Mac's Appointedededment
Date of Scene: 30 March 2020
Location: Diana's Office: Themysciran Embassy
Synopsis: Diana interviews America Chavez, and sees a lot of potential in her to be a powerful young hero. She invites her to stay and hopefully train toward becoming a public force to be reckoned with, and have a home at the Embassy too!
Cast of Characters: America Chavez, Diana Prince

America Chavez has posed:
The weird thing about being a trans-dimensional superhero is you get used to going wherever you please. Want to see a world where the Germans won World War 2 (why would you?)? Just hop through a portal! What about a world where cats are the dominant species? Hope you like laying on a cushion al day and licking the inside of your thigh! The point is, America Chavez is used to going wherever she pleased. Unfortunately, this includes the sovereign grounds of the Themysciran Embassy.

When the star portal had deposited her in the lobby area of the embassy, they had been kind enough to treat her a bit more respectfully than just a walk-in off the street. After having spears pointed at her a little and hearing some stern words, she was eventually slotted into a recently freed-up appointment slot. Sometimes things just work out like that.

So, here she is. She makes her way into the office, hands shoved in the pockets of her jacket and neck craning to take a good look around at the place.

"Cool."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana stands near one of the far book shelves with a stack of books in her hands, four of five of them. She's wearing a black shirt that is tucked into a white skirt. Her hair is tied back into a bun on the back of her head and she has black framed glasses on over her eyes that are really only there for style purposes. She's putting the books away when the young woman is brought in to meet her.

She glances over and back to her with a smile soon to follow her stare. Setting the books down on to one of the shelves, Diana turns and starts to walk around the furniture in the room toward where America is located. "Ah, yes, you must be the one who arrived in such an unconventional away." The Princess says, extending her right hand toward her upon showing up. Being of equal height, you'd think it'd be difficult to judge her age, but Diana is remarkably adept at that.

"I must admit, I have not heard of you, but you seem to have some rather impressive powers at your disposal." The Princess adds, before motioning in to the office. "Would you like to come in? Have a seat? I have all kinds of drinks available too if you are feeling at all thirsty."

America Chavez has posed:
"You haven't heard of me here," America tells Diana, taking the offered hand and shaking it readily, "But we once fought Starro together, and one time you threw a giant hydra-squid into space. That was intense."

There's a pause, as though she's only just now sort of realising what she's saying. She shrugs her shoulders, as though that were no big deal, and continues to shake the hand. Shake shake shake. She's just smiling at the Amazon, clearly very happy to meet her.

"I'm America - that is, Ms. America. Chavez. I kind of go from ... universe to universe. You know the whole theory of 'there are a million million different universes out there where all the choices you didn't make happened'? That's true, except usually it's like somewhere along the line someone made the choice to be a chipmunk that speaks English."

She realises she's been shaking the offered hand for a while and reluctantly - reluctantly - lets go. She moves towards the offered seat, sitting down in it with an unladylike posture and her forearms draped over her knees.

"Yeah, drink sounds good."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana had grinned at the prolonged handshaked. She meets a lot of young people of America's age, but not all of them seem to have the cockiness or confidence that she seems to have. "Is that so?" Diana asks with regard to their previous meetings in alternate realities. "Well... now then I am very impressed. I ... am not sure how I would feel about having the ability to do that kind of traveling between dimensions. I would think that would lead to feeling as though this one might be a little less ... unique?"

On her way to the drinks area, Diana grabs a pair of glasses and then pours them both a glass of cider from an apple mill in upstate New York. She sets the glass pitcher of cider back down upon the tray and turns to walk toward the young woman to offer it to her. "This was brought to me this morning. A good friend owns the apple orchard that this was made from, it is quite good. I hope you agree."

The Princess moves to sit down then in a chair beside America. "So you are here now, does that mean you are... staying for long, or...? Off to another random reality where I am tossing more creatures up into space?" She grins lightly to the girl and takes a sip from her own glass.

America Chavez has posed:
"I mean, there aren't as many ones that are mashed up like this," America admits, shrugging her shoulders a little as she sits down, "Most of them kind of divide in one way or another - but that's probably too complicated to explain. But lemme just say that you're still the only you, really. The only one who made these specific choices, lived this specific life. You see a lot of similar themes, but generally they're all kinda different."

She straightens her shoulders up a little, suddenly looking very proud of herself: "Hey, look at me. Schoolin' Wonder Woman on the finer points of multiversal living."

She takes the glass when it's offered, immediately gulping down half of it with a contented sigh. She looks at Diana over the top of the glass, eyes wide and eyebrows raised as though to wordlessly convey that it is indeed very good. When she's done, she holds the glass between her knees.

"I thought I'd stay a while, yeah. That whole Genosha thing looks like it's ... I dunno. Bit weird. Thought you might need help."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana shows America a grin after the explanation is laid out and the 'schoolin' comment is given. "Yes, it would seem so." She replies softly then in her accented English. "You are very young, so it would appear at least, but it would also seem that you have experienced a lot in a relatively short amount of time."

Another sip of her own drink is taken before she sets it aside on a table's surface before looking back and placing her hands together palms flat. "Genosha, and the situation there-in, is a great many things, but if you can think of ways to help then I am sure there are many such opportunities." There comes a soft smile from the Princess as she tilts her head and stares curiously at America.

"Where did all of this originate for you?" She has to ask. "Where did you get your start with this? Your own reality, that is to say. Loved ones. Friends, family. Have you left them behind?"

America Chavez has posed:
"I already paid a visit," America admits about Genosha, shrugging her shoulders again, "I mean, there's not much to do there. Nothing left to fight, really. I moved some rubble around, flew some people to Wakanda but there's not much left that I can do. That's more up to all your rich guys to throw money at and get it rebuilt, I think. Or they could just, you know, rebuild it for free. But I don't think you guys have discovered doing things for free yet."

The question about her own life causes her to frown a little; her brow furrowing.

"I'm kind of from a different place. It's like part of the multiverse but also not really. Like, there's only one version of it. Only one of each of the people inside it. So, I'm the only me. My moms were the only them. They're ... gone now. Now it's just me. But I try to do what they did. Help people."

A pause, and she looks at the cider in her hand suspiciously: "Do people just tell you what they're thinking like that? Is this magic cider?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana takes all of that information in stride, it is a lot to process and it's all handed out in a very casual teenager-style that makes Diana a little more endeared to the young woman. She glances at the cup in America's hands and she has to grin at the last question. She shakes her head though. "It is just cider. Very good cider, but simply cider." There comes a larger smile that spreads over the Princess' hands. "I merely am a good listener and someone who tries to give their undivided attention to someone when we are able to speak candidly. I think this helps open a good dialog." She pauses then. "I hope at least." A hint of a grin plays across her lips then.

With a breath drawn in then Diana nods softly once to the other. "Well, there is a lot I think you can do to help out. By the sounds of it you have already done quite a lot, but it also sounds as though you are still quite isolated in your presence here. If you would be willing... I would like to change that. I would like, or hope, that if you are to stay around here for the time being that you would consider opening up to what resources we have available to keep in contact with one another. For instance, I am a member of the Avengers here in Manhattan, and still an active contact in the remnants of the Justice League after the untimely demise of Superman a few years ago."

Diana knows he's not really dead, but she has to play along with it so long as Kal wishes his anonymity. "What about... 'not' hero related elements of your life? Any aspirations for just being... you?" There comes another tilt of Diana's head after asking this question.

America Chavez has posed:
"I dunno," America admits, looking a little lost at the question, "I don't - I mean, I don't really do other stuff. Not really. I visited a school a few weeks ago, but that wasn't really for me. I hate to say it, but math and old books don't really come up a hell of a lot in what I do. I suppose I could probably find somewhere to live, though. I've don't really need to sleep that much, and when I do it's in this old house that I guess they're renovating or they're overseas or something. The third storey door was open."

She takes another sip of the cider, suitably convinced it isn't magic. She seems grateful to talk, as though it isn't really something, she does a whole lot. Most of her conversation is 'Hey, try not to get mugged so much!' after the fact.

"Do you have, like, a Slack Chat or something for heroes? I could join that."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana shows another light smile to the young woman. "Mm, nothing quite like that, I am afraid." She replies to the last question. "I am, however, marginally working toward attempting to help young heroes - such as yourself - get accustomed to a world that needs them for future fights to come. For future defense of our world, this reality, yet to be faced. The 'heroes of tomorrow' so to speak. I have an... inkling of an idea that you might fit in to this category even if you are a bit of reality wanderer." She shows the hint of a grin then before she stands up.

Diana walks over to the book shelves and she stops at the lit-up alcove that holds her Eagle Armor on display. "I assume you are familiar with my equipment, if you are familiar with me?" She takes a second to ask this question before she reaches to the display and takes the golden lasso off of the leather harness that is resting over the armor and the solid light-absorbing black bust that it rests upon.

"Unlike the cider, this is 'magic'." She says, holding the lasso up and showing a small smile. Diana starts back toward America then and she offers the coiled-up rope to the young woman, letting her take it if she'd like to. Offering it to her?

"This is entirely up to you." Diana tells her as she sits back down in the same chair and crosses her legs at the knee, then lays her hands upon her lap. "But if you are willing. I would be willing to offer you a place to stay here, to live here, to work here. With me, with my Sisters, and to have a base to call your own home while here - in our reality."

She levels her gaze then. "I would just need you to loop the lasso around your wrist and then tell me that everything you just told me is the truth, and that your intentions in this reality are to help others and be the best you can be with what abilities you have been graced with."

America Chavez has posed:
"Oh, yeah," America says excitedly, turning around in the chair and kneeling on the seat to watch Diana as she moves around near the armor, "I love the bird armor. The helmet looks like the bird is all 'BLAGH! I'm throwing up Wonder Woman's head at you!' I dig it."

She settles down a little when the lasso is brought out. She's familiar with it. It's worked more or less the same in the few realities she's encountered it, so she has a rough idea of what to expect. She turns back around on the seat, drawing her knees together and sitting upright. A little more proper. When it's offered to her, she takes it, turning it over in her hands. She'd seen it before, but never so close.

She obediently wraps it about her wrist, holding it there for a moment before it starts to glow tellingly. Once it does, she lifts her eyes to meet Diana's own.

"Everything I said was the truth. I promise. My name's America Chavez. I came her from a reality that's different to all this. I definitely met you before in another time and place. I really am just here to help. And hell yes I want to stay here, have you seen you?"

Her eyes widen, then narrow suspiciously at the lasso. She quickly unwinds it from her wrist, loops it back up neatly, and half-stands to lean over and lay it out on Diana's lap. When she sits again, she crosses her arms tight over her chest and stares pointedly out the window.

"Uh, yeah. Sounds good."

Diana Prince has posed:
A grin softly crosses Diana's lips as America comments on the armor. The Helmet in question is gleaming under the little bright lights in that alcove made just for it. "Maybe we can see how it fits you." She says with a sly smile before looking back to the girl.

When she does the deed with the lasso and returns it, the Princess has a very amused look on her face, she gives her a light nod and her hands wrap around the braided golden rope to squeeze hold of it gently. "Fantastic. I had a feeling it was all as you said. You have an honest face. But... one can never been too sure, without this." She holds the lasso up lightly.

But, a moment later and Diana raises up to a standing position, she offers the girl a hand to help her up to be kind. "Come, I shall walk you around the Embassy and let you get a feel for the place. A little tour of sorts. Hopefully I can introduce you to Cassie soon as well, she is about your age and also Amazon... maybe you have met her in another reality too?"
