Jubilee admits. She's serious. "...John's like... Everyone says he's a great guy but he acts like a total jerk. But, you know... He was willing to help me. He's that vampire hunter I told you about. Oh, he says he's not one, you know, in case /that/ comes up."

Nori's point about preserving her own blood gets a smile from Jubes, but, yeah, John's idea is potentially much better. Certainly more fun. So, she just changes the subject. "So, what's my surprise?"

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko already doesn't look amused.  "Sounds wonderful.  I'll try not to rock the boat."  Which is...well, Noriko /does/ have a reputation, even if that side of her is largely quelled when with Jubilation.  Perhaps it's that Jubilation is so very distracting for her.  Perhaps it's because the joy she feels buoys her against the annoyances of the world.  Perhaps.

"Oh...It's a prototype coffin!  I wasn't sure what kind of closer you'd want.  Slide, or hinge, or-so I left it flappy for now."  What is flappy?  "Don't get too excited."

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Jubilee gives Nori a closed-eyed nod. She knows about her reputation, has even been feeling it firsthand here and there recently, but no matter. John Constantine and Noriko Ashida meeting is a recipe for disaster, but it's a necessary chore. They would need to be on their best behavior and Jubes is certain Nori gets it.

Jubilee's eyes light up at the announcement that there's a 'prototype coffin' waiting for her. "Really?" she exclaims, already getting too excited. It's not /what/ it is. It's that Noriko did it for her. "Wh-- How'd you do that!?" Since when did Nori make stuff? Without even taking time to think on it, Jubilee has a very simple answer. "Hinge if it's light, slide if it's heavy," she says almost automatically, as though vampires routinely sit around talking about their favorite coffin features and this is just a given.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
"Don't get too excited!  It's only to test shape and size.  We'll need to fill it with our own bedding and maybe start experimenting with that too to figure out the best material," Noriko rattles off as if her mind thought ahead sixty milliseconds ago, at least.  "I used really nice cardboard...and I built it up layer by layer so it would be super strong.  It'd be heavy for a human," but neither of them are human.  "But for what we're testing it's good enough."

Cardboard it may be, but what Noriko doesn't tell Jubilation is how meticulous she got about how all the edges fit together like a graduated sculpture, how she gave it an underwater paint job kind of reminiscent of the mural they worked on together in the subway.  Nope.  She doesn't tell her those things.  Even functional prototypes can be fun and pretty!

Jubilation Lee has posed:
Don't get excited. As soon as Nori finishes talking, no more than a millisecond after the speedster finishes saying 'enough' Jubilation springs forward. She moves as quickly as she can, summoning all that vampiric speed, and shoves her body into Noriko's. It's not the move of a predator. It's the move of someone overtaken by emotion, positive ones that surge through her entire being.

Jubilee sends them both crashing down into the thick material of the makeshift tent, taking it all down with them in the process. She practically forces the issue of a kiss after saying just one thing. "Too late," she whispers before pressing her lips against Noriko's underneath the glowing moon and stars. Don't get too excited. Too late.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko never sees it coming, quite literally.  It's dark and they are close enough that Nori is overtaken before she shifts into super speed out of instinct, letting go of her grip of time and velocity with Jubilation for an instant.  Long enough for her to lift her arm up and tenderly brush Jubilation's hair from her face.  Then wham!  They hit the tent.  Oh shit.  The tent.

Noriko briefly smiles into the kiss, relaxing in Jubilation's arms.'

Jubilation Lee has posed:
As soon as she realizes they wrecked the tent, Jubilation breaks into a full on fit of laughter. It's the kind of reaction that comes from a moment of pure joy, not necessarily one that's funny. Still, all that preparation down the tubes thanks to a single moment of frivolity "I guess we'll have to go back, after all..." Jubilee says, laughter gently breaking up her words. She reaches up and rakes her fingers through Noriko's hair, smiling at her. The darkness is not at all hindering her.

Noriko Ashida has posed:
Noriko smiles easily, eyes closing briefly when Jubilation rake her fingers through her hair.  Noriko doesn't seem to have any problems in the darkness either when she has a reference, and definitely seems more at home with things like this, where it is hard to lose Jubilation.  "Yeah.  Well.  I didn't design for that," Noriko smirks.

Nori leans into the fingers in their wake, wanting more.  "Ooookay."  She doesn't move.
