Hello You!
Date of Scene: 07 November 2021
Location: Dining Room: Themysciran Embassy
Synopsis: Diana and Cassie have a quick meet up in the Embassy dining room. Diana invites Cassie to the Justice League as a reward to her hard work and dedication to HERO STUFF!
Cast of Characters: Diana Prince, Cassie Sandsmark

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana had heard that Cassie was in the Embassy and she'd made sure to post up inside the dining room near the open door to catch the young girl on her way by. She had a couple plates of pie sitting in front of them too. Apple Cherry pie that Ferdinand had made himself.

The Princess is wearing a big puffy loose-fit white sweater that looks to be made of cashmere, her dark hair tied back in a loose pony and a pair of black rimmed glasses on for style sake. She's reading a book and sipping from a cup of tea that is resting also on the dark cherry wood table of the dining room. With one leg up on her chair, a pair of black silk night pants on, Diana looks very very comfy and casual....

And when she catches wind of Cassie coming near the open door, she calls out. "Caaaassaaaandra. Join me for some pie?" She asks as she looks up with a smile on her dark red hued lips.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Intercepting Cassie near the food? They don't call it the Wisdom of Athena for nothing!

The plan works as it should. Anywhere a young adult person arrives somewhat late to crash, raids for snacks are to be expected. Goes double when the place has a Michelin-quality chef on staff who is also some kind of rugged beast man dude that it doesn't hurt to look at when he brings you out plates of delicate finger sandwiches.

As it turns out, this particular fantasy (he may also be shirtless in it) is not actually what comes to pass for Cassie. Nope, waiting with the food is just boring old Wonder Woman, of all people. Still, interception successful, with Diana calling out even before she's crossed into the door. Those ears of hers! But there's pie. So she'll take it.

"Oh, hey Di," comes the super casual as ever greeting, when she finally shows herself, and starts veering in on the pies. "Mmm, those do look good."

For once, she is not actually wearing WW-brand swag, though some of her outfit, the brown zip-up hoodie jacket and dark skirt worn over leggings are familiar fashion elements, worn when things are a little cooler. But her shirt has some kind of BAND logo.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana just holds that warm inviting smile for Cassie when she takes the bait. She even pushes the plate toward her along with the cloth napkin and a empty cup. "Tea?" Diana asks as she starts to pour it anyway.

Swoooosh, steamy! The tea swirls around in the cup before nearly touching the brim of it. Diana sets the pot back down on the tray and sets her book aside before she curls her forearms up and leans her chin down on to the back of her hands to just smile at the young woman.

"What have you been up to? I wanna know all the details. How is school? Have you been doing much with the Titans?" She inquires.

Her hands come down a moment later to gather up the small silver fork on her own pie plate and she runs it through the tip of the single slice of yummy sugary pie.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Since Diana is too fast to even answer, the tea goes uncommented on. She'll probably have some. But the pie is the star attraction, let's be real here! She goes for the plate without even bothering to sit down or anything, just picking it up to nibble at while leaning up against the table.

"Noffin speh-" Chew and swallow, first! She does this, and starts again. "Nothing special, really. School's school, still uh, first semester, sophomore year," which remains a year delayed from most of her peers, given her year off in Amazonia, "but getting toward the end of things, like it goes by pretty fast with the holiday breaks and stuff. Finals are next month, still." And that stuff is always stressful, always a struggle with her, not because she's inherently a bad student, but because she is basically working two jobs on top of it. "Good news is I got approved for uh, some of those independent study credits. Not the one mom wanted," which was, naturally, archeology or anthropology-focused, "but they'll let me put the Embassy stuff as an internship toward my program."

There are probably things Diana will have to sign!

"But you know, otherwise its just classes." Which she shrugs off as the most boring thing. "I don't think we've had any real big incidents recently either, but like, you'd know about those anyway at the JL, right? Nah, we've just had the usual, you know, occasional Hive plots to foil and that kind of thing. Hmm. Oh and uh, remember that stupid Gotham ball you sent me to cuz Bruce Wayne wasn't going so it wasn't worth Diana Prince's time? Well, Phoebe got attacked by some magic bugs or something. I don't know. Kinda weird, she's all off on her own deal with her two new magic dads or whatever."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana remains poised on the edge of her dining room chair with her left foot dropping down to the plush carpetting below. She listens to the updates that Cassie provides while enjoying a second forkful of her pie. Her red lips gently move, gracefully to the motion of her mouth as she chews on the tasty treat before her left hand moves to take up her tea cup by its handle. She flicks her wrist a bit to get the extra long belled-sleeve out of her fingers way so she can do just so.

Diana's eyes are on Cassie as she drinks and when she lowers the cup again she nods her head softly. "That all sounds quite good." The Princess says in her naturally husky hued voice. "And... speaking of the Justice League, I was hoping you might be interested in advancing your involvement with them. I know you have a lot on your plate though, but I wanted to offer this to you..." Diana moves her book and reveals a Justice League security pass card that she offers to Cassie by sliding it across the table. "They are mostly ceremonial at this point of technology... but... it still has uses." She says with a smile.

The card is glossy and very official with Cassie's name and some information printed on it including 'Wonder Girl' in fancy script.

"It means you can come and go from our locations, welcomed and included in operational conduct as well." The Princess says as she sits there happily upon her chair watching Cassie's reaction.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Taking another moment to shovel pie in her face-hole, Cassie may seem a little on auto-pilot, conversation-wise. They are normal topics, at least as normal as things get in her generally strange life, and thus can feel a little boring. Even reports of magical attacks at Gotham fundraisers! That happens every other week. But as blase as she can be about some of this stuff...

Well, her eyes get REAL BIG at the sight of that card, and she snatches for it, lightning-quick, with her non-pie hand.

"Woah!" the young woman exclaims, fork still in her mouth. She closes it and cleans off that bite worth of pie before trying again. "Woahwoahwoah! Seriously, this thing is real?" She holds it up for inespection. "It's super official looking! That's sooooo cool." Even more than she's an Amazon or even a crimefighter in general... she's still kind of a fangirl first. Even if she plays things cool these days, her overwhelming enthusiasm is unmistakable.

The details, although many, are probably not very important to her in the moment: like what 'involvement' with them would actually mean or how much time she DOES have, or how much her mom is 'Not going to be sure about this, Cassandra.' No, she's just seeing stars. And so she grins real big. "This is amazing Di! I'm... I'm like SUPER honored!"

Diana Prince has posed:
When Cassie reaches for the card with the JLA logo upon it, Diana just raises her right hand up to prop her chin up on the palm of it. Her other hand rests on her small silver fork upon the edge of her plate while she watches the girl inspect the I.D. badge. "I know you already have ... the Titans, and more, but this is just another step to show my appreciation toward all that you are working for. Your dedication to your classes, to your training, to this life that is quite arguably a whirlwind in the past several years. You have handled it in stride, with a more than admirable amount of fortitude in character and strength."

Diana grins at her. "You can also flash it to the Police to help make them understand who it is that you are representting at a situation. But." Diana pauses then and lowers her chin as her right hand goes back down to the table surface. "Do not flash it at parties to impress people."

Yeah right!

The Princess smiles again then. "If you are interested, however, this will grant you full access to the Hall of Justice in New Troy, the Moon Base and more going forward. So yes... welcome to the Justice League." She says with an inner pride appearing on her face for her friend.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie is still staring at the card, as if its surface might reveal the great mysteries of the universe. It does not, although it is still sure shiny to look at!

Not everything else that Diana is saying totally penetrates the moment of awe and rapture, either. Yadda yadda something Titans blah blah. It's not like she's going to take them for granted, but in the moment, its just not the topic foremost on her mind. No, the point where the conversation breaks through again, among discussion of police cooperation and showing off at parties, is two particular words that define just how next-level this whole thing is:

Moon. Base.

"Oh shit I totally forgot about that!" Well, that's not even true. She could list off every public fact about the Justice League, no doubt, but in the rapid-pace trip her mind is going on, it zooms past that particular little detail until that reminder and then goes swinging right back. Because... moon base! "And I can just go up there whenever? Haha wow that is craaaaaazy." It wouldn't even be her first time in space. The Titans have their own shuttle! But none of that is the point. It's one thing to make a perilous trip out into the dark beyond. It's another thing to be so ridiculously badass that you just have a casual clubhouse up there where you can go and hang out.

"This is so awesome!" Now she's hugging the card to her chest like a treasure.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana sets down her fork and reaches for her cup of tea again. She lifts it up with both hands to sip from it once more before setting it down again. Her smile returns to her lips then. "One small step for Cassie, one giant leap for... Moon Getaways." The Princess says with a grin. "And yes, it gives you access to that along with a number of guests. So you /can/ bring friends up there to impress them, but do your best to give some fair warning in such a scenario so those stationed on the base are aware of what visitors are aboard the station."

The Princess then goes about folding her forearms on the edge of the table in front of her, her chin tipping up a bit in a happy kind of way, as has been standard for her this evening. "I think your mother will be proud. She has no knowledge of this either, I wanted you to be able to spring it on her. Some surprises are warranted, after all. But...." Diana motions to the pie. "Must finish that first or Ferdi will be cross with us both." She states with another grin playing across her visage as she reaches to gather up her own fork once more.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"Oh I get guests too? Oooh." Evidently, the idea of plus-one'ing people up there hadn't even crossed her mind, but now, no doubt the gears are turning. Getting to brag over being a cool super hero only goes so far, especially when they're not exactly 'rare'. But showing off moon views? That is some next-level stuff!

Eventually, the non-stop escalation of 'mind blown' reactions has to come to an end, and there is nothing more for Cassie to be totally overwhelmingly amazed at. She is still grinning, but there is a reality to get back to. And they do have pie to finish, which is not something she needs a lot of encouragement to do. It's really only that final non-pie thought that leaves her less than certain about things. "I hope she- well. I don't think she's going to be super happy about it to start. But she won't say no." Their relationship remains perpetually complex, its intricacies somehow opaque even to the vast collection of feminine wisdom held by the Amazons. Then again, motherhood is rare in that particular sorority. It is probably obvious enough to everyone that ISN'T Cassie that her mother is proud, but the two are forever at a certain distance in communicating such things.

However, Cassie has also developed a tolerance to the whole thing, a familiarity established over prior hero-business arguments and the slow acceptance that would eventually follow each of those. So she doesn't dwell on it too long. And so finally, she just forks up her last bit of pie and goes back to grinning like an idiot over the possibilities now brewing in her head. "All done!"

... "Think he'd bring us another slice?" Whether that's love of the pie talking or just a desire to have Ferdi come out and serve them, who can say?! Probably both.
