Culinary conversations.
Date of Scene: 30 October 2021
Location: Lobby - GIRL Headquarters
Synopsis: Demona runs into Viv who is getting in some preparation for the holidays. They have a chat about high tech costumes.
Cast of Characters: Vivian Vision, Susan Sullivan

Vivian Vision has posed:
Ahh the GIRL facility. Filled with the juxtaposition of cutting edge security and technology alongside a design aesthetic that's a little more Lisa Frank than your typical science lab.

Not that Vivian Vision, synthezoid teenager, cares much about how the place looks in the physical realm. Her domain is mostly the facility computers systems... Well that and the kitchens.

Indeed it's her time experimenting with food science that draw the most interest from her fellow GIRL members. Because mostly she makes cookies, cakes and other treats for them to snack on. And which fill the corridoors with a pleasant smell of baking that's very out of place in a high tech science lab.

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona is new. She's also undead. That's also not her name. There's a ton of metadata Vivian would know about. Right now, she's approaching Miss Vision with purpose. "Excuse me," she calls, more floating than walking as she approaches. "Am I interrupting?"

Vivian Vision has posed:
The kitchen doesn't really look like a regular kitchen. You can thank/blame Doctor Pym for donating his old kitchen equipment for that. A lot of the 'appliances' likely started out life as lab equipment. But with a little care and a lot of practise they work just fine.

Providing you have an extremely high end fire suppression system...

Ahh yes metadata. On the one hand Viv likes to be prepared for every situation possible. But on the other hand she doesn't like to pry on the other members without permission. But hey someone floating around on camera will at least draw some level of curiosity!

With her green hair, reddish skin and glowing eyes Viv is clearly not 'normal' either. But then who is around GIRL?

"Hmmm?" she says without looking up from the 'kitchen' appliance she's using. "You do not need to worry about interrupting. I am capable of performing hundreds of tasks simultaneously without any impact on my performance."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona looks over what Vivian is up to. "I don't doubt it," she says. She looks at her face and continues, "Hey, I've got a project I've been working on. Sort of a microbot mesh that would end up as reconfigurable clothing. I was wondering if you could help me with the software...or the microbots. Now I have the equipment for this, but scaling down macrobots isn't quite as simple as hitting the resize tool."

Vivian Vision has posed:
What Viv appears to be making is candy. Using a rather potent looking heating element to keep it malleable while she works it by hand, adding colourings and flavourings in small amounts, then kneading it like dough to get the desired distribution. Judging from the heat coming off the appliance it's probably not a technique a regular human would be safe trying. Not without some very well insulated gloves.

"You wish to make clothing out of tiny robots?" she muses. "The software for that wouldn't be too complex. Not compared to the devices themselves."

She glances back over her shoulder and frowns. "Aren't you concerned that such an outfit would fall apart in adverse environmental conditions? Anything that could generate an EMP, strong electrical charge, hacking attack or perhaps even strong jets of water would... You know.. Make it disappear."

A shrug.

"Have you considered a combination of smart materials that can change shape when subjected to the right conditions? It wouldn't have as many potential configurations but you'd be less likely to have a wardrobe malfunction."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"No," Demona says. "Though I HAVE considered wearable holographic projectors that would allow you to look like you're changing clothing. I was thinking, with the microbots, they'd lock into position and color and be semi-passive. Maybe even solar-powered. Smart grid of them so you could charge things you're carrying wirelessly."

Vivian Vision has posed:
"Oh holographic projectors are very easy," Viv says with a smile. A small holographic schematic appearing in the air beside her. "I'm equipped with an advanced holographic projection system that can hide a moderately sized aircraft. The trouble with holographic outfits is that anyone with non-human standard senses can see through them."

She pinches off a chunk of the candy, shapes it, then puts it onto a tray. "Not a concern providing you wear something comfortable underneath of course."

"Might I ask what the purpose of the project is? In terms of time and resources it would probably be cheaper to simply buy new clothing for various social situations."

Her foot taps a few times. "You could probably get small robots to charge from solar energy or by absorbing energy from your motion. But if they're small enough to act like a fabric they wouldn't store enough energy to reliably charge a device. Not without my Great Aunt Nadia helping you to 'cheat'."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"It's a commission, of sorts," Demona says. She considers. "The wireless charging was my own addition, but being able to change between semi-stable states is the goal. Being able to wear something appropriate to super in and suddenly be in something resembling business attire in moments."

Vivian Vision has posed:
"So not a project for your own use?" Viv wonders. "I.. generally only help with projects where I know how the end product will be used. So that I can reassure myself that the recipient won't try and commit any criminal acts using something I helped to create."

By now Demona can probably tell that Viv is making some kind of holiday-esque candy canes. Practise runs for later in the year perhaps?

"For a business outfit I'd personally use smart materials over robots. Most offices will have metal detectors and other security measures which could pick up a mechanical solution. And you don't really /need/ limitless outfit options. You just need a costume that changes into a suit and back."

She tears off a ball of candy, rolls it around and once it's cooled enough to be safely handled offers it to Demona. "Would you like to try some? It's a mint blend I've been working on."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"No, thanks," Demona says, holding up her hands and taking a step back. "I don't eat. It would just gum up my insides." She waves. "Well, you've given me something to think about, at least. I'll talk to you if I end up needing software anyway, yeah?" She stuffs her hands into her hoodie pocket as her feet lift from the floor. She seems to float from the room without effort.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"I'll be sure to update that information in my records," Viv assures. "And yes, please feel free to contact me if you need any help with coding. I maintain a few personas specifically to assist other GIRL members with any matters they need help with. Or indeed if they simply want someone to talk with."

"My contact details are available on the public network." And with that she offers a little goodbye wave before returning to her culinery project.
