Sound of the Shopping Seasons
Date of Scene: 24 October 2021
Location: Shaw Studios
Synopsis: Nick and Dazzler take a break from a recording session to discuss off time plans
Cast of Characters: Michael Hannigan, Alison Blaire

Michael Hannigan has posed:
The hallways of Shaw Studios are eerily quiet today. Save for Larry, the guard who is positioned in the main lobby area of the building and Gary, the guard who is situated on the upper floor, there is little in terms of life in the main hallways. What on earth is the cause of this ghost town feel in a studio that is supposedly raking in some decent amounts of cash? What HORRORS were unleashed upon those who would ususally traverse these floors?

Nothing. It's just Sunday. And judging from the red light shining outside one of the session rooms. It's not REALLY a ghost town. It just appears that someone is in session.

In the empty halls the glow of red soon dies away, being replaced by the welcoming shade of green positioned just below it. There is a buzz and the door swings open, allowing for the sound of voices to filter into the hallway. Amongst the crowd, Wade Shaw looks back through the doorway to those inside. "Good round. We've got refreshments set up in the break room area. Rest up. Start heading back in 30."

Instructions given, the studio owner, and sometimes session worker makes his way up the steps.

Amongst the flood of technicians, Nick Drago steps out of the doorway, stepping to the side to glance in. While the turn of the weather outdoors has become known, he hasn't resorted to the knit cap just yet. But the presence of long sleeves seems enough evidence to the chill having registered to him earlier today. His eyes set upon one person inside, casting an easy smile to them. "Great work today."

Alison Blaire has posed:
"Why, thank you," Alison says with her easy smile, her typical scrunchie keeping her unruly hair in place. Studio days are never dress-up days, unless there's press scheduled, so it's a fair game wardrobe sort of day. The change of weather has her trading in her customary sweats for earth-tone sweaters and boots. Knit caps aren't out of the question, either, since they're an easy way to disguise her appearance.

"Not too bad yourself. You know, I hate recording in this season. Performing in general. The change of weather just does... things to my sinuses." She waves her free hand, the other one clutching the thermos that contains the miraculous solution that all singers swear by. Sometimes ginseng is involved, ginger is definitely a part of the concoction, and lemon and honey wouldn't even think of not showing up. A herbal tea infusion finishes the recipe. "It's early enough, though. I still haven't felt like I've been gargling brillo pads."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Imagine how it'd be if we actually waited until December to record the seasonal music." Nick muses, watching as the last of the group start making their way to the break area. "My schedule is actually pretty forgiving tour wise for the remainder of the year save for the fundraisers. We're entering into crunch time with Theme of the Crime. Plus there's another project I have to get ready for."

He looks back over to Alison, "How's your tour going? Any more dates lined up this year?"

Alison Blaire has posed:
"Nah," the pop starlet shakes her head and takes a sip from her thermos, "The seasonal stuff is canned away. I've got a few holiday popups here and there but it's mostly quiet. Still hoping I'll get to be the musical guest on SNL one of these days," she grins, "When, you know, it gets good again. It might take a while." Her opinion of the current quality of the skit show is clear.

Her eyebrows raise as she seems to remember something, "What are you doing for New Year's? There's a Jun Togawa tribute show that's putting on a new year's eve thing- I've got an invite with a plus one attached, and nobody I know is adventurous enough. You in?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Well, I can't tell you when SNL is going to get good again. But you'll probably get booked there before that happens." Nick replies, giving an apologetic look, "But if the ratings suddenly jump for that one episode that'll be a nice boost to the ego."

He tilts his head up in thought regarding the invite. "New Years? Hmm. I'd have to check with Wade to see if I got booked for anything that night. Some people with money to burn are willing to pay extra for live music at their countdown bashes. But if not already taken I can ask him to keep that night open."

Alison Blaire has posed:
Alison shakes her head, "Oh yeah, that's definitely what I want down the line- 'hey, remember when Dazzler was on SNL? Didn't watch it 'cause it sucks now that they can't ride on Kristen Whiig's impersonations, but I'm sure the song clips are up on youtube', that's-" she does the 'ok' sign, and grins.

"Those private gigs are always such a toss-up. They're supposed to be good for connections, but maybe it's not as good to be /so/ well-connected."

She raises a finger in anticipation, "Is this the point where Wade bursts through the wall and says 'Yes It Is?' , isn't it?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Nick looks over in the direction of the stairwell, and waits.

Still waiting.

Waaaaaaiiiiiting...

"Wall and floors are still intact." Nick relays, "But maybe if you say that a bit louder he might pull a Kool-Aid Man. But you're probably right about what he'd say." He pauses, "But then again, he's also gotten on my case about doing too much at a time before as well. But on the other OTHER hand, it's New Years Eve and not, December 30th."

Alison Blaire has posed:
"Point taken. You do have a tendency to let self-care go by the wayside, so it's a good thing you've got Wade to yell in your ear when you're going overboard." Her look says it all- it's the 'Don't you dare tell me I'm wrong because you'd be lying' look that a big sister might give. Or a younger sister with a tendency to be nosy.

"Speaking of self-care, I'm still holding out for another climbing session. In the meantime, are you up for a little... wager?" she says, taking a slow sip from her thermos and looking straight at Nick, one eyebrow rising just a little.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Oh gosh.

Nick may have been an only child but he's had plenty of exposure to others to recognize THE LOOK. It's not really one that is reserved for sisters. Brother types will do it as well.

But damn is this one powerful.

Nick adjusts his gaze, looking a bit aside of Alison. Yes. Guilty. So so guilty.

The promise of another climbing session does get him to look back to Alison. "Climbing sounds good. Other than Wednesday and Thursday I think I'm open this week. Want to bet lunch again?"

Alison Blaire has posed:
Dazzler sets her thermos down and gives Nick a grin that might be disconcerting in anyone else but Dazzler.

But then again, even in Dazzler, considering things.

"We still have a few minutes. Let's see how well you've been taking care of yourself! Let's do a quick jog and come back when the session is ready to start again. So we can see how out of breath... or not... you might be when it comes to performing time."

She points, "Winner gets lunch."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Nick raises a brow to the suggestion. "Running around right before we start another session? That just seems very irresponsible. Wade would have a fit."

He pauses, "...First one to wheeze is buying."
